ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED OUT! Safety risk. Had replaced. NEVER TOLD BY CHRYSLER THAT IT WOULD RUST OUT. NOW THE STEERING WHEEL WON’T MOVE! Power steering fluid full. CANNOT DRIVE IT. I’M A 72YO WOMAN WITH CANCER, NO FAMILY, CANNOT AFFORD EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. I NEED MY CAR REPAIRED.

2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING HAS RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE. FOR SOME REASON THIS CAR IS NOT COVERED FOR THE RECALL BUT IT CLEARLY IS AFFECTED BY WHAT EVER THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO COMPLETE ON CAR TO ENSURE IT WOULD REMAIN SAFE. I HAVE A BIG WHOLE AND MOTOR COULD FALL OUT. I NEED HELP ON TRYING TO GET EXPENSIVE ITEM PAID FOR. THE SUSPENSION IS HORRIBLE ALL ISSUES JUST NOT A GOOD CAR AT ALL.
THIS IS THE SECOND 2005 PACIFIC THAT THE ROCKER UNDER THE CAR IS CRACKED AND RUSTED AWAY. I TOOKBTHE CAR INTO MONROE ON JONESTOWN RD HARRISBURG PA AND THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT IT IS SO RUSTED THAT THE MOTOR WILL FALL OUT AND THEY WOULDN'T EVEN DO AN OIL CHANGE FOR ME BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO DAMAGE IT ANY FARTHER.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT END SUSPENSION WAS UNSTABLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION, PROVIDED AN ALIGNMENT MORE THAN THREE TIMES, AND REPLACED THE SHOCK ABSORBER AND UPPER AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS ON BOTH SIDES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE SWAYED LEFT AND RIGHT, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO APPLY FORCE TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL TO CONTROL THE DIRECTION OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT ISSUED ANY RECALLS FOR THE SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TOOK THE CAR IN FOR EXHAUST WORK. THE MECHANIC DID A SAFETY INSPECTION AND TOLD ME THE SUB FRAME IS SEVERELY RUSTED OUT, AND SHOULD BE REPLACED SOON. IF NOT ADDRESSED SOON IT COULD BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD, DUE TO LACK OF DRIVER CONTROL ISSUES.
RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAS BEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTING OUT DUE TO CHRYSLER IMPROPERLY COATING THE FRAMEWORK. I NATURALLY WENT OUT TO LOOK AT MINE TO MAKE SURE IT DID NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FOR A FAMILY VEHICLE AND NOW DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT WITH MY 4 CHILDREN AND CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIRS AS MY SAVINGS WAS USED TO PURCHASE SAID VEHICLE. ONE WOULD THINK AFTER THOUSANDS OF SUCH DANGEROUS CLAIMS THAT THE NHTSA WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS
EXESSIVE CRADLE ROT OR RUST HOLDING IP ENGINE. MAKES IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CAN PUT MY HAND IN FRAME THROUGH RUST HOLE. THIS WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION BY NORTHGATE CHRYSLER ON COLERAIN IN CINCINNATI.THE SERVICE MANAGE SAYS SHE SEES A LOT OF THIS PROBLEM.
AFTER DOING A MAJOR REPAIR OF $800 ON MY CAR FOR A NEW WATER PUMP AND TIMING CHAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT MY CRADLE HOLDING THE ENGINE IN PLACE COULD DROP ANY MINUTE BECAUSE OF THE RUST. MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT HE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DRIVING THIS VEHICLEBECAUSE AT ANYTIME THE EGINE AND STERINGCOLOM COULD FALL OUT ANY MONENT.THE CRADLE HOLD THESE ITEMS IN WERE RUSTED OUT SO BAD.. I LOOKED ONLINE AND NOTICED THERE WAS MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THIS. LET'S GET SOMETHING DONE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. THANK YOU MY MECHANIC TOKE PICTURES OF ALL THIS RUST. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA I GOT MY VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP TO HAVE THE AIR CONDITIONER FIXED. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SHOP TELLING ME MY VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THAT THE SUBFRAME IN THE FRONT IS RUSTED THROUGH. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH PACIFICA ENGINE CRADLES THE COST TO FIX IT WILL BE 4,000 THAT'S WHAT I PAID FOR THE VEHICLE.
SEVERELY RUSTED SUB FRAME. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW. CHRYSLER HAS KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM FOR YEARS BUT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ME TO PERIODICALLY INSPECT THE SUB FRAME. MY SISTER TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE TO ADD FREON TO HAVE IT READY FOR THIS SUMMER.OUR MECHANIC DROVE THE CAR IN TOWN AND BACK TO HIS SHOP AND NOTICE A RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM MY ENGINE. HE INSPECTED IT AND NOTICE THE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE VERY WORN OUT AND THE ENGINE CRADLE COVER WAS VERY LOOSE WHICH WOULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE IN THAT CONDITION. MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA STARTED MAKING NOISE IN FRONT PASSENGER SIDE IN THE SUSPENSION AND WHEEL AREA WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. A SHORT TIME LATER THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL STARTED SHAKING AND WOBBLING UNCONTROLLABLY AT SPEEDS OF 65MPH. THEIR WAS NO WARNING! THANK GOD I WAS ENTERING TOWN AND WAS CLOSE TO HOME. I GOT THE CAR HOME AND HAD FRIEND WHO IS A MECHANIC INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. WHAT HE FOUND WAS SCARY!!!!! THE WHOLE SUB FRAME AND ENGINE CRADLE WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE DUE TO SEVERE RUSTING IN THE EXACT AREA WHERE THE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS ATTACH TO THE FRAME. SUPER BAD DAY WHEN I SHOWED THE PICTURES TO 3 DIFFERENT LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE SHOPS WITH WELL OVER 100 YRS OF EXPERIENCE COMBINED AND ALL INFORMED ME THAT THE ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR WAS 4000.00 UP TO 5500.00. COMPLETELY ABSURD! CAR IS WORTHLESS AND ONLY HAS 100,000 MILES ON IT. YOU...
MY SUB FRAME IS RUSTING OUT TO THE POINT THAT I'M CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE K MEMBER HAD SEVERE CORROSION AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.
CROSS MEMBER UNDER ENGINE RUSTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE ENGINE MOUNTS BREAK AWAY FROM THE ENGINE, CAUSING A ROUGH VIBRATION ON THE FLOOR PAN OF THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING ON 10/31/05, 11/04/05, 10/26/06 TO PRESENT, I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY REPLACE THE ENGINE MOUNTS ON THIS VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE THE BREAKING OF THE MOUNTS AFFECTS THE SUSPENSION OF THE VEHICLE. THE BREAKING OF THE AXLE AND TIE RODS FROM THE PRESSURE OF THE ENGINE JERKING WITH THE MOUNTS BREAK. I'VE BOUGHT ENGINE MOUNTS WITH LIFETIME WARRANTIES BEING I HAVE TO REPLACE THESE MOUNTS SO OFTEN.
DURING ROUTINE WHEEL ALIGNMENT I WAS TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT PERFORM DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE ENGINE CRADLE RUST AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
MY VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A CLUNK NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA AND STOPPED SHIFTING OUT OF SECOND GEAR. I TOOK VEHICLE IN TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR TRANSMISSION SERVICE AND WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE ENGINE CRADLE HAS CORROSION AND HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT THE ENGINE IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT THE VEHICLE WHICH MOST LIKELY CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. THIS WAS DISCOVERED WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS BEING LIFTED ON THE HOIST. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THEY ARE AFRAID TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON THE HOIST BECAUSE SOMEONE COULD GET INJURED WHILE UNDERNEATH IT.
ENGINE CRADLE HAS ROTTED AWAY ON PASSENGER SIDE, WELL ON IT'S WAY ON THE DRIVERS. CROSS MEMBER TWISTS WHEN STEERING AND HANDLING IS DANGEROUS WITH THE MOTOR AND SUB FRAME TWISTING WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP. WE'VE STOPPED DRIVING IT AS DIRECTION OF MECHANIC FOR FEAR OF MOTOR FALLING OUT AND IT HAS IN OTHER CASES! WE NOTICED IT LAST YEAR AFTER SEEING A NEWS REPORT ON THE ISSUE BUT IT WASN'T THIS BAD THEN, NOW WE WON'T DRIVE IT.
THE ENTIRE UNDERSIDE IS RUSTING AND FALLING APART. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM BEING THE CRADLE. IT IS SO BAD THERES CRACKS ALL OVER AND BIG RUST HOLES. THE MECHANIC SHOP TOLD MY WIFE NOT TO DRIVE BECAUSE ITS TO DANGEROUS!! SHE DRIVES SEVERAL YOUNG KIDS AROUND EVERYDAY. SO NOW IT SITS RUSTING EVEN FASTER TILL WE CAN GET IT FIXED. CHRYSLER ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY. OF COURSE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND I'M GLAD THERE'S A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS! IT HAS 120,000 MILES AND TO THINK THE ENGINE COULD DROP OUT WHILE SHE'S DRIVING KIDS AROUND. THAT COULD KILL EVERYONE INCLUDING OTHER DRIVERS AROUND HER. THIS WILL BE MY LAST CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP VEHICLE AND MY KIDS WILL NEVER OWN ONE. IT'S NOT MY FIRST, AND I'VE HAD MAJOR ISSUES WITH EVERY SINGLE ONE. MY FORDS AND CHEVY'S HAVE NEVER FALLEN APART LIKE CHRYSLER/DODGE DOES.
SUB-FRAME BROKE ON ME. IT IS THE EXACT PART THAT WAS RECALLED FOR THE 2004 PACIFICA. HOWEVER THERE IS NO RECALL FOR 2005? THE SUB FRAME BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING, WITH A CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY IN THE "SALT BELT" CHRYSLER'S SELF ADMITTED INSUFFICIENT PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE SUB FRAME OF THESE CARS, SHOULD BE ENOUGH PROOF, TO RAISE EYEBROWS AND REMEDY THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPAIR ALL THE DAMAGE THIS CAUSED, AND PACIFICA'S CANNOT HOLD A RESELL VALUE, AS SELLING THIS TO ANOTHER PERSON, IS JUST LIKE HANDING THEM A TICKING TIME BOMB. THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTING OUT CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE. THE REST OF THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE
DEALER REPORTED ON 8/15/2017 THAT MY CAR HAS AN ENGINE CRADLE PROBLEM. THERE ARE HOLES IN THE CRADLE NOW DUE TO RUSTING. HE ALSO TOLD ME IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM.
DUE TO FAILURE OF THE CORROSION PROTECTION ON THE ENGINE CRADLE RUST HAS CREATED HOLES IN THE CRADLE THAT SUPPORTS THE ENGINE. OVER CERTAIN ROUGH ROADS THERE IS A KNOCKING SOUND.
OUR VEHICLE HAS 88,000 MILES AND IT JUST FAILED A SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE THE ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTING/RUSTED AND THE ENGINE IS IN JEOPARDY OF FALLING OUT OF THE CAR. THE DEALER (GOOD BROTHERS DODGE) ACKNOWLEDGES THE SAFETY CONCERN AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THESE. THEY SUPPLIED A $3,200 ESTIMATE TO REPAIR. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE SHOULDN'T BE DRIVEN. THERE APPEARS TO BE A PENDING CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS VERY ISSUE AND CHRYSLER UNWILLINGNESS TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN CODE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000.

SUBFRAME OF THE ENGINE CRADLE. I WAS TOLD DURING LAST INSPECTION (APRIL 2016) THAT THE SUBFRAME OF THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED. THE SAME WAS CONFIRMED ON 3/18/17 AT FIRESTONE SERVICE CENTER, BENSALEM, PA. IT'S REPAIR WILL COST A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT AND IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AS THE THE ENGINE MAY FALL OUT. IT IS A VERY HIGH SAFETY RISK.
MY CROSS-MEMBER HAS A FOOT LONG CRACK IN IT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.THE RUSTING OF THE CROSS MEMBER WAS FIRST SPOTTED ON AUGUST 5. 2015.

WHEN I TOOK OUR 2005 PACIFICA IN FOR ITS ANNUAL VA STATE INSPECTION ON NOVEMBER 1, 2016 IT DID NOT PASS. THE PRIMARY CAUSE FOR FAILURE WAS THE DISCOVERY OF SUBSTANTIAL RUSTING OF THE "SUB K FRAME." IT WAS RUSTED THROUGH ON THE RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE FRAME. I WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR AS THE ENGINE COULD FALL AND DROP OUT OF ITS CRADLE! THE RUSTING WAS NOT VISIBLE 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN THE CAR WAS LAST HOISTED IN THE AIR FOR AN OIL CHANGE, SO I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT IT RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THE MECHANICS STATED THEY HAD NEVER SEEN SUCH RUSTING, AND THEY WERE SURPRISED TO SEE IT ON A CAR THAT WAS OTHERWISE WELL MAINTAINED AND IN SUCH GOOD CONDITION FOR A CAR WITH ALMOST 175,000 MILES. I LIVE IN THE NORTHERN NECK AREA OF VA WHICH...

THE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000. UPDATED 01/05/16*LJ UPDATED 02/14/17.*JB
I TOOK MY CAR INTO TO HAVE A SUSPENSION CHECK O REPLACED THE STRURSS WHEN MY MECHANIC CALLED ME AND TOLD MY THAT THE FRAME OR ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED OUT. HE TOOK SOME PICTURES AND THERE ARE HOLES IN THE CRADLE. HE ADVISED ME NOT TO PUT ANYMORE MONEY INTO THIS CAR.
JUST GOT NEW TIRES NO MENTION, THEY USED FLOOR JACKS. GETTING NEW FRONT STRUTS AND REAR WHEEL SPINDLES (GETTING READY FOR WINTER) AND MY MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE CRADLE ROT AND SAID HE WOULDN'T TOUCH IT AND EXPLAINED THE SAFETY ISSUES RELATED. COST POTENTIALLY ASSOCIATED WITH REPAIR. COST TO REPAIR IS MORE THAN THE VEHICLE IS WORTH.

THE CAR UNDER IT IS KNOCKING AND HITTING AGAINST THE CAR ITSELF WHEN YOU GO OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE BREAKS SLIP UNLESS THE ABS LIGHT IS ON AND THE POWER STEERING COMPARTMENT IS CONSTANTLY EMPTY WHICH CAUSES THE STEERING TO WHINE UNTIL YOU FILL IT BACK UP.

TAKATA RECALL I RECENTLY TOOK A LOAN OUT AND PURCHASED A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FROM A DEALER NEARBY. WHEN MY MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT HE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE DEALERSHIP PASSED THE SAFETY INSPECTION A MONTH AGO. HE SAID THE RUST WAS SPREAD ALL ACROSS FRONT ENGINE CRADLE OR THE VEHICLE. HE DID NOT THINK I SHOULD BE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE ENGINE COULD DROP OUT DUE TO THE RUST. LOOKING UP ANY SAFETY RECALLS AND NOTICED THERE WERE NONE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2011 ALL I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR IS PROBLEMS AFTER PROBLEMS. FIRST I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING IT WAS SOMETHING ELECTRICAL THEN NOW MY SUB FRAME IS NO GOOD IT IS ROTTED OUT RUST ALL OVER THE SUB FRAME AND I HAVE TWO LITTLE GIRLS IN MY CAR ALL THE TIME AND TO TOP IT OFF I'M STILL PAYING ON THIS CAR TO THE BANK WHAT DO I DO NOT. I NEED SOMEONES HELP THIS IS TO MUCH MONEY FOR ONE PERSON TO PAY WHEN THIS WAS NOT MY DOING IT WAS THE CAR MAKERS DOING.
VEHICLE INSPECTION REVEALED CRADLE WAS RUSTED THROUGH AN IS A ROAD HAZARD.
RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE,FRAME IS IN BAD SHAPE AND CAN BRAKE LEADING ENGINE TO FALL OUT FROM VEHICLE.THIS MAY LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT.
MY DAUGHTERS 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING EDITION DOESN'T LOOK BAD PHYSICALLY AND RUNS WELL BUT AFTER ROUTINE TIRE ROTATION WE WERE TOLD AND SHOW THAT THE CROSS MEMBER OR SUBFRAME ENGINE CRADLE IS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. WE WERE TOLD BY CHRYSLER EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY FOR THOSE MADE 2-23 TO 3-31-14 SO CAN'T ASSIST. THIS IS A GOOD CAR BUT NOW UNSAFE AND WE DON'T HAVE A TON OF $ TO SINK INTO AN OLDER CAR.
WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR I CAN HEAR MY ENGINE HITTING THE WALLS OF MY CAR. IT IS LOOSE AND ALSO THE BREAKS ABS LIGHT IS ON THROUGHOUT MY DRIVE. IF IT IS NOT ON THAN THE BREAKS SLIDE.
PURCHASED 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA LIMITED 4 YEARS AGO. CURRENTLY 109,000 MILES.. HAD BEEN HEARING A CLUNKY NOISE FOR A SHORT TIME TOOK IT IN TO GET CHECKED😔 MECHANIC CAME BACK WITH GHASTLY NEWS. TIE RODS,BUSHINGS, WATER PUMP,REAR AXLE SHAFT OILSEAL AND WORST OF ALL CRADLE WAS RUSTING THROUGH. OVER $7000.00 TO FIX ALL. I THOUGHT I WOULD FAINT. NO WAY COULD I DO ALL THE REPAIRS. UPON READING ALL COMPLAINTS CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THE RUSTIMG PROBLEM. SHAME ON THEM FOR LETTING THESE CARS ON THE ROAD KNOWING THIS COULD HAPPEN TO FAMILIES PURCHASING THEIR VEHICLES AND POSSIBLY HAVING A FATAL ACCIDEMT OCCURING WHEN THE ENGINE FALLS OUT.
ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED OUT. COMPLETELY FAILED. ENGINE IS NEAR TO FALLING OUT.
MECHANIC NOTICED RUSTED OUT SUB-FRAME WHEN DOING REGULAR SERVICE ON VEHICLE. TOLD US IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
