My door get the water in it from time to time winter is the worst are door want latch or the pop open and I think its the cable like the other recall for the truck door latches its a headache and its very scary going around a curve and your door just opens up
Door latches freeze and doors will not shut.
My 2017 Ford F-150 (VIN [XXX] ) has serious safety issues that Ford has failed to address. The 10-speed transmission has been replaced three times by Ford dealerships and still hesitates and slips between 3rd and 4th gear, annd the plate now tings especially in cold weather. The truck bed has separated from the body near the wheel wells, leaving visible gaps to the ground and causing the tailgate to malfunction. This structural separation poses a safety risk if the bed detaches or tailgate fails under load. The cam phasers have also been repaired multiple times. Ford has refused further assistance despite documented repairs. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
while installing new shocks my mechanic saw that the frame is rusted to the point of being unsafe to drive, some of the connections of the truck bed and cab we so rusted they were disconnected. there were holes 1-2" in diameter in the main frame. took the truck to local dealer which inspected it ask said the frame needed to be changed, when I asked if the truck was safe to drive the service rep did not want to answer the question, only said "frame has to be changed" I left the truck there as I did not want to sign any release of liability as felt unsafe driving the truck. I am first owner, bought the truck brand new and always maintained it and took good care of it.
Safety recall 17S33 has been completed on my 2017 F150. The truck is not driven that much, and this year has been unusually cold. My door latches have been freezing again making it impossible to close the door. In some cases, you don't know until the door just flies open. Several times now I have had to drive down the road holding the door/doors closed until the latches decide to thaw enough to actuate. I contacted Ford and was told that the repair was only warrantied for 2 years. A quick search online and there is a multitude of owners still having this issue. This is unacceptable for a life-threatening Safety defect that the manufacture has known about and is too cheap to correct the problem permanently.
Have had the rear door locks stop working during the cold, it would not allow the doors to shut and stay shut. I did have children in car seats in the truck at the time. After trying to get the locks to work for about 10 minutes they stared working again. Also have an oil leak that was discovered while having an oil change. I became aware of Technical Service Bulletin: 23/2083, NHTSA ID Number: 10233594 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and related the failure to the TSB. Called the dealership and they said they couldn't do anything about it because there was no recall for it. My truck is included in the vehicles from the Kansas and Detroit plants that are affected by a defective oil pan. The manufacturer is refusing to issue a recall.
I live in a cold climate, WA State, and own a 2017 Ford F150 XLT. On several occasions, both the drivers front door and passenger front doors have opened while driving without activating the door handle. This only occurs when it is wet with rain or snow and below freezing outside. On several occasions, when wet and cold, the doors on this truck will not latch shut as the latching mechanism is freezing on the interior of the vehicle doors. This truck has already been into the Ford dealer and the door recall notice has been addressed and fixed per Corwin Ford. The problem has not been resolved and continues to this day in an extremely dangerous state. I was advised there was nothing else they could do to help the door suddenly and unexpectedly opening issue and that I should contact both Ford and NHTSA. This is a very...
The door locks on all four doors keep freezing and will not stay locked. I have to thaw them out with a hair dryer to get them to lock closed. With my kids in the vehicle and driving down the road at normal operating speeds the doors will just pop open enough to hear the road noise outside and the interior lights come on along with the doors open warning on the main dash. My children have to hold onto the door handles to keep the doors somewhat closed until we get to our destination. While this happens I am forced to go lower than normal speed limits and drastically slow down in turns just to keep the doors from swinging open while completing the turns all while my kids hold onto the doors. This is extremely dangerous. But I'm forced to do this as my kids need to get...
Leaking sunroom. I cleaned tube's couple times and it is still happening. Ever time it's been raining my floor mat is soaking wet
The door locks freeze in the unlock state and doors will not close and lock. This is a recurring problem for several years. Door will not close and stay closed until the truck heats up.
The doors on my truck have been freezing and wont let me latch the door shut. this was apparently resolved early this year using 18N03. however in Wisconsin it hasnt happened now till winter. first day below freezing, i could not close them. i have 2 young kids and this is a huge safety concern. as an adult its not a big deal. i am terrified to drive my truck due to putting my kids at risk with a door whipping open and or not being able to get them out in an emergency because they are LOCKED shut. the dealer apparently put the fix to it but the first day below freezing, my kid has to sit his seat wondering if his door will fly open. no one else has inspected it except for my local dealer which the "repair" happened. there was no other signs of failure till...
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated there was water dripping from the grab handles and the dome light was filled with water. While driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was determined that water was leaking into the vehicle causing the computer to be destroyed. The mechanic informed the contact that the drain tubes were not properly connected. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, who determined that the drain tube was clogged. While driving in the rain, the headliner was stained and getting wet. The vehicle was taken to a body shop, which determined that water was leaking into the vehicle between the sunroof and panel. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was referred...
Paint peeling off from roof area exposing bare metal.
During a cold weather spell in January 2024, after opening the driver door, it failed to latch when I attempted to close it. This would seem to be the same problem listed under: Manufacturer Recall Number17S33 NHTSA Recall Number17V652 Summary ON YOUR VEHICLE, A FROZEN DOOR LATCH, OR A BENT OR KINKED DOOR LATCH ACTUATION CABLE, MAY RESULT IN A DOOR THAT WILL NOT OPEN, WILL NOT CLOSE, OR OPENS WHILE DRIVING CONDITION. However, when I checked, my vehicle is not listed under this recall.
I have a Ford F-150 Supercab. When tried to leave to pick up my daughter during a snow storm (temperature was around 26 degrees), I found that I could not close the passenger door. I thought the latch may have sprung shut but found it to be opened but would not close around the "D" link of the back passenger door (it would rotate but not lock into place). I had to get someone else to pick her up. I had to use a cargo strap inside (around the door handle and seat) to keep the door closed to be able to go to work the next morning (not the safest thing to do but, I could not wait two weeks until Ford could look at it). When the weather got a little warmer (around 36 degrees) the door acted normally. A few days later we had temperatures in the...
I had the recall repaired on my 2017 F150 in 2022, for the freezing door latches not latching and letting the door stay closed. I did have issues with it in ’23 but it was only once or twice and I didn’t do anything about it. I had issues with the latching again this winter (Jan. 2024) and had a new problem where the door would not UNLOCK and just brought it into Ford to maybe have them do a recall fix on latches again on it but they said there is nothing they can do. It is our only vehicle right now and my wife is currently pregnant and my main concern is us needing to leave in an emergency and not being able to get the doors open because of the locks or then having them not able to stay shut cause the latches won’t work.
Driving from church with grandchildren in back seat and drivers side rear door came open on its own. Took several attempts to get it to latch back. Now door will not open.
I had the recall done for unintended tailgate opening. However, twice now while pulling out of my driveway the tailgate has opened on its own. I have video from my ring camera showing the tailgate opening as I am proceeding out of my driveway into the street on both occasions.
I've added all 4 doors not latch closed at different times. I also had my front driver's door pop open while driving, this happens when the temperature is cold and freezing. I've spoken with two different Ford dealers and they both said they haven ne er heard of this problem. I have spoken with people who own the same vehicle and they say it's common and Ford really doesn't have a fix or if something is done it's shot term and starts happening again. I feel this is a very dangerous situation.
On cold days, general below 30 degrees, the drivers door will not latch. After the temperature warms, the door will latch. This renders the truck useless for 4 months of the year where we live. I have seen recalls on other Ford F150 for the door latch. But there are no active recalls for my truck. This is a major safety issue. Especially if the truck door comes unlatched while driving.
Frame & suspension problem. Left front wheel attaches to frame was rusted and the wheel tilted in so it was not drivable. Fortunately, I was not driving at highway speed. Otherwise, I easily could have lost control of my truck. Navarre Ford Body Shop, St. Louis, Michigan looked at the damage & shipped it to Grand Rapids Michigan, ProAm Collision & Mechanical for repairs to frame & suspension. They are calling it a fractured frame. The two parties above have inspected the vehicle. There was no police report filed. No warning lights etc. Noticed issue with left front wheel while driving in residential area.
door latch freezes during frigid temperatures and wont latch closed and if door is closed hard enough it wont register the warning light but can fly open while driving had this happen multiple times with the passenger doors once with my 3 year old childs door. i had to ratchet strap it closed to get home there is open recalls for this problem just not for my vin# this is the first ive personally reported this issue since buying the vehicle. and sometimes the door ajar warning will come on if the door isnt shut hard enough but thats after the issue happens, the door will shut but not latch causing a major safety concern.
When the temperature outside drops below freezing, the rear driver's side door has either been stuck closed or will not latch properly. Ford needs to issue a formal recall on this. If the door to open while driving this would not be safe to the passengers in the vehicle. if I were to get into an accident, I would not have easy access to the occupants in the back as the door maybe stuck and will not open.
Doors would not unlock with key fob in 23 degrees Fahrenheit weather. Had to unlock manually with key. Then door would not latch closed manually or automatically. Feels unsafe to drive because doors can swing open while driving and items or passengers in the vehicle could fall out onto roadway.
Freezing recall Driver’s door fail to close after fixing recall No fix recall
DRIVERS DOOR FREEZES UP. WHEN YOU DO GET IT OPEN, IT WON'T LATCH SHUT
Rear window shattered with defrost on.
It was 15 degrees F out last night. Both driver and passenger front doors would not latch when closed. The passenger door swung open as I turned the corner. Thankfully I did not have a passenger.
If vehicle is locked overnight it is impossible to open back doors until vehicle has warmed up. Vehicle left unlocked overnight had doors fly open at traffic light.
The contact owns a 2017 FORD F-150. The contact stated that the rear glass sliding window had become defective due to the sliding track. The contact also stated that the top track had detached from the window which allowed moisture to enter the cabin of the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer and was given an estimate for the repair of the window. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
FORD F-150 MOON ROOF RAMP/GUIDE JAW (PART # FL3Z1651070B/FL3Z1651071B) STOPPED WORKING. THE MOON ROOF MALFUNCTIONS GETTING SUCK IN THE OPEN MODE, OR FAILING TO CLOSE PROPERLY IF AT ALL. MANY FORD OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE, TO THE POINT THAT THERE ARE VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET PERTAINING TO THIS MALFUNCTION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET THIS REPAIR FIXED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE EMPLOYEES ADVISED ME THAT THEY SEE THIS ISSUE OFTEN, AND THAT THE GLASS SHATTERS AND BREAKS FROM THIS MALFUNCTION. I WAS QUOTED $400.00 TO REMEDY THE ISSUE, AND WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE DAY. THE ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WAS FOUR HOURS.
THE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 17 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THE DRIVER AND .AND DRIVER SIDE REAR DOORS WOULD NOT LATCH UPON CLOSING. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE DOORS TO LATCH BY HEATING THE LATCH WITH A HAIR DRYER, SPRAYING THE LATCH WITH SILICONE LUBE, AND SIMULTANEOUSLY OPERATING THE ELECTRIC LOCK SWITCH MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. FORTUNATELY, I WAS AT HOME WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. HAD I BEEN ON THE ROAD, I WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED.
THE LATCH ON THE DOORS OF THE TRUCK DOES NOT LOCK WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GETS VERY COLD OUTSIDE POSSIBLY CAUSING ANY ADULT OR CHILD TO FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE MOVING OR PARKED , THIS IS A CONCERNED AND SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANY AGES . ALSO CAR MAKES RATTLE NOISE AND AT TIMES SHUT OFF AND RECENTLY HAVING OIL LEAK .IS A 2017 IT SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS .
IN BELOW FREEZINNG TEMPS THE DOOR LATCHES FREEZE UP. MAKIG IT HARD TO ENTER THE TRUCK AND ONCE IN THE DOORS REFUSE TO LATCH CLOSED, SO UNLESS YOU WANT TO DRIVE AROUND WITH THE DOORS UNLATCKED YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE TRUCK WARM UP ENOUGH TO THAW THE LATCHES. NOT WHAT YOU WANT FROM A $38K TRUCK .
THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN WHEN THE WEATHER IS BELOW FREEZING. AFTER LETTING THE TRUCK HEAT UP FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO PRY OPEN THE DOOR, HOWEVER WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THEM, THEY WOULD NOT LATCH. AFTER ANOTHER 30 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND PRESS THE LOCK BUTTON TO GET THEM TO LATCH, BUT THEN THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL AFTERWARDS DESPITE MY PRYING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAD MY TODDLER IN THE BACK SEAT AND I COULD NOT ACCESS THE TRUCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER I'VE ALREADY HAD IT TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY PERFORMED THEIR RECALL FIX, THE FIX DID NOT WORK AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO.
FEB. 2019, DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE ONCE OPENED. ' HAD TO TAKE WIFE TO WORK, HAD TO TIE BOTH FRONT DOORS CLOSED FROM INSIDE OF VEHICLE. TSB 18N03 APPLIED IN FEB. BY LOCAL DEALER. DEC. 2020; FRONT DOORS FROZE OPEN; WOULD NOT SHUT. TSB 19N03 APPLIED ON JAN. 14, 2021. ON JAN. 23, 2021, AGAIN DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT DUE TO FREEZE. HAD TO HOLD DOOR CLOSED WITH LEFT ARM WHILE PICKING UP SUPPLIES. THIS WAS 10 A.M. ON SAT. THE 23RD OF JAN.2021. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN I NOTICED THE DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE. I HAVE SHORT VIDEO, BUT TOO LARGE FOR THE 5 MB LIMIT. I UNDERSTAND FORD IS NAMING THIS "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM." I SUBMIT, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
ON DEC 27 OWNER OPENED THE REAR RIGHT DOOR OF THE VEHICLE, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE LATCH DID NOT FUNCTION DUE TO POSSIBLE ICE ACCUMULATION ON THE LOCKING MECHANISM OF THE DOOR. SUSPECT THAT THE DOOR IS ALLOWING TOO MUCH WATER IN DURING MILD TO MODERATE RAIN EVENTS AND THE DOOR HAS A DESIGN FLAW RESULTING IN INADEQUATE DRAINAGE AND AIR CIRCULATION IN THE DOOR CAUSING THE LOCKING MECHANISMS TO FAIL. VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN ON THE 27TH AS THE ICE HAD NOT MELTED YET AND THE LATCH CONTINUED TO FAIL. ON THE 29TH, THE DOOR WAS FINALLY ABLE TO LATCH AGAIN AFTER IT WARMED UP. BELOW ARE SOME OF THE METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS DURING THAT TIME. VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SECURED DURING THIS TIME AND THE DOOR HAD TO BE RATCHET STRAPPED SHUT FROM THE INSIDE. DURING THE DAY OF...
2 OF THE 4 DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE AND 1 WAS FROZEN SHUT
DRIVERS DOOR WON'T LATCH CLOSED IN FREEZING TEMPERATURE. AFTER WARMING UP THE TRUCK, THE DOOR OPENED FINE BUT WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MORE MINUTES FOR A TOTAL OF 30 MINUTES OF THE TRUCK RUNNING. 27 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND DRY. I DID NOT TRY TO DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET THE DOOR LATCHED. I CONTACTED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE DURING THAT TIME BUT WAS ABLE TO GET THE DOOR LATCHED WITHOUT NEEDING ANYONE SENT OUT.
DOOR LATCHES FREEZING AND DOORS WILL NOT REMAINED CLOSED POSING A SAFETY RISK. TAILGATE ALSO OPENS ON IT'S OWN.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. DRIVER SIDE DOOR UNMATCHED DURING DRIVING. DOOR LATCH FROZEN. DOOR LATCH LOCKS AND WON'T UNLOCK. DOOR LATCH PROBLEMS SEEM TO HAPPEN DURING COLD DRY AND WET WEATHER. WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE PARKING OR PARKED.
I HAD MY DOOR LATCH RECALL COMPLETED ON SEPT 20, 2020. ALL DOORS WERE DONE AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE FIRST COLD DAY BELOW 32 DEGREES, THE DOOR LATCH FAILED AND DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE OR LATCH. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP TO TELL THEM THE REPAIRS DID NOT WORK AND FORD WILL NOT RETURN A CALL OR E-MAIL TO ME TO PAY FOR THE RECALL TO BE RE-DONE AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP! PLEASE HELP.
FRONT DRIVER-SIDE DOOR OPENED, BUT THEN WOULD NOT LATCH BACK CLOSED. IT HAD RAINED/SNOWED THE PREVIOUS DAY AND WAS 25 DEGREES F THAT MORNING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS SEPARATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DICK SMITH FORD OF COLUMBIA (7201 GARNERS FERRY RD, COLUMBIA, SC 29209) WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED BUT, WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS NOT PROVIDED ANY INFORMATION AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE DASHBOARD TO SEPARATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DENIED THE CLAIM FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED WITH A CLAIM NUMBER WHICH WAS LATER CLOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000.
I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY SITTING STATIONARY IN MY VEHICLE BUCKLING UP TO DEPART FOR THE STORE. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PUSH THE START BUTTON. AFTER STARTING I MOVED THE SHIFT LEVER TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN GEAR AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. BECAUSE MY DRIVEWAY HAS A SLIGHT RAMP TO IT THE VEHICLE KEPT ROLLING FORWARD, I KEPT HITTING THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL KEPT GOING TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. AS A RESULT I ROLLED INTO A BLOCK FENCE ACROSS FROM MY DRIVEWAY KNOCKING IT DOWN AND DAMAGING MY VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS JUST ROLLING UNDER ITS OWN MOMENTUM, NO POWER TO THE DRIVE TRAIN. NO INJURIES, BUT FENCE WAS DOWN AND VEHICLE HOOD AND OTHER FRONT END AREAS WERE DAMAGED. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED THE BRAKES...
DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY ON A FRONTAL CRASH. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HWY 583 IN WILKINSON COUNTY ,MISSISSIPPI WHEN THE VEHICLE WENT OFF THE PAVEMENT STRIKING TWO LARGE TREES.*DT*JB
LOWER ENGINE OIL PAN GASKET AND FRONT TIMING COVER BOTH LEAKING OIL. NOTED DURING OIL CHANGE. VISTA TWIN PANEL SUNROOF / MOONROOF CABLES IN TRACK ASSEMBLY STUCK, MOTORS BURNT OUT. ATTEMPT TO OPEN ROOF WHILE CAR WAS STILL, ROOF PARTLY OPENED, MOTORS MADE NOISE AS IF TRYING TO SLIDE OPEN BUT WERE STUCK. 30 SECONDS (APPROX) OF NOISE THEN SILENCE. BUTTONS TO CLOSE ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL, BUTTON TO OPEN CAUSES SMALL MOVEMENT IN PANEL TO LIFT UP AND DOWN, THEN STOPS. MOONROOF IS STUCK SLIGHTLY DOWN AND OPEN.
REAR DOOR BEHIND DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT CATCH TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED. THE DOOR BOUNCES BACK OPEN WHEN YOU PUSH IT CLOSED.
DURING FREEZING WEATHER MY DOOR LATCHES AND LOCKS FREEZE AND BECOME INOPERABLE. SOMETIMES DOORS WON'T UNLATCH. SOMETIMES DOORS I OPEN WON'T LATCH WHEN CLOSED. SOMETIMES DOORS DON'T LOCK WHEN I HAVE USED THE POWER LOCKS THAT SHOULD LOCK ALL DOORS. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED FOR A LENGTH OF TIME IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES. FORDS VOLUNTARY SERVICES ACTION HAS FAILED TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
MY ELECTRIC TAILGATE IS COMING DOWN WITHOUT ME OPENING IT. I WAS HOOKING UP MY SNOWMOBILE TRAILER AND IT CAME DOWN ON MY HEAD. WE HAVE HAD IT OPEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND WITH A TONNEAU COVER YOU DON'T KNOW IT HAS FALLEN. THANKFULLY THE BOYS HAD DOWN HILL SKIS IN BACK THAT DIDN'T FLY OUT AND KILL SOMEONE. I HAVE NOW PULLED THE FUSE BUT THAT INTERFERES WITH OPENING THE DOORS. AND MAKES MY REAR BOX USELESS WITH THE TONNEAU COVER. I HAVE TO PUT THE FUSE BACK IN IN ORDER TO OPEN THE TAILGATE. DETROIT -- FORD IS RECALLING ITS POPULAR F-150 PICKUP TRUCK IN CANADA TO FIX A PROBLEM WITH ELECTRIC TAILGATE LATCHES, BUT IDENTICAL TRUCKS AREN'T BEING RECALLED IN THE U.S.
