THE TRANSMISSION STARTED REVVING, THEN STALL OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING. UPON RE-STARTING IT, IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. JUST STALL OUT AGAIN. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT IT SINCE THEY RECALLED THE 2007 TO 2010 MODELS BUT HAVE NOT RECALLED THE 2012-2013 LATER MODELS AS YET. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FILED AS WELL AS SEVERAL LAWSUITS PENDING. NISSAN SHOULD STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A DEFECT THEY HAVE KNOW ABOUT FOR SOME TIME. WHILE THEIR CEO WAS ARRESTED FOR FINANCIAL IMPROPRIETIES, NISSAN IS BEING UNJUSTLY ENRICHED AT THE EXPENSIVE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.
VEHICLE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY, ENGINE SHUT OFF UNABLE TO MOVE VEHICLE TO SHOULDER OF ROAD, WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND DRIVE BACK TO HOME, A SECOND TIME CAR STOPPED AT A STREET SIGNAL. TOOK VEHICLE TO PURCHASING DEALER, ODOMETER READING 46000 MILES, DEALER STATED PROBLEMS WAS CVT TRANSMISSION, ALL WARRANTIES HAVE EXPIRED. DEALER ADVISED THAT NEW TRANSMISSION WOULD COST OUT OF POCKET TOATAL$350.00. WIFE HAS SIMILAR VEHICLE YEAR 2015 AND EXPERIENCING SAME ISSUES, VEHICLE SHOULD BE IN WARRANTY FOR TRANSMISSION REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH UPHILL, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD. ALSO, THE IGNITION AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, AND ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND SHUDDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FONTANA NISSAN (16444 S HIGHLAND AVE, FONTANA, CA 92336, (909) 574-2288) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND FURTHER TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
REPLACED CVT AT 89,000 MILES. AT 100,000 MILES NEW TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACED.
I BOUGHT MY CAR USED IN OCTOBER OF 2016 WITH I BELIEVE AROUND 20,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR RAN LIKE A TOP FOR A WHILE, BUT EVENTUALLY THE CAR STARTED LUNGING INTERMITTENTLY, MAKING LOUD SCRAPING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AND LOSING POWER TO THE WHEELS AND RED-LINING THE RPMS. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND HAVE HEARD NISSAN EMPLOYEES STATE "THESE HAVE PROBLEMS" "THEY ARE TERRIBLE" "THAT'S JUST HOW CVTS ARE" YET THEY WON'T FIX OR REPLACE IT. I AM NOW AT 60,200 MILES AND THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY JUST RAN OUT. THE DEALERSHIP WON'T FIX OR REPLACE IT AND I HAVE A CASE OPEN WITH NISSAN OF AMERICA. THIS IS A MASSIVE SAFETY ISSUE. IF I AM IN AN INTERSECTION AND MY CAR DECIDES TO NOT WORK, I COULD BE KILLED. THIS IS HONESTLY TERRIFYING AND I SEEMINGLY HAVE VERY LITTLE RECOURSE. I AM DOING...
FIRST ISSUE: WENT TO OPEN INSIDE DRIVER DOOR AND HEARD SOMETHING SNAP. NOW THE DOOR HANDLE JUST FLOPS BACK AND FORTH WITHOUT OPENING THE DOOR. SECOND ISSUE: I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BREAK AND TRIED TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFTER FROM PARK TO REVERSE. THE BUTTON THAT YOU WOULD PRESS TO SHIFT WOULDN'T MOVE. NOW MY CAR IS STUCK IN PARK. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES HAPPENED WITH THE CAR STOPPED. MY ONLY ISSUES IS SOMEONE WITH THE SAME CAR AND SAME YEAR HAS HAD BOTH ISSUES HAPPEN THE THEM AS WELL. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUR CAR IS MINE HAS 78,000 MILES AND HERS HAS 56000 MILES.
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SL - LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, RIGHT AROUND 55K, DELAYED RESPONSE WHEN ACCELERATING. SUDDEN LOSS OF ABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR DRIVE ANY POWER OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY. CAR STALLED IN DANGEROUS LOCATION IN MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY; COMPLETE INABILITY TO ACCELERATE.
THE TRANSMISSION FAILS TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY. HAD IT SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES INCLUDING CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. ONLY 85K MILES, AND THE CAR COMPLETELY CHOKED ONLY REACHING 20 MPH WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE INTO THE HIGHWAY. CURRENTLY GETTING SERVICED AT NISSAN OF BAKERSFIELD, HAVE 4 DAYS AND NO RESPONSE AS TO WHAT THE ISSUE COULD BE.
MY VEHICLE HAS 65K MILES AND HAS BEGAN TO HAVE STICKING GEARS. THE PROBLEM IS IS THAT AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE GEAR WILL NOT MOVE WHEN PRESSING THE BREAKS AND LOCK RELEASE BUTTON. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (IN MOTION), MY CAR (NISSAN ALTIMA 2013) STARTED JERKING EVERY FEW SECONDS WHEN ACCELERATING AND I WAS EXPERIENCING A LOSS OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS WAS DURING RUSH HOUR (5PM ON 695 IN BALTIMORE, MARYLAND) AND MY CAR BECAME A HAZARD TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER. WHEN THE ISSUE HAPPENED, THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS/LIGHTS DISPLAYED. UPON PULLING TO THE SHOULDER, I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF. AFTER STARTING THE CAR UP AGAIN AND PUTTING IT IN DRIVE, IT WOULD NOT DRIVE. MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. WHEN I GOT OFF THEY HIGHWAY I GOT STUCK AT A RED LIGHT ON A HILL AND THE CAR DIDN'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO GET UP THE HILL AND THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS IF I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. THE CAR IS AT 79,973 MILES AND THE NISSAN SERVICE CENTER SAYS THE CAR NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME TRANSMISSION BREAKING DOWN EARLIER THAN NORMAL. I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A NISSAN SERVICE CENTER AND PAY THEIR FEES TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED BEFORE THEY WOULD EVEN CONSIDER HELPING WITH THE COST OF REPAIRS. THEY STRUNG ME ALONG FOR 3 DAYS...JUST TO TELL ME THEY WOULD NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND WOULD NOT GIVE ANY ASSISTANCE. THIS IS PRETTY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER...

THE CAR CAN ROLL UPWARDS OF 20 FEET BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION CATCHES AFTER YOU GET THE CAR UP TO 2000+ RPMS. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ACTUAL ACCELERATE IMMEDIATELY EITHER. 2 DAYS AGO I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND HAD TO PUT MY FLASHERS ON AS I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE FINALLY STARTED TO WORK TOGETHER BUT NOT WELL. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. ALSO 2 DAY AGO THE CAR STALLED WHEN LEAVING A PARKING GARAGE. THIS COULD HAVE PROVEN TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF SHE WERE ACTIVELY PULLING INTO TRAFFIC.
THE TRANSMISSION WAS WORKING FINE AS WE WERE RUNNING ERRANDS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. THE CAR ALSO BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THEN STALL. ALL THIS HAPPENED IN MINUTES. THE CAR WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET CREATING AN UNSAFE POSITION. WE TOOK THE CAR TO AUTOZONE AFTER IT WOULD GO INTO GEAR AGAIN AND THEY PULLED A DIAGNOSTIC CODE OF P0776. THE CODE IS TRANSMISSION RELATED. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN ON CITY STREETS THAT NIGHT.
MY WIFE'S ALTIMA TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHEN DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE HAS WENT INTO LIMP MODE SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING IT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. SHE WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING DROP SPEED FROM ENGAGING LIMP MODE. VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 70K MILES AND THE DEALER STATES THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY DID NOT EXTEND THE CVT WARRANTY LIKE THEY HAD ON PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. NOW WE HAVE A VEHICLE THAT NEEDS A 4,000 TRANSMISSION AND HARDLY ANY MILEAGE THAT WOULD WARRANT A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT.

AT THE NEXT STOP LIGHT, THE CAR STALLED SO I SHIFTED THE GEAR SHIFT FROM DRIVE INTO PARK AND RE-STARTED THE CAR. THEN THE CAR STALLED AGAIN AS SOON AS I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. SO I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND RE-STARTED THE CAR AGAIN. THEN I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO DRIVE FROM NEUTRAL. AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN, I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. THEY (THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP) SEEM UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE SO NO REPAIRS ARE RECOMMENDED. UPON INVESTIGATING THIS FURTHER (INTERNET SEARCHES),...
"TAKATA RECALL" MY GEAR SHIFTER REMAINS IN A STUCK POSITION. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY ON A CITY STREET. I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO ANOTHER GEAR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE GOTTEN STUCK WITH MY TODDLER IN THE CAR AND WAS UNABLE TO MOVE TO A SAFER LOCATION. IT TOOK ME AT LEAST 15 MINUTES TO GET THE CAR TO SHIFT FROM PARK INTO GEAR. I WAS TERRIFIED! I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR IN ITS LOCATION AND TAKE A LYFT HOME WITH MY DAUGHTER. THE NEXT DAY MY LOCAL MECHANIC CAME TO CHECK THE CAR. HE SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR 2013 NISSAN ALTIMAS. HE SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR TO HIS SHOP TO INVESTIGATE WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THIS FAILURE OR I SHOULD CALL UP NISSAN BECAUSE THEY SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
I AM REPORTING A DANGEROUS CONDITION WITH 2013 NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSION. WITH NO WARNING INDICATOR THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 - 70 MPH.WHILE DRIVING IN MODERATE TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE REVVED TO 6000 RPM AND THE CAR WAS MOVING AT 20 MPH I WAS ABLE TO COAST THROUGH TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND START AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO AGAIN PROCEED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAILED TRANSMISSION THAT WILL COST APPROX. $3700 TO REPLACE. I FILED A CASE WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER CARE TO APPEAL TO THEM DUE TO THE RELATIVELY LOW MILES FOR SUCH A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. WE LEARNED TODAY THAT THEY ARE PROVIDING NO COVERAGE FOR US DUE TO THE CAR BEING OUT OF...
CVT TRANSMISSION WENT ON MY ALTIMA. MY WARRANTY RAN OUT IN FEBRUARY OF 2018, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN MAY OF 2018. THE COMPANY PAID FOR HALF $2200 AND I HAD TO PAY THE OTHER HALF. I FEEL WITH ALL THE ISSUES NISSAN IS EXPERIENCING WITH THEIR CVT I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY ANYTHING.

IN 2017 NISSAN HAS ME COME IN FOR A CVT TRANSMISSION UPGRADE. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE AT THE NISSAN OF COOL SPRINGS AND I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS RUNNING ROUGH, SHAKING, AND JOLTING WHEN I ACCELERATED. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED DEALERSHIP AND ASKED TO HAVE A TECH DRIVE THE CAR TO EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM. THE TECH GOT IN, RODE OFF, CAME BACK AND SAID IT WAS ALL RUNNING FINE. I ACCEPTED THAT AND ASSUMED IT WAS ONLY A MOMENTARY PROBLEM. I GOT BACK IN MY CAR AND IT WAS STILL DOING IT. I CAME BACK AND ASKED THE TECH TO RIDE WITH ME. IT DID IT WITH HIM IN THE CAR AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR HAD TO "ADAPT TO MY DRIVING STYLE." 2018, AT 48,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED TO STALL ON ME WHEN IT WAS IDLE. IT WOULD START RIGHT BACK...

I WAS TOLD MY WARRANTY EXPIRED 2000 MILES AGO AND ITS GONNA COST ME $3500 FOR A NEW ONE. IVE ONLY OWNED MY CAR FOR 2 YRS. I AM SO DISSATISFIED WITH NISSAN AND THEY ARE SO UNPROFESSIONAL TO NOT FIX THIS KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THERE CVT ISSUES ON ALL THEIR VEHICLES.. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES ON BOTH DOORS..
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED THE REVS BOUNCE UP TO 5. IT THEN DROPPED DOWN AND MY CAR LOST POWER. I PULLED ON TO THE SHOULDER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND IT STARTED OK. PULLED OFF ONTO THE NEXT EXIT AND STOPPED. WENT TO PROCEED THROUGH STOP SIGN. ACCELERATED AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE. IT'S AT THE SHOP NOW. POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I AM EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT CVT FAILURES AT MILEAGE: 45000. ONCE I WAS STATIONARY AND IN THE OTHER INSTANCE I WAS ON THE CITY STREET, WHEN I EXPERIENCED SUDDEN POWER LOSS, ALL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WHENEVER I STARTED MY CAR AND PUT IT IN REVERSE OR DRIVE IT JUST TURNED OFF. AFTER 4 TO 5 TRIES CAR STARTED. I LOOKED UP ONLINE AND IT HAD SYMPTOMS SIMILAR TO THE CVT FAILURE. I WENT TO NISSAN SERVICE CENTRE TWICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING AND SAID EVERYTHING IS IN PERFECT CONDITION.
07/09/2013 TOOK CAR IN FOR A CVT REPROGRAM, I NOTICED THE CHANGES IN SHIFTING BUT THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO THE SOFTWARE REPROGRAM,ON 08/23/2018 WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ENGINE SHUTS OFF, MANAGE TO START IT UP AND DROVE HOME, LATER ON THAT EVENING I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND WHEN I SHIFT TO REVERSE OR DRIVE THE CAR WILL CUT OFF, 08/30/2018 TOWED MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION, NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS CVT I JUST DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR A TRANSMISSION.

AGAIN TODAY DRIVING TO WORK AND CAR LOST ALL POWER AND A HUMMING SOUND ACTED LIKE WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR PULLED OVER THIS TIME TOOK SITTING APPX 1 HOUR THEN STARTED AND WAS OK TO GET BACK HOME AND I PARKED IT
CAR WOULD TURN OFF WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR IDLE. WOULD START BACK UP, BUT TURN BACK OFF WHEN PUT IN DRIVE. THE WORST TIME THIS WAS EXPERIENCED WAS DURING AN ON RAMP MERGER ON THE HIGHWAY.
CVT TRASMISSION HAS FAILED AFTER 76000 MILES. CAUSES CAR TO DIE WHILE DRIVING, AND WHILE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP.

MY NISSAN ALTIMA STARTING BUMPING WHEN DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE CVT TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD. NISSAN WILL NOT COVER THE TRANSMISSION EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW CVT GOES BAD IN ALL OF THEIR MODELS AFTER 60,000 WHICH IS WHEN THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT!
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SL WITH 66K. TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACED AT 66K MILES. NISSAN DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE. AFTER HEARING IT WOULD COST ME OVER 3700 TO REPLACE I BEGAN DOING RESEARCH ON THESE CVT TRANSMISSION. IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE CVTS. SO WITH ALL OF THE BAD REVIEWS ON THE INTERNET, I INQUIRED WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WITH ASSISTANCE IN THIS COST. I WAITED A WEEK FOR THEM TO TELL ME THEY WILL NOT ASSIST ME IN THIS REPAIR. NISSAN HAS RECALLED A NUMBER OF YEARS AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 60K TO 120K. THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS. THE PROBLEM WITH THE 2013 NISSAN ALIMA CVT 2.5 MODEL. THE CAR STOPS WHEN IDELING WHICH CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE ROAD. THE RPM WILL FLUCTUATE WITHOUT WARNING AND GEARS SLIPPING AT ROAD SPEEDS. SIMILAR CASES HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED IN VARIOUS FORUM AND NISSAN IS NOT WILLING TO TAKE THIS AS THERE RESPONSIBILTY OF CREATING AN INFERIOR QUALITY PRODUCT. IT IS TIME NISSAN OWNS UP TO IT
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR STARTED MAKING A STRANGE NOISE, SHIFTING HARD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON...I DECIDED TO LEAVE THE HIGHWAY AS THE CAR WAS LOSING SPEED. AT THE FIRST LIGHT, THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD... THE TROUBLE IS THAT I DID NOT REALIZE UNTIL THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND CARS IN FROM OF ME STARTED MOVING AND I COULDN'T ALMOST GOT HIT FROM BEHIND BY INCOMING CARS. ENDED UP MOVING SLOWLY TO THE SIDE. GOT THE CAR TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER THAT ADVISED THAT IT A CVT FAILURE. MY CAR HAS 83K MILES, NISSAN IS NOT WILLING TO HELP.
MY CAR RECENTLY TODAY STATED TO LOCK THE DEAR SHIFT WHEN I PARK IT STARTED THIS MORNING AND HAS CONTINUED EVERY TIME I TURN OFF MY CAR. PREVIOUS ISSUE I TOOK IT IN TO NISSAN TYNANS ON HAVANA IN AURORA CO (NEVER GO THERE) BECAUSE IT IS SPUTTERING ANY TIME I ACCELERATE AT ANY SPEED ON ANY ROAD RIGHT BEFORE IT WOULD WHAT YOU CALL BACK IN THE DAY SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR. TYNANS FIRST SAID IT WAS A BATTERY CABLE AND WHEN IT WASNT FIXED THEY ARE SAY THERE ISNT ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I BELIEVE THE CVT IS CAUSING IT TO SPUTTER I TOLD TYNANS I THOUGHT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE TO BEGIN WITH. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY CAR IS NOT FIXED AND IS STILL SPUTTERING AND JUST BOUGHT IT OWE ABOUT $14000 STILL!
TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 44K MILEAGE. FIRST THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR SIGNS ON HIGHWAY. THEN AFTER REPROGRAMMING OF THE TRANSMISSION BY DEALER, CAR RUNS ABNORMALLY. ENGINE RPM UNSTABLE, UNPREDICTABLE, CAUSING SPEED CHANGES. NO PEDAL RESPONSE OR SLOW ACCELERATION. DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE, ESPECIALLY OVER 40 MPH. GEAR SHIFTING BETWEEN D AND N VERY OFTEN LEAVE THE GEAR IN N FOR A FEW SECONDS.
THE GEAR SHIFT IN MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA STOPPED WORKING. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ON YOUTUBE AND IT SAID THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR WAS NOT RELAYING INFORMATION TO THE GEAR SHIFT. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE EMERGENCY SHIFT LOCK MUST BE USED TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK.THE PROBLEM BEGAN GRADUALLY, WITH THE GEAR SIFT BECOMING "STUCK" WHEN SHIFTING, AND IN A MATTER OF 2 MONTHS, THE GEAR SHIFT HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS GOING FROM PARK TO ANY OTHER GEAR IT WILL NOT SHIFT. ONCE IT IS TAKEN OUT OF PARK, IT WILL SHIFT BETWEEN ANY GEARS WITH NO PROBLEM, UNTIL IT IS PLACED BACK IN PARK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPOND WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE SPEED REDUCED BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (GERMAIN NISSAN OF COLUMBUS, 4600 MORSE RD, COLUMBUS, OH) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
IN JULY/AUGUST OF 2017, MY VEHICLE WAS SPUTTERING AT LOWER SPEEDS WHEN ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING AND THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY TURN OFF. THERE WERE SEVERAL SCENARIOS WHEN THIS HAPPENED DURING BUSY TRAFFIC. UPON RECEIVING A MANUFACTURER RECALL, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE ON THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER SYSTEM. ALL SEEMED FIXED UNTIL JUNE OF 2018 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, AGAIN WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THE TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER WAS DAMAGED AND I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $4,300. UPON INTERNET RESEARCH, IT SEEMS THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM FOR NISSAN'S CVT TRANSMISSION; IN FACT, NISSAN EXTENDED 2012 AND PREVIOUS MODELS TRANSMISSION WARRANTIES TO 10 YEAR 120,000 MILES. SO FAR, NISSAN HAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE OR GOOD WILL IN FIXING THE DEFECTED...
THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE. AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE RPMS INCREASED WITHOUT ANY INCREASE IN SPEED. AS I ATTEMPTED TO EXIT INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE STALLED BEFORE EXIT RAMP. MULTIPLE VEHICLES HAD TO MANEUVER AROUND ME. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK ON SHOULDER OF INTERSTATE AND LET ABOUT 5 MINUTES GO BY BEFORE TESTING ACCELERATION. UPON TESTING, IT MAINTAINED ENOUGH SPEED (25 MPH TOP SPEED) FOR ME TO EXIT INTERSTATE AND RETURN TO DEALERSHIP NEAR ME. ONCE I MADE IT TO DEALERSHIP, CAR SHUT OFF. IT HAD JUST BEEN REPAIRED FOR SOME RECALL CENTERED AROUND TRANSMISSION.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THE CAR SHUTTERED AND CUT OFF AFTER HAVING STOPPED FOR A LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I PRESS THE EXHILARATOR TO CONTINUE ON. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK APPLIED MY FOOT TO THE BREAK AND RESTARTED THE CAR. EVERY TIME I WOULD DRIVE TO PUT THE CAR IN GEAR IT WOULD CUT OFF. IT KEPT DOING THIS OVER AND OVER. LOCAL POLICE CAME AND WITH THE HELP OF A GOOD SAMARITAN PUSHED MY CAR OFF THE ROAD TO A SAFE PLACE. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SAID THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER TEST DID NOT SHOW ANY CODES FOR THE PROBLEM. THEY ENDED UP UPDATING THE TRANSMISSION MODULE AND SAID THEY HOPED THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR AND I HAVE HAD TO AVOID STOPPING AT LIGHTS DUE...
I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 113 MILES ON IT. I HAVE SENSE PUT 160K HIGHWAY MILES ON IT BUT HAVE HAD NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW BECAUSE I GET IT SERVICED REGULARLY. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK LAST WEEK AND AT 30-45 MPH THE RPMS STARTED JUMPING BETWEEN 1K AND 2K. I GOT A SECOND OPINION AND I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP I SERVICE IT AT THAT IT WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED WHEN THEY TOLD ME TO, YET THERE...

I SPOKE WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON MAY 29TH AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REGIONAL CONSUMER MANAGER WOULD CALL. JASON DID CALL AND SAID HE HAD TO RESEARCH. ON TUESDAY, JUNE 5TH, THE DECISION WAS THAT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT COVER...
CONTINUOUS ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION. WHEN CAR GETS HOT, WHICH CAN BE WITHIN MINUTES LIVING IN ARIZONA, THE GAS PEDAL WHEN FLOORED, BARELY INCREASES SPEED FROM A STOP. CAR HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR SERVICE OF THIS ISSUE. 1ST TIME A COOLER WAS ADDED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THEN A RECALL WAS ISSUED AND WE BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN. THINGS WERE WORKING FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. NOW THAT THE WEATHER IS STARTING TO WARM UP, THE ISSUE IS OCCURRING AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, NO CODES/ERRORS APPEARED. THE ISSUE CONTINUES. AFTER SPEAKING WITH A COUPLE OF REPUTABLE MECHANICS, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND THERE IS NO KNOWN FIX. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR.
I HAVE A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 45K MILES ON IT. THE CAR STARTS UP AND IDLES IN PARK JUST FINE. HOWEVER, WHEN I SHIFT IT INTO GEAR (DRIVE OR REVERSE), THE CAR SPUTTERS AND STALLS. CAR WILL NOT RELEASE FROM PARK UNLESS YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKE RELEASE BUTTON. THIS HAPPENED AS MY CAR REACHED 65K MILES. THIS COULD BE A HUGE ISSUE AND SAFETY IF SOMEONE WAS TO BE STRANDED OUT SOMEWHERE AND THEY ARE H ABLE TO LEAVE BECAUSE THERE CAR WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK. THIS PROBLEM IS AFFECTING A LOT OF VEHICLES COMING OUT OF NISSAN.
MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AND IT ONLY HAS 70000 MILES ON IT, I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. I THINK EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE REIMBURSED OR SOME FORM OF COMPENSATION FOR THIS PROBLEM.
