Leaking a lot of oil to the point I had to refill every week.
When driving my jeep the dashboard will randomly give me a warning to service my shifter and all of the lights on shifter will go red. I have to turn my jeep off and back on for the lights to go back to normal. I have had to replace the power transfer unit due to the 4 wheel drive not working anymore. I took my car into the dealership to the PCM W84 Recall and two weeks later my transmission fluid exploded and the engine was smoking. Had to replace the heat ignition coil and the inlet hose. Paid $2,000 to repair and a week later my check engine light came on and now my car is overheating. Took it to the dealer and they added coolant and said it was an air bubble in the coolant. While driving the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly stops running without any warning. Engine stops. Car just coasts. PRNDL indicator (D for drive) on instrument cluster flashes instead of a constant D. Then some sort of messages comes up similar to "shift to neutral to start engine". Car will not restart. Car coasts to stop without power and no power steering. Then I need to turn ignition off. I will then cycle locks (locked then unlocked). Then turn on ignition. From here the car attempts to start but it is not an immediate start up like normal. The gauge needles (speedometer and tachometer) both go all the way to the right while the car attempts to restart but this startup takes about 10+ seconds of attempted cranking to finally restart. When accelerating the vehicle has a hard shift every now and then that’s very noticeable. Seems to be slipping or having trouble shifting occasionally when trying to get up to speed.

UNKNOWN. When driving my Jeep there will be times where I go to accelerate and my transmission will jump. Also while I’m driving all of my gears on my shifter will turn red and a message will pop up saying service shifter. It’s been happening for a few years but the last time it happened was today 7/22/2022.
On numerous occasions the car engine just shuts off or loses power. This happens consistently. The car has been taken to the dealership where it was purchased and was told "could not duplicate problem". This just happened again yesterday on a main street posted at 45 mph, where engine just shut off. Making left turns has become a gamble as power response is not there. This is a dangerous situation.
The incident happened in a parking lot. Backing out of the parking space, there was a delivery truck parked right behind me. Backing out of my parking space, I hit the bumper of the truck (no damage to the truck). As I pulled back into my parking space the vehicle accelerated very rapidly in a distance of approx. 25 feet; the acceleration seemed "Hell cat" like. Slamming my foot on the brake did not help. The vehicle then hit a brick retaining wall deploying multiple air bags and causing enough vehicle damage that the insurance company declared it totaled. It is amazing that the vehicle hit the brick wall with enough intensity to deploy the air bags and cause considerable front end damage after traveling such a short distance (approx 25 ft). The vehicle is in the insurance company's possession. As such, I do not have access to the vehicle....
The 'service shifter' code keeps showing up. The car shifts and drives fine when it happens but it concerns me because I've read where a few people have had the car accelerate by themselves when this happens.
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH across a bridge, several unknown warning lights illuminated and the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact was assisted by a Police Officer to move the vehicle into a service station. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle was driven to a dealer where the warning lights again reappeared. The vehicle received unstated repairs, but remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
The engine consumes a large amount of oil. I regularly have to add 1qt/ 800-100 miles. The engine will just stall if the oil level gets too low without any warning. In Alaska this poses an extreme hazard, especially in the winter.
The car will shut off unexpectedly while driving. This is extremely dangerous. This is the 6th time in the last 3 years that this has happened.
Engine and car was not warming up with remote start. Finally check engine light comes on. Code P0128 thermostat. Repaired 1/28/2021 @ 85762 miles. All antifreeze replaced. $600+ repair. 2/1/2022 same observed failure of engine to warm up during remote starts. 2/6/2022 check engine light comes on with code P0128. Again, thermostat failure. Miles 111,000. This appears to be a repetitive symptom of cherokees 2014+ with 2.4L engines. This can cause serious engine damage.

Heater hose broke while on the freeway causing all of the antifreeze to leak out and car to overheat with no warnings signs. Car started shaking and I pulled over and it shut off. Turns out the heater hose is made with two tubes connected toghether and the hose broke where the connect.
When stopping to turn the engine cut out while we were attempting to turn left. The car then alerted us to put the car into neutral to start ( Shift To Park Or Neutral Press Break + Select Gear.) We attempted to do as much in the middle of the intersection we were stuck in, posing a safety risk since we were in the middle of a left hand turn with on coming traffic. Drove approximately two miles and stopped the vehicle. Less than five minutes later start the car again. After three to five seconds the engine stalled. Vehicle was parked in a flat parking lot. It was about 55 degrees and clear this morning. I can no longer count the number of times this has happened on my hands.
After the vehicle stalled I waited a minute and tried to start the vehicle again. The engine started and came up with the error "Service Shifter." The status lights for all the gears were red. Service shifter warning. Car stalled twice. It has 45 k miles only. Won't start on first try.
My service shifter light came on and all the lights on the shifter console came on (PRND21). At first, I could turn the car off to reset it. This was dangerous because I had to pull over wherever I was. As time has gone on it pretty much stays on. My car has 33000 miles on it but is past the 3-year mark. I took it to the dealership and they told me the previous years had this problem but was recalled. It cost me $500.00 to replace a plastic bezel. I have saved all dealership repair paperwork. The dealership confirmed this is a very common problem.
I received an engine shutoff signal which disabled the car immediately without prior warning. It was due to the protection signal for low oil. The vehicle had a oil change 5,000 miles prior with synthetic oil. Over the course of 5,000 miles it "burned" the oil to the point of low level. Upon discovery, I noted many customer complaints (online) of this issue. There was no prior warning to the low oil level (no low pressure light or indicator.) I purchased this vehicle for my daughter and had she been driving on a busy highway, it would have disabled her car without any power to safely navigate this from the road, probably leading to a major accident. When breaking or turning on multiple occasions the vehicle shifts into neutral and turns off. It then stalls until it is switched on again.

WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 395 TRAVELING NORTH FROM SPOKANE, WA, WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 60 MPH, AFTER CRESTING A LOW HILL AND DESCENDING THE HILL MY CAR'S ENGINE BEGAN RACING THE RPM WENT TO 4500 RPM AND I COULDN'T GET IT TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP BY BRAKING OR CHANGING THE CRUISE CONTROL. MY CAR GOT TO 80 MPH WHEN I FINALLY GOT THE CRUISE CONTROL TO DISENGAGE BY PRESSING CANCEL AGAIN WHILE BRAKING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT'S VERY SCARY. I'M AFRAID TO USE THE CRUISE CONTROL IN MY CAR.

HE SAID THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF RECALL ON A SENSOR THAT UNTIL THEY COULD SCHEDULE ME IN, I NEEDED TO POUR OIL INTO THE ENGINE WHICH I DID. MY LIFE WAS PLACED IN DIRE JEOPARDY. BURNS THOUGH OIL LIKE A CHEAP ALCOHOLIC. USUALLY 1 QUART IS BURNED OFF EVERY 1000 MILES. THIS WAS SOMETHING I WAS NOT AWARE OF WHEN I PURCHASED THE JEEP. WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED, INITIALLY I WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE SHIFTER. SO THAT WAS A $500 REPAIR. LATER I FOUND OUT THAT 2017 JEEP CHEROKEES HAVE A UNIQUE ABILITY TO DRINK OIL. IF FCA IS AWARE, AND NOT FIXING THE ISSUE, THATS BULL CRAP. I HAVE AN OLDER CAR WITH A SIMILAR ENGINE AND CAN PUT 10,000 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES W/O AN ISSUE.

I DONT KNOW WHATS HAPPENING BUT IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCDIDENT TWICE ON 695 HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT SHUT OFF. THANK GOD THE KIDS WERE NOT WITH ME AT THE TIME. OIL FILTER HOUSING/COOLER LEAKS AND POOLS OIL ON TOP OF ENGINE. PART NUMBER 68105583AF. OIL DRAINS DOWN EITHER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. IT IS A PLASTIC PART THAT CAN EASILY FAIL DUE TO DEALER OVER LIGHTNING THE OIL FILTER WHEN PERFORMING AN OIL CHANGE. LEAK STARTS IMMEDIATELY THIS CAR HAS 22,300 MILES ON IT AND IS A 2017.

I HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR TWO MONTHS AND DROVE LESS THAN 2000 MILES AND MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE APPARENTLY BURNED OFF MOST OF THE OIL WITHIN THAT TIME AND NO LOW OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE OIL WAS LOW. I WOULD START DRIVING MY CAR AND IT WOULD JUST SHUT OFF. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THERE IS NO REASON WHY A OIL LIGHT SHOULDN'T WARN YOU, THE ONLY WARNING YOU GET IS YOUR CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS IS NOT SAFE! I BOUGHT A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED 10/31/2020. AT LEAST 7 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS MY CAR HAS STARTED AND I DRIVE ABOUT 1000 FEET AND MY CAR DIES. FLASHES RETURN TO PARK AND IT SHUTS OFF. MY CAR WILL START BACK AFTER ROLLING OVER A FEW TIMES. THIS IS NOT SAFE BECAUSE IF I PULL OUT IN FRONT OF SOMEONE AND MY CAR DIES I'M GOING TO HAVE A WREAK. USING EXCESSIVE OIL WITH NO LIGHTS COMING ON. CAUSED MY CAR TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A HWY TODAY WITH NO WARNINGS. GET IT BACK HOME AND IT IS 2 QUARTS LOW ON OIL AGAIN. I PUT OIL IN IT 1 1/2 WEEKS AGO.
THE VEHICLE IS BURNING OIL AND EVEN THOUGH THE OIL LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND DIE WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE IT'S BURNING OIL. THE CAR STARTED OFF BY PROBLEMS WITH THE CHIP TO COMPUTE THAT IT NEEDED TO OPEN THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL VALVE. SO WITH THAT CAME THE INABILITY FOR ME TO START THE CAR BY BEING OUTSIDE OF IT AND ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. THEN OUR GEARS WOULD LIGHT UP AS IF THE CAR WAS IN EVER POSITION POSSIBLE. WE WOULD PARK CUT THE CAR OFF AND RESUME TO DRIVE. THIS PROBLEM PERSISTED FOR A WEEK OR SO WENT AWAY AND EVENTUALLY CAME BACK. NOW THE ENGINE FEELS AS IF IT'S GIVING OUT IT DOESN'T ACCELERATE WELL, I KNOW IT'S A V4 BUT IT SHOULD HAVE MAINTAINED THE GET UP THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT AND IS WELL MAINTAINED WITH FREQUENT OIL CHANGES WITH THE BEST OIL. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER AT APPROXIMATELY 3200 MILES AND WAS PUT ON AN "OIL CONSUMPTION MONITORING PROGRAM" WHERE I RETURNED THE CAR EVERY 1000 MILES FOR MEASURING THE OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS WAS DONE EVERY 1000 MILES AND THE CAR NOW HAS 15,700 MILES. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE DEALER TIME BEFORE LAST, I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT ANOTHER 1000 MILES, RETURN AND IF OIL MUST BE ADDED, CHRYSLER WILL "REPLACE THE ENGINE." WHEN I SCHEDULED MY LAST CONSUMPTION CHECK, I WAS TOLD CHRYSLER NOW UPPED THE CHECKING INTERVAL TO 1500 MILES. THE DEALER ADDED ENGINE OIL TO THE ENGINE, AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK FOR INSPECTION EVERY THOUSAND MILES TO HAVE THE ENGINE OIL CHECKED AND A NEW OIL FILTER INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,612.
