AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 35-40 MINUTES MY CAR WON'T ACCELERATE WHEN I HAVE THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND MY SPED STARTS DROPPING EVEN WHEN CRUSE CONTROL IS SET.
MY TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING IT HAS CAUSE I AS WELL AS MY FIANCE TO HAVE TO MISS WORK SOMETIMES BECAUSE OF THE CVT THE CAR SHAKES AND SHUTTERS AND CUTS OFF THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY FIANCE WHERE WE COULD HAVE BEEN HIT AND ENDED UP IN A BAD ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED FOR THE SAME FAILURES AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR 25/30 MINUTES AND STOPPING THE CAR WON'T ACCELERATE WITH THE GAS PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY FOR 10 TO 15 SECONDS. ON 6/20/2019 I STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND THEN STARTED JERKING IN A MANNER THAT SEEMED AS IF THE CAR WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR. AFTER THIS HAPPENED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE READS AS A FAULTY SOLENOID IN THE TRANSMISSION.AFTER TAKING IT TO A NISSAN DEALER I WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS PROBLEM IS SIMILAR TO A RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED IN 2017 WITH THE GAS PEDAL AND TRANSMISSION ACTING MESSED UP. IF I STOP THE CAR AND TURN IT OFF THEN IMMEDIATELY BACK ON THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARS. VEHICLE STOPPED AT STOP LIGHT AND STALLED. RESTARTED VEHICLE AND PUT INTO DRIVE AND STALLED AGAIN. DID THIS 6 TIMES. CONTACTED TOWING SERVICE AND TOWED A BLOCK AWAY TO A SERVICE STATION. THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO GO TO A NISSAN DEALER, THEN HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO MATT CASTRUCCI NISSAN. WHERE THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY LOCATED. THE SERVICE TECH. STATED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE HAS 88,000 MILES AND HAVE READ THAT NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 120,000, BUT THAT MAY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS. WHY NOT? THEY STATED THAT THE VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THAT MAKES NO SENSE, SHOULD INCLUDE ALL 2013 NISSAN REGARDLESS OF VIN#. THE VEHICLE IS REGISTERED UNDER MY WIFE'S NAME. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE VEHICLE BE DIAGNOSED TO DETERMINE IF THE CVT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT VOLUNTEER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.

THE PROBLEM STARTED A FEW MONTHS AGO WITH AN OCCASIONAL SHUDDERING OF THE CAR AND SURGING OF RPMS. THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENED WHEN I ACCELERATED OVER 60 MPH, BUT ALSO HAPPENED SEEMINGLY RANDOMLY WHEN MAINTAINING SPEED. OVER THE LAST 3 WEEKS, THE SHUDDERING BECAME MORE VIOLENT, MORE FREQUENT, AND LESS RELATED TO ACCELERATING, JUST HAPPENING GENERALLY WHEN DRIVING 45+ MPH. ONE WEEK AGO, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A WORK TRIP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR BECAME EXTREMELY LOUD WHEN DRIVING, AND I WAS HAVING TROUBLE ACCELERATING (5/30/2019). THE CODE WAS P0841, TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE SENSOR/SWITCH. AFTER READING ABOUT THE CODE ONLINE, I WAS HOPEFUL THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE MINIMAL, MAYBE JUST DRAINING AND REFILLING TRANNY FLUID OR REPLACING THE SENSOR/SWITCH ON THE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, WITHIN 2 DAYS I REALIZED THE CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP. THE OWNER LOOKED UP...
5 DAYS AGO WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR MY CAR STARTED STUTTERING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AFTER COMING TO A STOP, THE CAR JERKED AND STALLED WHILE IN TRAFFIC. WHEN 5 MILES FROM HOME I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR ENGINE DIED. AFTER RESTARTING MY CAR WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO GEAR THE ENGINE WOULD DIE. WHILE IN THE LEFT LANE I SAT THERE TRYING TO GET MY CAR TO GO INTO GEAR WITHOUT THE ENGINE DYING. TWO GUYS HELPED TO MOVE IT OFF OF THE ROAD AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. IT'S NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE CENTER.

WHILE DRIVING OUR 13 NISSAN ALTIMA SOUTH ON HWY 218/27 SUDDENLY THE CAR WAS STALLING AND LUNGING AND WE LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING IN 4 LANE TRAFFIC ON MAY 13, 2019. WHILE TRYING TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR THERE WAS NOTHING WE COULD NOT ACCELERATE OR ANYTHING. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS WE WERE TRYING TO CROSS ON COMING TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE OR NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. WE COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A COLLISION DUE TO THE LUNGING AND STALLING OF THE TRANSMISSION. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO AUTHORIZED NISSAN DEALER DEERY BROTHERS IN WEST BURLINGTON, IA AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THIS REPLACEMENT WILL COST $4,500. OUR ALTIMA HAS 85,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE HAS NISSANS CVT THAT HAS MALFUNCTIONED IS VARIOUS OTHER NISSAN MODELS. HOPEFULLY THIS SITUATION WILL BE REMEDIED BY A RECALL.
THE VEHICLE HAS AROUND 57,500 MILES, WAS BOUGHT CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN 2016, AND HAS ONLY BEEN SERVICED BY A NISSAN DEALERSHIP SINCE PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE AFTER A STOPLIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT THIS LIGHT AND COULD ONLY ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 12 MPH AFTERWARDS REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL. I TRIED STOPPING AND SHIFTING TO PARK THEN BACK TO DRIVE, YET THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. NO LIGHTS CAME ON AND NO ALERTS POPULATED ON MY DASHBOARD SCREEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE, AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG ALTIMA OWNERS. THIS SEEMS TO RESULT FROM A DEFECTIVE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT), AND THE FAILURE TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. HOPEFULLY, THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN WHEN I AM ON A BUSY ROAD...
MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2013 DIED IN THE PARKING LOT OF A HIGHWAY REST AREA. THE NISSAN MECHANIST LATER REPORTED THE CVT GOT MECHANICAL PROBLEM AND HAS TO BE REPLACED.
TRANSMISSION FAIL. MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA STARTED SHUDDERING AT ACCELERATION FOR FEW DAYS THEN SUDDENLY STARTED TO HESITATE AND GO INTO LIMP MODE. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN PRESSING THE PEDAL OR IN REVERSE. THIS HAS CAUSED A SAFETY HAZARD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ITS POWER TO MOVE AS IF IT'S IN COMA. TWO MECHANIC SHOPS SAID THE CVT TRANSMISSION SYSTEM NEEDS REPLACEMENT. COSTS 3500$. CANNOT AFFORD IT OF COURSE AND THE CAR ITSELF NOW IS NOT WORTH THIS AMOUNT.
I BOUGHT USED 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA CAR LIKE 2 YR 6 MONTHS. RECENT I FACED JERK CONDITION AND SUDDENLY WENT BREAK DOWN. GIVEN NISSAN SHOW ROOM, THEY CONFIRMED ITS TRANSMISSION ISSUE. IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY. NEED TO REPLACE. IT'S COST 5500. STILL HAVE A LOAN OF 8500. IF THERE ANY OPTIONS I CAN GO WITH I'M IN IDLE POSITION. THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY WHEN DRIVING CAUSING IT TO STALL IN UNSAFE AREAS (INTERSECTIONS, INCLINES, FREEWAY ON-RAMPS). I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING GREAT. IT HAS ABOUT 120K MILES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CARS RPM WAS JUMPING WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS DRIVING NORMALLY THEN OUT OF NO WHERE IT HAS LOSS OF ACCELERATION ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH DUE TO PEOPLE BEHIND ME ON THE MAIN ROAD. HAD THE CVT FLUID CHANGED OUT AND THE CAR WAS OKAY FOR 2 DAYS THEN AGAIN IT WOULD NOT GO UP THE HILL. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND NO RECALL OR TSB FOR THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM.
WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK, 99% OF THE TIME I CAN'T PUT THE GEAR SHIFT IN DRIVE. IF I WANT TO MOVE, I HAVE TO USE THE KEY DOWN IN THE GEAR LOCK BOX TO UNLOCK THE GEAR.
CALL STALLS AND JERKS WHEN COMING TO A STOP, AND ENGINE THEN CUTS OUT AND DIES. CAR THEN HAS TROUBLE RE-STARTING AND LOSES POWER. APPEARS TO BE A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. CAR IS A 2013 AND ONLY AT AROUND 60K MILES. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE CVT TRANSMISSION OF THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA - A VERY WELL-DOCUMENTED PROBLEM.

NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER KEN GANLEY MEDINA OHIO, THE CAR SHOWED EVEN MORE SYMPTOMS AND TOTALLY STALLED RIGHT IN FRONT OF SERVICE DOOR AND WOULDN'T START. SIMILAR PROBLEM HAPPENED IN JANUARY 2016 AT 59900 AND THEN THE SAME DEALERSHIP SERVICE RESET TRANSMISSION MODULE. THE CAR WAS DRIVING NORMAL UNTIL NOW. ONLY THIS TIME I PAID $177 FOR DIAGNOSTICS JUST TO HEAR WHAT I ALREADY SUSPECTED: INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE. COST OF REPLACEMENT $3995 PLUS TAX. ON THE WAY HOME, MY CAR COMPLETELY DIED AND HAD TO BE TOWED HOME. MY CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH TRANSMISDION ISSUES YESTERDAY AT MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP. I HAD NO WARNIING FOR MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. IT APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THIS TRANSMISSION MODEL. I HAVE REVIEWED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON LINE ABOUT THIS 2013 NISSAN TRANSMISSION ISSUE. MY CAR STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS BLESSED KNOW ONE HIT ME. NOW I HAVE TO PUT OUT MONEY FOR A TRANSMISSION. I AM ON A FIX INCOME. NISSAN SHOULD LOOK AT THESE COMPLAINTS AND RECALL ISSUES WITH THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA TRANSMISSION AND ASSIST IN REIMBURSING THOSE THAT HAD TO REPLACE THIS DETECTIVE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS SERIOUS AND CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF YOUR CAR STALLS ON A HIGHWAY.. I AM A LOYAL CUSTOMER AND HAVE KEPT MY CAR MAINTAINED.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHEN I LOST POWER I THEN PULLED OVER AND PARKED WHEN I PUT THE GEAR IN DRIVE IT WAS NO POWER I KEPT TAKING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEAL AND THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM ALL THEY WANT IS THE MONEY FOR THE CAR NOTE SO ON 3/1/19 I TOOK MY CAR TO AAMCO TO RUN A TEST ON IT THIS IS THE 6 PLACE THAT TOLD MY MY TRANSMISSION IS BAD
TWO HOURS FROM HOME CAR SHUT OFF ON HIGHWAY, AFTER IT START SHAKING DURING SHIFTS. AFTER TOW TO SERVICE STATION, THEN TO DEALERSHIP, AND HOME IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE BAD TRANSMISSION WITH 60,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WOULD JOLT FORWARD, TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING, AND THE VEHICLE POWERED DOWN AT WILL. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION CAUSES ENGINE TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND AT IDLE (WHILE WAITING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT). ALSO CAUSES VIOLENT SHAKING WHEN ACCELERATING. NISSAN HAS A "RECALL" TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION MODULE STATING THAT IT IT IS NOT DONE TRANSMISSION DAMAGE WILL HAPPEN. HOWEVER WAS NEVER NOTIFIED AND IT SEEMS TO APPEAR THIS NOTICE CAME OUT ONLY IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. MEANING NISSAN KNOWS THE TRANSMISSION IS BEING DAMAGED. BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD MENIT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION ($4400). CALLED NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA WHERE THEY DECIDED TO DENY ANY CLAIM TO REPLACE THE TRANMISSION... EVEN THOUGH AS I PREVIOUSLY STATED THEY KNEW THIS ISSUE WAS CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. HAVE TRIED TO REACH BACK OUT TO NISSAN AND HAD TO LEAVE A MESSAGE ASKING MY "REP" TO CALL ME BACK THE NEXT DAY.... WHICH SHE NEVER DID OF COURSE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR JUST DIED ALL OF A SUDDEN. I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND GOOD THING AND NOT ON HIGHWAY. I STARTED IT AGAIN, ONLY TO DIE AGAIN AFTER PUTTING INTO DRIVE. THERE WAS JERKY, SHUDDERED AND HESITATION. IT DIED THREE TIMES BEFORE I COULD PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS OK FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND NOW IT HAPPENS DAILY. WHILE ACCELERATING OR COMING TO A STOP, IT SHAKES, JERKS, SHUDDERS, VIBRATES. VERY SPOOKY. I AM AFRAID OF IT DYING ON ME ON THE HIGHWAY. NOT SAFE AT ALL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT IS THE CVT CONTROL VALVE BODY WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS VERY COMMON WITH 2013 & 2014 ALTIMAS. REPAIR COST WILL BE $1,700. I ONLY HAVE 49,000 MILES ON IT. BUT BECAUSE I OWNED IT FOR MORE THAN FIVE YEARS, I AM TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED ON...
AS I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A HIGHWAY, AND ESPECIALLY AT STOP LIGHTS, THE TACHOMETER WOULD DROP TO 0 RPM AND I WOULD HAVE TO TRY TO GET THE VEHICLE GOING AGAIN BY RESTARTING THE ENGINE, SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES. AFTER GETTING HOME, THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO MOVE EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WOULD START. THE VEHICLE WAS 3000 MILES OVER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY LIMIT OF 60,000 MILES, SO I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL AAMCO TRANSMISSION SHOP. THE AAMCO SHOP FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY FAILED AND DETERMINED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH COST ROUGHLY $4000.
SHIFT HANDLE DOES NOT MOVE OUT OF PARKING UNLESS YOU PUSH DOWN ON THE SHIFT RELEASE BUTTON WITH A HARD STRAIGHT OBJECT LIKE A PEN OR ALLEN WRENCH.
TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 65K MILEAGE
IN 2018 INITIALLY IT STARTED WHEN WE WERE DRIVING IT DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR STREET AND IT SEEM TO LOSE POWER AND WE WOULD PRESS ON THE GAS AND IT WOULD SPUTTER. THERE WERE TIMES WHEN WE'RE AT THE STOPLIGHT AND PRESS ON THE GAS AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS HAPPENED FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS UNTIL IT WOULDN'T MOVE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, SO TOWED HOME THEN TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF A RECALL ON A TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE ONLY TO FIND OUT FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THEY COULD NOT UPDATE THE CONTROL MODULE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND SAID WE NEEDED A CVT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY TRANSMISSION. WE BOUGHT IT USED IN 2016 AND NOW IT ONLY HAS 74,000 MILES ON IT. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM OUT OF IT UNTIL LAST YEAR 2018. NOW WHEN WE PUT IT...
AT 55,000 MILES THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN IT STALLED. WAS ABLE TO RESTART, BUT EVERY TIME IT WAS PUT INTO DRIVE, IT STALLED AGAIN. ENTIRE TRANSMISSION REQUIRED REPLACEMENT.
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET, VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUDDER AND JERK EVENTUALLY DYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE TRAVELING WITH A TODDLER AND WIFE IN THE CAR. WAS LUCKY WE WERE NOT HIT BY CARS BEHIND US AND WE MANAGED TO RESTART THE CAR AND STEER AWAY. NISSAN DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE FOR CLAIMING WARRANTY. MY CAR HAS 48.450 MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASED NEW IN NOV 2012. DEALERSHIP RETURNED THE CAR ASKING ME TO COME BACK WHEN PROBLEM BECOMES MORE FREQUENT. I AM FORCED TO DRIVE A CAR WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND RISKING MYSELF TO AN ACCIDENT.
WHEN COMING TO A RED LIGHT ON A ONE LANE HIGHWAY WITH A LIGHT. LIGHT TURNED RED, WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE CAR BEGAN SHAKING. I WAS BEHIND ANOTHER CAR AND WAS AFRAID BECAUSE THE CAR WAS SHUTTERING, JERKIN, SHAKING SO MUCH I DID NOT FEEL LIKE I HAD CONTROL OF THE CAR. ONCE I STOPPED, THE CAR ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, BUT I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE MY CAR. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR, IT WOULD RUN IN PARK, BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE, IT WOULD STALL OUT. I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I COULD MOVE BY CAR BY SLIGHT INCHES EVERY TIME I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND WOULD STALL OUT. JUST ENOUGH TO MOVE THE MAJOR OF MY CAR OUT OF THE INTERSECTION. EVENTUALLY, THE BATTERY DIED AND I WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THIS...
TRANSMISSION FAILED, CAR BEING TO JERK AND JERK THEN RIDE OUT SMOOTHLY THIS HAPPENED OVER A PERIOD OF TIME,(5-6 MONTHS) THEN FINALLY IT GOT SO BAD THAT YOU COULD BARELY DRIVE THE CAR. NOW THE CARE WILL NOT DRIVE IT STALLS AND BARELY MOVE WHEN PUT IN GEAR, TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED.
THE VEHICLE WILL STUTTER AND SOMETIMES STALL WHEN STOPPED AND IN DRIVE. IT IS ALSO OFTEN SLUGGISH WHEN ACCELERATING. I HAVE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE A NUMBER OF TIMES, THE MOST RECENT INDICATING IT IS LIKELY A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THE CVT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE ISSUE STARTED IN SPRING, 2017, BUT HAS GOTTEN WORSE RECENTLY. I HAVE NOTICED THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ASSOCIATED WITH THIS CONDITION (NTB 15-086G).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE THE ENGINE WAS IDLING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO QUIRK NISSAN(600 SOUTHERN ARTERY, QUINCY, MA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 18 MONTHS AND 6,000 MILES LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON CITY BUSY STREET AT 35 MPH DOWNHILL, THE CAR SHUDDER AND STOPPED. IT LOST POWER TO ALL OF ITS ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL COMPONENT. IT WAS A BUSY OFFICE HOUR AND SO VERY DANGEROUS, I SOMEHOW MANAGED TO STEER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP IT. TRYING TO START THE CAR AGAIN, ENGINE WILL TURN ON IN PARKING OR NEUTRAL BUT AS SOON AS SWITCHED TO DRIVE OR REVERSE, IT WILL SHUDDER AND STALL. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND IT IS A CAUSE OF FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER. THE TORQUE CONVERTER GAVE AWAY WITHOUT ANY SIGN OR WARNINGS. THE CAR DROVE FINE UNTIL THE SECOND BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. IT COULD HAVE HAPPENED AT AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WITH HIGH SPEEDS AND CAUSED AN UNAVOIDABLE MISHAP. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED IN FOR THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE'S SAFETY THAT DRIVE NISSAN.
