Several messages display simultaneously on and off as the vehicle is in motion which results in power being lost, then restored in a matter of minutes which are critical when traveling in traffic or on the interstate. Steering and brakes are the first to go, but the car remains operational. The gauges display as if the car is stationary with check engine, brake, start stop disabled, traction control and many other lights displaying in error as these things are happening.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while his son was driving approximately 30 MPH and slowing down for a traffic signal, the vehicle lunged forward, stalled, and then came to an abrupt stop. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated and the windshield wipers engaged independently. The contact's son was able to restart the vehicle and drove back to the residence. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.
When driving or starting up the dashboard & radio will be pitch black not showing anything. Now when I started it up the other day I went to stop at a light and the Auto Shut Off warning light popped on and just stopped working. It will frequently reboot itself by radio standards and shut down the entire jeep system.
Multiple times the check engine light, air bag lights, powertrain light have went off. I took it to the dealership, they said nothing was wrong and reset the lights. The last time this happened, all power went out on my Jeep Wrangler. I pulled it to the side. Sat for a while and drove 20 home. I called the Jeep dealership and they inspected my car. 160 warnings were on the electric scan. The mechanic called Chrysler--they charged me almost a 1,000 to fix something in the steering column. I have no warranty as it has been over 3 years. I took my car back and the dealership mechanic said he wasn't sure if he fixed it and I should call Chrysler. We did. My case # is 82498233. They said they couldn't do anything about it. Since then, my car keeps losing power while I am driving. I pull...
The frame bracket for the engine mount has a vertical slot instead of the traditional round hole. This allows the engine to climb out of the mount in case the cross bolt gets loosened even slightly. I discovered this flaw when my engine started twisting and the output yoke on the rear driveshaft was rubbing against the fuel tank. Untreated it could have ruptured the gas tank. The enclosed photo shows the main engine mount bolt having pulled out of the mount and sitting above it. Essentially at this point the engine is not connected to the frame.
1. Engine 2. Yes. I was on a major highway when the Jeep wouldn't go above 10 miles per hour and almost causing me to get rear ended. 3. I had it at the dealer at least 4 times, they can't find the problem. They replaced ABS controller, still they can't find the problem. 4. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer, not even sure how it passed state inspection. 5. Every warning light came up on the dashboard. The problem started in November 2021. The last incident happened on the night of 2/19, this time the vehicle would go pass first gear...I was driving 10mph.
My Jeep Stalled on me in the middle of the street at Night. All of the lights dimmed out including my Emergency lights, I couldn’t put into Neutral or turn it on I had to get it towed Home. Both batteries replaced it turns on but stalls. Could be the alternator?
I was in my car at a gas station and the car had shut down with ABS light, check engine light. The car would not start up with push to start. The shifter also was locked into place when the car eventually ended up starting. 5 mins later the car finally started up and all the of the warning lights/messages went away. I received an oil change + inspection from a dealership and nothing was found. This same problem happened again in a parking lot, (ABS, check engine, car not turning on) and I took my car to the dealership for service. They performed an inspection and I was told the ABS module needed to be replaced. WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY WIFE AND FIVE YR OLD SON WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD POP UNDERNEATH OUR 2018 JEEP WRANGLER AND INSTANTLY SAW A TRAIL OF SMOKE BEHIND US. WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO FIND TRANSMISSION GUILD GUSHING FROM UNDERNEATH WITH TONS OF SMOKE AS WELL. WE WERE HOPING THE SMOKE WAS PROBABLY JUST FROM FLUID ON THE MANIFOLD BUT WE SMALL FLASHES OF FIRE STARTING AT THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH AREA. I QUICKLY GRABBED MY SON SITTING IN BACK AND WE JUMPED OVER THE CONCRETE BARRIER ON THE SIDE AND RAN AWAY FROM THE JEEP AS IT QUICKLY BECAME ENGULFED. IT STILL HAD THE TEMP TAGS HAVING ONLY HAD IT THREE WEEKS. IT WAS A 2018 WITH 15K MILES.
WHILE DRIVING, THE AUTO START/STOP FUNCTION WILL DISABLE AND A MESSAGE ON THE DASH POPS UP THAT SAYS 'STOP/START UNAVAILABLE. SERVICE START/STOP' AND A YELLOW A WITH AN ARROW AROUND IT WILL LIGHT UP ON THE DASH. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY BUT HAPPENS EVERY DAY. WHILE AT A RED LIGHT, MY JEEP SHUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS STILL IN DRIVE. THE SERVICE MESSAGE AS PREVIOUSLY STATED APPEARED, ALONG WITH THE YELLOW A AND ARROW. I HAD TO PUT MY JEEP INTO PARK AND RESTART MY ENGINE. THE SYSTEM MESSAGE AND A CONTINUED TO DISPLAY. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY ONE TIME, HOW EVER THAT STILL IS A SAFETY RISK FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR ROUGHLY TWO WEEKS TRYING TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP AND SAW AN ARC FLASH AND PULLED TO THE SIDE EMERGENCY LANE. I THEN SAW FLAMES DRIPPING FROM MY JEEP AND THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE JEEP WENT UP IN FLAMES AND CAUGHT FIRE.
BEGAN SMELLING COOLANT (SWEET SMELL), ALTHOUGH COULD NOT FIND LEAK. AT 15,600 MILES (MAY 2020), VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO JEEP DLR FOR SERVICE. FOUND SMALL CRACKS IN THE PLASTIC PORTION OF THE RADIATOR. NOW, AT 18,600, THE SWEET SMELL IS BACK. WILL NEED TO TAKE IT BACK IN TO JEEP DLR AGAIN.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECTLY DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERIES WERE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THE DEALER AT A COST OF $800 FOR BOTH BATTERIES OR COULD BE PURCHASED AT THE LOCAL PARTS...
WHILE BRAKING THE JEEP, THE BRAKING SYSTEM DIDN'T OVERRIDE THE ENGINE. JEEP KEPT GOING IN DRIVE INSTEAD OF STOPPING. I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO GET THE JEEP STOPPED. I ALMOST WENT INTO A BUSY HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF TRUCK GOING 60MPH. COULD HAVE BEEN HURT OR KILLED. *TR

RADIATOR LEAK (FAILURE). JEEP DEALER CONFIRMED AND REPAIR IS IN PROCESS.
AUDIBLE TICKING COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT
FAILURE TO START, RANDOMLY WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. VISIBLE PERTAINING COMPONENT PARTS SUCH AS BATTERY, IGNITION SWITCH, STARTER AND VOLTAGE ALL IN GOOD ORDER. AFTER 30 MINUTE WAITING PERIOD CAR WILL START. STEERING WHEEL MOVEMENT WHEN EXITING VEHICLE APPEARS TO TRIGGER PROBLEM, QUITE OFTEN. HAS OCCURRED 8 TIMES IN 4 MONTHS. DEALER SHOWED NO ERROR CODES.
WHEN THE IN MOTION THE MOTOR HAS A STRONG NOISE LIKE THE PISTON WHERE BROKEN, I HAVE TAKE TO SERVICES DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NORMAL, THEN SECOND TIME THE HAD TO CLEAN THE PISTON THAT I PAID FOR $390.00. THE NOISE CONTINUED YOU FEEL LIKE THE MOTOR IS GOING TO EXPLODED. I WILL TAKE IT BACK FOR THE FOURTH TIME. I WORRY FOR MY SAFETY. THIS IS A NEW CAR THAT I BOUGHT I O MILEAGE. I WILL LIKE MY MONEY BACK IF THE NO SOLUTION.
WHEN TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 50-70 MPH AND HITTING A BUMP, THE FRONT OF THE JEEP BEGINS TO SHAKE OR WOBBLE VERY HARD BACK AND FORTH. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO HIT THE BRAKES QUICKLY AND HARD, MAKING DRIVING VERY UNSAFE - ESPECIALLY INCREASING THE DANGER OF GETTING REAR ENDED. MY FIVE WEEK OLD MANUAL JEEP WRANGLER JL WITH APPROXIMATELY 1500 MILES ON IT WAS IN MOTION TRAVELLING WESTBOUND ON A 55 MPH ROAD WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE JEEP HAD BEEN IN MOTION FOR APPROXIMATELY 1/4 OF A MILE WHEN IT WAS SHIFTED INTO THIRD GEAR AND PART OF THE TRANSMISSION FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN SHIFTED INTO 4TH GEAR, AGAIN MORE PARTS FELL FROM BENEATH THE JEEP. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE GEAR CHANGE THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH ALL LIT UP AND BLACK SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE SEEN SIMULTANEOUSLY ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE JEEP WAS IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE 911 WAS CALLED. THE FIREFIGHTERS FOUND PIECES OF THE TRANSMISSION HUNDREDS OF YARDS FROM WHERE THE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES.

2018 JEEP JL (ALL WHITE) HAS PAINT TURNING YELLOW FROM EXCESS HEAT IN THE ENGINE AREA. JEEP HAS LESS THAN 300 MILES ON IT. AREAS AFFECTED INCLUDE FRONT GRILL, RIGHT FRONT FENDER. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, I ENCOUNTERED SEVERE TIGHTNESS FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. DISABLING ME TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT, TYPICALLY ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE ACCELERATING. IF I WAS TO TURN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL FOR A SLIGHT CURVE OR TURN THE VEHICLE WOULD REMAIN STRAIGHT MAKING THE VEHICLE IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE THE APPROPRIATE ADJUSTMENT. VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO SAFETY FOR A RESET ( TURNING OFF THE ENGINE FOR 5 MINS BEFORE RESTARTING). UPON ACCELERATING THE TIGHTNESS OF THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN, EVENTUALLY CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL.
VEHICLE DRIVEN FO APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES WITH NO APPARENT ISSUES. AVERAGE SPEED ABOUT 40 TO 50 MPH. DRIVER SMELLED A CONCERNING ODOR, PULLED INTO A PARKING, GOT OUT OF VEHICLE AND NOTICED A FLAME. SHE CALLED 911AND VEHICLE BECAME FULLY ENGULFED. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH JEEP.
ELECTRICAL ISSUES INCL BUT NOT LIMITED TO: GAUGE READOUTS INCORRECT, ECM NOT ALLOWING PROPER SHIFTS. ENGINE PROBLEMS WITH THE VALVE LIFTERS MAKING NOISE AND BROKEN.
VEHICLE STALLED IN HIGHWAY, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FOR NO REASON AND WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO RESTART. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE RADIO AND BACKUP CAMERA WENT OUT AND CAME BACK AN HOUR OR SO LATER. THE RADIO, WHICH CONTROLS ALL ELECTRONICS AND BACKUP CAMERA, WENT OUT AGAIN. DEALER REPLACED SOME SORT OF INTERFACE FOR THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM (RADIO) ON 07/30/18. THEN VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN IN HIGHWAY, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON 08/03/2018 AND WAS DIFFICULT TO RESTART. THEN, ON 08/09/2018, A BATTERY CHARGE WARNING CAME ON AND THEY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. WHAT IS EVEN MORE TROUBLING, IS THESE VERY PROBLEMS ARE ALL OVER THE INTERNET. CONSTANT STALLING A ANY SPEEDS DEALERS CANNOT FIX PROBLEM
WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE FOR THE THIRD TIME IN TWO DAYS AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR FOLLOWING A PCM FLASH FOR A CRUISE CONTROL RECALL, I NOTICED THE PRND LIGHTS FLASHING ON THE SHIFTIER APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS AFTER VEHICLE START. I SUBSEQUENTLY RECEIVED A CEL AND A "SERVICE SHIFTER' MESSAGE. I SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, LET ALL DISPLAYS GO DARK, AND RESTARTED; THE CEL WENT AWAY. I PROCEEDED TO CONTINUE MY DRIVE HOME. ABOUT 10/15 MIN LATER, I NOTICED THE LIGHTS FLICKERING ONCE AGAIN ON THE SHIFTER. I ONCE AGAIN ELECTED TO CONTINUE HOME AS IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION: BOUGHT A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON ON 14 MAY 2018. ON 15 MAY 2018, I BROUGHT IT TO THE CAR WASH. AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE CAR WASH ONTO TO ADJACENT ROAD, VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT ANY INTERACTION FROM MYSELF. I PRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO REV THE ENGINE AS I RELEASED THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. AS I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY I NOTICED THAT FLAMES WERE COMING OUT OF THE JEEP. I MERGED TWO LANES OVER TO TRY TO TURN ON A SIDE STREET AND LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I PUT THE JEEP IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF, AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. WE RAN UP A NEAR BY HILL, TURNED AROUND AND THE ENTIRE JEEP WAS ENGULFED WITH FLAMES. IT BURNED FOR AN HOUR.
