The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop, the RPM became elevated, and the vehicle started accelerating unintendedly. The contact immediately depressed the brake pedal and entered a parking lot where the vehicle lost automotive power, and the engine shut off. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,073.
Shift sticks in Park position. Intermittent problem happening often.
I have been told by Nissan dealership and Christian brothers Automobile and Midas my CVS transmission is defective- factory defective. It often slips and gets hot and emits an odor I now have transmission flushed and serviced every 30,000 miles per dealer suggestions- no one thinks this was good and I’d factory defective— help me I bought this to be my last car serviced as suggested I’m told Nissan knows it but refuses to do a recall ????? Please told nothing I can do surely Nissan recognizes this and will recall it
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving approximately 50-55 MPH, the transmission suddenly failed, and the vehicle started losing power while decelerating. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road from an off-ramp. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.
I bought this car from Auto Auction Group Inc in Los Angeles, Ca. When I bought the vehicle it read 103,158 miles on the odometer, however I learned recently through a car fax, that when the car was received by auto auction group it had 222,854. They rolled back the odometer committing fraud and putting me at risk and selling me a lemon that was basically on its way to break down sooner rather than later. I also learned they had erased the check engine warning so it seemed like the car was fine.
I have had this vehicle for a few years, this car only have 118,333 mile on it, it stop working on me in the middle of the road. The dealership said the transmission went out in the vehicle but I’m not sure how that was possible. I could pay the price for the vehicle to be fixed with them because it was very pricey but didn’t know that many people with this year model have had the same complaints with the transmission. They never stated that the car had a recall about the transmission, I feel this is not right and something was hinted from me.
Unsafe to drive due to transmission not registering lower gears when at complete stop, takes full minute before gears accelerate. I have unexpectedly stalled in the middle of traffic and was almost rear ended. Going under the legal miles per hour on standard roads causing delays in traffic and potential Fire Risk due to overheating because of transmission issues. Potential harm to myself and others by causing collisions. Big O's in Boise Idaho (208) 996-1306 has confirmed it is unsafe to drive 10/29/2024. appointment with Nissan dealership 10/30/2024 Check engine light has failed to appear. The closure of a class action lawsuit over CVT transmission issues in vehicles like the 2013 Nissan Altima, without a recall, poses significant safety risks. Without a recall, critical transmission problems such as stalling, power loss, or erratic shifting remain unresolved for many drivers. Financial constraints may prevent owners from paying out-of-pocket for expensive repairs,...
Power train gives out when car warms up. I’ve had fluids checked for the power train and Everything was fine. When on high way power train would either jerk tremendously or just give out. It almost caused me to wreck one day ass there was a truck behind me who nearly avoided rear ending me because the car completely slowed down.
I bought the car at 48, 750 miles at 71,000, transmission was sputtering and stalling. Extended warranty from Zurich paid for new parts in an old transmission. Now, car is at 106,000, transmission is shot, it is banging and knocking while driving.
Hello, I took my Nissan Altima into my local Nissan dealer for a hood latch recall on 11/13/2023. On [XXX] at about [XXX] I was driving my car at a speed of maybe 45-50mph and my hood flew open hitting my windshield causing damage to my car, and scaring my son and I. I called the dealer the next morning and spoke to Anthony from the service department regarding this situation, and he stated a faulty latch could have been put on my car, causing this to happen. I sent pictures to him via email, and he advised that he would contact the director and call me back with an update. I received a callback within hours advising Nissan would cover the damages but I would need to contact consumer affairs to see which location could do the repairs as they were behind by 8 month at that location in...
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while accelerating and jerked intermittently. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had been diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 90,200.
There is a known cvt transmission issue with certain years of different models of Nissans. My sons car recently started hesitating and not accelerating when pulling out of intersections. I took the vehicle to Nissan and was told that there is a known issue and they have extended warranties on the issue but my sons car was out of warranty and they were not willing to assist due to no recalls as of yet. The issue with the car hesitating is a huge safety concern. They recommended a new transmission for 6500.00.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while attempting to shift from park(P) to drive(D), the gear shift lever failed to move as needed. The contact stated that the gear shifter also failed to shift to reverse(R). The contact stated that she had to move the shifter back and forth until the gear shifter responded. The contact stated that the failure had become a recurring failure. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the shifter assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,756.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that an unknown component needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and was also serviced under two unrelated recalls; however, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was sputtering and jerking while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was then taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the CVT controller needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
Cat transmission when out for the second time
While driving my vehicle when trying to accelerate it wouldn’t go above 20mph had to hit the brakes then vehicle would just accelerate real fast I was in traffic with my kids thank god we wasn’t hurt Nissan needs to recall this situation it’s affecting a lot of 2013 and up
My power steering somehow had a slow leak which caused steering wheel to lock on while driving. Also, when I turn it sounds like a clucking sound like something is wrong with my power train. When I drive my accelerator seems like it be taking its time to catch up to speed. I've done did so much mechanical work to this car and it seems like nothing is working.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and approaching a stop light, the vehicle started shaking violently. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic replaced the wheel bearing, performed an alignment, and replaced the tires; however, the failure persisted. On another occasion, while accelerating, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle started operating normally. The vehicle was taken to any independent mechanic, but no failure was found. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000.
While driving the vehicle the car shut off while driving on the Highway in traffic. When the vehicle came to a complete stop after thankfully not being in a collision the vehicle would start but wouldn't go into drive. It was later Determined that the Transmission suffered a catastrophic failure for the second time. The Transmission has less than 17K on it and the first Transmission failed at 41K Nissan should be held accountable for producing a Transmission that can cause a catastrophic accident due to a complete Mechanical failure on a piece of equipment that Nissan Produced. Nissan and the government agencies are aware of the issues with these vehicles and failures to take action.Shame on Both.
My 2013 Nissan Altima only has 121,000 miles and is only driven 1 time per week all highway miles. This week my car broke down in the middle of several intersections....very dangerous! I was almost hit several times because my car would just die when trying to take off. I never had any warning or warning lights appear. I was told by Nissan dealership I had transmission failure related to the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). I now need a new transmission which costs $5,000.00. This is an ongoing issue with Nissan and CVT Transmissions. I would like to see Nissan make it right for their consumers that purchased their 2013 Nissan Altima and other models/years only to have the transmission fail due to faulty CVT transmissions that Nissan is aware of and will not take responsibility for or do anything to help. Year after year they continue to use the...
doing 55 or 60 the car goes into limp mode and wont let me go more then 35 to 45 at times its a safety hazard as cars almost ran right into the back of my car if nissan dont fix the issue i will hire a lawyer and sue nissan its not worth losing my life or the life of others in my car GET THIS ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF NOW....i have called nissan in mansfield about this issue 3 different times ive emailed nissan and still to this day they have not reached out to me
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, he heard abnormally loud sounds coming from the transmission. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road, turned off, and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle responded as needed and the contact continued driving. However, the contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
CVT Failure yes it is available for inspection at this time. I was driving down Massachusetts Route 114 and slowed as approaching a traffic light the car shook and sputtered and shut off and could not get it to move as cars behind me were speeding up behind me the car would start again but shut off when placed in gear could not move from the middle of the road. Yes my safety and the people speeding up behind me were at risk. The dealer has confirmed that the CVT transmission has failed this is a known Nissan problem. No warning until the time it happened the engine light came on as it died. Nissan should be required to recall this known part failure instead of placing lives in danger.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, while slowing the vehicle for traffic ahead, the vehicle started to shake with the steering wheel jerking to the left and the right. The contact was able to slow the vehicle however, the vehicle was shaking abnormally. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle failure occurred constantly. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the CVT transmission and front and rear suspension needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact was informed that the drive train and bearing needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while his son was driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle was shuddering significantly and the parking brake engaged independently, which locked the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times the same day. The son was able to restart the vehicle on each occasion. However, the failure persisted and the contact's son could no longer start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) software needed to be updated. However, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) module was replaced. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who reprogrammed the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) module. However, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified...
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while at a red traffic light, the vehicle stalled and vibrated, and then lost motive power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact then restarted the vehicle and drove to her destination; however, the vehicle lost motive power again. The vehicle remained at the location for a day; the contact then returned and noticed the transmission fluid had drained out onto the ground. The local mechanic confirmed the transmission fluid leak. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer out of town and diagnosed with transmission failure; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the transmission was repaired by another mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.
1) Driver’s side airbag warning light is on all the time, constant red. 2) Transmission shift lever would not move out of park and had to be replaced @ 115,000 at a cost of $954. 3) The transmission failed and had to be replaced at 118,000 at a cost of $4,500. When I contacted Nissan about these issues, I was told that there was nothing they could do.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while her grandson was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to properly accelerate. The vehicle then lost motive power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 144,000.
I own a 2013 Nissan Altima SV with about 70,000 miles. It had an extended warranty, that expired late May 2021 and started have problems thereafter. The CVT transmission would cause the car to lunge and stall when shifting from park. The car would stall once you backed out onto the road. Several times at a busy traffic signal, the car would lunge forward, even though you had your foot on the brake. I had the car towed to the local dealer after the first incident. They kept the car about 4 days, but mainly worked on the recalls. They said, nothing showed up on diagnostic. However, I drove my car south about 1000 miles and the situation became worse. Made an appointment, at the local dealership and drove my car there. Within 1 hour, the service guy stated I needed a new transmission, a $5,600 repair. It was mentioned...
I key system error. Engine control module malfunction. Car loses power when accelerating, not safe when driving on road. Car will not start up at times.
I was driving on a road that is 40 mph. I was getting close to a stop light that had been red and cars had not moved yet once the light turned greened. I started pressing my brake to slow down and my cars emergency brake came on by itself and I got stuck in the middle of the road. My cars brake light and battery light came ln and the car was stuck- could not change gears or drive . I had to turn the car on and off five or six times in order for it to finally I brake itself and let me drive very slowly. Got the car checked by two auto shops, one was Nissan and the other David’s Auto repair Service . David’s said code P17F1 and I would need a new transmission. Nissan said it was my battery , got my battery changed...
CVT- erratic shifting, shuddering .The same well known problems that Nissan knows about.
While driving, the vehicle began to make a loud noise followed by shuddering. It was taken to the dealership and a code was returned that indicated a transmission failure. This same CVT Transmission was replaced in August 2017 and has been driven only 23,000 more. While Nissan is aware that their transmissions are defective, they offer no assistance outside of the limited warrant that only lasts 3 years. No warning light appeared.
Transmission shifter would not come out of park have put new transmission fluid in this car twice in 112,000 miles Had to replace whole shifter assembly 1300.00 been warned this CVS TRANSMISSION DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED EVERYONE INCLUDING DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS TRANSMISSION IS NO GOOD AND NEED TO CHANGE FLUID AND FLUSH EVERY 30,000 miles now … 300.00 to do it !!!! I’ve owned 3 Nissans never had anything like this 😞
THE CAR STARTS GOOD ENGINE SOUNDS GOOD BUT WHEN YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE THE CAR TURNS OFF
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power without warning. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle however, after several attempts the vehicle failed to start-up. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who replaced the transmission fluid; however, while the contact was driving home, the failure recurred without warning. The contact attempted to notify the manufacturer but was unsuccessful. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
Known issue of cvt transmission needs replaced... original owners did not receive notification and was denied warranty when presented the issue
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle suddenly jerked and would no longer accelerate properly. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact indicated that the transmission was previously replaced for the same failure, but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 97,722.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the gear shifter would remain stuck in the park position and a screwdriver was used to unlock the gear shift lever. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the gear shift actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while his wife was driving 55 MPH, the vehicle began to jerk and then seized. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to a storage garage. The contact called and notified the local dealer about the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
Gear shift got stuck in park one day at grocery store. When trying to shift out of park the gear shift will not shift. We had to engage the shift override button using a screwdriver. This is dangerous because having the shift override button exposed makes it easy for anyone to shift the car out of park accidentally. We plan to take the vehicle to a dealer on 10/1/2021 to have it inspected. Second issue : low beam headlights are very dim not bright at all making it difficult to see at night without using my high beams which is dangerous to myself and other drivers.
When trying to shift out of park the gear shift will not shift. We have had to engage the shift override button using a screw driver. From what we have researched online it has happened to many people with a 2014 Nissan Altima. This is dangerous because having the shift override button exposed makes it easy for anyone to shift the car out of park accidentally and without mashing the break to do so. We have had this inspected by a mechanic and it was going to cost over $1000 because we would have to have the entire shift assembly replaced rather than just the part affected by this issue.
Steering it’s heavy A/C stop working it self Airbag check light on dashboard
my car over heats passanger door wont open from the inside its a latch issue ive told the dealer ship in mansfield and they done nothing about it front suspenction has issues still dealer does nothing about it every since they did the recall update with programing my car its like my tranny slips and jerks
car over heats passanger door latch suspention in front is messed up when they did the computer update as a recall my car tranny slips and jerks it sucks more gas
CVT Transmission failed when driving on interstate. The car lost power, jerked and stopped. I have a special needs child (3 year old) in the car during the incident and it almost put both of our lives in danger. We followed all the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations for the engine and transmission and changing the fluid and filters at the proper recommended mileage and time. All services including a transmission fluid (last one on Dec 2020) were done at the dealership. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING SIGNS. THERE ARE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES ALSO WHEN TESTED AT THE DELERSHIP. NO WARNING SIGNS ALSO. THIS IS THE SCARY PART OF THE PROBLEM. It just broke down all at once in the middle of interstate. When towed to the dealership, they said, it would cost about $4500 to replace transmission. My car has only 75k miles on it and Nissan extended transmission warranty up...
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while at a stop sign, the vehicle began to hesitate and jerk upon the depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact also stated that an abnormal whining sound would emit from the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure persisted until she started driving above 40 MPH. The contact called an independent mechanic who informed her that the failure appeared to be related to the transmission. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
The original transmission on this car failed and I had it replaced at a Nissan Dealership. In less than two years, the new transmission also failed. I was driving on the highway and transmission gave up and the vehicle would not accelerate putting my Life and others' life in danger/unsafe. I contacted Nissan consumer/customer service and the case manager was not helpful and literally, stonewalled my concerns. Gross negligence by Nissan about the vehicle owners and their safety. The Nissan Altima cars that were manufactured between 2013-2015 are pure LEMONS.
1. The vehicle component that failed was the transmission. The manner in which it failed was total, rendering the vehicle unable to move under its own power. This failure occurred while moving in traffic on a heavily trafficked divided highway. 2. The driver and other occupant of the vehicle were put at great personal risk by being in a disabled vehicle amidst surrounding traffic moving at 40-60 MPH. Occupants of an additional vehicle that stopped behind the disabled vehicle were also put at great personal risk for the same reason. Law enforcement officers who arrived to assist were required to block multiple lanes of oncoming traffic with their duty vehicles. These law enforcement officers were further put at risk by having to push the disabled vehicle 100+ yards through traffic at the aforementioned speeds before it could be safely moved off the roadway. Passing motorists were at great risk of...
While I was driving and had stopped at a red light. When the light turned green the vehicle wouldn’t move and instead shut down. It would power normally again, but when the car is shifted into drive, the car shuts down again. This is incredibly dangerous as my car was stopped in the middle of the road during rush hour. I was lucky to not have been hit. There were no warning signs. It happened very suddenly. I took my car to the dealership and they said my car needs a transmission replacement (car is a 2013 and 61k miles). I found out that there was a class action lawsuit that took place in 2020 for the very problem in the make, year and model of my car (CVTs in many 2013-2016 models). Nissan never recalled the transmissions but instead settled for an extended warranty which ended May 2020 for...
