2012 FORD FUSION Power Train Problems

On [XXX] ,I was driving in my car heading home with my [XXX] son in the backseat when my steering wheel just locked up on me and didn't want to turn and it was just stiff. I turn off my car immediately and waited about ten minutes to turn on. The car started up and the steering wheel became un loosen but this situation is off and on and it's scary . It's the third time now it happened. Next im experience a airbag warning symbol on my dashboard today [XXX] and that's even scarier driving in the car with a toddler because it's not safety. The dealer replaced the battery, the shifter cable, the connector, the rear parking light bulb, and the purge valve. 2012 Ford Fusion is having issues similar to the Ford Focus recall, 18S32, that pertains to the canister purge valve and powertrain issue. Current fusion has a 2.5L motor in it. Have replaced the canister purge valve 3 times in a 2-year span and is currenting giving codes (as well as engine light being on) of another failure. Do believe it is affecting the powertrain as well, as it is jerks under workload.

Car was impacted by previous recall related to the power steering electrical systems and power steering assist fault light. Ford needs to pay for these issues, so many people with this vehicle have had this issue and ford is refusing to pay for it.

When I started my vehicle to drive, a warning on my dashboard came on that said "Power Steering Assist Fault" and my steering wheel is now unable to turn in any direction.

The transmission seems to be slipping losing power and just plain failing if ford knew about this and stil put them out for years in different cars already had a recall on the transmission can we get this one recalled cause ain’t no way anyone should have to pay 2500 + to get a transmission replaced in a car with only 80000 miles on it .. and I’m still financing the car as well this just seems ridiculous they can get away with not fixing faulty parts they decided to go ahead and put in there and release the car anyway .. this lose in power has cause me to almost wreck or get hit a few times when I go to pull out and it wants to slug out into the intersection

Pulled out of a side street Taylor onto a main highway 39 beach Blvd and car jolted and didn’t have much go. Seemed sluggish. Transmission mount bolt had snapped off and I could have been in a major accident because I had oncoming traffic coming at me when I merged into the street and lost power because of the incident.

TRANSMISSION SLIPPING NO WARNING LAMP OR CODE

Transmission issues continue to appear without warning. Car shutters at times and fails to shift properly at low speeds. When exiting the freeway and coming to a stop, car wants to surge forward, even with brakes firmly applied. I have had the wrench light come on briefly two times. Took the car into a local transmission shop and requested diagnostic scan for codes and trouble shoot. No codes were found for transmission or any other system on the car. As the car had 100K miles, shop recommended a Transmission fluid change, even though Ford does not recommend this until 150K miles. Shop noted that fluid color was still red in color and no foreign debris was found in the old fluid. There is no evidence of fluid leaks either. Transmission shop recomended that I contact Ford delearship to see if they can reprogram or update Transmission Control Module. Contacted local...

Service advance trac and service power steering now keeps coming on . I’ve looked this problem up and seems to be a VERY common thing amongst ford fusions. Because of this , my power steering turns off and no matter how many times I reset the code , it keeps turning back on . It makes it very dangerous to drive the car especially if it turns off in the middle of a trip/drive.

Power Steering Gear , no had it fixed at ford diagnostic code P07AE . Was driving on the freeway power steering went out and car jerked wheel all the way to right almost hit guardrail with 5 yr old daughter in car. Yes . yes. No.

Power Steering just locked up while driving with no warning or indicator, it still drives but it randomly locks up where i have no control over the vehicle In backing up out of our driveway i wasnt able to stop because the braking system froze up along with the steering and i hit a truck that was going down our road

Did not put car into park and was able to turn key fully back and remove the key from the off position. Car started rolling on slight incline. No issues other than rain sensor wipers not always working, so maybe an issue in column. Have not taken to dealership or mechanic yet.

I called Ford at Sam Galloway in Fort Myers and I told them that I have at least 5 recalls but only one is important which is the passenger air bag. I was told that they have availability for September. I asked them, why wasn’t I informed of the recall? They couldn’t answer. I need to know where should I take my car. Thank you

I currently am the owner of a 2012 Fusion Hybrid. My transmission is not shifting properly. I have had the PCM updated as an attempt to correct the issue. It will rev high, like a race car, and drives like a race car. It does not shift into higher driving gears as designed. My son, who is a student driver, isn't safe to drive it. I believe that this is an issue that Ford is aware of and the dealership is wanting $5000-$6000 to fix. There are no warning lights on, so the dealership gets almost $200.00 for a diagnostic. This is not fair to the consumer.

Transmission shuddering, 1st to 2nd gear shifts shake the entire vehicle, especially when cold. Abbrupt downshift. Gear searching from 5th to 6th when highway driving.

Drove car out of driveway, after driving approximately 150-200 feet the dashboard wrench icon ( powertrain problem ) illuminated and car went into limp mode. Read MIL codes, had codes P0715, Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction and P0717, Input/Turbine Speed Sensor No Signal. Traced wiring problem to connector in front of drivers side shock tower. This connector is the connector between the PCM and and the transmission. The connector was causing an open on the conductors, causing the lack of TSS signal. There were no symptoms or intermittent problems prior to this - it happened suddenly. Had been on an interstate hiway the day prior to this, am glad this ( going into limp mode ) did not happen while I was traveling at 65mph - could have caused accident.

A recall was issued in 2015..15S18.. It seems my Vin number isn't included in the recall because it was manufactured in New Mexico. My power steering at 70 mph goes out without any warning. The above recall is exactly what's happening with my vehicle. Now I am obligated to pay 2k to fix a manufacturing flaw. This is a huge saftey issue to be on the road and while your driving your power steering goes out. STARTED VEHICLE, POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE DISPLAYED ON DASH. VEHICLE LOCKED UP AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN WHEEL. HAPPENED WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY.

IF MY CAR SITS AT IDLE FOR TOO LONG LIKE STUCK IN TRAFFIC OR WAITING AT A DRIVE THRU THE MAINTENANCE LIGHT COMES ON AND IT WILL NOT SHIFT. THE RPMS REV UP BUT IT ACTS LIKE IT IS STUCK . IT WON'T MOVE OVER A FEW MPH. THEN IF YOU SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE AND THE WHOLE CAR JERKS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT WILL NOT SHIFT RIGHT. YOU CAN FLOOR THE GAS AND IT BARELY MOVES THEN IT WILL COME OUT OF IT AND DRIVE FINE UNTIL YOU HAVE TO SIT IDLE AGAIN. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO FIX IT AT MULTIPLE MECHANICS SHOPS AND NOTHING WORKS. HAVE CHANGED MULTIPLE SENSORS AND IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AGAIN.07

CAR LEFT IN PARK IN A PARKING LOT. RETURNED TO FIND CAR HAD ROLLED ACROSS AISLE INTO ANOTHER SECTION OF THE PARKING LOT. CAR WAS FOUND TO BE IN PARK, ATTEMPTED TO JUMP, WOULD NOT START. TOW TRUCK DRIVER NOTED CAR WAS IN REVERSE WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO JUMP THE CAR. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC, HE STATED TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CAR HAS LESS THAN 25,000 MILES ON IT. CAR CURRENTLY IN SHOP BEING REPAIRED. THIS DEFECT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME ONE THAT RESULTED IN RECALL #19S16 (EXPANSION OF 18V471). MY 2012 FORD FUSION IS REVVING HIGH AND SHIFTING WEIRD. NOT LIKE SLIPPING BUT IT'S REVVING A LOT IF HER THEN IT SHOULD BE. ALSO THE TACHOMETER SHUDDERS EVERY NOW AND THEN AT 1600 RPM. MY FATHER TOLD ME THERE'S A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD FUSIONS TRANSMISSIONS AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS DRIVING IT.

ON 3/14/2020, OUT OF NO WHERE THE SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, AND THE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY COUNTRY ROAD AND ONLY DOING ABOUT 35MPH BECAUSE I JUST CAME AROUND A CURVE AFTER MY DRIVEWAY. THE PROBLEM IS COMMON AND VERY UNSAFE FOR DRIVERS. NOT TO MENTION EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. WHY IS IT THAT ONLY SOME OF THE CARS ARE COVERED IN THE RECALL WHEN ALL FORDS WITH THE NEWLY DESIGNED ELECTRONIC STEERING ARE AFFECTED BY THE FAILURE OF THIS SYSTEM!

YESTERDAY 2/15/2020 OUT OF NO WHERE THE (SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, AND THE ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT CAME ON UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS DOING 55MPH ON A CURVY ROAD. THE PROBLEM IS COMMON AND VERY UNSAFE FOR DRIVERS. NOT TO MENTION EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. NOW WHY IS IT THAT ONLY SOME OF THE CARS ARE COVERED IN THE RECALL WHEN ALL FORDS WITH THE NEWLY DESIGNED ELECTRONIC STEERING ARE AFFECTED BY THE FAILURE OF THIS SYSTEM!

AFTER DRIVING A DISTANCE, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE CAR WENT INTO REVERSE, BUT WAS STILL SHOWING IN PARK. I HAD TO QUICKLY SLAM ON THE BREAKS AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN. HOWEVER, BECAUSE IT WAS ACTUALLY IN REVERSE , THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. IT HAD TO BE MANUALLY PUT IN DRIVE SO I COULD GET SOMEWHERE SAFE. VERY DANGEROUS.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS25108633. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

WHEN TURNING ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TO LOW SETTING, THEY INITIATE AT FULL SPEED WITH SMALL BREAKS IN BETWEEN GOING TO THE CORRECT SET WIPER SPEED. HAVE TO TURN OFF COMPLETELY SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE CORRECT SETTING TO REGISTER FINALLY. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS HARD SLIPPING SHIFTING GOING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, VERY SIMILAR TO THE FORD FOCUS POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION RECALL

A SHIFTER CABLE THAT DETACHES FROM THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT ALLOWING THE GEAR STATE TO GO INTO PARK. HOWEVER THE GEARSHIFT POSITION SHOWS IT IN PARK.

TRANSMISSION HAS DELAYED GEAR SHIFTING, GEAR SLIPPING AND THE ENGINE REVS WITHOUT THE CAR ACCELERATING. TO PUT IT SIMPLY THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED. TWICE!

I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY 2012 FORD FUSION. A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO I HAD MY STEERING RACK REPLACED AS A PART OF THE MANUFACTURERS RECALL. HERE I AM A COUPLE OF YEARS LATER WITH A FORD FUSION WITH A FAILED STEERING RACK THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. I THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, AND IT'S CLEAR THAT THE MAIN ISSUE WAS NEVER REMEDIED BECAUSE IT HAS TO DO WITH HOW CRAMPED ALL THE PARTS UNDER THE HOOD ARE; THERE'S NO ROOM FOR AIR SO THE STEERING RACK BASICALLY GETS COOKED INTO OBLIVION. SHIFT CABLE OFF TRANSMISSION CABLE BUSHING. PARKED AT HOTEL, SHIFTED TO PARK AND TOOK FOOT OFF BRAKE AND VECHILE BEGAN ROLLING FORWARD. SHIFTER WAS STUCK IN PARK POSITION BUT CAR WAS IN DRIVE. USED E-BRAKE TO AVOID ROLLING INTO NEXT VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. CAR WILL NOT START BECAUSE IT IS STILL IN DRIVE.

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND MSG POPPED UP AND SAID SERVICE POWERTRAC AND SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND BECAME HARD TO TURN.
