The steering wheel keeps locking up while driving fast/slow or turning. Everything shuts off, then back on and all codes flash. My car literally locks up, it’s really unsafe when I can’t control the vehicle. Almost hit another car, due to steering wheel locking up. Only thing I was told at the Chevy dealer house was there were no recalls. So they wouldn’t look unless they got to charge me. This issue started happening about five months ago. And I drive like a grandma.
The electrical power steering goes in and out while driving. This issue is intermittent. Fuses and ground on electrical system have been check with no issues found.

I financed my car through drivetime in june 2019 and from the time i got the car i have been having electrical issues. My car has also been in a really bad accident prior to me purchasing it and when i tried to return it. They just kept telling me to go to pep boys because I had a 60 day warranty to fix any issues. I should not have had to take my car to any mechanic if I got it from a dealership. I now have really mad transmissin issues and I havent even had the car for 3 years. I believe this company sold me a lemon and i dont know how to prove it. I dont have the money to fix all the issues.
My car often loses power unexpectedly in the middle of a turn in an intersection and once while exiting a busy road. Twice it has died upon arrival at destinations and yet the battery has indicated when tested as fully charged. The key indicator is the radio system turns off for a second or two and then automatically restarts and the car with it. When this occurs the car is unable to be driven as the wheel will not turn. I have informed the local Chevy dealership near me and test was done with no error codes reported. What I have had to do is remove the battery cable and replace it and it seems to make the car work for a little longer until it starts the process again with the radio. I had work done to repair the window motor and that is when I first notified Chevy...
For about a year now my 2014 Chevy Cruze’s steering wheel will lock up for a few seconds while I am driving (at speeds up to 80MPH) - which is extremely dangerous. When this happens, several lights will then pop up on my dashboard and messages are shown saying “service power steering” “service traction control”. The radio turns off, the lights inside the car turn off, and the back up camera stops working. The engine light has been on and will not go off. I have already replaced the transmission and the starter as well as the fuel pump. I was told by my mechanic to just get rid of the car as it has way too many issues to even attempt repairing. The contact stated that it felt as if the vehicle had lost power however, the vehicle was still running. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where no failure could be diagnosed as the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that OnStar was also unable to diagnose the failure. The contact stated that the battery cables were replaced however, the failure continued. The contact stated that she believed that the dealer contacted the manufacturer as she was told by the dealer that they had spoken to an engineer. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
Several times the steering wheel mechanism locked up while driving and I was unable to steer it momentarily. During that time several warning lamp indicators intermittently illuminated, and the radio shorted, and the instrument panel flashed or blacked out. Also, there is a coolant leak. I have the vehicle at the dealership repair center and they haven’t reproduced the above problems, but did find a problem with a engine coolant leak from the water pump and a radiator hose in which they are repairing.

This morning, I was making a right turn into a neighborhood when I hit a small hole in the road and the car turned off. It alerted me that it was power steering and airbags. Now when I drive into my driveway it may turn off because of the curb, when I turn into work it may turn off because there is a small area where the road has small holes.
THIS HAS OCCUR MORE THAN A HANDFUL OF TIMES. THIS IS THE MOST RECENT ONE, I STOPPED AT THE GAS STATION TURNED OFF MY CAR AND WHEN I WENT TO START IT NOTHING WAS WORKING NO LIGHTS, NO POWER ANYWHERE. I WIGGLED THE BATTERY CABLE AND IT CAME BACK ON BUT, I HAD TO TURN THE KEY ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES FOR IT TO FINALLY START. AS I'M LEAVING THE GAS STATION I TURN TO THE LEFT AND I HAVE NO POWER STEERING NONE WHATSOEVER. THEN IT CAME BACK SECONDS LATER I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AND THE WHEEL JERKED ON ITS ON AND IT SAID SERVICE POWER STEERING AND ONCE AGAIN I HAD NO POWER STEERING. IT WENT OFF MOMENTS LATER. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION IT LOST ALL POWER AGAIN.
THIS CAR IS CRAZY. STARTS ON ITS OWN IF KEY LEFT IN IGNITION. RADIO GOES ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY. POWER STEERING TRIES TO GO OUT. LIGHTS UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND IT NEEDS A RECALL.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CAR WILL SAY ROLL DRIVER WINDOW UP AND DOWN. THEN IT LOST POWER STEERING FOR A FEW SECONDS. PARKED IT AT MY HOUSE WENT TO START IT AND IT LOST ALL POWER BUT THE FLASHERS STAYED ON. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PASSER TWO WEEKS. I TALKED TO ANOTHER PERSON THAT HAD THE SAME CAR AND THEIRS DID THE SAME THING.

WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT 30 MPH MY WHEEL LOCKED UP AND A MESSAGES APPEARED ON MY DASH SAYING POWER STEERING FAIL. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER MY WHEEL AND THAT HAPPENED TWICE IN A 5 MINUTE DRIVE. MY WHEEL NOW HAS RESISTANCE WHEN TURNING. THE SAME NIGHT I WAS DRIVING 5 MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD AND EVERYTHING INSIDE OF MY CAR TURNED OFF- DASHBOARD, LIGHTS, RADIO, I'M PRETTY SURE MY CAR EVEN TURNED OFF FOR THAT SECOND AND THAT HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE SPAN OF A 5 MINUTE DRIVE, ALL WHILE MY WHEEL IS STILL RESISTING TO TURN. ON A DIAGNOSIS NOTHING APPEARS...
IT LOOSES POWER. ALL DASH LIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING, THE RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF AND THE CAR LOOSES POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING (THIS IS MAJOR AND I'VE HAD A FEW SCARY MOMENTS WHILE TURNING). AT TIMES THE KEY WILL GET STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND IT WILL NOT START. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE KEY OUT IS TO POP THE HOOD AND JIGGLE THE BATTERY CABLE, IT WILL THEN RELEASE THE KEY. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE DIRECTION MY VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING. I APPLIED MY BRAKE, TO KEEP FROM HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN I PRESSED MY BRAKE THE STEERING WHEEL UNLOCKED BRIEFLY THEN LOCKED AGAIN. I JUST HAD MY CAR SERVICED NOT TOO LONG AGO FOR A COOLANT LEAK ON THE ENGINE HOSE. I HAVE ALWAYS KEPT UP WITH OIL CHANGES AS WELL AS ALL OTHER FLUID LEVELS CHECKED REGULARLY. I FIRST BEGAN THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY, HOWEVER I HAVE HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AND IT IS STILL BASICALLY NEW.

MULTIPLE DASH AND SYSTEM FAILURES RESULTING IN STALLS AND LOSS OF STEERING AND POWER. ESSENTIALLY LOCKING UP. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITIONS IN TRAFFIC. MOST RECENTLY DASH INDICATING ANTI-THIEF DETERRENT SYSTEM WARNING. THESE CONDITIONS HAVE HAPPENED OVER THE LAST FULL YEAR. DEALER DIAGNOSIS WAS NILL. I HAVE BEEN HAVING TO REVIEW PUBLIC VIDEOS FOR HELP. MAY OR MAY NOT BE A NEGATIVE CABLE BATTERY ISSUE BUT CHEVROLET HAS YET TO RECALL THIS! I AM FEARING FOR MY SAFETY.
WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DEF SYSTEM TWICE, REPLACED TWO KNOCK SENSORS, HAD TO REPLACE THE DIESEL PARTILEC SENSOR, AMONG MANY OTHER TIME BEING THE SHOP. THIS CAR HAS NOT RAN RIGHT SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. NOW, EVERYTIME WE START THE CAR AND BEGIN TO DRIVE IT, WE GET A WARNING ABOUT THE STABILTRAK NOT WORKING, THEN POWERSTEERING GOES OUT, AND ENTIRE CAR SHUTS DOWN AND GOES BLACK WHEN THE CAR IS POWERED OFF. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITHIN THESE VEHICLES.
WHILE DRIVING LONG DISTANCES ON STRAIGHT HIGHWAYS THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. GM ISSUED A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #14232A FOR POWER STEERING STICK-SLIP THAT LISTS 2011-2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE MODELS, BUT WHEN GM SEARCHES THIS SPECIFIC VIN IT DOES NOT LIST AN AVAILABLE SERVICE BULLETIN. CONTACTED GM TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED PER THE SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT BUT WAS INFORMED THAT IT WASN'T COVERED PER THE VIN SEARCH. ALL THE CRITERIA MATCH THE BULLETIN (YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, TIME AND MILEAGE) AND THE KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT BY GM , AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE ABOVE-MENTIONED SERVICE BULLETIN.
THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS WHEN I AM DRIVING. IT'S EXTREMELY NOTICEABLE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR MAKING TURNS. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMES ON AND OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OPERATIONAL. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY RADIO WILL GO ON AND OFF AND THE AIR CONDITIONER AND THE HEATER WILL STOP WORKING. I HAVE 5 CHILDREN AND 3 STILL AT HOME AND I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT'S ALL WE HAVE.
I HAVE A 2014 CHEVY CRUZE LS, 115,000 MILES AND PROPERLY MAINTENANCED. AFTER HITTING 100,000 MILES THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO BE COMPLETELY FALLING APART. RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE OIL COOLING SYSTEM DUE TO IT BEING CRACKED. AFTER THAT WAS FIXED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. COME TO FIND OUT THE ENTIRE INTAKE MANIFOLD NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THAT ISSUE IS RESOLVED, MY STEERING WHEEL IS NOW STICKING DEAD CENTER WITH A LACK OF MOVEMENT WITH TURNING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON MORE THAN TWO OCCASIONS, THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED TO FUNCTION WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALER (THORNTON CHEVROLET, 180 S MAIN ST, MANCHESTER, PA 17345, (717) 266-8800) WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PLANNED ON TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND SUGGESTING TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I HAVE HAD REPEATED ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. IT STARTED WITH THE RADIO SHUTTING ON & OFF ON ITS OWN. THEN THE STABILITRACK STARTED FLASHING ON. THE FIRST FEW TIMES THAT WAS ALL IT WAS, BUT IN THE FALL OF 2017, THAT SENSOR WOULD COME ON & MY BRAKES & STEERING WERE AFFECTED. IN ADDITION, THE CAR WILL HAVE MOMENTS WHERE IT BLANKS OUT JUST BRIEFLY WHILE DRIVING, USUALLY NOTICED BY THE RADIO GOING OFF & ON. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE KEY GET LOCKED IN THE IGNITION. YESTERDAY, 6/17/18, I WENT TO START MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT & SEVERAL SENSORS CAME UP, BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, STABILITRACK, & POWER STEERING. DRIVING 70 MPH DOWN HIGHWAY,TURN TURN SIGNAL ON TO CHANGE LANES AND, LOSS OF POWER STEERING, RADIO SHUTS OFF AND SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT COMES ON. ALL HAPPENING SIMULTANEOUSLY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE 1ST TIME I NEARLY RAN INTO A PARKED VEHICLE WHILE TURNING INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 50MPH POWER STEERING QUIT WITHOUT ANY WARNING

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED FROM A DEALERSHIP 27 DAYS AGO. TWO DAYS AGO I WENT TO RESTART CAR AFTER A SHORT DRIVE AND THE CAR DID NOT CRANK, DASH REMAINED BLACK, KEY WAS STUCK IN IGNITION. MY DAUGHTER IN LAW TOLD ME TO POP THE HOOD AND UPON WIGGLING BATTERY CABLES FREED THE KEY FROM STUCK POSITION AND I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE HOME. THIS IS WHEN I LEARNED THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME OF OCCURRENCE. I WAS HOSPITALIZED SEVERAL DAYS AFTER PURCHASE AND MY KIDS USED THE CAR. THEY NEGLECTED TO TELL ME TWICE THEY LOST POWER WHILE IN MOTION AND CAR SHUT OFF. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHILE EXITING OFF THE FREEWAY. THE SECOND WAS WHILE MAKING TURN AFTER IDLING AT A RED LIGHT SEVERAL MINUTES. BOTH TIMES THE VEHICLE POWER STEERING CEASED AND STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. ON ANOTHER OCCASION THEY EXPERIENCED...
HEAT WONT WORK IN COLD WEATHER. LOOKED UP AND SEEN TONS OF THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE WITH A RECALL FOR HEAT BLOCK. ALSO FRONT END AXEL SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO SNAP. I CONTACTED CHEVY THEY WERE NO HELP. ITS OUR ONLY CAR RIGHT NOW AND WE HAVE A CHILD. NOT SAFE AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED.
NOTCHY OR STICK/SLIP FEELING OF STEERING WHEEL NEAR THE CENTER POSITION AT OR ABOVE 45 MILES PER HOUR, CONDITION IS CONSTANT, NOT INTERMITTENT! CHEVROLET REPRESENTATIVE TELLS ME THAT MY PARTICULAR VIN NUMBER IS NOT AFFECTED.
OVER MY ENTIRE DRIVE HOME TONIGHT, I HAD MY STEERING WHEEL "STICK" WHILE DRIVING ON STRAIGHT AREAS OF ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE DID THIS MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES AND IN ORDER TO GET FEEDBACK FROM THE VEHICLE IN TERMS OF STEERING, I HAD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL (LESS THAN 1/10TH OF TURN) TO THE RIGHT IN ORDER TO FEEL THE VEHICLE HAD CONTROL. WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY, THE CAR WOULD JERK AS IT REGAINED CONTROL. HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON ICY ROADS, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE SEVERE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR AS IT IS RIGHT NOW. I HAVE HEARD AND READ MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ISSUE. IT'S INTERMITTENT, SO IT IS HARD TO DIAGNOSE, BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS TO YOU, YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE YOU'RE DRIVING THE CAR, IT FEELS LIKE IT'S DRIVING YOU!

CONTACT SPOKE WITH CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN NORTH CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA (JOSH). CHEVY STATED THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON VEHICLE. VEHICLES ARE BEING FIXED AS THEY EXPERIENCE THE STEERING PROBLEMS. STEERING WHEEL OVER CORRECTS ITSELF AFTER LOCKING INTO STRAIGHT POSITION.CONTACT STATED SHE SPOKE WITH CHEVY HQ OFFICE - HQ OFFICE SAID TO CALL NHTSA. 0 RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS VIN.
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT WILL START TO DRIFT TO THE LEFT. WHEN I GO TO GIVE IT A SLIGHT CORRECTION IT FEELS LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS AND THAT THE STEERING HAS DISENGAGED. WITH A BIT MORE PRESSURE THE STEERING ENGAGES. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
