MY ENGINE CRADLE IS ALMOST RUSTED THRU AND MY SUBFRAME IS AS WELL
MY CAR FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE MY MECHANIC NOTICED IT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS ROTTING AND HAD HOLES IN IT ALL OVER. SO HE SAID THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER PACIFICA'S AND THAT THEY WERE POORLY DESIGNED. TO REPAIR WOULD COST ME ABOUT $2000-2500. I FEEL HORRIBLE AND LIED TO BECAUSE CHRYSLER ISN'T TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT. THAT KIND OF MONEY IS NOT IN MY BUDGET. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW SOMETHING SO IMPORTANT COULD BE OVERLOOKED BY CHRYSLER.....I'M REALLY FED UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS ROTTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THE ENGINE WAS ROTTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
INTAKE PLENUM HAS FAILED CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL OUT WHEN TURNING IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS DEFECT IS IN ALL CHRYSLER PACIFICAS. AS A SECONDARY CONSEQUENCE, THIS DEFECT CAUSES EXCESSIVE EMISSIONS, INCREASING AIR POLLUTION.
TOOK CAR TO MECHANIC AND HE NOTICED THE MOTOR MOUNT SUBFRAME WAS COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT AND CRACKED THAT SUPPORTS THE ENGINE WEIGHT AND SUSPENSION OF THE CAR. THOUGH NO INCIDENT TOOK PLACE YET, THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE HAD THE ENGINE FALL OUT AT ANY TIME.
THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 25 MPH. IT KEPT FEELING AS IF IT WAS STALLING WHEN STOPPED AT LIGHT AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE. HARD TO GO UP INCLINES. AFTER BEING PARKED FOR 4 HOURS WE NOTICED THE CAR WAS SMOKING. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE INSULATION AND THE ENGINE WAS SMOLDERING. IT IS NOW AT EXCALIBUR BEING LOOKED AT. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WHEN WE DISCOVERED THE CAR WAS SMOKING, IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR FOUR HOURS.
ENTERED THE FREEWAY AND AFTER REACHING SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH I HEARD A LOUD SOUND THAT SOUNDED LIKE A SMALL EXPLOSION. SOMEONE DRIVING IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME BEGAN FRANTICALLY POINTING AT THE ENGINE OF MY CAR. IMMEDIATELY I SAW SMOKE AND FLAMES COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR'S HOOD. I PULLED OFF THE EXIT THAT I WAS APPROACHING, PARKED THE CAR AT THE CURB, JUMPED OUT THE CAR, DIALED 911. FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED IN A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND BY THIS TIME ENTIRE ENGINE AND HOOD WAS ON FIRE.THEY PUT THE FIRE OUT. CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE PLACED IN NEUTRAL OR ANY OTHER GEAR, BUT WAS STILL TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMED REPAIRS TO FUEL INJECTORS AND OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE ENGINE ON FEBRUARY 2, 2016. DURING FEB. 2016 INCIDENT THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT GIVE POWER TO MAKE THE CAR ACCELERATE, CAR STARTED SMOKING...
MY VEHICLE STALLS WHEN REMAINING STILL, OR IF DRIVING IT WILL JUST SHUT OFF. TURNING LEFT AROUND A ROUND ABOUT IT WILL SHUT OFF. RECENTLY WHEN STOPPED IT WILL IDLE HIGH THEN SPUTTER AS IF IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF, SOMETIMES IT DOES. I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR VEHICLES MADE UP TO THE DATE NOVEMBER 2004. WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR NOT 11 MONTHS AGO WE WERE NEVER TOLD ABOUT ANY STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. A WEEK AGO WE NOTICED A BAD THUMPING AS WE WERE DRIVING, SO WE TOOK IT TO A CAR SHOP AND THAT'S WHEN THEY FOUND OVER 4 INCHES OF RUST ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ENGINE CRADLE AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
I HAD TAKEN MY CAR IN A WEEK AGO FOR AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR MAKING LIKE A POPPING SOUND WHEN I TURN HARD. WELL AFTER MECHANIC DROVE IT AND THEN PUT IT ON A RACK TO TAKE A LOOK UNDERNEATH AND DO THEIR INSPECTION THEY TOLD US WE CANNOT DRIVE VEHICLE AS IT IS UNSAFE. THE CRADLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND I COULD STICK MY HAND IN IT. AT ANY POINT IN TIME IT COULD HAVE COMPLETELY FELL OFF AND WRECKED MY VEHICLE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. NOW WE ARE GOING TO BE STUCK WITH THE REPAIR BILL. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND SPOKE WITH AN AGENT NAMED BRITTNEY WHOSE ONLY RESPONSE WAS I AM SORRY THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. EVEN AFTER EXPLAINING ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN...
THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTING THROUGH. THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT TO THE GROUND. I NOTICED THIS AROUND THE 12TH OF FEBRUARY 2016.
THE ENGINE MOUNTS HAVE BROKEN, AND BEEN REPLACED, AND BROKE AGAIN. THE FLOORBOARD, HAS RUSTED THROUGH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, AND THE FRAME IS RUSTING OUT. THE SUSPENSION IS BREAKING AND HAS NOW BLOW OUT 2 TIRES. THE ELECTRICAL PANEL /DASH, DOESN'T WORK AND CAUSES OTHER PROBLEMS. I DON'T LIVE BY SALT WATER AND HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL. GAS FUMES COME UP THROUGH THE FLOORBOARD, AND I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS SINCE I TOOK IT OFF OF THE DEALERSHIP. I AM A SINGLE MOM OF 3,AND AM NOT FINDING HELP FROM ANYONE. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME?
THE FRONT MEMBER OF THE CAR HAS ROTTED AWAY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FALL OUT.
WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND FOUND OUT THE SUBFRAME ON THE VEHICLE WAS RUSTED OUT. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. AFTER RESEARCHING I HAVE FOUND MANY POSTS ON THIS HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS ISSUE, IT SEEMS THAT SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THIS PART OF THE VEHICLE. THE CAR IS IN PERFECT SHAPE NO RUST OR CORROSION ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE VEHICLE.
I BROUGHT MY PACIFICA IN FOR SERVICING, AND WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTING AWAY. THEY SAID IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FDA SAID THEY WON'T HELP BY FIXING IT.

2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON 12/12/15 UPON TAKING CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. MECHANIC STATED THAT SUBFRAME IS RUSTED AND HAS A 6 INCH HOLE MEANING THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OFF THE CAR. I DO KNOW THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH 2004 AND 2005 MODELS AND DIDN'T EXPECT TO HEAR THE NEWS ON MY 2006 MODEL.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 210,000.

UPON REGULAR MAINTENANCE, THE AUTO MECHANIC DISCOVERED MY 2006 PACIFICA ENGINE CRADLE FRAME IS TOTALLY RUSTED OUT. HE ADVISED ME THE COST OF REPAIR IS SO HIGH THAT IT IS NOT WORTH TO REPAIR. HE FURTHER REQUIRED ME TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT MY CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS VERY UNUSUAL TO HAVE A SUBFRAME RUSTED THOUGH THE WHOLE METAL FRAME SINCE THE CAR WAS ALWAYS KEPT IN MARYLAND, WE HARDLY HAVE ANY SNOW IN THE LAST 10 YEARS. FROM THE SEARCH ON THE INTERNET, IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS SUBFRAME PROBLEM AFFECTED WAS COMMON IN MANY PACIFICA ON THE ROAD. WE FELT FORTUNATE THAT THE ENGINE HAS NOT DROPPED ON THE GROUND AND LEAD TO A FATAL CRASH. WHY THERE IS NOT RECALL ON THESE PACIFICAS .

DISCOVERED EXCESSIVE RUST ON THE SUBFRAME AND UNDERBODY MEMBERS AFTER TRYING TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. SPECIFICALLY, A "CLICKING" NOISE HAD APPEARED UNEXPECTEDLY DURING TURNING AND THE STEERING WHEEL HAD UNDUE RESISTANCE WHILE TURNING. AFTER CHECKING FOR TIRE PROBLEMS AND OTHER ISSUES, A MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A SUBFRAME FAILURE DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. WE HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA THAT WE PURCHASED USED IN 2008 WITH 26K MILES. IN 2011 WE STARTED EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. SIMULTANEOUSLY, WE CAME UP WITH CODES P0700, P0420 AND P0456 AND HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT , THE CATALYST CONVERTER REPLACED AND NEW FUEL PUMP DUE TO THE EVAP LEAK. IN A MATTER OF MONTHS, WE SPENT $5,900 ON REPAIRS AND IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO PASS INSPECTION. WE WERE STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR AND AFTER CONTACTING CHRYSLER REPEATEDLY, WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE, SO WE WERE FORCED TO MAKE THESE REPAIRS. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH, WE FOUND THAT MANY PACIFICAS HAD MANY OF THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT WE WERE EXPERIENCING AND THAT CHRYSLER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUES.WE HAVE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER SEATS, BLUETOOTH , SIDE VIEW MIRRORS. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHORTENS THE LIFE OF THE BATTERY...
I WAS INFORMED BY ANOTHER CONSUMER THAT THE FRONT END AND ENGINE CRADLE, IN MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ARE RUSTING. THIS RUST PROBLEM IS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO ACTUAL FALL OUT OF VEHICLES. AFTER HEARING OF THIS, I HAD TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS CHECK MY VEHICLE. AFTER BOTH INSPECTIONS I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE IS SEVERELY RUSTED AND IS NOT GOING TO BE SAFE TO DRIVE FOR MUCH LONGER. THE ESTIMATED TIME FRAME I WAS GIVEN IS BETWEEN 6-12 MONTHS. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I DRIVE LOCAL ONLY AND HAVE IT REINSPECTED EVERY THREE MONTHS FOR MY SAFETY. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER'S RECALL CENTER ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO RECALLS ISSUED AT THIS TIME FOR MY VEHICLE AND THEY DO NOT EXPECT THERE TO BE ANY. I CALLED DIRECTLY TO THE CHRYSLER CO. TO HEAR THE SAME THING THAT THE RECALL CENTER TOLD ME AND THAT THEY HAVE NO...
ROCKER ARM FAILURE, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT ON BOTH SIDES. SEARCHED INTERNET AND IS A KNOWN FAILURE WITH MANY PACIFICA CONSUMERS. RESPONSIBLE CAR MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE RECALLED. SAFETY HAZARD PRIMARY FUEL PUMP CRACK ON EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP NOZZLE. EXTERNAL HOSE CONNECTING PRIMARY AND SECONDARY FUEL PUMPS ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE WAS ~3-5 CM TOO SHORT. HOSE WAS STRETCHED TO CONNECT FUEL PUMPS, EVENTUALLY CAUSING THE CONNECTOR NOZZLE TO CRACK (BREAK) AND LEAK FUEL. HOSE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN MODIFIED, BUT OWNERS OF ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE WOULD NEVER BE AWARE OF THIS UNTIL/UNLESS SPECIFIC SERVICE IS PERFORMED. RESULT = COSTLY REPAIR TO REPLACE BOTH FUEL PUMP AND HOSE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR, THE LOWER FRONT, AND THE FRONT UPPER MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED...

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING WITH UNDER 87,000 MILES. WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE STATE INSPECTION PERFORMED I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS CAR WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE ENGINE CRADLE. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND NEEDS OVER $3,600 OF REPAIR WORK DONE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND CAN NOT AFFORD THAT KIND OF REPAIR COST. I FIND IT CRAZY THAT A CAR UNDER 10 YEARS OLD SHOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF RUST DAMAGE. THE VISIBLE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR IS IN PERFECT SHAPE, BUT THE UNDERSIDE IS TOTALLY CORRODED! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING AN INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE DETERIORATED TO THE POINT THAT IT WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

ON MARCH 2, 2015, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS AT FAULT, AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. MY PACIFICA PERFORMED WELL AND SUSTAINED ONLY BODY DAMAGE. HOWEVER, IN REPAIRING THE DAMAGE, THE BODY SHOP FOUND A SUBSTANTIALLY CORRODED ENGINE SUB-FRAME, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $750. THE SAME ISSUE EXISTS WITH EARLIER MODEL PACIFICAS (FOR WHICH I BELIEVE RECALLS EXIST). FIRST BEGAN 11/2013 WHEN HEADED OUT AFTER PICKING UP MY DAUGHTER, SLOWED TO ENTER LEFT TURN LANE (ON MAJOR BUSY INTERSECTION AT NIGHT!) AND ENTIRE CAR SIMPLY DIED - FRIED THE BATTERY (IT WAS ONLY A YR OLD & THE SECOND TIME I HAD REPLACED IT SINCE I PURCHASED IT TWO YRS PRIOR FROM ORIGINAL OWNER) NEARLY WAS HIT BY SEVERAL CARS BEFORE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED (SO DEAD COULDN'T EVEN BE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL!) I TOOK MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I COULDN'T PASS THE IL EMISSIONS TEST. I WAS TOLD THAT MY SUBFRAME WAS VERY RUSTED AND HOLES WERE IN IT. HE TOLD ME THAT THEY FIXED MY CAR SO I CAN PASS EMISSIONS ($900) AND BASICALLY TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT FOR A FEW MONTHS AND GET RID OF IT. THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTING THROUGH LEAVING HOLES, AND FLAKING OFF EVEN WHEN JUST TOUCHED BY HAND. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH 2004 AND 2005 PACIFICAS AS WELL; CHRYSLER EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR THOSE MODEL YEARS, BUT DECIDED NOT TO FOR 2006 FOR SOME REASON. REALLY THESE SHOULD ALL BE RECALLED ANYWAY AS IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE ENGINE SUPPORT IS ROTTEN WITH RUST WHICH COULD EASILY CAUSE MAJOR ACCIDENTS. *TR
