THE VEHICLES LOW BEAM LIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DEM AND HARD TO SEE WITH THEM ON. THEY HAVE GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME AND PUTTING IN NEW EXPENSIVE HEADLIGHT HAVE NOT HELPED. THE TRANSMISSION STILL SOMETIMES IN A HIGHER RMP. I HAVE TO TAP ON THE BRAKE TO GET IT UNSTUCK IN THAT RPM.
THE TORQUE CONVERTER WOULD SEIZE IF THE CAR SLOWED DOWN CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. RESTARTING THE CAR WOULD BE NO PROBLEM (IN PARK OR NEUTRAL) AND IT IDLED FINE. AS SOON AS YOU PUT IT IN GEAR, THE PROBLEMATIC TORQUE CONVERTER WOULD CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL AGAIN. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY (01/23/2020) AT POUGHKEEPSIE NISSAN (NY) GETTING FIXED.
CVT FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO SLIPPAGE. STALLS RANDOMLY IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. RESTARTED AFTER 5 MINUTES AND DROVE FINE AGAIN. HAD TO SPEND $250 IN TOWING FEES IN THE SAME WEEK. NISSAN DIDN'T ADMIT CVT FAULT KNOWINGLY. HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER THEIR RECALL ON THE TCM TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING. SHAME ON YOU, NISSAN!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL WHINING AND GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BEARING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER HUGH WHITE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (250 COLUMBUS RD SUITE A, ATHENS, OH 45701 (740) 594-8555) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED FOR THE 2ND TIME AND DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS STILL PENDING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY 80% OF THE REPAIR COST. A CASE WAS ALSO OPENED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. PETERSBURG, FL 33714, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,010.
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WHEN VEHICLE SLOWS. SOMETIMES THE CAR DIES AS A RESULT. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR THUS CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD SUCH AS GETTING STUCK IN AN INTERSECTION OR IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE, BUT ON NEW YEAR'S EVE WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR, MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA STALLED WHILE IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I DIDN'T DRIVE IT YESTERDAY (NEW YEARS DAY), AND BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FIRST THING THIS MORNING TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT (JAN 2). I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION! IT IS SHOCKING TO ME THAT A 6 Y.O. CAR -- WITHOUT ANY PROGRESSION OF SYMPTOMS OR ANY WARNING LIGHTS WHATSOEVER -- WOULD NEED AN ENTIRELY NEW TRANSMISSION. THESE SEEMS LIKE A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM TO ME, AS A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED NUMEROUS NISSAN OWNERS COMPLAINING OF NEEDING TO REPLACE THEIR CVT PREMATURELY.
MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA SL VIN: [XXX] IS NOT ALLOWING ME TO SHIFT WHEN PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE TO USE A PENCIL/ETC IN THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BYPASS AREA EVERYTIME. SEARCHING THE WEB AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY CARS ARE HOBBLED BY A THIN PIECE OF METAL ON A CHEAP $3 MICRO SWITCH IN THE SHIFTER. BENDING THE SMALL METAL TAB ON THE MICRO SWITCH APPARENTLY CAN FIX THE ISSUE SO IT MAKES CONTACT AGAIN. DEALERS WANT $700 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WHICH IS OUTRAGEOUS. MY CAR IS A 2013 WITH LESS THAN 40,000 MILES. IN THE MATTER OF 5 DAYS, THE TRANSMISSION HAS DECLINED SIGNIFICANTLY. WHEN AT A STOPLIGHT, MY CAR WILL SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. I HAVE TO PARK IT, TURN IT OFF, THEN CRANK IT BACK UP. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, IT WILL STALL AS IF I HAVE IT IN NEUTRAL. EVEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, MY RPM WILL BE FLUCTUATING, BUT MY ACCELERATION WOULDN'T CHANGE. IT WOULD STALL AT 40MPH, MAKE A JERKING MOTION, THEN PICK UP A LITTLE SPEED. TODAY IT BARELY WENT PAST 20MPH. NISSAN WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE, WHICH IS CLEARLY THEIR FAULT! NOW I HAVE TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION PAID OUT OF MY OWN POCKET.
ENGINE SHUTTERING, HESITATING AND SURGING AT LOW SPEEDS. HAPPENING FOR 2 DAYS AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE SINCE IT BEGAN.

I WAS ABPUT TO MAKE A TURN WHILE IN MIDDLE OF BUSY 4 WAY INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR TURNED OFF AND ABRUBTLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. I TRIED TO TURN CAR BACK ON BUT IT WOULD NOT START. BYSTANDERS CAME AND HELPED MOVE CAR TO SAFE SIDE OF STREET. TRIED TO START CAR AFTER TRYING TO CHANGE GEARS. THEN IT WAS MOVING SLUGGISH . THEN IT DROVE AGAIN. BUT THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN . TOOK TO NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS CAR HAD ONLY 100,000 MILES. I HAVE 4 OTHER NISSANS THAT HAVE LASTED OVER 200,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE. I HAVE SUBMITTED ALSO TO KCC CAMPAIN COMPLAINTS WEBSITE.
MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA'S CVT IS FAULTY. THE TRANSMISSION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHUTTER AT ANY SPEED AND RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF. ADDITIONALLY, AT A MOMENTS NOTICE IT WILL REV UP IN RPMS AND NOT GO ANYWHERE. IT STALLS IN TRAFFIC WHICH HAS CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. IT HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAYS, CITY STREETS AND SIMPLY BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY.

WHEN THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. WHEN THE SHIFTER WAS PLACED IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE STALLED. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION MADE A NOISE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED ONCE IT WAS WARMED UP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
UNABLE TO RELEASE VEHICLE FROM P POSITION BY PRESSING THE BRAKE. THE BYPASS BUTTON HAS TO BE PRESSED IN ORDER TO RELEASE.
THE CAR HAS HAD NO PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION - NOTE THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY TRANSMISSION STARTED TO STUTTER AND THE RPM'S WOULD MOMENTARILY REV VERY HIGH. AFTER DRIVING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES OF THIS, THE CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE - EVENTUALLY GETTING DOWN TO ABOUT 25 MPH. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR NEVER REGAINED SPEED. AFTER GETTING THE CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK WHILE IN STATIONARY MODE.
RANDOMLY MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. BUT NO AIRBAGS EVER DEPLOYED. ALSO I BELIVEVE MY YEARS TRANSMISSION HAS A RECALL ON IT. EVERY NOW AND AGAIN IT DOWNSHIFTS WHILE I AM ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT TERRIFIES ME. I WOULD APPRECIATE FEELING SAFE IN MY INVESTMENT

NISSAN VIA VERBAL TOLD ME THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE REPLACED CVT IS 15,000 OR 1YEAR. MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2013. AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WAS LOOSING MOTION .WHEN DRIVING AND ACCELERATING THE CAR IT WOULDNT GO UP THE THE SPEEDOMETER SPEED, IT SEEMS LIKE IT WAS STALLING. THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF "PARK" WITHOUT POPPING THE ACCESS COVER ON CONSOLE & PUSHING DOWN ON THE TRANSMISSION RELEASE BUTTON WITH A LONG SCREWDRIVER. STARTING HAPPENING AT APPROX 35K MILES.

THE SHIFT GEAR DOES NOT MOVE TO DRIVE, REVERSE OR ANYWHERE FOR THAT MATTER ONCE ITS IN PARK. SOMEONE HAD TO SHOW ME HOW TO REMOVE THE PLASTIC CAP ON THE SHIFT GEAR LOCK & STICK MY KEY IN THERE TO GET THE SHIFT GEAR TO MOVE. I HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY SINGLE TIME THE VEHICLE IS SET TO PARK & THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
THE 7 INCH CENTRAL AUDIO-VISUAL AND NAVIGATION UNIT PERIODICALLY CHANGES RADIO STATIONS, CRASHES THE NAVIGATION DISPLAY, OR CRASHES ENTIRELY GOING BLANK, AND MAY OR MAY NOT ASK FOR SD CARD UPON REBOOT. ON ONE OCCASION THE ACCELERATOR ALSO STUCK REQUIRING THE CAR TO TAKEN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF. CANNOT BE SURE IF THE TWO EVENTS WERE RELATED BUT THEY HAPPENED SIMULTANEOUSLY. IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS THE MISBEHAVIOR OF THE CENTRAL DISPLAY UNIT HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND WORSE. NISSAN DEALER AND NATIONAL SUPPORT ARE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM OR BEING WILLING TO FIX IT. THERE IS NO ESCALATION PROCEDURE TO FACTORY ENGINEERING AND MAINTENANCE SUPPORT. THEY WILL NOT TAKE THE ELEMENTARY STEP TO REFLASH THE FIRMWARE OR BEING WILLING TO CHANGE OUT THE UNIT. MULTIPLE EXAMPLES OF THIS PROBLEM ARE REPORTED ONLINE IN NISSAN'S OWNER PORTAL FOR THIS MODEL YEAR AND THE NEXT. DESPITE...

THE TRANSMISSION WOULD TAKE ABOUT 10 SECONDS TO ENGAGE AT EVERY LIGHT AND ONCE IT DID IT WOULD LURCH FORWARD. STALLED 3 TIMES. 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH EXACTLY 85,500 MILES. CALLED NISSAN AND THEY SAID THE KNOW OF NO RECALLS OR ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY BUT TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON WITH CODE P0776, AND PENDING CODES OF P 0776 P0965 P2813.
WE HAVE BAD HEADLIGHTS. AT NIGHT WITH LOW BEAMS YOU CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE. YOU ARE FORCED TO USE HIGH BEAMS. DEALER HAS NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN REPLACE FOR 1000K. ON TOP OF THAT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 70K. UNACCEPTABLE. BUT THE LIGHTS ARE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. NISSAN CLAIMS THEY ARE AWARE BUT DO NOTHING

THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,000.

GEAR GETS STUCK TOO OFTEN TO MOVE. CHEAP PARTS AND IS RISKY LIKE ON A PARKING STOP TRYING TO STOP AND YOUR GEAR WONT BUDGE. MY 2013 ALTIMA TRANSMISSION HAS ALWAYS BEEN VIBRATING TOO HEAVILY, BETWEEN 1500-2500 RPM IN COLD AND EXTEREMELY HOT WEATHER SITUATIONS, EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE (SINCE FEB, 2014). NOW THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED AND THEY ARE ASKING 4K TO REPLACE IT.

THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER AND PROMISED TO CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED DUE TO A FAULTY SOLENOID AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. DON WILLIAMS NISSAN (310 WESTERN BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, NC) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 36120298. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
CVT IS JERKING AND THE RECALL DOESN'T EXTEND TO CARS THAT THE PROBLEM MOSTLY EFFECTS.
CAR HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, STOPPING, AND ALSO JERKING. HAS HAD A NEW TRANSMISSION PUT IN BY THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. BUT THE CAR STILL HAS THE SAME ISSUES. I BOUGHT A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA IN 2017. 4 MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE WITH ONLY 65,000 MILES THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILDREN IN IT. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED AND THE NEXT DAY WHILE WORKING THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A PARKING LOT. THE CVT TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. NOW 65,000 MILES LATER THE NEW CVT TRANSMISSION DIED WHILE I HAD A YOUTH CLIENT IN MY CAR FOR WORK. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE FOR A TRANSMISSION TO FAIL AT THE DROP OF A HAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST NISSAN DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THIS IS EFFECTING MY WORK AND IS NOT A RELIABLE CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. ALSO THE AIR COMPRESSOR IS AN ISSUE AS WELL. WHEN I MAKE A STOP AND THEN I LEAVE THE TRANSMISSION FAILS AND THE CAR IS VERY SLOW BUT THE RPM GOES UP VERY HIGH
2013 NISSAN ALTIMA DEFECTIVE CVT. PURCHASED A USED 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 62K MILES ON IT AND QUICKLY REALIZED I HAD BOUGHT A CAR WITH A FAILING TRANSMISSION. IT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COULD FAIL IN A MANNER THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE CURRENT SYMPTOMS ARE POOR ACCELERATION FOLLOWED BY A SURGE IN ACCELERATION, SHUDDERING, ETC. I HAVE HAD THE CVT FLUID CHANGED AND REPROGRAMMED TWICE AND THE ISSUE STILL REMAINS. UNTIL I CAN HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED I RISK THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DE-ACCELERATING ON THE ROAD WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
THE 2ND TIME IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS THAT THE CVT VALVE WENT OUT MAKING THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JERK FORWARD AND BACKWARDS EVEN WITH THE BRAKES ON AND THEN SUDDENLY LOSE POWER. WETHIS IS A HAZARDOUS SITUATION AS MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED YESTERDAY AFTER SUDDENLY STOPPING AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. LAST TIME IT HAPPENED ON A BUSY BRIDGE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2013 ALTIMAS BUT UNFORTUNATELY I'VE JUST BECOME AWARE OF THIS. PEOPLE COULD DIE.
MY CAR WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY FINE IN THE MORNING. CAR STARTED FINE LATER IN THE AFTERNOON. IT STARTED JERKING AND NOT ACCELERATING SMOOTHLY AS I PULLED OUT TO THE STREET. THEN IT STALLED AT THE STREET. RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL UNTIL I PUT IT IN GEAR. AFTER ONLY A FEW FEET IT STALLED AGAIN. IT NOW STALLS IN ANY GEAR BESIDES PARK AND NEUTRAL. HAD TO PUSH THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND HAVE IT TOWED. ANOTHER BAD CVT TRANSMISSION. NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED. SELLING THESE CARS WITH MAJOR MECHANICAL FAILURE AND POOR WARRANTY. HAD TO EXTENDED WARRANTY ON PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS BECAUSE OF FAILURES. SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS IS HAPPENING TO TO MANY PEOPLE. LAST NISSAN I WILL OWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,953.
SHIFT SOLENOID HAS SMALL METAL PLATE THAT BENDS OVER TIME AND LOSES CONTACT THE SHIFTER. THIS MAKES CAR IMPOSSIBLE TO SHIFT FROM PARK WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE SHIFT LOCK USING A SMALL FLAT HEAD SCREWDRIVER. AFTER DISCOVERING FIX, I DISMANTLED THE SHIFTER AND BENT THE SOLENOID PLATE BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION BUT A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE METAL PLATE HAS BENT AGAIN. THIS SMALL METAL PLATE SEEMS QUITE THIN AND FLIMSY. SEARCH THE WEB, LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE OCCUR TO THEIR ALTIMAS.
