I LEFT FROM MY HOME IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN USED SINCE THE PREVIOUS EVENING. ABOUT 2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE I GOT ONTO A STATE ROUTE AND STARTED TO GO UP A SLIGHT HILL. I HAD ACCELERATED UP TO APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING REALLY ROUGH, THEN STALLED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LIT UP. IT SEEMED TO GO DOWN TO IDLE WITH NO RESPONSE FROM ENGINE WHILE PUSHING THE PEDAL. I GLIDED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CRESTED THE HILL, THEN LET THE ENGINE SPUTTER AT AROUND IDLE AS I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND LET GRAVITY TAKE ME TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL WHERE I COULD GLIDE AROUND THE CORNER INTO A SAFE PARKING LOT. I SHUT THE CAR DOWN, WAITED A MINUTE AND IT STARTED BACK UP AS THOUGH NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. THE CHECK...
DROVE A MILE FROM OUR HOME TO PICK UP PIZZA. WENT INTO THE SHOP FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, CAME OUT AND STARTED THE CAR. BACKED OUT OF THE SPACE AND PULLED ACROSS A DIVIDED ROAD TO HEAD HOME AND THE CAR SPUTTERED AND LOST POWER SO THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS LIT. I SHUT DOWN THE CAR AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS CLEAR. IT REPEATED THIS ISSUE AGAIN ABOUT 1 WEEK LATER ON THE HIGHWAY FOR MY WIFE THOUGH RECOVERED. THEN AGAIN FOR ME WHILE ACCELERATING UP A STATE ROUTE BUT DID NOT RECOVER. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE BUCKED AND SEEMED TO STALL, THEN RECOVERED. THE PREVIOUS WEEK IT HAD STALLED COMPLETELY. SHORTLY AFTER IT STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT AGAIN AND DID NOT RECOVER. *TR
CAR EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER DURING ACCELERATION FROM A STOP SIGN. LOST 99% OF POWER AND MISSED HEAVILY. NEARLY REAR-ENDED. PULLED OVER, TURNED CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR. RAN FINE. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES AND 25 MINUTES BEFORE PARKING THE CAR; PROBLEM DID NOT RECUR. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES AND 30 MINUTES TO DEALERSHIP; PROBLEM DID NOT RECUR. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM THE SAME AS MANY OF THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE - THE THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR IS STICKING. $400 REPAIR. INFORMATION ONLINE INDICATES THAT THIS IS A NEW THROTTLE DESIGN BY FORD, SO IN ESSENCE, FORD IS EXPERIMENTING ON MY DIME. NOT ACCEPTABLE. *JB
THE ENGINE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY APPEARED. THE SPEED OF THE CAR WENT FROM 45 MPH TO 0 IN AN INSTANT. THEN THE ENTIRE CAR POWERED OFF. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AS THIS HAPPENED AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL. I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN WITH KEYS IN IGNITION. STARTED TO DRIVE AND THE SAME SERIES OF EVENTS HAPPENED AGAIN AND MY CAR COMPLETELY POWERED OFF. I GOT MY CAR TOWED TO FORD MALCOLM CUNNINGHAM ON 8/26/13. THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT CAUSED THE ISSUES. I PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY CAR WHICH ONLY COVERED THE ACTUAL PART AND NOT THE LABOR TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE REP, [XXX], SAID THAT THEY RECOMMENDED I ALSO FLUSH THE ENGINE BECAUSE THEY HAVE SEEN THIS IS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. SHE...
THREE ISSUES HAVE ARISEN IN THE LAST MONTH: 1) WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO TURN A CORNER, TO STOP OR AFTER A STOP AND STARTING TO ACCELERATE, MY CAR STALLS 2) AT A STOP LIGHT, MY CAR JUMPS - WILL INTERMITTENTLY STALL WHEN GOING TO ACCELERATE 3) AFTER PUTTING GAS IN THE TANK IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN OVER. *TR

I WAS DRIVING WITH MY DAUGHTERS IN THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY. I WAS TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT, AT OR AROUND 55 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WENT LIMP. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO COAST. A WRENCH LIGHT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. WITH NO ABILITY TO SPEED UP, I HAD TO NAVIGATE THROUGH TWO LANES OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC WITH A PARALYZED CAR TO GET ME AND MY CHILDREN TO SAFETY. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO DO SO. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN VERY OFTEN, AND THAT UNFORTUNATELY, THIS REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN. THEY ORDERED AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. UPON INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE ONLINE, I WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT THIS PROBLEM IS SO PREVALENT. THE FACT THAT FORD IS COVERING THIS UP AND PUSHING...
WENT TO START CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. FORD ROADSIDE TOWED IT THE NEXT DAY. AFTER TRYING VARIOUS THINGS FOR 3 WEEKS FORD ENGINEERING CALLED TO TELL ME IT WAS DUE TO A LIGHTNING STRIKE. INSURANCE BELIEVES IT IS A WARRANTY CLAIM AS THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY; FORD WILL NOT HONOR THIS AS A WARRANTY CLAIM. NO ONE AT FORD HAS BEEN ABLE TO GIVE ME A COST FOR REPAIRS ALREADY ATTEMPTED OR FOR FURTHER REPAIRS TO MAKE THE CAR WORK NORMALLY AGAIN. I FEEL THERE IS A DEEPER ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE CAR, BUT FORD IS CLAIMING THERE IS NOTHING IN THE CAR THAT COULD SUPPLY THIS KIND OF ELECTRICITY TO FRY SEVERAL MODULES, FUSES, AND LIGHT BULBS. WORRIED ABOUT A BIGGER ISSUE WHICH IS NOT BEING DIAGNOSED AND FIXED PROPERLY. COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, VEHICLE APPEARED TO "STALL" CAUSING A SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION. THIS OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN THE PAST WEEK. VEHICLE MALFUNCTION CAUSED VEHICLE TO ENTER "LIMP" MODE. *TR

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER CAR WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, IT REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SHE TURNED IT OFF, THEN RESTARTED IT. SHE DROVE HOME WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. THIS WAS JUNE 1ST. IT HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIME THROUGH JUNE AND JULY AND WE HAD A COMPETENT MECHANIC CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AFTER THE CODE HE SCANNED SAID THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK CLOSED/STUCK OPEN. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ON THE WAY HOME FROM DINNER WITH MY FAMILY ON AUGUST 3, WE MADE A TURN ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, CAR LOST POWER, AND WE WERE ESSENTIALLY DEAD IN THE WATER WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE VEHICLE COMING DOWN THE LANE HAPPENED TO SEE US IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. HAD THEY NOT BRAKED, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN T-BONED. IT...

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR TO WORK, I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STALLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER TWICE ON THE WAY TO WORK WHILE NAVIGATING INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. AUTO SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN, BECAME JERKY, AND HAD MINIMUM RESPONSE GSA PEDAL PRESSURE. I PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUES DRIVING. IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A GAS STATION AT NEXT EXIT. THE CAR HAD STALLED OUT A MONTH OR SO PRIOR BUT RESTARTED AND NO OTHER ISSUES UNTIL THIS REPORTED EVENT. I WANTED TO CONTACT YOU ABOUT A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IN MY 2011 FORD FUSION. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE IN JANUARY 2013 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACED AFTER MY CAR STALLED A FEW TIMES. I WAS TOLD THEN THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BACKORDERED. I TRIED AGAIN IN JUNE AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY ARE STILL BACKORDERED. AFTER THAT, I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD SIMPLY TAKE THE KEY OUT AND PUT IT BACK IN AFTER IT STALLED AND IT WOULD BE FINE. AND THEY WERE BACKORDERED FROM FORD. ENGINE CUT-OFF GOING AT 5 MPH. ACCORDING TO AAMCO CODE P2112 APPEARED ON THEIR READER. THIS CODE HAS TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART, THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASY., ARE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. IT TOOK AT TWO DAYS OR TWO WEEKS TO RECEIVE THE PART. HAS SUBSEQUENTLY HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES. THE SECOND TIME THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THE THIRD TIME WAS JULY 2013. AGAIN VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. ADVISED THAT IT WAS AGAIN A FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BOTTLE. PART ALONE WILL BE $400 TO REPLACE AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR 10 DAYS TO 3 WEEKS. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED THE GAS PEDAL AGAIN WITH NO RESPONSE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH CAR WAS JUST OVER THE WARRANTY MILEAGE LIMIT. I FOUND OUT THAT THE NHTSA STARTED AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS ISSUE IN FEBRUARY 2013 AND FORD IS AWARE OF THE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. I WAS LUCKY...
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65MPH DURING HEAVY AFTERNOON TRAFFIC WHEN MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN DIED AND I HAD TO QUICKLY VEER OFF TO THE SERVICE LANE DODGING HONKING, ANGRY DRIVERS NEARLY ALMOST GETTING HIT BY ONE. ON THE MORNING OF FEBRUARY 7TH 2013, I NOTICED THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION WAS RIDGED AND JUMPY. PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF RANDOMLY APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES WHILE IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION. THIS PROMPTED ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR MAINTENANCE AT A FORD DEALER AUTO CENTER. THEY DETERMINED THE POWER TAKEOFF UNIT AND DRIVE SHAFT WERE FAULTY, REPLACED BOTH PARTS AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME ON FEBRUARY 15TH 2013. ON MARCH 18TH 2013, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON A BUSY ROAD, FORCING ME TO NAVIGATE CAUTIOUSLY TO A SHOULDER. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED THIS TIME. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED 5 MINUTES, AND RESTARTED. THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. *TR
WAS DRIVING 2011 FORD FUSION THEN SHUT DOWN TO IDLE, NO POWER, ALMOST GOT RE ENDED, PULLED OVER AND PUT IN PARK TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED PROBLEM WAS GONE BUT RECURRED LESS THAN 2 TENTHS OF MILE. AS WE WERE DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH ON APRIL 7TH 2013, THE CAR LOST POWER AND STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE FREEWAY. CAR BUCKED THEN COMPLETELY DIED (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET)! LIGHTS THAT CAME ON: STOP SAFELY NOW, WRENCH, ENGINE, TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT. TOOK A FEW TIMES TO START BACK UP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE A CODE BUT DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. A FEW DAYS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION! ( SAME CODES) BROUGHT IT TO DEALER AGAIN, THIS TIME APPARENTLY THEY FOUND THE CODE. THE DEALER SAID GAS WAS GOING IN THE WRONG PLACE AND REPLACED A VALVE. IT HAS SINCE HAPPENED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES, ALL HAPPENING AT LESS THAN 5 MPH WHEN STARTING AFTER A STOP. I HAVE NOW TWICE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE NEWS ARTICLES FROM THIS DATE REGARDING ENGINE STALL.
