The Anti-lock braking system and the electronic traction control system are both failing. There were previous recalls on both systems that say they have been repaired, but the lights for both are constantly on. The brakes do not work fully, and it has caused me to slide down the street from my workplace. The electronic traction control system not working has caused it so that my four-wheel drive does not work, and I have gotten stuck in the snow multiple times. The car has been inspected by a repair technician. The warning lights came on right as the problem was happening.
Vechicle returns to limp mode. Almost causing several accidents on interstate. Engine 3.6. variable valve timing enough jeep at one time offered a longer warranty. Replaced cams, heads, phasers, oil pump, computer, timing chain, timing gears, over 9000.00 parts and labor. Mopar parts very problematic with the varible timing valve train.after problems in timing was fixed, there now is a oil pressure problem. Master mechanic credentials worked on vechicle several time and hour to try to fix problems. Mechanic now say only way to make vechicle safe at this point is to put a new engine in.this will cost over 13000 dollars over the 9000.00. I have already spent. Scariest part of this vechicle is when on a 70mph interstate and vechicle goes to a top speed of 40mph.
1. The battery is consistently being drained from an unknown issue, mechanic unsure. In two years it has need 3 batteries. This causes start issues, window closing issues, and the radio screen console issues. 2. The transmission gets stuck in third now needing a new transmission. Was told only a new transmission will fix issue.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low power voltage and several unknown warning lights illuminated and went off. In addition, the red battery warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the nearest parking lot and the vehicle was turned off. The contact stated that a nearby driver attempted to jumpstart the vehicle. The contact stated that while the nearby driver attempted to jumpstart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to start. In addition, the contact inspected the vehicle and stated that the alternator appeared to be completely inoperable. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact purchased a new alternator and installed the new alternator. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle started. The contact stated that immediately after the replacement of the alternator, the new alternator started to...
Subject: Safety Defect Report – Failure of Telematics Module (TCU) Causing Loss of 9-1-1 Emergency Function, Electrical System Malfunctions, and Potential Brake Booster Recall Defect (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee) Dear NHTSA, I am submitting this complaint because my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is experiencing multiple safety-related failures that I believe are part of a wider defect pattern affecting this model year. Several of these issues involve systems that are critical for emergency safety, braking, and vehicle control. Dear NHTSA, I am submitting this complaint because my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is experiencing multiple safety-related failures that I believe are part of a wider defect pattern affecting this model year. Dash display went white and could not see speedometer
My TCM (Transmission Control Module). Yes. While driving my jeep kept shifting into Nuetral all by itself and I would have to shift back into Drive. This is going into my jeep dealer on 8-5 and put on the diagnostic test. It was only checked out by plugging in the meter and this is the code that came back. Has not been inspected by police, insurance, Jeep dealer as of yet until 8-5-25. Yes it went from shifting g into Nuetral by itself to Slow g down on its own and it happened most recently on a major interstate with an 18 wheeler behind me and almost rear ended me. As I gave it gas it wouldn’t go I rolled to side of road. This was the 5th time this happened to me. It all started back in beginning of July. The check engine light came on.
The engine and powertrain are affected by a defect described in Safety Recall 66A / NHTSA 23V-411 (loss of crankshaft position). Despite the recall software update being performed, my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to display Diagnostic Trouble Code P0336 (Crankshaft Position Sensor Performance). This issue causes intermittent stalling, hard starts, and loss of engine power, which creates a serious risk of crash if the vehicle stalls while driving. The safety defect described in the recall — tone wheel magnetic material delamination leading to crankshaft signal loss — is still present. Two diagnostic reports (one from an FCA-authorized dealership and one from an independent mechanic) confirm the presence of DTC P0336. The Service Manager at the dealership agreed this is likely recall-related but said FCA corporate must authorize hardware repair. FCA (Case #93427994) has refused to approve full repair, leaving the safety defect unresolved. The defect has been confirmed by...
Trunk lift gate opens on its own and continually opens and closes; removing the battery does not stop the automatic open/close and it will continue to do so for some time. It does it randomly, but more so after the car has gotten wet from a wash or rain. While sitting stationary the trunk opened on its own while locked and alarmed.
Vehicle will shut off while driving losing brakes and power steering. No lights on dash just says shift to park to start. Very dangerous
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the tailgate was closed independently. The tailgate had crashed down and struck the contact on the head. The contact was not injured. The contact had to hold the tailgate ajar. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was like NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V338000 (Electrical System, Structure). The local dealer was called, and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that there were no open recalls on the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
While on highway, wipers, lights and horn began on their own. Then car shifted to neutral and brakes failed. I was going 70 miles per hour. I was able to get off the highway and have the car inspected by a licensed mechanic. It is the electrical computer or TIPM. The car is unable to start. This issue is a very dangerous safety issue.
The contact's wife owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while in stop-and-go traffic, several warning lights began to flash on the instrument panel and the vehicle started to lose power. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the starter was replaced. The contact stated that several months later, the contact stated that the "Service Shifter" warning light flashed on the instrument panel with the gear shifter lights flashing. The contact stated that the vehicle independently shifted into neutral(N) while driving at 40 MPH. The contact drove the vehicle back to the independent mechanic where the mechanic test drove the vehicle. The mechanic informed the contact that he had experienced the failure while driving over a bump in the roadway and several warning lights flashed on the instrument panel. The contact was informed that the failure might be related to the...
1) The valve body-electrical 2) my car stopped in the middle of the road the while driving with my kids. When I placed car in park it would not go back in drive, but the dash kept blinking that the car was in drive. The issue prevented me from turning the car off so i had to unplug the battery to ensure the battery wouldnt die. 3)The problem has been confirmed by a dealer 4) Vehicle hasnt been inspected by police or insurance rep 5)no warnings or symptoms prior to the problem.
The vehicle has been making this electrical noise inside the vehicle. The vehicle upon accelerating, would hesitate to go then jerk. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic technician. It was suggested that the vehicle TCM be replaced. It was replaced and the jerking still exist. The vehicle out of nowhere started having these unexpected electrical issues. This caused the cooling system fan to not work. I ordered a new cooling system fan and had it replaced/installed. However, these issues along with other safety concerning issues have continued to occur. This vehicle can cause significant serious injury or injuries to the owner or others. The vehicle would lock up occasionally. This model jeep (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7L) has some safety concerns. This need to be fixed immediately before it cause catastrophic damages/injuries to others.
My instrument cluster (where the speed, gas level, engine temperature, etc. Is displayed) had completely blacked out. It was periodically coming on. But it's not coming on at all anymore. I've taken it to the dealership, had it replaced (with a used part), had the wiring checked, also tried reprogramming the instrument cluster. Nothing has worked. There was a recall for this same exact problem, with the same exact vehicle except my vehicle was manufactured 3 months after the recall notice called for vehicle manufactured through Aug 2013 my was November 2013. I feel that my vehicle also should've been part of that recall notice.
The contact owned a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while her son was driving 65 MPH, there was smoke coming from underneath the hood. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact's son and the other passengers exited the vehicle and walked 20 feet away. The contact stated that the entire vehicle caught on fire. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. The contact stated that the vehicle was severely burned from the front end to the rear seats. There were no injuries sustained. The contact was unsure whether a fire department report and a police report were filed. The vehicle was towed and totaled. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stop light, the gear shifter unexpectedly shifted from drive(D) to neutral(N); the vehicle stalled and failed to return to normal operation. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was drivable and was driven to the residence. The vehicle was later towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was made aware of an Electronic Computer Module Unit failure and stated that the module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V447000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I was driving home from dinner and while driving I got a notification on the dashboard and then few moments later it locked up and everything started turning off. Incuding the radio, AC but not the car. The car would not drive once I got it on the side of the road. The car would not turn off due to not being able to place car in park. It was stuck in drive. My husband had to come over and put his foot on brake and take over the wheel. He then hit the power button for 5 seconds and it went into park and turned off. We called a tow company to take it to dealership to get fixed. We seen we had some recalls so we asked if that was the issue they said yes and ordered parts to fix. Days and weeks went on got car back...
Fuel pump failed. Electric control module/system failed. I have been having these problems since 2021. When it first started my car stalled out, completely died, and started rolling (even though I was pressing the brakes) - I had to pull my E brake and luckily stopped an inch away from hitting the car in front of me coming to a stop because the light turned red. My entire car shut down. I had to get a tow. I took it in to a shop and they had no idea really what happened or what it was. They told me a bunch of stuff was bad (thousands and thousands of dollars worth of stuff) and I ended up only getting whatever was absolutely necessary which was the fuel pump and battery. $1300 later it was driving at least. Ever since then my gas gauge has NEVER been accurate and just goes...
7/2020 lifters and cam failure @65k miles. 4+ weeks dealership did repairs. They never disclosed the major engine repair or gave me any paperwork while I waited to pick up this jeep after I purchased it. 8/2020 lifters and cam repaired. 19 miles & 1 day spun crankshaft bearings & damaged cylinder walls. 1.5 weeks for dealership to get a new Mopar 6.4 Hemi long block vvt mds engine. 8/2020 new Mopar long block 6.4 hemi installed at dealership. paid $2k since I didn't know about the dealerships concealed major repairs. 8 dealership and 3 penzoil. All (0w40 penzoil ultra-platinum) Dealership maintained & repaired pads/rotors..Waterpump..headlight bulbs and some other minor things. 10/2023 38k miles later the new engine had lifter and camshaft failure. Dealership said the 60/100k warranty I paid for with the previous mopar long block engine purchase was not activated ànd they had no record of it other...
I am driving on the highway and my vehicle goes into neutral on its own it’s very dangerous and almost caused an accident from what I was reading there was a recall for the software for the transmission this happened quite a few times and needs fixing
My youngest son was away at college, using the vehicle to go to and from class. He was driving the Jeep home for summer break when suddenly, the wipers turned on and the dashboard warning lights lit up the dash like a Christmas tree. He did not know what to do, who would? Then the dashboard went completely black. He tried turning off the wipers and then suddenly the car shifted into park in the middle of traffic all on its own, with cars on both sides. He was fortunate that he was not rear-ended and severely injured. My son is a cautious driver, as he fears any accident that could end his athletic career. He pulled over and turned the jeep off and then on and things looked normal. No more flashing dash warning lights, so he continued down the road, hazard lights on, paying close attention to vehicles...
Our car was stopped and then engine started intermittently lunging forward for no reason. Rear ended the car in front of us and had to use the emergency brake to stop the car. Jeep Corp sent an independent inspector to check the car but only shared the car was drivable and didn't say there was a problem. They wouldn't share the computer findings with us or the dealer, only that is was drivable. They also wouldn't allow the dealer to see the computer while it was being tested. The car is currently parked and we bought another car. Waiting for Jeep to cover replacing parts or do something to the Jeep before it has another accident.
While using cruise control and traveling at a speed of approximately 70 miles per hour on the highway, my car accelerated on its own and ai had I had to hit the brakes. I was thankfully able to slow it down, to which the entire car shuts down. The vehicle completely shut off and would not start. I had to have it towed to Jeep and they told me it was not one, but BOTH fuel pumps had failed. They charged me over $1700.00. There is currently a recall for this very issue and Jeep made no attempt to fix it. I had no idea there was even a recall for this until now and this happened a few years ago.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate upon the depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact also stated that the vehicle stalled with an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle had been taken to a dealer and an independent mechanic where several repairs were performed; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V634000 (Electrical System) which she linked to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
The vehicle was running but in park. I was putting air in my tires and heard something. I looked towards the passenger front and seen smoke coming from up front. The air ride pump caught on fire and melted wires, hoses, and the inner fender cover. I was able to put it out quickly.
Car shut down and engine stalled while driving. I coasted to a stop in the middle of traffic. Car would not restart. Had to get towed home. There are two open recalls on this vehicle- one for fuel pump and one for tone wheel. The dealers say they can’t fix it because no parts are available. This is unacceptable. One recall has been issued over a year ago. This is my primary vehicle. I have already had to borrow a family members vehicle for weeks now. I cannot wait months hoping for parts to become available. I need recall work to be performed now or at least a temporary fix to get me back on the road.
My JGC 2014. I was on a 5 lane interstate in the far left lane when my car started decelerating at a speed of 64mph. As I was merging into the left emergency lane it switched into neutral gear. I then proceeded to stop and put the Jeep into park and turn it off. Prior to this incident my check engine light had just illuminated a month prior and I ran a diagnostic computer test and it returned stating it was an EVAP problem. I haven’t had any systems. So I was waiting on my first check to get it taking care of (meaning no gas smell in the cabin, no fuel leaks under vehicle, no bad gas mileage). So the police came to my rescue and helped me pull the emergency neutral pull in the middle console in order to get it off closer to the median so I...
While driven the vehicle, the head of the driver front seat opened and broke where you can see the broken plastic support in the interior. After a month the head of the seat of the passenger were broke in the same way. They were open and broke and expose the interior of the head seat noticed the plastic pin support broken.,06
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral and lost motive power. The contact received Police assistance when the vehicle failed to immediately restart. The contact was then able to pull the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway. The transmission and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure due to a lack of power. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control) for which the VIN was included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 176,000.
The left bank intake camshaft and roller rockers have failed. It has cause the check engine light to come on and go off reading a misfire in cylinder 2. After costly repairs to coil packs and plugs, Chrysler is now going to replace with a cost of $1,900.00. This is the same issue in the 2013 Jeep that Chrysler extended the warranty on and won’t do it now on this year model.
Started the car and heard a high pitched whining coming from engine compartment. Reversed the vehicle about 20-25 feet and smelled burning rubber and then smoke started coming from the engine compartment. Turned off the vehicle and opened the hood, and saw that smoke was coming from the alternator. The alternator continued to smoke for approximately 15-20 minutes. We had the vehicle towed to a mechanic as it was completely inoperable at this point, and we had to have the alternator and battery replaced, as well as a wiring harness. The replaced alternator was shown to us by the mechanic and it was black and melted in spots. This seems related to NHTSA Safety Recall T36/NHTSA 17V-435, but NHTSA site is showing no open recalls for the vehicle and Chrysler insists the vehicle is not under any recalls.
My 2014 jeep cheroke limited stopped working without any prior warning. I was driving on the highway with my company children. I was going at a speed of 65 miles per hour, when it began to fail in a life, first I noticed the air conditioning stopped working, then I slowed down and stopped accelerating, I noticed that the speed changes suddenly began to change from Drive ( D) to neutral (N), and I got a picture on the dash saying I needed to check my transmission. So what I wanted was to get off the road because I was afraid that my three children were with me and I was afraid that something bad would happen, but the bad thing is that I couldn't stop, because there wasn't enough and safe space where I could stop the truck. and many cars came behind me. So I went about a...
The contact owned a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. Additionally, while the transmission was shifted into neutral (N), the vehicle stalled, causing the contact to crash into a tree. The contact sustained injuries, and medical attention was received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was deemed totaled by the insurance company. Additionally, the contact stated that when he turned off the AC, the vehicle would shut off. The contact stated that while the transmission was shifted into drive (D) it inadvertently shifted into neutral (N). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
March, 2022 - Replaced battery, vehicle died and wouldn't turn on. May, 2022 - Washing vehicle, electrical dash clusters, where gas and speed gauge is, and music screen in the center, horn, and start button started going haywire. We were still able to drive home, however, while driving all electrical went black. We were not able to tell the speed we were going, use blinkers or hazard lights. Once we got home, the start engine button wouldn't turn off the engine, was flickering on and off. We ended up pulling a fuse that turned off the engine. May, 2022 - A mechanic diagnosed BCM has severe corrosion inside circuitry. June, 2022 - took to Dodge to get replaced. October, 2022 - BCM was replaced. February, 2023 - Check engine code to replace thermostat. Thermostat was replaced. February, 2023 - washed jeep, back wiper blade started going off while vehicle was...
I have to keep replacing my engine oil housing filter. I do believe I was sold a faulty engine from Carvana after I was told it was inspected thoroughly. The car isn't even at 70,000 and I've had more repairs on it than I could imagine. The engine light keeps coming on and if I have to replace the entire engine that will be up to 10,000.
My car shifted to neutral and while I was driving
Car wont start when button pushed and everything in the jeep has been fixed and it still wont work Leaks oil non stop. Work needing to be done: New transmission to stop leak New Fuel Injection pump to start car (has not) New Shifter New Battery New Dashboard as the screen would flicker Car barely has 100k miles on it. Makes no sense
It keeps saying service gear shifter
While driving vehicle it doesn't matter if it is highway speeds or street speeds , transmission shifts into neutral and makes car stall. Almost got into at least 4 accidents because of the issue , glad drivers behind me were paying attention and quickly avoid the accident. I have to wait at least ten minutes before car will start again, during those ten minutes car will try to start but without luck. No check engine light , been to at least 5 different shops and no one can say what is wrong because check engine light is not on. And issue happens randomly and technicians Haven't been able to replicate issue. It is a safety hazard. I know jeep Cherokee have a recall for something similar. But it doesn't apply to mine since mine is a Grand Cherokee. Model before mine 2011 to 2013 have a recall for a similar...
Fuel pump relay has failed. It is internal and soldered onto the tipm board under the fuse block. This is a well known issue and a cheap fix on 2011 - 2013 models of jeep grand cherokees. The fix was to wire in an external bypass relay. My only option at this point is to replace the tipm board which is quite expensive, hundreds of dollars, for a $8 failed relay....terrible design. Thankfully I wasnt traveling 70 mph on the expressway when the failure occurred, (stall/lose power). Please extend this recall thru the 2015 models
The electrical system in the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee on occasion will not turn on correctly when started, the car operates, just a black screen. The radio and most importantly the rear view camera will not activate. It does return after 2-10 minutes after running (meaning turns itself on) & it also turn on the heat to 75. ( this happens in my car 15% -20% of the time on starting, rest of the time it works) The main problem is the rear view camera will not turn on when you just started the car, (when you need it) The Radio, Navigation, Rear camera, climate control all don’t work. So one that is used to using camera to reverse can't and it is dangerous, it is just a black screen.
First issue is that I had to replace the Uconnect system this year. It had been on the fritz for some time and updates could not be made to the old system. It would constantly go black. Second issue 2017-$30,000 Miles is that the Replaced steering rack and pinion and align 600 suspension and chassis 4778. Replaced the Leaking Rack and Pinion and passenger front caliper due to sticking bleeder valve 300 bakes. 11/2017 Evaporative System SEAL canister. 2018 Power Brake Booster/vacuum leak and braking issue. Replaced Radio. $1200 ish. Drove car 2/21 50,221 - 10/2022 53,000. October 2022 daughter driving car, gear slipping and engine light comes on and pulls over car not shifting at all into gear. Towed to Jeep where NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION plus at 53,000 miles!!! $15,00 plus quoted at JEEP.
Bought this vehicle 6 months ago and and realized right after purchase it has an error within the radio system that causes backup issues. The error appears on the radio and states “contact dealer” for radio service. What the vehicle does is that the backup camera becomes inoperable (black screen) and in my case the radio turns on straight heat blowing hot air from the system and turning on both defrosters, front and back. After doing some research, it appears that many 2014 Jeep owners and other years around this time period are experiencing this issue. Since the backup camera and backup sensors no longer work due to this error (it has to do with the Sierra Wireless card within the radio) it becomes a safely issue when it stops in the middle of backing up and is very scary. In Texas, having straight heat blown at you and your...
Computer system on dash started flashing & going out while driving telling me to turn engine off engage in park is disabled . Would let me shift gears making loud noise in engine
Driving 20-25 MPH, Stopped at a stop sign. Accelerated , then all instrument panel lights started flashing ,then went out of gear. I let off accelerator , then re-accelerated. Got the car home, a short distance. Was not able to put SUV into park. Engaged parking brake. Hours later started car up and was able to place into Park mode. Engine light stays on now.
I was driving my 2014 Grand Cherokee probably going 25mph the first time it happened. My Jeeps dash started blinking and popping up warning signs and then all of a sudden the Jeep comes to a fast stop and the engine completely killed. Everything locked up. My brakes, my shifter, my gas pedal everything locked, no screens were turning on and it wouldnt let me turn the Jeep back on for a couple minutes. When I turned it back on it was fine. A couple days later it did it again and again but I was going 40mph. Dropped off at the dealer told them to keep it till they found the problem. It was there 2 weeks didnt do it again. Hasnt done it since but Im still afraid its going to happen again but ill be on the highway.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated when he started the vehicle, the instrument panel failed to illuminate. The contact stated on a different occasion, while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle would not accelerate as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle was jerking and air condition became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the fuse box under the hood needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage 80,000.
This has happened three (3) times to me. The instrument cluster on my 2014 jeep Grand Cherokee just blackouts and the windshield wipers go on, then multiple cluster warning lights illumination and a loss of anti-lock brake system (ABS) / electronic stability control system function stops. The vehicle slows down because of loss of power. A loss of instrument cluster illumination and/or loss of ABS function while driving could cause a crash.
