I purchased the car June 2025 ,The headlights go so dim that you can not see at night, I contacted Cadillac and they are only willing to give me $200. towards the $2000. repair it would cost even though the headlights used on the 2016 Cadillac SRX is the same ones that were recalled on the 2015. They said they have no more programs to help me fix this issues.
My lights are very dim as if they aren’t on.
Subject: Complaint Regarding Unsafe Headlight Design – 2016 Cadillac SRX To whom it may concern, We own a 2016 Cadillac SRX and are extremely concerned about the safety of the vehicle’s headlights. The low beams are so dim that we are unable to drive safely at night. When we resort to using the high beams, oncoming drivers frequently flash their lights at us, indicating that we are blinding them. Bottom line, car is unusable at night !!! A few years ago, I brought this issue to the attention of our local Cadillac service department. Unfortunately, I was told there was nothing they could do, despite acknowledging that the headlight design is a known problem. They quoted us over $1,600 for a repair, without offering any goodwill assistance or cost reduction — even though this is clearly a design flaw, not a wear-and-tear issue. This does not seem fair, especially considering...
we have a 2016 SRX AWD Cadillac and we can not drive at night, the head light is way to dim, and when placing on high beam - blind oncoming cars "AI info: If you can’t see well at night and your 2016 Cadillac SRX has factory HID headlights, there's a chance that faded lenses, worn bulbs, or a defective ballast is the issue—and GM/Cadillac may or may not cover it"
See attached document for complaint.
The headlights on my 2016 SRX Cadillac have extremely dim headlights. I can barely see in front of me at night. The drivers side light is especially dim. The only way I can see is if I drive with my highbeams on. When I’m driving with my regular lights on and a car is coming at me I feel blinded. I’m scared to drive at night. I fear that I’m going to hit something or someone. This has been going on for a while now and at first I thought I was imagining things, and perhaps it was my eyesight, but it’s absolutely not. I’ve read online countless accounts of other people with 2010-2016 Cadillac srx that have the exact same problem as me. I just took it into the mechanic to have him look at the headlights.
The headlights, when put in "dim/low beam" are almost non working. One can see the lights are working, but it is almost like driving blind. The dealership people know about the problem and stated that the heat on the lens cover, inside the headlight assembly causes that cover to warp, deform and will not permit adequate light to shine out. They then told me the assembly parts and labor would be over $3000. This issue is dangerous because on an unlighted street with no accompanying traffic to provide lighting, it is almost like having no headlights at all. The dealership and Cadillac know about the issue but refuse to do anything about the problem that is due to their own faulty manufacturing.
Low beam headlights are very dim, failing to illuminate the roadway, even with the brightest halogen bulbs available. creates a safety hazard as driver cannot sufficiently see the road ahead, especially when meeting an oncoming vehicle. In my vehicle it is worse on the driver's side, but both are extremely dim. Vehicle is unsafe to drive at night, creating hazardous situation for this vehicle as well as oncoming traffic. I purchased this vehicle used, as is, with no knowledge of headlight issues on this make/model vehicle.
Purchased a 2016 Cadillac SRX a few years ago as a used car. Noticed that the headlights were extremely dim. Brought it to a Cadillac dealership and asked them to investigate it. They mentioned that they had thought there was a recall at some point regarding the lights for these cars, but it may have expired. I checked with General Motors, and they did not find a recall for these headlights for the specific vehicle make/model. The dealership told me that I could have the lights replaced, but it would cost around $200 per light. Driving this vehicle at night poses a risk and a safety hazard for me as the driver, as I cannot see the road as well as I should be able to. I often have to drive with my bright lights on to see properly. This is a real concern of mine and wanted to ask...
I recently had to drive at night. The low beams are so dim you cannot drive. I have to drive with the high beams. The low beams are on, but not bright enough to drive. What is the fix for this. Thanks
RE: 2016 Cadilliac SRX Low Beam Headlights The low beam headlights on the vehicle are extremely dim. It makes it challenging turning onto a street or intersection which does not have its own lighting or another car in the opposite lane. Due to the low visibility, I am forced to excursive judgement to ensure you are in the correct lane. My passengers have even noticed it and had other people drive the car at night with me and they said the same. I purchased the with 36,497 miles. I did speak to Cadillac prior, they knew about the issue, told me I to take it to one of the auto parties, I would have to pay for the new assembly and then send it to them to be reimbursed. At the time the estimate was around 2,200. Due to this issue try not to drive at night, especially on streets...
The headlights on my 2016 Cadillac SRX are no-longer lighting up the road. It is not the bulb, they still work but they only light up a fraction of what they did in the past. The bights light up the road great but I can't drive with them on all the time. As I searched on the internet I see this is a common issue with the reflection material failing. It has been a know issue and a recall was never issued. I can not understand why a recall isn't issued due to the safety issues related to driving at night. Is this being considered for recall - if seems unfair to force me to pay to repair something that is know to be an issue and related to safety.
Subject: Urgent Safety Complaint - 2016 Cadillac SRX Headlight Performance National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am writing to submit a formal safety complaint regarding a critical issue with the headlights of my 2016 Cadillac SRX. My name is [XXX] , and I believe there may be a safety-related defect in the vehicle's design or manufacturing. Despite replacing the bulbs and personally funding a comprehensive cleaning and resurfacing of the headlight covers, the performance of the headlights has significantly deteriorated. Through extensive research, I have found that numerous owners share similar concerns, indicating a potential widespread issue that may be linked to a manufacturing defect. This matter is of great concern, especially considering the safety implications associated with diminished visibility during nighttime driving. The reflective surfaces within the headlight housing appear to be...
Head lights are very dim. When I took a vacation through Arizona and parts of Southern California where street lights were not present it was very hard and unsafe to see where I was going due to lights being so dim. Estimate to replace was so out of my budget. Don’t know what to do. Please help
The headlights in low beam mode no longer are bright enough to safely see or be properly seen at night. This problem is documented by many owners of this same vehicle and similar cadillac vehicles, and many videos are available on Youtube documenting this as a fact as a frequent problem by all owners. It is being ignored and needs to be addressed. There is apparently even a class action lawsuit for the 2016 SRX. A video exists that shows the problem is the inside reflective material is being burned out due to heat of the bulbs making the surface no longer reflective. Drivers end up keeping high beams on at all times which blinds other drivers and this can lead to many vehicle accidents with property damage, injury and deaths. There needs to be a recall and replacement of the entire housing and then use low heat LED bulbs...
Regular headlights are too dim to be seen at night and it’s verry dangerous to drive at night even after replaceing the a brighter light also happends on Cadillac ats from 2018
Normal headlight illumination is insufficient and dangerous to see safely ahead. I must always use bright lights to see
This issue involves our headlights or lack of lights. Driving the car at night on a dark expressway revealed a frightening issue. Our dim lights were so weak we couldn’t see 10 feet in front of us. We had to use our brights the entire way and took the car to be checked a few days later. We then found out Cadillac had settled a lawsuit regarding faulty lights with SRX models through 2015. They knew the 2016 models had the same lights but chose to play Russian Roulette with it’s “valued 2016 customers” . The only option we had was to spend $2,000+/- for lights (again the same lights were used) if we want to drive at night. These lights should have been recalled but Cadillac let us swing in the wind and makes us pay for their FAULTY lights. Not even an offer to split the cost for...
My 2016 Cadillac SRX has faulty just like the rest of the 2010 to the 2015 Cadillac SRXs front headlight assemblies that you cannot see at night and then they eventually just die out because of moisture getting in I've had to replace mine and it's cost me $2,400 to replace them GM is very well aware of this issue this is a dangerous situation people cannot drive at night we cannot drive during inclemented weather. Barely can drive with your brights on this is a dangerous dangerous situation. Should have a recall GM is very well aware of the faulty lights that are installed in these vehicles. The situation started in September of 2020.
The headlights are very dim. i cannot see at night without using my bright lights. This a safety issues because I cannot see and other cars cannot see me. On 12-28-21 I took the car to Jim Hudson dealership. The diagnose was both headlights are very dim. Reflective silver coating within headlamp assemblies has faded. Will require 2 new assemblies. This is my second 2016 SRX and I had the exact same problem with the headlights. I believe this is a manufacturer issue.
The headlights are bad. Water gets in. A class action suit dismissed this defect that was also in previous years. This should be a recall. We are going to have to replace the headlights on our car because we can barely see at night.
Headlights The normal beam headlights are extremely dim, unable to operate the vehicle on the roadway at night. I had the bulbs replaced at an expense of $300 for parts and labor, which did not rectify the issue. The beams remain extremely dim, which is due to the faulty headlight assembly. GM has never acknowledge this issue after 1000's of complaints. GM did refund some owners of SRX 2010-2015 models for replacing the headlight assemblies, but failed to provide any resolution for owners of the 2016 - present models. If the vehicle must be operated at night, the only way to safety proceed is with the high beams, which doesn't provide for a safe environment for the other vehicles on the roadway. This must be addressed by GM, as people are risking their lives and the lives of others on the roadway. There were no prior warnings or indications of...
The low beams have gotten so dim that driving at night has become hazardous. Both the passenger and driver side lights are dim but the passenger side is the worst. The problem is internal to the headlamp assembly. Cleaning the outer lens has no effect. The high beams function fine but we can't drive with the high beams all of the time because they blind oncoming drivers. When the lights switch back to low beams, it is almost like switching the lights completely off.
The head lights aren’t working properly ,it’s so damped that I can’t see at night time, Dealer said there is no thing we can do . I can’t put my family at risk of crash or hitting something that I didn’t see because of the light was very low. Please help.
Low beam headlights are so dim it is unsafe to drive at night.
We have had an ongoing problem with our headlights dimming and getting worse and worse. The dealers tell us there's nothing they can do to test the headlight. They can sure tell if they drive it at night. It's so unsafe to drive at night that when we do we must use our high beams and in doing so, oncoming traffic flash their lights at us. It's so bad, I am afraid to drive and night and now won't and will only allow my husband too. This headlight issue has been an ongoing problem with Cadillac where they issued a recall, but for some reason didn't include the 2016 models in that recall. A case advisor offered us $500 towards the $2,000 repair and stated if there ever is a recall they would refund us what we paid. This is unacceptable. They know there's a problem and they don't take...
Purchased a 2016 Cadillac SRX Luxury Edition used with 60,000 miles. First time driving at night, I noticed headlights on dim were very dim. Barely could see the roadway unless lights were on bright. I done some research on issue and found that it seems to be a common problem with this model from 2010 to 2016 year model. Cadillac has known of the problem, but has not thoroughly done any action to correct the problem.
Extremely dim low beam headlights. I can’t see to drive it at night on the low beams. The high beams still work, but blind oncoming traffic. This puts me and other drivers at risk. It is available for inspection. This issue started 6 months ago. This seems to be a serious problem with several years of this make and model.
I bought this car in 2020 and my first night of being out at night I COULD NOT SEE 2 feet in front of me. I was darn near ran off the road. Supposed all recalls were done on my car--NOT!!!!!!This is serious stuff and I'm seeing on a Cadillac forum all the outcries and the extreme costs people are paying. PLEASE PLEASE Do something-ALSO BE SURE SO CALLED RECALLS ARE DONE!!!!
Headlights have become so dim over the last year that I can longer see more than 10 ft in front of my car at night. There is a known headlight problem that Cadillac will not recall or offer a solution to. The dim headlights are very dangerous and will certainly result in fatal accidents.
HEADLIGHTS: It is available for inspection upon request. There have been no accident so far, however you cannot drive at night due to low beam of headlights are so very dim that it is an absolute hazard to be out on the road and deal with oncoming vehicles because you cant see. When asking a dealer representative about my headlight issue, he stated it would cost around $1500, as these were very expensive headlights and would take several days to get them in. Another person told me it would only last a few days, if replaced and then the same issue would occur. It seemed to be dimming all of a sudden, happened on the way home from church 1 month ago, as my husband and I were returning home. They both are still very dim and I think for the price we paid for our New Vehicle in 2017,...
Due to the deterioration of the headlight assembly and the reflectors, my headlights do not give me enough light to safely see after dark without using the bright lights. I have to drive with them on bright all the time, even in oncoming traffic, or risk incident or accident. To date I have experienced only minor, thankfully, incident. I have missed turns and even missed the road and drove off the roadway when making turns off the main road. I have not sustained damage and was lucky that there was no traffic following closely as I have, in several instances, had to stop abruptly to avoid damaging my vehicle. I also very narrowly missed seeing a person walking along the side of the road where no sidewalk was available because the dim lights did not fall on the person. I took the vehicle to Cadillac of Knoxville today, Jan.13, 2022,...
JUST INFORMED BY MY DEALERSHIP WHILE WORKING ON RECALL , THAT MY HEADLIGHTS ARE DEFECTIVE AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF 2400.00. IF NOT DONE MY CAR WILL NOT PAST INSPECTION DUE FEB 2022
The low beam lights on our 2016 Cadillac SRX are extremely dim and very dangerous to drive at night. This is a know issue and there have been numerous class action Law suits regarding the issue. P.lease help to make my wife's commute to work safer Thanks
At night, headlights do not come on. Only daytime running lights come on. You cannot see properly without headlights.
After purchasing our 2016 Cadillac SRX we began to notice the head lites were becoming dimmer over time and now to a point that we are unable to drive at nite and need to put high beams on if subjected to nite driving .This creates a blinding hazard for oncoming vehicles. After several attempts of replacing bulbs to improve condition of lites I began to investigate and found that there is a recall for other year models of Cadillac SRX but 2016 is not included. This issue is widespread and undoubtedly will cause accidents and possibly death to motorist. Cadilac is aware of this issue and has yet to recall these vehicles to repair obvious and known issues.
Headlights are too dim. Known issue in this car.
The headlights are very dim causing safety driving issues at night. I first noticed driving at night returning from a trip to Arkansas driving on poorly lit highways
These headlights have turn so dim its dangerous to drive at night. Its the lens inside that s deteriorating and nothing to do with the bulb. The dealer wants around 1500 to replace. This is a common problem with this vehicle. Cadillac offered only 50% of the repair but when i took it back to the dealer for service I got the run around again even though I had a reference number. Many people will not spend this large amount and it should be recalled. At night I must use the high beams to be safe but that annoys and is not safe to other drivers.
The headlights are extremely dim cannot drive the vehicle at night. If I do use at night I have to use the high beams. Seems to be a know problem with Cadillac SRX. I was told by dealer they would have to replace both headlight assemblies to fix this problem at a cost of over 2000 dollars.
I am concerned with the lack of visibility that my low-beams provide. I live in a semi-rural area, where the streets are not well-lit, there are no curbs, and people walk along the edge of the street after dark. I contacted both Cadillac AND my dealer, and they both told me that it’s possible that the deal has eroded and caused dimming. I was told there was a class action suit that addressed this issue, but it expired before I purchased my car, and I was NOT made aware of it. I believe that Cadillac and Flow Cadillac of Greensboro are responsible, and I would like this remedied as soon as possible. I’m 66 years old, limited income, are am paying dearly for a car that I’m scared to drive at night. I did not realize this last fall/winter, as my nephew was borrowing my car, while his was in...
headlamps are very dim unable to see clearly at night and when raining

The headlights are not bright enough they've never been bright enough it's almost like you don't have any headlights at night time if it's dark out. I even change them out once and it's like there wasn't enough power to them to make them bright. I have not very good Vision at night and I can't even really drive the car at night unless it's in the city. A couple of people I have told me they had the same problem with the headlights and even the guy at the auto place told me that his wife had the same car and he changed her headlights and it was still bad so he changed them back and that's exactly what I did. Hardly usable at all at night I wish there was something they could do or find out if there is a flaw in the design because everyone I've...
HEADLIGHTS WHEN ON DIM DO NOT LIGHT UP THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT UNLESS YOU DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON WHICH OF COURSE INFURIATES ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IF YOU LOOK ON THE INTERNET, YOU WILL FIND THAT MOST CADILLAC SRX FROM 2010 THROUGH 2016 HAVE THIS PROBLEM, YET NO RECALL. WHY?
THE LOW BEAMS ON MY 2016 CADILLAC ARE EXTREMELY DIM AND UNSAFE FOR NIGHT DRIVING. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. IT IS A LUXURY MODEL WITH NO FOG LIGHTS. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE THE CORRECTED BY GM/CADILLAC AND NOT THE OWNER. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE REPAIR AND IS CAUSING SERIOUS ISSUES WITH MANY SRX OWNERS. PREVIOUS YEARS ARE COVERED BY A RECALL, FOR SOME REASON THIS IS NOT.
MY HEAD LIGHTS DON'T WORK GOOD AT ALL AND I HAVE GOT STOPPED BY POLICE SEVERAL TIMES AN GOT A TICKET FOR BRIGHT LIGHTING AND STOPPED FOR DRIVING WITH NO LIGHTS ON WHEN I HAD DEM ON BUT THE POLICE COULDN'T EVEN TELL I HAD ANY ON AND I HAVE CALLED CADILLAC ON MANY OCCASIONS AND ALL THEY SAY IS THEY CAN'T FIX THEM UNDER A RECALL THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY 3000 TO $3500 TO HAVE THEM FIXED, SAID THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY NOT JUST LIGHTS AND I THINK THIS IS VERY MUCH A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN I CAN'T SEE AT NIGHT WITH LIGHTS ON DIM AND I AM TIRED OF GETTING TICKETS FOR THE LIGHTS BEING ON BRIGHT SND WHEN YOU PAY OVER $45 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A VEHICLE YOU WOULD THINK CADILLAC WOULD FIX IT AND IT WOULD BE THERE RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY...
