2018 RAM 1500 Unknown Or Other Problems

Uconnect/ram backup camera does not work sometimes. Started when radio started jumping itself due to delamanated touch radio screen. Almost hit kid behind while backing up. Camera cut off while backing.

Uconnect is erratic Heated seats turning on, unable to call 911, climate control turns on and off or changes temp from hot to AC turning on. Radio changes stations. Apps flipping from on to another. Unable topair phone to uconnect.

The uconnect 8.4 radio screen started delaminating. The delamination caused the screen to randomly turn things on/off, call random people including the emergency number, radio switching channels and changing volume, park assist warning buzzer to stop working, back-up camera ceased working and numerous other symptoms. Any, or all of these symptoms, will distract a driver to the point where an accident could occur. This has not only happened to me but thousands of other owners who own uconnect radios in their vehicles. The company, in my case FCA, has ignored this problem and has refused to repair or replace the radio. Clearly this is a faulty part that needs to be replaced before someone gets seriously injured or killed.

The backup camera periodically makfunctions. I have dealth with a dealer concerning this problem and was told this year model has not been recalled.

The infotainment screen on my ram 1500 is delaminating causing it to ghost press functions. This is resulting it starting and stopping music, phone calls, voice prompts, backup camera, mirror dimmer, etc. it has started doing this in the last month. It distracts the driver because the screen requires constant attention and can’t be turned off.

This is my 2nd complaint...Uconnect never did return my call as they promised they would....now our Uconnect is so bad it makes driving a safety concern. After starting our Ram the Uconnect keeps trying to call a number ....we have no idea what number it is but it continues dialing....we can not turn it off so if we need to drive this vehicle this is what we have to put up with....very distracting...I see many complaints on this website but nothing is being done....we get nowhere with Uconnect even though we have called numerous times...we can not access any of the features from this radio/Uconnect device...cameras...non functioning on the screen....what will it take before someone does something to make the manufactures respond.....as long as NHTSA does nothing....then Uconnect will feel embolden to also do nothing....PLEASE THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ..

We may have started a claim already reference number 1592940, this is the first I've been able to write out the details. On [XXX] we were driving through South Dakota on the freeway; which was cold but dry and clear with no hazards and within a mile everything happened or about 45-60 seconds First, it was like the gas wasn't getting through because RPMS went from normal to almost 5000. From there, my husband started losing driving power, so he started trying to pull over. Within seconds it seemed to lose engine power as were were pulling over to the shoulder. The backup camera randomly loses the image when backing up. It has happened many times, unpredictable, beginning in October. Then had a period of it happening quite often, now it's only been twice in the last couple of weeks. I have a couple of photos of the screen, but this app won't let me paste them in. I request my VIN be added to the recall for this issue.

We have noticed for more than a year that the main touch screen of our 2018 Ram 1500 has screen delamination, and, with it, ghosting; i.e., it appears a ghost is touching buttons, as even though we are not touching buttons on the screen, buttons are being pushed all over the screen. We are happy to make the vehicle available for inspection or provide videos upon request. Infotainment system within the car will randomly touch the screen and make distinctive changes that alter the cars driving state. Has called SOS system multiple times. Changed climate control settings and opens up backup cam while traveling forward and not in a parking state. Causes a distraction within the car for the driver and the passengers, and could potentially have harmful driving effects, including switching transmission settings or changing driving at all. I have been having issues with my EGR, Dealership states there is a leak and ordered parts for repair that will cost me $2000 in repairs when parts come in. The engine light comes on almost every month and I loose power until I take it back into the dealership and they clear the code and state that they are still waiting on the parts to repair, Ordered parts should be delivered in October 2024. I have checked and this has been a recalled part previously and apparently repaired before I purchased the truck. My concern is with the loss of power when the engine light comes on and has been diagnosed that this is due to the EGR leak that it could cause an accident.

My EGR has failed. There was a recall for the exact part in 2020 and a new EGR was installed in April of 2020 required by the recall. My new EGR now has a fatigue crack in it and the new part needs to be replaced. When I inquired about a replacement, I was told that a replacement would have to be covered by me and not the dealership or Stallantis. I respectfully disagree. Why replace a part under suspicion of failure and potential hazard and still have the same problem with the new part. I would argue that the problem remains and it needs to be corrected.

The uconnect/multimedia system sporadically and unpredictably goes haywire while driving; changing vehicle settings, making noises, and rapidly switching screens or even dialing 911! This is distraction and a nuisance while driving which takes a drivers attention from where it should be. Please investigate as I've heard it is a widespread problem with the 4C NAV system.

I choose "other" because you don't have their uconnect system listed as an option. I few years ago the radio began channel channels randomly every once in a while. This would usually stop once the vehicle was shut off and then restarted. It was so infrequent that it wasn't that big a deal. Then it started happening more frequently and I went online to the Ram forums and found that tons of people were reporting the same issue. Why? since 2022 have I been getting Safety recall notices concerning the HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) on my Ram truck and the dealer says there are no parts available to do the repairs. I have been to 3 dealers since 2022 and all three say the same thing, FCA/Stellantis/Dodge doesn't have the parts. The most recent recall came on [XXX]. I filed previously. The truck just lost power, I was on highway fastin fast lane. Lost power had to cross 3 lanes of high speed traffic. Dangerous. The tone wheel broke. I had to get towed to repair shop 3/8/23, mileage 38171. No parts available till 4/21/23. No rental car? Stranded. NHTSA issued recall. I tried several times to get reimbursed for repairs $1,168.90. I just get the run around. It still needs software update. Then there is an outstanding recall X46, no repair options. Nothing available. I don’t trust Dodge.

Started experiencing a misfire shaking on my ram 1500, took it to the shop for a cylinder 5 misfire, the truck has 67,xxx miles, they're saying it was cylinder 5 lifter failure, apparently also camshaft. From what I've read online this is a reoccurring problem, why would someone want to pay 30k+ for a truck or car that won't last more than 70k miles... now the dealership says they don't know how much money its gonna cost and the camshaft is back ordered..

The rear window is defective from the manufacturer. My vehicle is taking in water from a faulty design where the window drain does work and pushes water back into the vehicle. I have young kids and there is mold everywhere. The MOPAR agent admitted the window is defective but only some of the VINs were offered a free replacement. Clearly, they didn't identify all vehicles because there are numerous complaints on forums and on NHTSA website. Please do the right thing and issue a recall and give your loyal customers their money back for your faulty design. In addition, there is no ETA on the replacement glass which means that this is a widespread issue and MOPAR can't manufacture enough replacement rear windows.

My truck is equipped with the UConnect 4C/4C Navigation system which is malfunctioning. This is a problem that other car owners are having as well. This system is having "ghost touch" issues. The radio will scroll through the channels, change automatically to satellite radio. This is not a safety concern, however when the heat/defrost goes out, changes over to a/c then this can be a concern, which is what my system will do. It will also black completely out. There are no warning lights, battery in the truck has been replaced, did not fix the problem. A factory reset has been done, did not fix the problem. The led screen is delaminating. This has caused fantom touching. The truck will constantly start stop and change settings. This causes the GPS to go haywire, radio to change stations and volume, heating and cooling will go up and down, and it will initiate phone calls and emergency services. These are inconvenient when the truck is at rest, but I nearly got into a wreck due to the GPS screen zooming in and out while the truck called emergency services. This IS a safety issue.

I rear ended another car and my truck was totaled. The air bags never deployed and I’ve never had an air bag light come on showing there was an issue. The vehicle was safety checked from the dealer when I bought it but they told me to call Dodge (or whomever owns it). I called them and they said someone would call me in 4 days, well here it is on day 6 and no call.

The auto park disabled will come on. Other lights will flash and eventually the truck powers off. It is going to cause someone to be killed. Other ram and jeep owners have experienced the same and dealers can't seem to figure out the problem

This safety issue deals with the touch screen radio. The laminate or glue appears to have oozing on the inside of the touch screen. This oozing has caused the touchscreen to have a mind of its own and begin calling people, turning cameras on, adjust vehicle settings included in the uconnect package. The touchscreen cant be shut off and continues to make changes as your driving. Today the vehicle began calling telephone numbers and hanging up, switching between radio, backup camera, telephone etc etc etc. As i continually attempted to stop the chaos I nearly had a headon collision. The Uconnect system which controls almost every electrical aspect of my truck is malfunctioning. There seems to be an issue with the screen and it goes into a "ghost method" and the screen will start changing without being touched. This screen controls safety features, cameras, navigation, etc. i have seen several forums where ram owners are complaining about this and this needs to be a Recall!

My uconnect infotainment unit is experiencing “ghost touching” . As I am driving at first the radio stations would change by themselves. OEM UConnect 8.5" screen delamination resulting in constant screen flashing due to "ghost touches" causing distractions to driver. Issue causes the inability to turn screen off when flashing and changing screens on its own which can be hazardous any time, especially at night; when phone is connected to vehicle bluetooth system, the UConnect screen makes random calls which also distracts driver due to having to end a call on the actual phone, otherwise the person called at random is constantly put on hold and resumed to the point it is impossible to speak (hands-free laws in my city create the necessity to be able to speak via bluetooth) and, in the event an emergency call to 911 has to be made while driving, it does not appear the screen malfunction will allow it; climate randomly switches from heat to cool and continuously adjusts fan speed; equalizer on audio system controls...

Backup camera blanks out to blue screen during operation. Does it randomly, has done it multiple times, seems to have a mind of its own.

While accelerating onto the freeway my truck lost power and displayed a check engine light. Upon having the code read it was P-0336 which is for a crankcase speed sensor. I was nearly rear ended by a tractor trailer due to the loss of power. Stellantis was unable to help with answers as far as the recall information regarding recall 66A which is to be an extension of recall 20V-475.

The 8inch screen is delaminating as a result the backup camera is not operating correctly. This is a safety issue. When the vehicle is turned on there are continuous phantom icons pressed. 911 has been called numerous times due to this problem. I do see this as being a widespread issue as the delaminating issue is common on 2018 models.

when fueling the pump handle gets stuck in the tank and also cuts the pump handle off several times during the fueling process. This problem has not been checked out. The exhaust manifolds are tapping. This will not pass our state inspection. This was found after my state inspection by an independent service center. No warning lights, but can smell a bit of exhaust fumes when starting. The uconnect system is delaminating causing the system to malfunction. There is a common well known problem with the Ram trucks that have the Hemi Engine. The passenger side cast iron exhaust manifold will warp and break the steel bolts off the aluminum head. This creates a hazardous exhaust leak where fumes are entering the cab. Also in states that require a state safety inspection it will fail because of the leak. It is a manufacturer safety defect and should be repaired by the manufacturer and not have the customer foot the bill for a bad design.

I received a bubble in my Uconnect infotainment system. After researching this appears to be a major problem. I was advised by my service dealership, Lithia Ram in Santa Rosa, that the bubble will spread across the screen and eventually uncontrollably turn the radio up and down as well as the heater and A/C. This is completely unsafe as it will distract the driver constantly and make matters unsafe to drive. This appears to be a major flaw with these infotainment systems.

Hello. We have a RAM 1500 serial # 1C6RR7MT1JS204636 , the UConnect radio screen is doing some delamination about 1/3 of the screen from top. At 1st no big deal but since about 2 weeks it changes radio station by itself and for the past 3 days it keeps calling people non stop , I almost rear ended someone today trying to stop the calls . I know my truck is not under warranty anymore but I feel there's a big safety issue for me and my wife right now. This radio is a tool for us ( GPS is the most important feature on it ) . We got very scared my wife and I today. Don't know if I'm the only one having this problem but we'll really appreciate if FCA can take care of us.

Have read other complaints of similar problems. The problem started with our 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 several weeks ago with the navigation system changing screens to points of interest, then yesterday everything messed up. Upon starting the truck the touch screen seems to work fine for about five minutes, then it starts jumping around from one screen to another. It randomly tries to route a destination, the radio changes stations, tries to call phone numbers, and the climate controls jump all over the place. No heat, no air, and most alarming is that the defroster does not work. The problem persists while sitting still and driving. There may be other problems, but the touch screen does not respond. All this is very distracting and dangerous.

The UConnect is malfunctioning, and my vehicle is available for inspect upon request. However I have many videos of the issue. It is exhibiting a “phantom touch” where it will click on buttons and change settings. My life was in danger when it would turn my windshield defrost on and off/change the temperature causing the windshield to fog up. It completely binds me while driving and I have to attempt to pull over and manually wipe the windshield. It is also constantly pressing the SOS button and calling 911, and I have to explain to the dispatcher that it is not an emergency/my truck is calling them (it’s a federal crime to call 911 repeatedly without an emergency). U-Connect, navigation, back up camera, screen, ac/heat controls, phone, radio, wipers, seat vents/heat all effected....navigation will not stop navigating when canceling route, back up camera stayed on over 3 hrs while I was driving which lit up everything behind me, phone when connected calls random numbers when I'm not even trying to make calls, radio jumps from station to station with out being touched. U connect radio system / screen delaminating/ radio makes phone calls to 911 and other numbers on its own. Controls a/c and heat turns those off and on without anyone touching the controls very annoying,distraction to driver also causes backup camera not to work.

The touch screen in my vehicle, that controls everything from heat& A/C, GPS, radio, heated seats/steering wheel, and also connects with my phone. It automatically changes constantly without warning causing me to have to switch back or turn off what it may have turned on. It changes my directions when I use it to go to unfamiliar places forcing me to briefly take my eyes off the road to navigate the screen.

The in-dash audio system is shorting out. GPS will not work; U-Connect cannot make or receive calls (safety issue); U-Connect will make random phone calls over and over again, causing the driver to try and stop the calls while driving (safety issue); radio changes constantly between radio, Sirius, Aux and Phone (you cannot turn it off). It also affects the a/c and heat. I cannot believe this issue has not been recalled. I understand it is a real problem in the Ram trucks. Dodge needs to take care of this immediately! I do not drive the truck much because it is dangerous.

The Uconnect display system is delaminating and it is causing the computer system to randomly start turning systems on and off as well as not allowing the navigation system to function properly. The air conditioner is effected as well as the radio and CarPlay system.

Turning onto a main hwy, vehicle would not move forward. Response time for throttle was more than 5 seconds. Car behind me had to slam on their brakes on order to not hit me. Vehicle is continually having throttle response issues.

The Uconnect 8.4 inch radio is delaminating causing uncommanded inputs into the vehicles climate, sound system, and phone access. The vehicle changing music and climate is distracting, but the commands in phone access are extremely distracting and could cause safety issues to others. This is also a very common issue according to others and although some have received a FCA goodwill warranty I was not able to. The goodwill warranty tells me Chrysler and Uconnect know this is a common issue that needs to be corrected. Also, Chryslers fix is to replace the radio when the glue between the digitizer (touch screen) and main unit melts despite the main unit not being the cause of the defect. So charging people $1,000 dollars for a new unit is a bandaid issue as the unit will just delaminate again. This issue needs a more effective solution.
