2024 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 Electrical System Problems

The check engine light goes on continously and it goes to limp mode. The truck cannot be driven daily and most of the time is in the dealer fixing the updates or computer. It is not an equipment problem but a computer problem.

I was leaving my farm property after loading my truck and tailgate and drove home 20 miles. At some point in the drive my tailgate dropped and fell onto the trailer tongue. This caused damage to my tailgate. I have called the dealer and they informed me there was a recall on the tailgate latch but they completed the work on the recall defect. I am questioning this and want to understand what to do now. I don't trust the tailgate and the truck has no warning system for when the tailgate drops like a door open signal.

Instrument cluster stopped working, I have no speed or fuel remaining indicators. Dealer completed software recall work which did not fix the issue. Replacement is on back order so I am unable to drive the vehicle for an unknown amount of time.

I bought my track about a year ago. Within the first week of owning it. Multiple times a week, when I start it there is no sound. No radio, music, blinkers, etc. Absolutely no sound. Some of the time once I get to where im going, turn it off. Once I start it again it's back. The other times takes a couple times to hear it again. When I asked the dealership, I was told it's a known issue. 9 months later it still does it. Some weeks once or twice. Other weeks up to 10 times. I pd alot of money for my truck and yes I expect it to have no problems like this.

While pulling my Vilano fifth wheel trailer to Alabama from my home state of Texas the driver information center alerted me that the trailer brakes were disconnected. Then a short while later it alerted that trailer brakes were connected. This situation continued for the entire trip to Alabama. My trailer brake controller routinely does not allow me to adjust the brake gain. Multiple times (and on recorded video), I’ve had instances where I could not increase gain while hauling heavy loads in the trailer and this has caused me to lose my ability to stop the vehicle effectively. This has nearly cause accidents a few times while hauling on the interstate, and down my mountain road. The driver must be able to adjust trailer gain at any point while operating the vehicle. This issue has happened with multiple trailers. I’ve taken the vehicle in multiple times and had the brake controller components replaced but this issue still exists and the dealerships are unable to resolve. But other 2024 Chevy 2500 have had recalls for it. Would like a recall for my vin die to this being an issue if an accident occurs. Traveling with multiple 10K pound trailers and no brakes.

Trailer brake control module in vehicle will have intermittent loss of trailer brakes. Dealership stated they will not fix the issue if they are unable to replicate it. Even with video or picture evidence. Dealership has been uncooperative during the process.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary, being driven, or parked, the audible alerts failed to operate as needed. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary, the audible chime failed to sound whenever the doors were opened, or the seat belt buckle was unlatched. No warning light was illuminated. While driving with a trailer connected the display in the truck will say trailer disconnected. Then the light will go away and come back on. The trailer plug and the trailer are connected and the plug is tight. When this happens the trailer braking system is disabled (trailer has no brakes) I can plug the same trailer to Ford or Dodge with no issues. Have had the Chevy to the dealer 4 times now and they are unable to duplicate the problem. I would like to report a hazardous issue with the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado trailer braking power mode. The trailer braking system turns on and off when the loaded trailer is connected; this represents a security hazard since this truck is used for work and we move heavy pieces of metal and glass. This issue was reported several times to the dealership Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet in Coconut Creek, FL. Also, the manufacturer provided a letter indicating the replacement of some parts. As indicated, I took the truck to Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet in Coconut Creek, FL, on [XXX] for the corresponding service; however, the truck is still presenting the same issues. We tried different trailers, including a U-Haul trailer, and still had the same dysfunctionality. Please advise how to proceed. When pulling trailers I frequently get warning to check trailer wiring. I have gotten this warning with every trailer I have towed to include, my travel trailer(camper), livestock trailer, car hauler trailer and enclosed cargo trailer. It is intermittent but frequent. I am unsure if trailer brakes will engage during this failure.

Charging system failed The system failed with no warning, we were traveling on a country curvy road and about to descend a grade. With the charging system failure, the truck lost power to brakes and steering. It's at the dealer, being inspected etc. No warning lights or message until the failure occured, then a battery light appeared and a charging system failed message.

While towing our camper that has solar power our trailer brakes would randomly disconnect. Sometimes for a few seconds but several times for several minutes. After checking all wiring, doing some research and trial & error we discovered that it is a problem with the truck and the solar on the camper that is making the brakes disconnect. This happens randomly but quite often and it happened to us several times while towing in the mountains of Colorado. It is definitely a safety hazard to not have the trailer brakes. We have towed the same camper with other trucks including the 2023 Chevy that we owned before this truck and have never had a problem.

Truck sends safety lights on dash one day and the next day they go off. Truck is running rough and has subpar fuel mileage driving 55 to 65 miles per hour. Esc light comes on and steering wheel changes sides to drive straight. Information screen goes black and flashes while driving. Truck has been in and out of the shop since July. For more than 70 days total. I received a printout from a Chevy dealership in Georgia that indicated the main computer system lost communication with other components 11 times. It indicated it lost communication with the brake system control module three times and lost communication with the engine control module twice. Not sure exactly what that means, but it sounds rather serious. I've been trying since July to get GM or the dealership to buyback or replace my vehicle. Neither had ANY interest whatsoever. After I provided the attached photo to GM, they decided to buy my vehicle back. Seems that this issue is bigger than I know and surely needs some oversight from NHTSA so no one gets seriously injured due to GM's carelessness to address issues when they were brought up.

On July 1st, 2023, I purchased a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 from Orielly Chevrolet in Tucson, Arizona. On July 2nd, 2023, an error message popped up on the dash, “Park Assist Blocked See Owner’s Manual”. It continued to happen on and off til this very day. The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while hauling a travel trailer at various speeds, the check trailer wiring warning message intermittently flashed on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle and the travel trailer to the respective dealers; however, neither dealer were able to determine the cause of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered a TSB: 23-NA-113 which he linked to the failure. The bulletin stated that the travel trailer brake might become disabled due to a solar panel battery charger. The contact stated that whenever the trailer battery was fully charged and had a higher charge than the vehicle’s battery, there could be a back feed into the trailer brake power module causing a shutdown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500.

The integrate trailer brake control system malfunctions when a trailer equipped with solar panels is hooked up. I recently rented a newer travel trailer and kept on getting a warning that the brake control system was disengaging. Every 30-60 seconds the system would connect and the quickly disconnect. I troubleshooted by hooking up a trailer without solar and the brake controller worked as intended. I also troubleshooted with the trailer by hooking up a 2015 Ford F-350 and the trailer brakes worked as intended. This is a known issue among the 2024 Chevy 2500 and 3500 owners that have reported the same issue. Replacing the trailer control system does not fix the issue.

The GM brake controller will disconnect with the trailer being pulled. You get a message on the information center that the brake controller has lost connection with the trailer or no trailer brakes are available, something to that effect. This has happened up to 5 times in one day. You never know when this will happen. Pulling a 7,000lb trailer and not knowing when you will have 'no brakes' is dangerous. Instrument Cluster screen blinking On/Off and showing "Service Instrument Cluster" message. Lost all indications of speed, warnings, gauges, gear selection. Could not tell if vehicle was performing correctly. All sensors appeared to be working, but indications to driver missing.

I kept getting “check trailer wiring” messages followed by a “trailer disconnected” message while towing a trailer and the trailer brakes would not engage. The trailer would “reconnect” and then “disconnect” constantly while driving. I lost my trailer brakes while trying to brake down a hill. Not having working trailer brakes is extremely dangerous.

If our trailer is plugged into the truck the warning "check trailer wiring" pops up. The warning ("check trailer wiring") would display and then the message "trailer connected" would generally happen. The trailer breaks disconnect during this time making it extremally dangerous for us and anyone else on the road if we need to stop quickly. This is not an issue with our new trailer as we pulled it with a 2017 Silverado with no issues.

Truck will not stay connected to our trailer brakes. We have a 2023 Grand Design Reflexion 270BN. The truck stays connected about 30% of the time. 70% of the time we get the following warnings “Check trailer wiring” or “service trailer brakes” and the trailer brakes are disconnected. Grand design has said this is 100% on the truck side. GM needs to find an update for this dangerous problem. We almost got into two crashes on a 2000 mile trip. Multiple people are in the same situation as us.

Pulling my 5th wheel camper and the trailer braking system goes in and out. It says, "check trailer brake wiring" and "service trailer brake". I have pulled same camper with a 2020 Chevrolet and didn't experience any issues. I have found some forums discussing that it's a GM problem with a service bulletin from GM #6379278 stating GM is working on the issue. This is a very concerning issue especially when towing over 10,000 lbs.

While pulling fifth wheel camper the the electronic brake controller looses connection and brakes on the trailer do not work leaving only the truck brakes to stop both truck and trailer. General Motors claims this is caused due to the solar panel on the trailer charging the trailer battery more than the truck battery which back feeds into the system. This problem only occurred on the 2024 models. The same trailer was pulled with a 2021 model with no issues. This is a known problem which Chevrolet has a service bulletin stating such. Reference document # 6379278. At this time there has not been a fix. This is a safety hazard because there is no warning as to when the trailer brakes will stop working.

When my fifth wheel trailer is attached via the seven pin plug, the truck intermittently fails to recognize the trailer and I get a warning "check trailer wiring." When I get that warning, the integrated trailer brake controller fails to activate the trailer brakes. After a while I get the message "trailer brakes connected" and then the trailer brake controller activates the trailer brakes. This problem does not occur when the trailer is attached to a different truck. Apparently this is a well-known problem that GM has failed to correct or inform customers about. The vehicle has, on numerous occasions, gone into a "Check Right Front Turn Lamp" or "Check Left Front Turn Lamp" while operating the turn signals. Vehicle then goes into "hyperflash" on the turn signal indicating a fault when the error message appears and renders the signal non-functional. Vehicle does not return to normal until it is shut off and restarted. Vehicle was taken to dealer for service on this item, the computer was re-flashed with latest software but problem persisted. Dealer indicated they believed there was no issue with the turn signal lights, it was a software issue in the truck. Servicing dealer is Jim Norton Chevrolet in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I have noted others in internet research with the same model of truck and similar LED lighting equipment experiencing the same fault.

When towing my travel trailer with the 2500HD, the electronic trailer brake randomly connects and disconnects while driving. This results in the unsafe operation of the trailer because the brakes aren't functional and puts others at risk if stopping was required during the outage. GM/Chevy has created Document #6379278 which admits that this is their issue but they don't seem to be providing a fix.

Brand new truck, 1st time towing through mountains of Kentucky, we kept getting "check trailer wiring", "trailer brakes disconnected" "service trailer brakes" I did research and took the truck in for service. They found nothing wrong, but said we should get an adapter and gave me the name of two. We had the camper checked as well, no issues. Many complaining on blogs about this issue and many have also been told to get an adapter. Really? why would I need a $200 adapter and the fact they already knew which two I should buy, tells me, they know its an issue with the vehicle. When truck is connected to a trailer with electric brakes, intermittently a check trailer wiring warning flashes on the dashboard screen. When this happens you do not have trailer brakes. It has happened on multiple trailers with 7 pin connections. I have taken it to the dealer twice with no fix other than GM recommending a non GM trailer receptacle. I have taken my trailer to the dealer and they could find no problems. Basically the 2024 Silverado 2500 HD when hooked to trailers with industry standard 7 pin 12 volt receptacle loses trailer brakes. This condition potentially is fatal and a definite hazard to public safety on roads. problem was reproduced at the Chevy dealership in Pensacola Fl. The problem was reproduced on multiple trailers at Great American RV in DeFuniak Springs Fl.

While towing my fifth wheel trailer, the electric trailer brakes module shuts off with a message "check trailer wiring". The plug was firmly seated and it caused issues whether using the in bed plug or the bumper plug.
