TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. IN OTHER INSTANCES, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED WITH A DELAY AND THE ENGINE WAS SLOW TO GAIN SPEED, BUT LATER ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. DAN COLLINS FORD (541-947-4965, LOCATED AT 351 N O ST, LAKEVIEW, OR 97630) AND CROWN MOTORS (541-947-4965, LOCATED AT 351 NORTH O. STREET, LAKEVIEW, OR 97630) WERE NOTIFIED, BUT WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, BLACK SMOKE WAS PRESENT AND THE VEHICLE IDLED HIGH AND LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS UNSAFE TO BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,686.

"FICM & ICP RECALL" RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD JULY 2005 IN REGARDS TO FAULTY FICM AND ICP. THE FICM WAS REPAIRED AUGUST 2005 BY A FORD DEALERSHIP. NOTE, WE DID NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH THE TRUCK PRIOR TO THE FIX. JANUARY 2006 WE HAD TO TAKE THE TRUCK INTO THE SHOP DUE TO THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH WHILE IDLING AND ACCELING; THE FICM WAS REPLACED DUE TO A SHORT; THE ISSUE THAT WAS JUST FIXED ON THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES SINCE JANUARY 2006 AND HAS COST US OVER $11,000 OUT OF POCKET TO TRY AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE THAT STARTED AFTER THE INITIAL RECALL FIX. WE HAVE CONTACTED FORD HDQRS AND THEY ADVISED TO TAKE THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WE DID MULTIPLE TIMES. OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS THE SURGING HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY WORSE. DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY , COMPLETE LOSS OF THROTTLE BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AT A LOW AMPERAGE. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED IT OFF. IT WOULDN'T START BACK UP RIGHT AWAY. HAD TO WAIT A WHILE IT WOULD START AND LIMPED IT HOME. NO PROBLEMS FOR A FEW DAYS, THEN IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. A COUPLE TIMES IT WOULD START, BUT AT A LOW IDLE WITH NO RESPONSE OF THE GAS PEDDLE. THE FINAL STRAW WAS LAST WEEK. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK. EACH TIME I CAME TO A STOP, IT WOULD LOSE THROTTLE. I WAS ABLE TO TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON TO GET GOING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-250 SD. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CAC TUBE WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. IN 2014, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, THE FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODULE, AND ONE GLOW PLUG. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURES CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 40 AND 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY STALL. FUEL LIGHT ENGINE PREHEAT WARNING LIGHTS WILL COME ON. IF THE CRUISE CONTROL AND/OR TOW HAUL ARE IN USE AT THE TIME OF THE STALL, THEY ARE SHUT OFF AT THE SAME TIME. ENGINE CAN USUALLY BE RESTARTED; ON A FEW OCCASIONS IT HAS BEEN NECESSARY TO TURN ON THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND ATTEMPT TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. THIS CREATES A HAZARDOUS SITUATION WHEN DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. THE STALLING HAS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS NO LOAD AND ALSO WHEN PULLING A LIGHT WEIGHT FIFTH WHEEL CAMPER. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO 2 LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS, THEY HAVE REPLACED PARTS (ACCELERATOR PEDAL, & A "FUEL MANAGEMENT MODULE) BUT HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN CORRECTING THE PROBLEM AND CLAIM TO BE UNAWARE OF ANY HISTORY OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE. *TR

ONCE AT THE CAMPGROUND WE MADE A VISUAL CHECK FOR ANY LEAKS AND NONE WERE FOUND, BUT THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS AT THE MIN MARK. I FILLED TO MAX. ON THE RETURN TRIP SAME THING HAPPENED. ONCE HOME I CHECKED FOR LEAKS AND NONE WERE FOUND BUT COOLANT WAS BACK TO MIN MARK. AT NO TIME DURING THE TRIP DID THE TRUCK OVERHEAT OR RUN ANY DIFFERENTLY THAN NORMAL. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND AFTER THEY INSPECTED I WAS TOLD THAT THE TURBO HAD GONE SOUTH CAUSING AN OVER BOOST CONDITION THAT THEN ENTERED INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER AND CAUSED THE HEAD GASKETS TO FAIL. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 65MPH. ENGINE STARTED BINDING DOWN AND SPEED DROPPED TO 25MPH AND FINALLY COMPLETELY DIED. HAD IT TOWED HOME. NOW WON'T START. HAVE REPLACED EGR COOLER AND OIL COOLER PREVIOUSLY . THIS TIME REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND ALL FUEL FILTERS. WILL CRANK AND RUN FOR A VERY SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME THEN WILL DIE AGAIN- AND NOT CRANK BACK FOR AWHILE. JUST REPEATS THIS PROCESS. NOW TOLD THAT IT NEEDS HEAD GASKETS OR HIGH PRESSURE PUMP.
