Throttle body failure approx every 45,000 miles. Bought F-150 new, now driven it approx 135,000 miles. Failure occurs when driving a various speeds, incl 75 mph. Engine shuts down, complete loss of power. DANGEROUS situation; safety at risk! Unexpected & random loss of power - w/ passengers aboard - in various traffic situations. After engine shuts down, restarts, then randomly shuts down until a new throttle body is installed. First throttle body failure repaired (=throttle body replaced) @ Ford Dealership in Price, UT. 2nd failure repaired @ Ford dealership in Hamilton, MT. Both covered by extended warranty. 3rd failure repaired [XXX] @ Hamilton, MT @ $324.55 personal expense. Check engine light warning occurs. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The vehicle has been sent in for a loud passenger side noise while motor is started and driving. The smell of burnt oil was also an issue coming from the passenger side. Took it in and the mechanic noticed my valve cover (passenger side) is cracked. Cannot order new ones as they are on back order. The driver side has limited quantities with a wait time, and the passenger side valve covers have 0 in stock online and at the dealerships. The smell and smoke is getting progressively worse as there is no option to replace valve covers.
My 2015 Ford F-150 truck has had multiple issues related to performance issues, with only 80,000 miles on it. I have had issues with it losing power while driving, both with and without towing a trailer where it just powers down on the highway from 70-75 mph down to 40-50 mph in traffic. I usually just have to pull over, turn the engine off and then turn it back on and everything runs normal. It is currently at Phil Long Ford in Colorado Springs, CO, having the short block and driver side cylinder head replaced at 80,000 miles because it was smoking out the exhaust and they determined that it had coolant leaking into the #4 and #5 cylinders. This is after it had a completely new engine installed at 75,000 miles due to coolant leaking into the 3# cylinder and causing severe damage to the engine. It was in...
When I was driving a light came on that said low oil pressure. I checked the oil, and it was full. Driving to get it checked out the engine stopped. I had it towed to the FORD dealership. The engine failed at 81,000 on my 2015 FORD F-150. I was charged $220 for the FORD technicians to say "they do not know why the engine failed but for $16,000 they will put a new engine in." I asked for details as there is low miles on the engine. The technician said "they would be happy to tear apart the engine, for a fee, to find out." I asked about a warranty they said the motor is good for 60,000 miles after which point it is not covered. I found, on the internet, that the 2015 2.7 EcoBoost engine has problems with oil leaks and that the piston melt, fuse together...
My latest issue is with the 2.7 ecoboost engine. I had a total failure of this engine last year and am still awaiting a replacement that I am paying for. This is unacceptable as I had this vehicle serviced according to maintenance schedule. I also have had systems report failure such as the hillside assist and the electronic parking brake. Additionally, the automatic transmission has locked up in third gear quite a few times. There are other issues such as a leaky oil pan and such.
This engine defect is well known to Ford ; it involves the 2015-2017 2.7 liter ecobost . These engines were produced with a faulty oil pan gasket . I just paid to replace the third oil pan . Taken in totality these leaking oil pans are a safety issue since oil is deposited on our roads leading to slick conditions and deteriorating road surfaces . Ford's most recent TSB related to this defect is TSB 24-2098 , which superceds TSB23-2330 . This defect effects thousands of Ford's 2.7 liter ecoboost engines .Please examine this safety issue . Thank you
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was turned off, he observed condensation under the front of the vehicle. The contact stated that radiator fluid was added but was leaking under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a six-inch crack in the radiator. The contact was informed that the O-rings, turbo, and radiator needed to be replaced. Additionally, while started, the head unit did not illuminate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
The exhaust manifolds have warped, breaking a nut and stud and causing an exhaust leak. I am finding this is an extremely common failure indicative of a design flaw. Ford will not cover this under any extended coverage, nor offer financial assistance to repair this failure.
Exhaust manifolds bolts breaking
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after discovering oil leaking from the vehicle, the vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the RTV seal had failed causing oil to leak from the oil pan, and the oil pan needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 121,000.
The oil gaskets on the valve covers and oil pan are defective and leak. This causes oil to be leaked on the engine and can catch fire. Ford has stopped making the defective parts and now charging customers for the repair. If the repairs are not made, the engine fire is a probability.
Both the drivers side and passenger side exhaust manifolds have sheered the support bolts off potentially causing parts to come loose and fall off while driving. This is a known and well documented issue on the trucks with repair estimates being 3-$4,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated the oil pan was leaking. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics where the vehicle was diagnosed with a leaking oil pan and that the oil pan needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the oil pan was unavailable to be ordered. The contact contacted several Ford dealers and inquired about the replacement of the oil pan and was informed that the part was unavailable. The oil pan had been out of stock for two years. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle was losing motive power. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, and the contact was informed that the timing belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 148,500.
My Trucks oil Pan Gasket leaks oil. I had it fix, but the Ford company had to use an aftermarket part on my truck instead of a OEM part. After I had My Truck in the shop i encountered multiple individuals online and in person that has had this issue. Here is a few form: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Can you check into this issue and see if it warrants a recall. Regards [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
During driving the engine will shut down and the truck stops. Multiple engine lights will display on the dash expressing multiple systems fails. The wrench icon will display. The safety of others and myself were put at risk due to the truck shutting off during forward movement and putting everyone at risk of a rear end crash. Yes, the issue has be reproduced and confirmed through self driving and investigation into the issues via online UTube and Ford forums. The truck has been brought to a Ford dealership for inspection. The Ford dealership has stated the the aux trans pump has failed leading to a shut down in the system and presser build up in the engine leading to failure to valve covers and oil pan expansion. Currently Ford has a service bulletin for the oil pan and the related parts that must be replaced to fix the issues, however...
While driving at approx 50 MPH the engine suddenly stopped and shut off. I coasted to the side. There was no ability to restart the engine. It was towed to my mechanic who informed me the engine had fully seized. Engine odometer was approx 103,000 miles at time of incident. There was a full engine oil reservoir.
My 2015 F-150 3.5L ecoboost experienced a sudden loss of power during highway speeds and shut off. I was in rush hour traffic and almost caused a few accidents as my truck seemed like it went into "limp mode". While my steering wheel was tight I managed to get off the road safely with no power whatsoever. My idiot lights were flashing like crazy and stated "Advance Trac Service" and "Hill Start assist not available". I let the truck sit for a bit and restarted it. It ran solid another 15 miles. Today I'm getting Advance Trac message: "Advance Trac Service" and "Hill Start assist not available", all while the engine check light remains on. I have read multiple issues similar to mine but there does not seem to be a recall for this. This is a VERY unsafe ordeal and very scary. Had my daughter been driving, this may...
The plastic oil pan is leaking and have to replace the oil pan every time there is a leak. This is the 4th time this oil pan has leaked and now I cannot order an oil pan as it is out of stock. This is an issue for the past few years and needs to be fixed as I do not have $1000+ to fix it every time this happens.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the accelerator was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that three years prior the manifold assembly was replaced and the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the part to complete the repair was not in stock. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
PS111 Error Cody: Throttle Body Assembly is malfunctioning. My vehicle lost power steering and went into full shut down mode a dozen times over the course of driving it the latest ~500 miles with the truck shaking at a stop before restarting it and working again. Many times this could have been FATAL collisions as they happened on roads without shoulder lanes. This issue is SUPER scary to have your vehicle randomly shut off on you leaving you minimal time/distance to react and often in the middle of the road with multiple lanes. I've had it at the Ford dealership for 3.5 weeks where they are trying to fix it for $1,100, however, they said Ford currently has 15,000 of the same part on back-order. This issue should be a safety recall immediately, in addition to the shear number of the same part on back-order is clearly an indicator that...
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started and shifted into reverse(R) the low oil pressure warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle however, the contact observed that the low oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact used an ODB scanner to diagnose the vehicle and retrieved DTC code: P0524 (Engine oil pressure low) and P06DD (oil pressure control sensor stuck in off position). The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
I replaced both driver and passenger side exhaust manifolds at around 80k miles. Now I have 113,000 miles and the passenger side is bad again! This repair is over $2700 per side.
While driving on a highway, the low brake fluid light came on. When I went to stop, the brake paddle went to the floor and I was finally able to get stopped. I opened up the brake fluid reservoir and it was empty. I looked to see if I could find the leak and could not see any signs of a leak. After filling the brake reservoir, I started to make my way home checking the brake fluid level every time I stop. While going up a hill, the engine stopped and a big cloud of white smoke came out of the exhaust pipe and under the hood. The truck was towed the a repair shop where it was said that the engine through a rod. The brake reservoir was empty again also. The truck was traded in at Coccia Ford dealer ship in Wilkes-Barre , PA.
The contact’s husband owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact state that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from under the hood before the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The contact stated that she was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle hesitated and stalled and then failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
REGARDING: 2015 FORD F150 WITH 20,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. -Made 1st report with NHTSA.gov as well as Ford.com back in June 2023 about the vehicle throwing codes for anti-lock brake system and communication loss of ECM/PCM. As well as, the system NOT ALLOWING the brand new battery to ever be fully charged. -Upon 1st reporting these issues, the vehicle was placed into the "Friendly Ford" service center in crosby, tx to be worked on and issues fixed. $1,376, later, we were contacted by the service center to pick the vehicle up, saying issues were now FIXED. (their prognosis: auxillary transmission pump replacement 6/19/2023) After picking vehicle up, all seemed to be running correctly. Until, the vehicle decided to do the exact same thing again...no charging the battery, not starting engine, turning itself off, ect. just got the vehicle out of the same service shop,, this time them claiming that...
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH and driving around a curb, the steering wheel became firm with the steering assist warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion while driving 70 MPH, the contact smelled an abnormal burning odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion, while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic that stated that the timing belt and camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted but provide no assistance....
My 2015 3.5l ecoboost had the Exhaust manifolds replaced back in 2018 when my truck had 51,909 miles on it and now at 90,000 miles the new manifolds warped and snapped off a stud bolt to which the American Fork Utah Ford Dealership said that since it was over a year ago even though it was a known issue that was covered under warranty I will have to pay out of pocket over $2,000 per manifold... this is a known issue with the manifold warping and causing exhaust leaks when the stud bolts snap off. Ford needs to recall this design flaw and pay for the fix.
No lights previous to incident. Sudden engine & speed malfunction . Yes, it happened multiple times heading to the ford dealer-2 mi away. We kept the hazard lights on. Sudden loss of power while driving, engine goes into limp mode, down hill assist light and altrack light comes on. Truck restarts but again limps unexpectedly. Took it to dealer -it was the throttle body that had been replaced 3 1/2 years ago by dealer.
The truck shuts off at red lights. This is NOT the feature for gas saving. The engine completely dies. This is extremely dangerous. You are stuck in running traffic until it starts back up. The ford dealer said there are no service bulletins and they've never heard of it. But the F150 forum is full of examples, and Ford is not aware or fixing the issue. This happens several times a week.
the truck has been acting up for several months now. it has been throwing out strange codes when attempting to start {parking brake malfunction, oil light, power train system default, ect} and often times it WILL NOT CRANK unless we hook it up to a battery charger for just a bit of time. The truck has a new battery that was installed by autozone, where it was bought {6 months ago}. Since we were in town, we stopped by autozone to get them to attach the code reader. {power train system and ABS malfunction} while driving, later in the day, the trucks auto start/stop system turns itself on and stops the truck dead in its spot.(danger: we were pulling onto the road {fm 2100} during rush hour traffic, when the trucks system went haywire and stopped us dead in our tracks in the center of both turn lanes and two...
F150 starts to lose power and shudder/vibrate about 60% of the time when driving. Picking up speed, truck lost half power and engine light starting flashing. When it caught gear and speed, the light stopped flashing but the truck continues to shudder and vibrate like crazy.
The oil pan is needing to be replaced for the 3rd time in 2 years. I am told this is a very common issue and that ford just redesigned the pan. There is a waiting list and the part is backordered. Also, the cost of the repair is over $3,500 with the new part. The old part the cost to repair was $1,400. Ford has not offered to cover any of it. This is a safety hazard and a huge financial strain on families to get fixed.
While driving with my family the truck gave several error messages and a check engine light. I pulled over immediately because the truck lost power and the stability control started shaking violently. I was able to safely maneuver out of traffic, but I cannot imagine what would have happened if I was on a busy highway instead of a small side street. Apparently this is an issue that has been fairly common with Ford from what I have seen online. The vehicle is at the mechanic now for repairs. He has determined that the Throttle body needs to be replaced.
The exhaust manifold on the drivers side has sheared a bolt on the back of the manifold, and has warped. This is more noticeable when the engine is cold, but is also noticeable after the engine has been off for 10-15 minutes. On acceleration, there is a chirping noise that will go away when the metals have expanded and "sealed" the leak. When cold, exhaust fumes can be smelled in the cabin of the vehicle. This issue appears to be common among the truck variant of the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine (11-16 F150, 15-17 Expedition/Navigator, 15+ Transit). There are numerous posts online from many different forums about this exact issue. Ford has even redesigned the manifold to include an additional stud hole, but there is no TSB or FSA from them to replace this on affected vehicles (BL3Z-9430-D, DL3Z-9431-D) This issue was determined through my own inspection of the vehicle....
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was approaching the vehicle, there was a fluid leak underneath the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the oil pan and engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 56,288.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at low speeds and attempting to park the vehicle, the vehicle inadvertently went into reverse, then accelerated forward. The vehicle failed to stop and jumped the curb and abruptly stopped. There was an abnormal clacking noise detected. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and drove as designed. The contact called the local dealer who informed him to schedule an appointment. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.
The exhaust manifolds keep failing on the truck because of a poor design that Ford is aware of with TSB and updated parts it cost $2200 the first time to repair now I am looking at replacing the same exhaust manifold when the manifold fails it let’s exhaust fumes and gases into the cabin of the truck
Went to get an oil change and was told about a leak, this is the third leak and the oil pan is back ordered. This needs to be rectified asap. The last two times over $1,000 cost to the dealer to replace oil pan.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while he was inspecting the vehicle, he noticed an excessive amount of oil leaking from the oil pan. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the oil pan and valve cover were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where they placed a temporary seal around the oil pan. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
My 2015 Ford F150 has 108K miles. While driving on 2/21/23, the engine started missing, several engine warning light began illuminating. I was able to pull to the shoulder and stop the engine which was missing badly. After allowing the engine to completely stop and turning the ignition off, I allowed it to settle for a moment, then I restarted the engine. I placed it in gear and attempted to drive again, but the same missing and instrument cluster faults recurred. At this point, I had it towed to Loveland Ford, in Loveland Colorado. After evaluation, I was notified the Throttle Body had failed which also caused the instrument cluster faults. Upon reading about the Throttle Body, one of the articles indicated this has been and issue for Ford F150 years 2014 -2016 produced in Dearborn and Kansas, but that Ford had voluntarily repaired vehicles with issues via extended warranty...
Exhaust manifolds warped - Very common and expensive failure. Only 8 bolts on original manifold. When the manifolds heat and cool over time due to the turbos, they warp and break the bolts requiring extraction and replacement. Ford realized their design flaw and when the manifold inevitably warps, the replacement manifolds are now made with 9 bolts. Other aftermarket manifolds are made with 11 bolts.
The exhaust manifold warps under excessive heat due to the proximity of the turbochargers to the manifold in the 3.5L EcoBoost engine, causing the manifold to separate from the engine and will frequently break studs (most notably the rear stud) causing exhaust leaks, power loss, emissions problems, and can lead to mixture problems which will cause further damage to the engine if not addressed immediately. This could also lead to engine failure and crashes or fires.
1-the Brake System Light has come on and brakes are extremely hard to press and use. I was having issues with the brake pedal slowly going to the floor while sitting at a stop. Today they will not go down at all and brakes are very difficult to press. very dangerous to drive and a safety issue. I see that my VIN does not show a recall for it, but there is recall #20S31 that relates. 2-The engine has an exhaust leak while driving and it smells as though the exhaust is getting into the cab of the truck. I was told the manifold is bent because of a design flaw in the manifold missing a bolt. been making this noise since the truck was rear-ended by semi truck.
Exhaust manifold bolts are failing, causing leaks that could cause potential fire. Also exhaust leaks before the catalytic converter, emission control.
Repeatedly faulty exhaust manifold stud bolts. They continue to break.
Failing Exhaust manifold and studs
Engine shutting off at stop this is not the auto shut off model, this has happened 3 times and many other owners have already contacted Ford about recall
Exhaust Manifolds warping. This issue is not only very disappointing that Ford hasn't addressed this issue but is a safety concern as well. This allows exhaust fumes to escape not only into the air but potentially inside the cab. This could result in serious lung issues and needs to be addressed. Thank you!
Manifold bolts broken causing an exhaust leak inside vehicle.
