2018 RAM 1500 Fuelpropulsion System Problems

I wanna report a refuling issue with my vehicle. I have an issue with the gas pump clicking or turning off numerous times it started happening not to long after having the truck. I have to literally hold the pump with my hand to refuel my it. If I don't do this the tank will never get filled. I also have to watch closely so the gas doesn't overflow and pour out on my truck to the ground. This has happened in the past very dangerous and wasteful with gas coming out like that. I have read different fixes for the problem but no help from Dodge about it as apparently no recalls about this issue. Which it looks like I'm going to have to try and get it fixed out of my own pocket. It's a struggle everytime time to fuel it up. I think Dodge should fix this...

Unable to fill fuel tank

When fueling the vehicle it routinely clicks off and fuel is splashing out at times. When I bought the truck in 2018 the dealer said this is a known ram issue and would be a recall soon. The problem has never been fixed and is getting worse where there is fuel and vapors escaping the filler routinely. If you Google this on reddit forums or Ram forums it's a common problem. It also causes people to fuel their trucks improperly to get around the issue causing even more safety issues.

The gas tank will not take fuel. Tried multiple pumps at multiple gas stations and the pump keeps turning off. You have to keep restarting the pump over and over again. If you look it up online, there are hundreds of people having the same issue and most cases seem to be a faulty rollover valve, the filler neck itself or a complete replacement of the gas tank. If someone isn’t monitoring the fuel level with the ignition on and they keep restarting the pump, they may over fill the tank and pump gas on the vehicle or themselves which is hazardous and could be potentially fatal.

The vehicle had a recall of a high-pressure fuel pump. I was driving on the freeway when the vehicle suddenly stopped. I had the vehicle towed to the closes dealership. I was told that at the time the manufacture did not have the parts to replace the fuel pump and the debris passed through the system damaging filter and the catalytic converter. I was told by the dealership mechanic that there were metal shavings through-out the system. They partially repaired it and once I went to register my vehicle at the DMV they wanted proof of the recall repair. I took the vehicle back but the dealership does not wish to repair the consequential damage the recall caused. I still do not have my vehicle or proof the vehicle is in a safe working condition. Dealership and Manufacture refuse to repair the vehicle.

1 of 2 Gas tank mounting straps released, rusted thru the frame and the gas tank was hanging by the rear strap only. could have been a huge fire risk if tank released and ruptured on the road.. has not been reported thru dealer yet, had same issue on my 2011 ram 1500 which was recalled to fix. only warning was seeing something hanging under my truck and hearing a new noise as the metal strap rubbed on the drive shaft.. i crawled underneath and found as described above.

Since purchasing my 2018 Dodge Ram brand new, I have experienced consistent issues while refueling. From day one, the fuel pump at gas stations would shut off multiple times during a fill-up, even when the tank was far from full. The front fuel tank strap fell off and tank is now hanging. When looking at strap, I noticed the frame mount that holds strap was corroded/rusted and had snapped, causing strap to let go. This was a recall back in 2009-2012 on this same vehicle. This should be looked at ASAP and recalled. This is a safety issue. Thankfully I found this before tank dropped out while driving.

Recall Z46 for the High Pressure Fuel Rail. Truck has been down for a month and was told today my truck is still not fixed and they have no clue when the parts will be coming in for the to get my truck done.

The vehicle started rattling currently its not starting i almost crashed a car in front of me, the truck is in jordan am not in the usa and the dodge local dealership refused to do the recalls stating that there is no support for diesel rams they even refused to provide the parts or the software… If this truck is not supported world wide why did they allowed its exportation kindly help me with this

Had the High flow fuel pump Changed and less than 400 miles had a catastrophic failure. Had to pay for a tow was told nothing is under warranty, even though it was caused all by a faulty fuel pump and caused other issues and was told by Stalantis that they do not cover calamity damage had to pay for PCM and injectors. My truck is still not fixed. My engine light is still on, brought it to three dealerships and nobody can figure it out. Also the deaf system is not functioning properly and had it replaced a 20,000 and at 70,000.

We purchased the RAM in September 2024. 5 times since our purchase, while filling the gas tank the pump nozzle has gotten stuck and extremely hard to remove from the gas tank. This last incident was on 2/9/25, prompting us to take the truck into Dodge where it is currently waiting to be looked at. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed and corrected as vehicles are very expensive to have these types of defects. It took 3 grown men to remove the nozzle from the tank.

When fueling my vehicle, whether my tank is empty or half full, the pump clicks off as it would if my tank was full. It can take 1/2 hour to get $10.00 worth of gas in my 33 gallon tank. Cannot put fuel in tank… when trying to fill at gas station, the pump keeps kicking off and gas spills out the filler neck. This is a common and known issue with RAM trucks and the tanks should have been recalled.

Chrysler's 3.0L diesel engine have a high-pressure fuel pump with an open recall on them. A HPFP failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system and cause potential fuel starvation. In January of 2023, I attempted to remedy the situation with a RAM dealership in Aptos, California. The attached email chain shows that for 6 months, I was unable to receive parts for my 3.0L diesel engine. After a change in job opportunities, I ended up in Palmdale late November 2023, where I continued to pursue remediation at the RAM of the West Dealership in Lancaster. While I do not have a email thread on this, if you visit their store on 43226 10th St W, Lancaster, CA 93534, you find that they have an open ticket for this same recall that has been open since February 2024. I have had an open recall for 2 years...

On [XXX], at [XXX], my 2018 Dodge Ram Eco diesel engaged in fire. At this time, I called 911 and the Fire Department from which I obtained the fire report from respond and extinguish the fire. No police were ever dispatched. After exiting the vehicle, it seems like the vehicle was already on fire due to the progression of the fire already. I recently got the truck back from a local Dodge Dealership Cannon in Westpoint MS due to a high-pressure fuel pump recall. The truck also had another recall for failure of the EGR cooler. Crank no start and vehicle stops running.

I bought a 2018 Ram 1500 and every time I would go to the gas pump It Gets air bound and doesn't fill up it takes 20 minutes to fill up my tank they put a new gas tank a new neck and everything else and it still does it

Magnetic tone wheel. Driving on the interstate and the truck stalled and would not restart. Had to get it towed.

I have been getting regular mailings from Fiat Chrysler warning about the safety danger regarding the High pressure fuel pump for almost 2 years now. When I contact the dealer I am assured they will fix it when the fuel pump "grenades", but as long as the truck is running I shouldn't expect anything to be done. I have no fewer than three notices for the fuel pump and at least two for the "loss of crankshaft position" with no indications that anything will be done soon. Doing the math it looks like I can expect to be driving a safety hazard around for at least another 3-4 years and trying to sell it, like this, is unlikely. Recall was issued on June 9, 2022. As of today, 3/18/2024, this recall has not been fixed. Dealer claims: "Waiting for parts". Recall letter states: "Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning". Great! Good to know! And they can't fix it! This is a big problem for a lot of vehicles. These trucks don’t fuel well causing fuel to spill out of filler neck on ground or in my case all over me.

When trying to fill my tank with gas, the pump would automatically shut off. In order to fill my tank, I would have to pump the gas very slowly. This takes 15 minutes or more to fill my take. I checked to see if there were any recalls, however, there were 0 recalls. There were no warning lamps or other indicators associated with this problem.

manufacture won't bother to find fix for recall 22v-406 for 1 and 1/2 years

Unable to add fuel from any service station pump without the pump stopping many times. Unable to achieve a full tank of fuel. This is a known issue with Ram trucks and there are many complaints about this issue residing on the internet. This is a very unsafe situation, and the manufacture should correct this issue.

At 36,000 miles the fuel tank no longer would accept fuel. Dealer tried to manipulate fuel nozzle, but still didn't fix issue. I was stranded at gas stations trying to slow feed gas into the tank. I had to dribble in enough gas to make it to the dealer. Ultimate solution was to replace tank (outside of warranty). This was unsafe as I could have been stranded somewhere.

Truck is showing code p026c means truck is runing lean and it has to do with the fuel pump recall and parts are not yet available I need this issue fixed because I'll be getting station in germany

When driving the check engine light came on, the car slowed up and would not start after. I had the truck towed to the dealership. The service manager told me the high pressure fuel pump shattered and shot metal debris through the system. The High Pressure Fuel Pump is not available even though it is on a recall list. I contacted Chrysler customer service, the representative essentially told me there was nothing they can do because the part was not available.

3.0L diesel engine may have been built with a high pressure fuel pump ("HPFP") that could fail prematurely. Engine loss power then when is fully operational and stop at sing then then engine stalls the next thing happens suddenly accelerated.

I was driving down a country road with my kids in the car and my vehicle started to stall and then the engine turned off while the vehicle was still moving. Lucky I was not driving on a busy road and was able to get it safely off the roadway onto a dirt shoulder. The lightening bolt symbol on my truck was on as it was stalling. I contacted the dealership and was told there are no fixes for the recalls on my vehicle. They also related there are no loaner vehicles to give me. I do not feel safe driving my truck until these issues are fixed. I refuse to put the safety of my kids and myself at risk.

Manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy for the Z46 recall, the primary "intended" use of the vehicle is for towing, and as such I feel that the vehicle is unsafe for its "intended" use. I have contacted Mopar online, and I have contacted the dealership multiple times. With no resolution, or suggested remedy. I am simply left with a vehicle of questionable reliability which I feel is unreasonable.

I was on a 6 land highway, fast lane, when my dodge truck just stopped. I was almost hit and cause several accidents in trying to get to the shoulder of the road. I called a tow truck and again the driver and myself almost caused accidents in trying to get the truck loaded on the truck. I took it to a near by repair shot. They diagnosed the problem quickly. I then waited 6 weeks, yes 6 weeks for the crank position sensor to come in. That was back in April. Ever since then we have been trying to load the correct software because it still is not running right. This is dangerous. I also have an outstanding recall on this truck for the high pressure fuel pump. So that can go at anytime. What has happened to Dodge, I wish I never bought this truck.

Like to report due to lack of fix a recall as fuel starvation - which have a High pressure Fuel pump defective I ended paid the cost of Filter diesel plus other other damage parts. Now seems to be that I eat the cost of recall. Out the blue now the part is on order. I am very sure the High Pressure Fuel Pump is defectives has damage other components.

More than 1 year after a safety recall, there is still no remedy available. This is unacceptable for a safety issue. Now there is a new recall for the same issue that was previously recalled. Something seems fishy. Is my truck safe to drive? Buy it back if it can't be fixed. Seems reasonable to me.

Back March 2023 making a stop traffic the truck engine started stalling and lost power then suddenly accelerated. The same exact thing happens on 6/5/23. This vehicle has a recall for fuel starvation but nothing isn’t fixed - no remedy is offered- I don understand why a safety recall is issued my life is in danger along with any occupant passengers . If vehicle has a safety recall is for a reason enforce a remedy.

Recall on high pressure fuel pump is causing truck to keep struggling during driving , and sudden stop at street few times

when fueling the pump handle gets stuck in the tank and also cuts the pump handle off several times during the fueling process. This problem has not been checked out. The exhaust manifolds are tapping. This will not pass our state inspection. This was found after my state inspection by an independent service center. No warning lights, but can smell a bit of exhaust fumes when starting. The uconnect system is delaminating causing the system to malfunction. While driving the screen changes, changes radio stations, volume, makes phone calls including 911, turns heated seats and heated steering on, it adjusts the temperature from hot to cold, cold to hot and the degree setting. You can not shut the uconnect system off once it starts. Spoke to the Ram dealership and they said this is a common problem and very pricey to fix. Saftey issue being 1. dialing 911 while driving....

The problem is with the whole DEF System in the truck. for the last 6 months I can't go a week or less without getting some kind of code. Every time it effects the electronic throttle control and the truck goes into limp mode, I can be going 70 mph and it drops down to 30-40 mph no matter where I am at. I have almost been rear ended several times. I fix that code and a week later another code pops up and we do it all over again. I think I may have gone 2 weeks without a problem in the last 6 months. This time it is the DPF and DEF system, and here we go back into limp mode. I have had it to the dealer last week for issues which they couldn't figure out but thought that reprogramming would fix. This vehicle experienced a Diesel EGR Cooler failure, for which there is an open recall by FCA under VB1/NHTSA 19V-757. Repairs were completed at the shop where it had been taken for diagnostics, and subsequently I submitted a reimbursement request to FCA following all guidelines and submitting all documents requested. However, FCA is refusing to honor the recall reimbursement request. They state their reasons below: 1) Vehicle is out of warranty. (Warranty status should have no bearing on a recall repair) 2) Parts replaced are not covered under the recall. (Parts replaced were specifically covered under recall VB1) 3) Repairs were not completed at a dealership. (The reimbursement process was created specifically for repairs completed at other repair centers) The above reasons stated by FCA are not valid, but FCA continues to deny reimbursement. California has a rubber boot on their gas pumps to capture gas emissions - this forces a full insertion of the nozzle or the gas pump into the Dodge ram fuel filler neck when pumping gas the gas nozzle became lodged into the filler neck - I was unable to remove the gas pump from the filler neck - had to use screw driver to remove which resulted in the plastic housing of the filler neck to break This is dangerous and now could allow gas overflow from the broken housing -

I took my truck to the dealer Early 2022 for the recall. they couldn't help due to the shortage on the parts. I kept going every month because my truck was stalling. they kept telling me to leave them my email address and they will contact me when they get the parts for the recall. on August 30. I was driving on the freeway. I lost power. my truck couldn't go over 30 then declined to 25 then to 20mph. My truck start heating up really fast. I pulled a side and tow it to the dealer. Turning onto a main hwy, vehicle would not move forward. Response time for throttle was more than 5 seconds. Car behind me had to slam on their brakes on order to not hit me. Vehicle is continually having throttle response issues.

The filler pipe for filling up gas will not take the gas from gas station filler nozzle you have to constantly engage nozzle it automatically shuts off and then you have to engage nozzle multiple times to fill gas tank. Dealer wanted to replace entire tank and filler pipe for $800.00. You asked what date did this occur it’s every time you put gas into the truck.

Purchased truck from Covert Dodge in Taylor, TX 2019. Mid-End 2019 started having issues with the fuel pump would not fuel vehicle without constantly shutting off. This is a very annoying situation and eats up a great deal of time. I have to hold it where it barely runs the fuel in order to get it to fuel for more then 2 seconds. Gas attendant at Costco just thought I did not know how to fuel my truck and he too had the same issue. Dodge needs to own up to the problem and fix it. There are plenty of complaints about the issue. I do not think my next vehicle will be a dodge only because they do not own up to the well known problem. When filling up with gas, it will not fill up without the causing the nozzle's safety switch to continually auto shut off(clicking off). Meaning I have to barely squeeze the nozzle so fuel barely flows into the gas cap slot taking 20-30 minutes to fill up because I can not set the lock on the gas pump nozzle to automatic flow. This is happening at all Gas stations so it is not an issue with the shape of a specific stations pump nozzle. The colder the weather the worse this is. Took in to dealer for a maintenance to see if it was just the float, but the stated to me without them further looking into the problem and having to charge me, it appears it could mean a full fuel tank replacement.
