NHTSA Complaint #11539630 — 2024 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500

When my fifth wheel trailer is attached via the seven pin plug, the truck intermittently fails to recognize the trailer and I get a warning "check trailer wiring." When I get that warning, the integrated trailer brake controller fails to activate the trailer brakes. After a while I get the message "trailer brakes connected" and then the trailer brake controller activates the trailer brakes. This problem does not occur when the trailer is attached to a different truck. Apparently this is a well-known problem that GM has failed to correct or inform customers about. Please see the comments at [XXX] . This is a serious safety hazard as my trailer brakes have failed to activate while descending some very steep grades in the mountains.
