TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHEN THE CONTACT CHANGED THE OIL IN THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE K FRAME WAS CRACKED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FIELDS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM GLENVIEW (2800 PATRIOT BLVD, GLENVIEW, IL 60026, 847-446-5100) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEFECT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN A QUOTE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT WESTGATE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM DEALER (2695 E MAIN ST, PLAINFIELD, IN 46168, (317) 839-655) IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE CRADLE WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS A RATTLING SOUND THAT WAS COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS WHEN ACCELERATING IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS LIFTING UP FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE HAD CORRODED THROUGH AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE TO HER RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR TIRE REPLACEMENT AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE CRADLE RUST. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" CAR HAS ONLY 70,000 MILES ON IT, BRAND NEW TIRES AND IS IN GOOD SHAPE, EXCEPT FOR RUST ON THE SUBFRAME AND MOTOR CRADLE! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE UNDERCARRIAGE WAS RUSTED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TOOK MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA LIMITED WITH 34,945, (GARAGE KEPT, WELL MAINTAINED) TO MY CHRYSLER DEALER FOR A OIL CHANGE, WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER IS ROTTING, WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT CHRYSLER, 1-800-992-1997 TO INFORM THEM REGARDING THE ROTTING. I DID CONTACT CHRYSLER SPOKE WITH A MICHAEL HE DID CHECK AND INFORMED ME THAT CHRYSLER WAS ONLY COVERING OUT OF WARRANTY FOR THE 2004-2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA'S FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I MAINTAIN THAT CHRYSLER IS RESPONSIBLE AS WELL TO REPAIR MY 2006 UNDER RECALL AS WELL, BOTH CHRYSLER AND NHTSA ARE FULLY AWARE THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT NHTSA HAS MANY COMPLAINTS FROM 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA OWNERS FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT NOTHING IS BEING DONE BY NHTSA, WHY IS THIS, IS IT BECAUSE NO DEATHS HAVE RESULTED? THERE IS A HOLE IN THE FRAME OF THE CAR DUE TO RUST, IT IS APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES AROUND LOCATED NEAR THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE. A CHRYSLER DEALER HAS DOCUMENTED THE HOLE, BUT STATES THE CAR IS NOT PART OF A RECALL. CHRYSLER HAS RECOGNIZED THE UNUSUAL RUSTING IN THE FRAME AND ISSUED A RECALL FOR SOME OF THE SAME MODEL CARS BUILT OVER JUST A FEW MONTHS, MINE WAS NOT BUILT DURING THIS TIME AND THEREFORE DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY REFUSED TO HELP WITH THIS ISSUE SAID NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT REFUSED TO LET ME SPEAK TO ANYONE ELSE CALLED DEALER THEY REFUSE TO HELP WITH ISSUE ADVISED THAT HAVE PROBLEMS SINCE BOUGHT VEHICLE FRONT AND BACK MOTOR MOUNTS BROKE THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASED. *TR
MY "SUBFRAME" BROKE OFF OF THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE ON BOTH SIDES. WHEN I BACKED OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, IT SOUNDED LIKE I HIT SOMETHING, THERE WAS A CLUNK IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. LATER THAT DAY, SOMEONE TOLD ME MY REAR WHEELS LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE TILTING IN. NOT LONG AFTER THAT, MY DAUGHTER HAPPENED TO BE DRIVING BEHIND ME AND CALLED AND SAID THERE WAS A BIG METAL THING HANGING DOWN UNDER MY CAR AND MY REAR WHEELS WERE TILTING IN. I WENT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND IT APPEARS THAT IT RUSTED AND BROKE. THE GARAGE IS CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR PARTS/REPAIR INFORMATION. *TR
UPON TAKING MY CAR IN FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION TODAY I WAS MADE AWARE OF MAJOR SUBFRAME DAMAGE AND HOLES AND RUST. IT HAS APPARENTLY BEEN THIS WAY FOR A WHILE AND I WAS MORE THAN LIKELY SOLD THE CAR THIS WAY FROM THE DEALER WHO DIDN'T CORRECTLY INSPECT THE CAR YET STILL PUT PASSED STICKERS ON IT. NOW MY CAR IS UNUSABLE AND WORTHLESS CONDITION UNLESS I PAY OUT OF POCKET THE WHOLE COST OF REPLACING THE SUBFRAME. I AM VERY UPSET TO READ NOW THAT A LOT OF OTHER PACIFICA OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS BUT CHRYSLER HAS YET TO ISSUE A RECALL AND VERY RARELY COMPENSATES THEIR CUSTOMERS. TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR LUBE OIL FILTER AND SERVICE TECH HAD ME COME IN AND LOOK AND THE RUSTED FRAME.QUOTED $1800 FOR A USED FRAME TO REPLACE. I SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ON LINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND I AM HOPING TO GET SOME HELP WITH REPAIR COST. *TR
I TOOK MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FOR NEW TIRES AND A NEW YORK STATE INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC HAD THE CAR ON THE LIFT AND TOLD ME THE ENGINE CRADLE SUB FRAME WAS RUSTED/ROTTED OUT AND THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE IS 8 YEARS OLD AND HAS ONLY APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES. THE RIGHT AND LEFT SECTIONS OF THE ENGINE CRADLE SUB FRAME WHERE THERE IS WELDING ARE THE ONLY SECTIONS OF THE FRAME THAT ARE RUSTED/ROTTED OUT TO THE POINT WHERE YOU COULD STICK A FINGER THROUGH THE ROTTED OUT SECTION (CAN PROVIDE PICTURES IF NEEDED). I CONTACTED CHRYSLER'S NATIONAL CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCATE DEALERSHIP FOR DIGITAL IMAGING THAT WOULD HELP CHRYSLER DETERMINE IF IT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT OR ALTERNATIVELY OWNER CAUSED. I DID AS INSTRUCTED AND WAS TOLD A FEW DAYS LATER...

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SUB FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,000. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR A BRAKE JOB AND FOR ISSUES WITH THE RIDE AND AN ODOR IN THE INTERIOR CABIN THAT APPEARED AFTER PROLONGED ACCELERATION. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE DUE TO THE SUB-FRAME BEING ROTTED AND THE MOTOR MOUNTS WORN TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE ENTIRELY. THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS COMPROMISED AS WELL, INCLUDING THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. IN ADDITION, MUCH OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS SHOT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. OUR FAMILY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE HAD IT SERVICED MANY, MANY TIMES AT A CHRYSLER FACILITY OVER THE EIGHT YEARS WE OWNED IT. WE WERE NEVER INFORMED ONCE THAT THE SUB-FRAME HAD ANY SIGN OF EXCESSIVE CORROSION UNTIL NOW. WE BELIEVE THE CORROSION IS THE RESULT OF POOR DESIGN AND POSSIBILITY POOR MATERIAL. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC FOR IT'S REGULAR TIRE ROTATION & OIL CHANGE ON JULY 9, 2014. HE CALLED ME TO COME OVER AND SHOWED ME THE RUST ON THE FRONT OF THE SUBFRAME. I'VE RELIGIOUSLY MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE AND HAD NO IDEA THAT IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON THE PACIFICA. ONLY PARKED IN GARAGE. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY ADMITTED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2004 &2005 MODEL (AND THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THEM). AFTER HAVING $1600.00 OF FRONT END WORK ON MY VEHICLE THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT I SHOULD GET RID OF THIS CAR BECAUSE THE SUB FRAME IS SEVERELY ROTTED AND NOT SAFE. THE SUBFRAME IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE , ALSO REFERRED TO AS THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED AWAY TO SUCH AN EXTENT THAT IT WOULD NOT PASS OUR STATE SAFETY INSPECTION . IT IS IN FACT THE CORE STRUCTURE TO WHICH THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION AND ENTIRE FRONT SUSPENSION ARE FASTENED AND WHICH HOLDS THEM ALL IN PLACE. TO PROTECT MYSELF AGAINST THIS SORT OF CATASTROPHE I PURCHASED CHRYSLER'S 8/80 MAXIMUM CARE PLAN FOR $1365.00 IN JULY OF 2008 WHEN I BOUGHT THE PACIFICA. MY PACIFICA WAS STILL WELL WITHIN THAT WARRANTY WITH ONLY 77382 MILES AND WITH THE WARRANTY DUE TO EXPIRE 03/ 26 / 2014 WHEN TO MY UTTER SURPRISE AND SHOCK, CHRYSLER REFUSED TO COVER ANY OF THE REPAIR OR EVEN REPLACEMENT PARTS !
