I remote started my car using the factory installed remote starter, and approximately 5 minutes later I heard my car alarm start going off, so I went to investigate and when I opened the drivers side door, my car was filled with smoke and flames were coming up from the front passenger footwell, underneath the dash where the HVAC blower motor is located. I closed the drivers door and rushed inside to grab a fire extinguisher, but within those 10 seconds I was away, the fire has more than tripled in size. So when I opened the passenger door to use the extinguisher, the fire had grown out of control. With the fire put out, I started looking around and noticed that the engine bay for the car still has rubber hoses and pieces of plastic that are fully intact and haven't been burned, yet the interior of the car...
A engine always seems to run hot smells like it's burning constantly leaks coolant even after repairing electrical problems reoccurring smells like weird chemicals inside of the car when you turn on smells like gasoline and coolant this occurs every day
The steering wheel keeps locking up while driving fast/slow or turning. Everything shuts off, then back on and all codes flash. My car literally locks up, it’s really unsafe when I can’t control the vehicle. Almost hit another car, due to steering wheel locking up. Only thing I was told at the Chevy dealer house was there were no recalls. So they wouldn’t look unless they got to charge me. This issue started happening about five months ago. And I drive like a grandma.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the door locks were opening and closing independently. The contact stated that the instrument cluster was also flashing several unknown warning lights. The contact stated that the heater and the A/C were also functioning independently. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but became a constant failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission occasionally slipped out of gear, almost causing the vehicle to stall, making the steering wheel difficult to turn. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact replaced the 12-Volt battery and the fuse box; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000.
My service lights keep popping on and start shaking etc.

ABS pump motor stuck X2 & is available for inspection. Brakes could potentially fail putting mine & other's safety at risk. Warning lamps were illuminated. This is the second time this has happened, pump motor was already replaced. There is a recall issued but not for my vehicle specifically. CAN BUS Communication issues.
My car caught fire driving down the road
I am writing to submit a formal complaint regarding serious safety violations and malpractice by SLValley Chevrolet, along with accountability concerns with General Motors (GM). This complaint follows an existing case with the Utah Attorney General Consumer Protection Division (Complaint SR:9-1384660535) and highlights multiple incidents that compromise vehicle safety and public well-being. Summary of Issues: 1. **Electrical Issues and Unsafe Repairs**: I incurred substantial costs, including a recent invoice of **$2,210.72** dated **October 23, 2024**, for a supposed resolution Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet was supposed to have resvoled for an electrical issue. Despite this, the electrical problems remained unresolved, indicating a lack of professional workmanship and charges for servces not rendedered. Also additional time and money wasted. 2. **Damaged Oil Pan**: Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet caused damage to my oil pan, and they attempted to charge me **$866.00** for this damage. I believe this to be an unfair and unjust...
Car shut off while driving on highway. Service power steering and service airbag came on. Tried to jump it but that didn’t work. Car shut off while doing 70 mph on the highway. Was almost hit trying to get car to shoulder. I have just read that there are hundreds of complaints regarding the same thing.
Car dies at 3 rpm’s, mechanic says it’s a faulty computer and that it is a very well known problem with this year of Chevy Cruze. I have to have the computer replaced.
Faulty ignition switch. Vehicle attempts to start on its own. Could be a very serious issue with car parked in a garage.
Turned the car off, exited the vehicle. After a few minutes we could hear and see the car trying to start on its own. The headlights came on and even though it was in park it moved slightly.
Was parked on a slight incline with the car completely off and keys out of ignition. My daughter, her cousin and I exited the car and were walking in front of it. As we got in front of it my car made a sound like it was about to start. The headlights came on and the entire vehicle jerked forward a bit. It almost hit us.
The car starts smoking upon acceleration and the engine light comes on. It also has a lot of oil on top of the engine. I took the car to an independent dealership and he stated the engine and gaskets are bad and this is a common problem with the 2014 Chevy Cruz. I've been told there was a recall and read online of a recall on the engine. However, I did not see a recall when I entered the VIN number on the national database. I need for a manufacturer representative to contact me as soon as possible to make this situation right.
The dashboard lights, radio, electronic speedometer turns off occasionally. It does not seem to affect the car's engine. The Radio sound will go off. The electronics will come back on in about a second or two and "Service Stabilitrak" will appear on the center screen in the dashboard. When it does happen, it will happen a few times within about 5 minutes. It then won't happen again for a while. . . Perhaps a month or 2 months. It seems to happen at a random time. . i.e. not during acceleration or hard stopping. It's troubling because 1) it's distracting, 2) it is uncertain if critical components (breaking, steering, engine performance) is affected, 3) perhaps it would cause other car malfunction. I found a few ideas, online, that point to a bad engine to frame ground cable and/or bad negative battery cable. Here's an example: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO...
Various parts of the cooling system have failed on this vehicle multiple times even after under warranty repair (twice in as many years beginning in 2018) at a licensed dealership; and again several more times since, most recently this week. At no point did a Chevrolet/GM employee/representative alert me of known common issues, and they even incredulously asked me who did prior repairs when it was indeed, their dealership. In all, nearly every hose been replaced at least three times, reservoir tanks replaced, and thousands of dollars outside of warranty repairs have occurred on the same components. The vehicle has completely blown hoses while driving and filled the cabin with burning, noxious, and sweet smells, and fogged up the windshield with vaporized fluids. Coolant certainly leaks and works it way into the cabin. I was not made aware of any known issues though this appears it is a common problem...
Car all of a sudden started to slow down on the highway throwing all kinds of codes like service stabillitrac, throttle body position sensor, pressure intake manifold and lots of other ones
I have had my 2014 Chevy Cruze for 2 years now and have kept up with regular maintenance. My vehicle rocks back and forth while on the brakes, there’s an constant issue with the traction control system, my automatic lights don’t work (I have to many turn on the light in order for the brake lights to turn on), the vehicle shakes side to side when braked, and so much more. When I take the vehicle to be looked at every mechanic and shop tells me there’s nothing wrong or they don’t know.
the negative battery cable terminal clamp has an insufficient crimp at the battery negative terminal causing intermittent issues with the vehicle. Radio/HVAC Display has turned off and on; the Antilock Brake System, Service Traction System, Service Stabilitrac and Steering vehicle messages come on and off; the turn signal sound may not be heard; “Service Steering” displays in the Driver Information Center (DIC); and the interior and exterior lighting flickers. Power steering assist has also be lost, and greater effort has been needed to turn the steering wheel at low speeds or while the vehicle is stopped. This is a known safety issue and SB-100-57574-8899 was previously issued for some but not all of the Chevy Cruze models and my 2014 should have been included in this recall.
i believe it is the ignition switch, my car has been chugging or hesitating while driving and you can also feel it when you are sitting idling and while one the park position. i’ve also read that there are several others that own a cruze and have this issue. Sometimes as well you stick the key in the ignition and there is no connection no noise as like it’s trying to turn over you have to continue to turn the key off and on to finally get a connection and sometimes when you drive and then park and turn the key off the car tries to restart by it’s self. i believe these are issues that seriously need fixed by gm or chevy- no one should have to pay the price of a car for this to occur! i also do all recommended maintenance as suggested to my vehicle. i...
My reverse camera stays on for a few minutes after putting it in drive which is distracting. I keep looking down at the screen to see how long it takes to go out and back to my radio screen. The trunk randomly opens even when I am driving and then it won't open at all. The Bluetooth randomly cuts out while I am driving and talking on the phone which causes me to become distracted while driving. There is an issue when I put gas in the car as well. I have bought 2 gas caps, the one on there now is OEM dealer cap. The cap is on with 3-4 clicks, no check engine light but when I stop at a light, the car feels like it going to stall. No lights come on when it does that.
I was going down road and car shut off and immediately came back on and down road it did it again and all dash lights and interior light came on and had to restart car and dash said service sterilitrak soon

My front catalytic convertor has gone out at 160,000 miles heard it could possibly be die to ECM?
I financed my car through drivetime in june 2019 and from the time i got the car i have been having electrical issues. My car has also been in a really bad accident prior to me purchasing it and when i tried to return it. They just kept telling me to go to pep boys because I had a 60 day warranty to fix any issues. I should not have had to take my car to any mechanic if I got it from a dealership. I now have really mad transmissin issues and I havent even had the car for 3 years. I believe this company sold me a lemon and i dont know how to prove it. I dont have the money to fix all the issues.
For about a year now my 2014 Chevy Cruze’s steering wheel will lock up for a few seconds while I am driving (at speeds up to 80MPH) - which is extremely dangerous. When this happens, several lights will then pop up on my dashboard and messages are shown saying “service power steering” “service traction control”. The radio turns off, the lights inside the car turn off, and the back up camera stops working. The engine light has been on and will not go off. I have already replaced the transmission and the starter as well as the fuel pump. I was told by my mechanic to just get rid of the car as it has way too many issues to even attempt repairing. I once ran over a curb and popped a tire when the steering wheel locked up. Every time I start my car there is a message that...
Power flickering and multiple errors lit up on dashboard including loss of stability control. Radio kept flashing on and off. Would show back up when pressed brake or regular car in motion. -- Looked up online and appears to be known negative battery cable --- which doesn't show on NHTSA recalls or errors to look out for.
The radio started to turn on and off and while that was happening it became difficult to steer. The message on the dashboard read "Service Stabilitrak".
I have a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, and when I turn the ignition off it sounds like it's trying to start on it's own. It also has a faulty catalytic converter.
When parked and left to idle after driving for a while, the traction light comes on and the dash displays service StabiliTrak and traction control. After this happens the car seems to lose power and sometimes feels as if the breaks are catching and letting go.
The touch screen radio unit has totally failed. Without this system, I cannot hear the directional signals or view the backup camera. No aftermarket modifications were made on this or related parts. This car is eight years old and has been maintained according to the manufacturer's service schedule.
In the steering column it’s really hot where you connect to make a call and where you turn on cruse control. This part of the steering column should not be hot.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT UNDISCLOSED SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY LOOSE. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL POPPING AND METALLIC SOUND DETECTED. THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER WHILE ACCELERATING, WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND TPMS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MAP SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GENESIS CHEVROLET (21800 GRATIOT AVE, EASTPOINTE, MI 48021, (586) 804-7977) TO BE DIAGNOSED. WHILE IN DRIVE, RADIO, DASH LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS RANDOMLY SHUT OFF. NOT SURE IF TURN SIGNALS ARE WORKING EVEN THOUGH NO SOUND - PRAYING OTHER DRIVERS CAN SEE WHEN I'M TURNING?? SOMETIMES I'M JUST SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND EVERYTHING GOES QUIET. THE LENGTH OF TIME VARIES, SO IT CAN BE STARTLING WHEN EVERYTHING SUDDENLY COMES BACK ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS. OVERALL, MAY SOUND INSIGNIFICANT, BUT THE (WORKING??) TURN SIGNALS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!!
STABILTRAK SERVICE WARNING, RADIO SCREEN TURNING ON AND OFF AS WELL AS MUTING OF TURN SIGNAL ALL AT THE SAME TIME. HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. NEW BATTERY IN 2020.
THIS HAS OCCUR MORE THAN A HANDFUL OF TIMES. THIS IS THE MOST RECENT ONE, I STOPPED AT THE GAS STATION TURNED OFF MY CAR AND WHEN I WENT TO START IT NOTHING WAS WORKING NO LIGHTS, NO POWER ANYWHERE. I WIGGLED THE BATTERY CABLE AND IT CAME BACK ON BUT, I HAD TO TURN THE KEY ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES FOR IT TO FINALLY START. AS I'M LEAVING THE GAS STATION I TURN TO THE LEFT AND I HAVE NO POWER STEERING NONE WHATSOEVER. THEN IT CAME BACK SECONDS LATER I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AND THE WHEEL JERKED ON ITS ON AND IT SAID SERVICE POWER STEERING AND ONCE AGAIN I HAD NO POWER STEERING. IT WENT OFF MOMENTS LATER. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION IT LOST ALL POWER AGAIN.
THIS CAR IS CRAZY. STARTS ON ITS OWN IF KEY LEFT IN IGNITION. RADIO GOES ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY. POWER STEERING TRIES TO GO OUT. LIGHTS UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND IT NEEDS A RECALL.
RADIO GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY AND CAN'T HERE BLINKER WHILE DRIVING
WHILE IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT I NOTICE THE "ENGINE OVERHEATED - IDLE ENGINE" CAME ON. THIS HAS HAPPEN ON A NUMEROUS OF OCCASIONS. I'VE TAKEN IT IN TO BE CHECKED BUT EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. IT CONTINUES TO DO THIS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK NOW. THERE HAS TO BE A RECALL FOR BECAUSE I'VE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHER CHEVY CRUZE OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING TO THEM.
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
OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS, I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES OCCURRING. THE ENGINE OVERHEATS AND A MESSAGE THAT READS "A/C OFF HIGH ENGINE TEMP" APPEARS. THE HOSE WAS REPLACED, AND IT WAS OK FOR AWHILE, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED TWICE MORE. THE ENGINE GASKET COVER HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL, AND LOOKS LIKE IT IS LEAKING AGAIN, AND OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS RANDOMLY, A MESSAGE WILL APPEAR THAT STATES TO SERVICE STABILTRAK. I'VE HAD A COIL PACK REPLACED AND THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY, BUT REAPPEARS EVERY NOW AND THEN, AND UPON START UP OF CAR MOST DAYS, RUNS VERY ROUGH AND I HAVE TO WAIT A MINUTE BEFORE PUTTING INTO GEAR. THE OVERHEATING AND ROUGH ENGINE PROBLEMS KEEP REOCURRING NO MATTER WHAT WORK I HAVE DONE TO IT. MOST RECENT ISSUES WITH THE AC OFF AGAIN, AS OF TODAY, 12/8/2020.
VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER AND SHUT OFF IN MIDDLE OF DRIVING WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE OR SLOWING DOWN, THIS OCCURS ON HIGHWAY, AT STOPLIGHTS, DRIVE THROUGH, AND CITY STREETS WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP CAN NOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. ECM HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT STILL EXPERIENCE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AS WELL. THIS IS BASICALLY A DEATH TRAP VEHICLE. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO SOLUTION.
THE CAR WILL BE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT OR A STOP SIGN, THE CAR WILL BE IDLING FOR SECONDS START SHUDDERING THEN STALL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL TURN ON. WE THEN HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF WITH THE KEY, CYCLE IT THEN TURN THE CAR BACK ON.
THE TWO FRONT WINDOWS BOTH STOPPED WORKING WITHIN A YEAR OF HAVING THE CAR. THE READ DRIVER SIDE WINDOW ALSO IS MAKING A SOUND THAT SOON WILL STOP WORKING. THE CAR AT THE TIME HAD LESS THAN 9000 MILES WHEN THEY STOPPED WORKING WITH 98% OF THE TIME ONLY HAVING THE ONE PERSON IN THE VEHICLE (DRIVER). NO KIDS PLAYING AROUND WITH SWITCHES NO CRASHES. BOTH WINDOWS JUST STOPPED WORKING. SOMETHING INSIDE BROKE.
.
WHENEVER I LEAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION (USUALLY DO WHEN IT'S PARKED IN MY GARAGE) EVERY NOW AND THEN AFTER PARKING THE CAR, AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THE LIGHTS ALL COME ON AS IF SOMEONE IS TRYING TO START IT. SOMETIMES IT'LL BARELY ROLL OVER. THE STARTER STARTS TO ENGAGE. IT'LL QUIT AND THEN GO INTO COMPLETE OFF MODE. SOMETIMES IT'LL ACTUALLY TRY TO START BUT CAN'T SINCE THE KEY IS IN THE OFF POSITION. IT WILL CONTINUE TO TRY TO START REPEATEDLY SOMETIMES. I'VE BEEN KEEPING AN EYE ON IT AND NOW HAVE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION EVERY TIME I PARK THE CAR. THE SERVICE ANTI THEFT LIGHT CAME ON THE MOST RECENT TIME IT HAD HAPPENED. BUT IMMEDIATELY WENT AWAY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND HASN'T CAME BACK SINCE.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CAR WILL SAY ROLL DRIVER WINDOW UP AND DOWN. THEN IT LOST POWER STEERING FOR A FEW SECONDS. PARKED IT AT MY HOUSE WENT TO START IT AND IT LOST ALL POWER BUT THE FLASHERS STAYED ON. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PASSER TWO WEEKS. I TALKED TO ANOTHER PERSON THAT HAD THE SAME CAR AND THEIRS DID THE SAME THING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START-UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HURD AUTO MALL - CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 1705 HARTFORD AVE, JOHNSTON, RI 02919, WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPROGRAMMED THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND SERVICED THE WIRING HARNESS. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT RECENTLY THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE IS OVERDRAWING BATTERY CURRENT WHEN MOTOR IS RUNNING CAUSING ELECTRICAL POWER LOSS AT ENGINE IDLE. LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER CAUSES ENGINE TO STALL WHILE IN TRAVEL LANES. ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY ARE VERIFIED FUNCTIONAL.
