2015 FORD F-150 ECOBOOST, BOUGHT APRIL 2018 WITH APPROX. 67,000 MILES, CURRENTLY AT APPROX. 75,000 MILES. I AM REPORTING THE SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATING POWER AS THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND STALLS BOTH WHEN MOVING WITH TRAFFIC OR ACCELERATING TO ENTER OR MOVE WITH TRAFFIC. MULTIPLE WARNING MESSAGES INCLUDING THE WRENCH LIGHT FLASH IN THE DASH MESSAGE AREA AS THE ENGINE SLOWS TO IDLE WITH NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND COMES TO A STUTTERING STOP. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS THREE WEEKS AGO AND HAS HAPPENED NO LESS THAN SIX TIME SINCE - TWICE WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO THE FREEWAY (VERY BUSY, VERY FAST TRAFFIC) AND TWICE WHILE CROSSING OR TURNING IN MULTI-LANE INTERSECTIONS FROM STOPPED. FOUR OF THE SIX TIMES RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE DYING IN AND OBSTRUCTING TRAFFIC WITH AND ME BARELY GETTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. I NOW SHIFT TO NEUTRAL TO LET MOMENTUM MOVE...
WHILE DRIVING THERE IS RATTLING INSIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN THAT STARTED A FEW MONTHS BACK. NOW MY ALTERNATOR SEEMS TO NOT BE WORKING PROPERLY AND THE TRUCK WILL ONLY CRANK WHEN I HAVE ALL EXTRAS OFF (RADIO, AC, ETC.) I ALSO HAVE TO PUMP THE GAS FOR SOME REASON FOR IT TO TURN OVER COMPLETELY. OTHERWISE IT JUST DIES. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL LAST WEEK WHEN IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER AT ALL. MY BATTERY IS PULLING 13.9 V AND I HAVE CHECKED THE CONNECTIONS. FOR A TRUCK TO BE 3 YEARS OLD AND ALREADY NEED A NEW ALTERNATOR APPALLS ME. THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON AND THE RATTLING IN THE STEERING COLUMN IS SOMEHOW RELATED TO ME HAVING PROBLEMS CRANKING THE TRUCK.
THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM AT 36,999 MILES. WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY IN A 45 MPH STREET WITH BUSY TRAFFIC. I WAS VERY LUCKY IT DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
2015 F150 2.7L ECOBOOST 31,908 MILES... UPON MERGING INTO TRAFFIC TRUCK SUDDENLY SURGES, FOLLOWED BY AUDIBLE BANG THEN ABRUPTLY LOSES ALL POWER "NO DRIVING CONDITIONS OUT OF THE ORDINARY, NOT UNDER HARD ACCELERATION." WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIGHT UP AND I HAVE NO CONTROL OF VEHICLE. LUCKILY I WAS FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE MUCH TRAFFIC AROUND ME AT THE TIME AND PROMPTLY COASTED INTO A DESERTED PARKING LOT TO CALL MY DEALERSHIP. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY TRUCK NOW FOR FEAR OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT DUE TO MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL FAILURE, I DON'T WANT TO DIE AND DON'T WANT TO PUT ANYONE IT THAT POSITION EITHER. DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND SAYS ITS OK TO DRIVE YET THE THROTTLE BODY THEY USED AS A REPLACEMENT IS NO DIFFERENT THEN THE ONE THAT FAILED HOW CAN THAT BE SAFE? I'D LIKE THEM TO TRUST A TRUCK THAT CEASED ALL ESSENTIAL...
VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. DISPLAY SLOWED TRACTION CONTROL MALFUNCTION, HILL ASSIST MALFUNCTION AND ENGINE TROUBLE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. ONCE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF IT THEN RESTARTED A MINUTE LATER AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED.
BRAKES WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. BRAKE FLUID KEEPS DISAPPEARING. BRAKE FLUID HAS LEAKED INTO THE INTAKE AND CAUSED MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST, THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AT ONLY 42K MILES.
AT TIMES MY 2015 F150 LOSES ALL POWER AND GO TO A LOW POWER/ "LIMP MODE" SETTING. CAUTIONS RECEIVED ARE (1) SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC, (2) HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT, (3) HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAIL, (4) TRAACTION CONTROL FAULT LIGHT. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE VEHICLE GOES TO A VERY LOW FORWARD POWER SETTING (<5MPH), RUNS EXTREMELY ROUGH TO THE POINT WHERE THE VEHICLE SHAKES AGGRESSIVELY. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT IN NATURE, AND YESTERDAY WAS THE FINAL STRAW. THIS SUDDENT OSS OF POWER OCCURRED ON A BUSY ROAD AND I NEARLY GOT REAR ENDED. I IMMEDIATELY LIMPED OFF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN CASTLE ROCK, CO. CURRENTLY I'M STANDING BY FOR THE MECHANICS DIAGNOSIS. REQUIRES THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT. SIMILAR RECALLS DID OCCUR FOR THE FORD THROTTLE BODY FOR OTHER MODELS AND YEARS (E.G. 13N03 PROGRAM). ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN IN TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK IT BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND THEN THE ENGINE STOPPED COMPLETELY. I WAS JUST SHY OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AND HAD NO POWER. THE ERROR MESSAGE WAS "DRIVER HILL ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" WHICH DID NOT CORRELATE TO THE PROBLEM AT ALL. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCK TO THE FORD SERVICE CENTER THEY FOUND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB) HAD FAILED. I HAVE 50,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE SHOP SAID THAT THEY NORMALLY DO NOT STOCK MANY PARTS BUT THIS WAS ONE THEY ALWAYS KEEP IN STOCK. THE TECHNICIAN CLAIMED HE HAD SEEN 20+ FAILURES IN THE FAST YEAR. RESEARCH ON LINE INDICATED THAT THERE IS MORE THAN 60,000 COMPLAINTS IN FORD VEHICLES REGARDING THE FAILURE OF THIS ETB. THERE WAS ACTION INITIATED BY THE NHTS AND A RECALL WAS WAIVED PROVIDED THAT FORD EXTEND WARRANTY FOR THIS PART. THAT DID NOT...

THROTTLE BODY FAILED CAUSING THE TRUCK TO ENTER LIMP MODE SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH BY BEING REAR ENDED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN TRYING TO ENTER A HWY OR INTERSTATE HWY. MULTIPLE ELECTRONIC MODULE FAILURES SINCE NEW. TRUCK IS A DEATH TRAP.

IMMEDIATELY IT FLASHED A WARNING THAT THE "HILL CLIMB ASSIST" MALFUNCTIONED FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A WRENCH SYMBOL NOTIFYING THAT SERVICE WAS NEEDED THEN ANOTHER WARNING ABOUT THE ADVANCE TRAC SYSTEM THEN BACK TO THE HILL CLIMB ASSIST SYMBOL. ALL OF THIS HAPPENING WHILE THE CAR BEHIND ME IS ALMOST SIDEWAYS TRYING TO AVOID ME. I EVENTUALLY MADE IT TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT SAFETY CONCERN ON FORD F-150 INTAKE THROTTLE FAILURES. I BELIEVE THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PART FOR A DIFFERENT S/N RANGE OF FORD F-150. THIS VIN WAS NOT IN THE LIST. I HAVE A 2015 F150 KING RANCH WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST. IT HAS 41,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE UNTIL YESTERDAY MORNING AND TODAY AROUND LUNCH. AFTER MORNING STARTUP, VEHICLE STUMBLED, HESITATED ON ACCELERATION INTO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE STALLED AFTER APPROXIMATELY DRIVING 1 MILE. WOULD RE-START, ONLY IDLE, THEN STALL WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE AND ATTEMPTED TO RE-ENTER TRAFFIC. I HAD TOWED TO CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS. MY VEHICLE WAS RETURNED OVER TWO WEEKS LATER. THE SERVICE INVOICE OUTLINED THAT THE LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS FOUND BAD, SHORTED AND CONNECTING PLUG TO HARNESS MELTED. THEY REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND REPAIRED HARNESS PLUG. VEHICLE WAS NOT FIXED.
