MOTOR LOCKED UP . WAS DRIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN 10 MINS LATER CAR STOP LOST POWER
2015 HYUNDAI SONATA ECO MODEL WITH 1.6 TURBO ENGINE BEGAN SUDDENLY SHIVER AND SHAKE WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. ENGINE WAS LOSING POWER ALL OF A SUDDEN AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS BEHIND US. TOOK THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE WERE MANY MISFIRES AND 2 CYLINDERS BLEW UP. HYUNDAI DOESN'T MAKE ANYMORE LONG BLOCK ENGINES AND ASKING ME EXTRA $$ TO GET THE SHORT BLOCK ENGINES INSTEAD. THEY OFFERED 50% COST OF REPAIR WHICH WILL COST ME $4,500 OUT OF POCKET. IT'S BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 2 MONTHS NOW AND THEY HAVEN'T FIXED IT YET.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD A RATTLING SOUND ON THE ENGINE THEN THE CAR TURNED OFF. I HAD IT TOWED 53 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE CAR NEEDS A NEW ENGINE AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO SEND A REQUEST TO HYUNDAI FOR THE ENGINE. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE OF DAYS TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY SAY.
MY CAR WENT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT SAIDED LOW BATTERY THINKING I JUST NEEDED A BATTERY TO BE REPLACE THEN A FEW DAYS LATER THEY CALL AND SAIDED I NEED A NEW ENGINE TO BE PLACED HOW COULD THIS BE OUT OF NOWHERE NOW MY CAR GET EVERYTHING ON TIME SERVICE EVERYTHING ON TIME IT GOT TO BE RECALL ON THIS

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE AND THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CAR HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING; LOSS OF POWER; NON-RESPONSIVE WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE
VEHICLE DRIVER RECEIVED AUDIO AND VISUAL ALERT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED THAT THE "HYBRID WARNING FAILED AND TO CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM-TURN ENGINE OFF" AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE LOCKED AND LOST ALL POWER MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SAFELY EXIT THE INTERSTATE ALMOST INSTANTLY AFTER THE ALARM. UPON RESEARCH, I MANAGE A LARGE VEHICLE FLEET, WE HAVE MULTIPLE OTHER SONATA'S WITH THE SAME ISSUE-AND THERE IS A TSB FOR THIS KNOWN SAFETY FAILURE (17-HC-003-1).
WE BOUGHT OUR SONATA IN 2017, SINCE THEN IT HAS GONE INTO "LIMP MODE" (WHILE IN MOTION EVERY TIME) THREE TIMES. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND THEY CLAIMED IT NEEDED A "SOFTWARE UPDATE". THE UPDATE DIDN'T LAST TOO LONG BECAUSE IT WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" ONCE AGAIN. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP (AS INSTRUCTED BY THE DEALERSHIP) AND THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE SERVICES UNTIL A DIAGNOSIS FEE WAS PROVIDED; EVEN THOUGH THEY TOLD US TO BRING IT BACK IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND THEY WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM AT NO COST. WE REFUSED TO PAY THE FEE SINCE THEY HAD TOLD US THEY WOULD FIX IT FOR FREE AND THE CAR SAT FOR ABOUT A MONTH OR TWO WHILE WE USED MY HUSBANDS PARENTS VEHICLE (SINCE IT IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE). WE EVENTUALLY DROVE IT TO A THIRD PARTY MECHANIC (WHILE...
ENGINE IS KNOCKING AROUND 113,000 MILES. THIS IS CRAZY BECAUSE IT IS LOW MILEAGE.
THE CAR HAS FAILED TO START ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I ENTER THE CAR, PRESS THE BREAK AND THE PUSH TO START BUTTON, AND THE CAR FAILS TO IGNITE. IT HAPPENS NORMALLY WHEN IT IS COLDER, BUT WILL STILL DO IT WHEN IT IS WARMER OUT.

THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED OXMOOR HYUNDAI (8107 SHELBYVILLE RD, LOUISVILLE, KY 40222; (502) 894-3400) AND MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000.
FIRST I GOT MY TIRES CHANGE 2 ON THE BACK AND THE TPMS HAS BEEN ON SINCE THEM , AND DRIVING FROM WORK IN THE INDUSTRIAL PART OF TOWN WHERE TRAFFIC IS HIGH HEAVY AND FAST DRIVING IN ALL THE MY CAR JUST QUIT WHILE DRIVING AT 2:30AM GETTING OFF WORK, SO A GUY I WORK WITH SEEN ME SLOWING DOWN AND GAVE ME A BOOST AND AGAIN BEFORE I MADE IT HOME IT QUIT AGAIN AND I LIVE 15 MIN FROM AND WHEN I STOPPEDI WAS ABOUT 9MIN AWAY. LIGHTS STARTED FLICKERING AND THE CAR SHUTDOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF TTAFFIC. SO I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY FOR ALMOST $200 AND THAT DIDN'T WORK IT STARTED FOR A MOMENT AND WENT DEAD IN TRAFFIC AGAIN .
VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING WHILE DRIVING AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED DUE TO THE DECREASE IN ENGINE SPEED. IF I DIDNT QUICKLY PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE GRASS I WOULD'VE BEEN HIT. I COULD NOT DRIVE MORE THAN 10MPH AFTER THE DECREASE IN ENGINE SPEED.
THIS IS OUR DAUGHTER'S CAR. YESTERDAY (NOV 1) HER CAR STALLED, WITH THE WARNING "HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING! SAFELY STOP AND DO NOT DRIVE". THIS TIME SHE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT AND THE WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON WHEN SHE TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT'S HAPPENED. ON PREVIOUS OCCASIONS THE DEALER'S TECHNICIANS DID NOT EVEN RECORD ANYTHING IN HER MAINTENANCE RECORDS. SHE UNDERSTANDS THIS IS NOT AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM, WITH MANY HYUNDAI HYBRID OWNERS OF THAT SAME 2015 MODEL YEAR, AS WELL AS OTHER YEARS, REPORTING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. IS THIS SOMETHING THAT IS BEING LOOKED INTO? THE DEALER PERSONNEL JUST SORT OF DISMISS THIS AS NO BIG DEAL.

2015 SONATA HYDUNAI ENGINE MAKING NOISE , WILL NOT DRIVE PASS 40 MPH. ENGINE IS SHAKING AND KNOCKING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE HYDUNAI DEALERSHIP DOESN'T WANT TO CONSIDER IT'S NOT UNDER THE ENGINE RECALL HERE IN TEXARKANA, TEXAS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CRENSHAW HYUNDAI DEALER LOCATED AT 330 HUFFMAN MILL RD, BURLINGTON, NC 27215, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CVT SENSOR MAY NEED TO BE CLEANED. THE TECHNICIAN LOOKED AT THE SENSOR AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
JUST BOUGHT CAR TODAY, 30 MINS INTO DRIVE HOME, CAR BEGAN TO SPUTTER, HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN COMPLETELY. LOSS OF POWER, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HWY. NOT SAFE!! DEALERSHIP CAME AND TOWED CAR, BUT I AN VERY UPSET WITH PURCHASE.
OIL CONSUMES SUPER FAST. HAVING TO PUT MORE OIL IN AFTER OIL CHANGE AND ALSO HAVING TO TAKE VEHICLE BACK WHERE I GOT OIL CHANGE AND THEY ADD MORE OIL. THEY CHECKED FOR OIL LEAKS. NO LEAKS. CHECKED VALVE COVER GASKET (GOOD).
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY FOUR LANE I ENTERED A TURN LANE TO CROSS TRAFFIC. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND STEERING, WITH A ALARM STATING 'HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING-DO NOT DRIVE'. ONE VEHICLE NARROWLY MISSED HITTING MY CAR, (AS IT COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER AND STEERING AND LEFT ME STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF ON COMING TRAFFIC). RESEARCHING TODAY I SEE THIS IS COMMON BETWEEN 2012-2016 ESPECIALLY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT WAS NARROWLY AVOIDED.

ADVISED THE EXHAUST SOLONOID HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH SPARK PLUGS AND GASKETS DUE TO BURNING FROM THETA 2.0L TURBO OIL FEED LINE. CAR NOT DRIVABLE BACK TO HOUSTON WHERE I RESIDE. WE HAD TO FIND ADDITIONAL TIME TO STAY AT HOTEL AND WELL AS PAY FOR TRANSPORTATION BACK HOME. MY CAR IS STILL IN SAN ANTONIO. RECALL WAS REPAIRED LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO AND CAR NOW HAS THE SAME ISSUE.

THE CODE, P200A IS DESCRIBED IN A HYUNDAI TECHNICAL SERVICE REPORT FOR 2015 - 2016 SONATAS HOWEVER AFTER TAKING THE CAR INTO NEW PORT RICHEY HYUNDAI I WAS TOLD THAT THE SERVICE BULLETIN DIDN'T APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. IT IS A DANGER TO DRIVE WITH THE CONTROL UNIT FAILING AND MAY AT ANY TIME CAUSE THE CAR TO DECELLARATE.

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR LIGHTS CAME ON AND CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. I PULL OVER THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED AND WOULD NOT COME BACK ON. I GOT A TOW AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A RECALL ON MY ENGINE AND TO TAKE IT TO HYUNDAI.
IT BEGAN WITH A RATTLE LIKE METAL ON METAL WHEN GOING UPHILL. IT IS NOW A VERY BAD RATTLE WHEN ACCELERATING. WHETHER UPHILL OR NOT. CAUSE UNKNOWN WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM. I'VE HAD LOSS OF POWER. ALL OF THE RECALLS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER. 7TH HYUNDAI I'VE OWNED. IT WILL BE THE LAST DUE TO UNRESOLVED ENGINE ISSUES.

AFTER FINALLY BREAKING AWAY FROM THEM I WENT TO GET RESULTS OF MY TEST. THE TECHNICHAN TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR AND GOOD THING I WAS TRADING IT IN. I TOLD HIM I WASNT TRADING IT IN AND THEN HE SAID I NEED TO DO A FEW MORE TESTS. OF COURSE WHEN HE CAME BACK IT WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. I NEEDED PLUGS. MY CAR STILL HAS SAME PROBLEM. THEY ARE WAITING AND HOPING MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT IN 10000 MORE MILES. WHY ISNT THERE A RECALL ON THIS MOTOR??????
VEHICLE IS GOING THROUGH ENGINE OIL VERY QUICKLY. NO EVIDENCE OF A LEAK, NO EVIDENCE OF BURNING. OIL LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN OIL IS LOW. WHEN I CHECKED THIS MORNING, MY OIL LEVEL DIDN'T REGISTER ON THE DIPSTICK - BUT NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ONLY 100 MILES OVER MY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE. LAST CHECKED 2 WEEKS AGO AND WAS FINE.

AND LOST ALL POWER. OIL LIGHT CAME ON FOR 1 SEC AND THEN TURNED OFF THE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WENT OUT AND T HEN ROLLED TO A STOP. CAR TRIED TO START BUT WOULD NOT START. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE BECAUSE DEALER WAS CLOSED AND THEN TOWED TO DEALERSHIP 2 DAYS AGO STILL HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM AND I HAVE NO CAR TO GET BACK TO WORK. MY CAR HAS JUST TURNED 70,000 MILES AND SHOULD NOT BE GOING THROUGH THIS.

THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,738.
MY 19 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE STORE AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING ALL POWER WENT OUT STEERING BECAME HARD AND BRAKES BECAME HARD. AND SOMETHING SMELLED AS IF IT WAS BURNING. WE ARE THE SECOND OWNERS OF THE CAR AND BARELY DRIVE IT. IT WAS PURCHASED 2 YEARS AGO AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE IS KEPT ON THE CAR. UNFORTUNATELY WE DON'T HAVE A WARRANTY ON THE CAR ANY LONGER AND STILL MAKING PAYMENTS. THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED THAT CYLINDER NUMBER FOUR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC WASTEGATE ACTUATOR WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.
IN 2019 I HAD MY COMPUTER REPLACED WITH LESS THAN 60K MILES! I HAD EVERY LIGHT COME UP ON THE DASH BOARD. I'VE BEEN COMPLAINING TO THE DEALER SHIP ABOUT MY CAR RUNNING OUT OF OIL, THE ENGINE MAKES WEIRD NOISES AS IT CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 80K MILES ON IT. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED ON APRIL 15TH. 2020 6 DAYS LATER MY CARS ENGINE WAS MAKING NOISES CHECKED MY OIL AND I WAS DOWN ALMOST 2 QUARTS IN LESS THAN A WEEK. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH IT. *TR
MY CAR ENGINE WAS RUNNING FINE BUT WHEN I STARTED IT THE NEXT MORNING IT STARTED SHAKING REAL BAD. KIND OF A KNOCKING NOISE LIKE A ROUGH IDLE. *TR
ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION: MORE THAN 1 QUARTER EVERY 1,000 MILES BUT THE MECHANIC DID NOT FIND ANY LEAKING. THE VEHICLE HAS TOTAL 55,000 MILES AND I DRIVE ABOUT 1000 MILES/MONTH ON FREEWAY AND LOCAL STREETS. I ALSO FOUND MANY REPORTS ON THE WEBSITES AND MANY HYUNDAI DEALERS HAD TESTED THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND WAITING TO THE RESPONSE FROM HYUNDAI HEADQUARTERS.
DRIVING HOME AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THIS ALERT GOES OFF. BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING, PULL OVER NOW. CHECK BRAKES. CAR SLOLWS SHUTS OFF AND I'M STUCK ON THE ROAD. HAD TO GET A TOW AND NOW CAR WON'T START. SHOWS SAME WARNING WHEN I TRY TO START IT.
THE WEEK OF 2/3/20 I REPORTED MY VEHICLE'S LOSE OF POWER AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS AND THE ILLUMINATION & CHIMING OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY RAN ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS AND BEGAN AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. ON 3/2/20 THE VEHICLE AGAIN LOST POWER ON THE INTERSTATE. AGAIN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DID THE T3G CAMPAIGN. YESTERDAY 3/17/20 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND REMAINED ON FOR 5 STARTS OF THE ENGINE. THE DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE SYMPTOM ON 3/18/20. THE VEHICLE FAILED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST BY 363 MILES AND THE DEALER IS SUBMITTING A CLAIM FOR A NEW ENGINE. THIS MODEL YEAR CAR HAS SERIOUS DEFECTS AND MAY NOT BE SAFE TO DRIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND VEHICLE POWER WAS REDUCED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000. THE VIN PROVIDED WAS INCORRECT.
2015 HYUNDAI SONATA SE CAUGHT ON FIRE AFTER BEING PARKED IN APARTMENT BUILDING PARKING LOT ON 1/12/20. CAR WAS SERVICED AT CERTIFIED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP ON 1/10/20 FOR RECALL WORK AND TO INVESTIGATE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT THAT WOULD COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. REPAIR SHOP CLAIMED THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK AND RECOMMENDED AN OIL CHANGE/VALVE COVER GASKET REPLACEMENT (LAST OIL CHANGE JUST UNDER 5000 MILES PRIOR). CAR BEGAN SMELLING AS IF SOMETHING WAS BURNING LATER AFTER LEAVING REPAIR SHOP, AS WELL AS THE NEXT DAY, SO SHOP WAS CALLED BACK ON 1/11/20 AND MESSAGE WAS LEFT THAT IT NEEDED TO BE BROUGHT BACK IN ON MONDAY MORNING (1/13/20). OIL PRESSURE LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON, HOWEVER, NOR DID ANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS. CAR WAS DRIVEN SPARINGLY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD PRIMARILY FOR WORK PURPOSES OVER THE WEEKEND AND PARKED AFTER APPROX. 12 MINUTE COMMUTE HOME FROM WORK ON...
THE CAR SUDDENLY LOSES THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE MAKING IT VERY STRESSFUL TO DRIVE AS YOU ARE NOT CERTAIN WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN. AT FIRST IT IS INTERMITTENT BUT EVENTUALLY IT SIMPLY STAYS THAT WAY ONCE THE ISSUE BEGINS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING, HENCE THE CAR WILL HAVE AN ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TIME RETAINING SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY OR ACCELERATING AT A LIGHT OR AS YOU MERGE ONTO HIGHWAYS. CHANGING THE DRIVER MODE TO SPORT APPEARS TO HAVE A POSITIVE EFFECT AS IT CAUSES MUCH MORE AGGRESSIVE GEAR SHIFTING BUT IT THEN STAYS IN THE SAME GEAR FOR TOO LONG REACHING RPS THAT FEEL UNSAFE FOR THE ENGINE ITSELF. THIS IS NOW THE THIRD TIE THIS HAPPENS AND IT IS ALSO THE MORE SEVERE MANIFESTATION OF THE PROBLEM,. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER ASSERTED THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE IT BUT RETURNED THE CAR WITHOUT THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME...
8-10 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR WHILE DRIVING CAR IN FREEWAY HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING COMES UP PROMPTING TO SAFELY PULL OVER AND TURN OFF CAR. CAR THEN STARTS SLOWING DOWN. HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO HYUNDAI SERVICE 4-5 TIMES AND THEY KEEP FINDING BROKEN PARTS THAT DONT FIX THE PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING 60MPH WITH CRUISE ON A STATE HIGHWAY. WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED THERE WAS A NOISE I COULDN'T IDENTIFY. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO INVESTIGATE AND THE NOISE SOUNDED LIKE ROCKS GRINDING. I CHECKED OIL AND IT WAS FULL. WHEN CAR WAS RESTARTED THE NOISE RESUMED. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND IT DIDN'T START AGAIN. TOWED TO A GARAGE AND THEY SAID THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL AND MOTOR WAS LOCKED UP. 125K MILES AND REGULARLY MAINTAINED. ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $4000.

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH SOUTHTOWNE HYUNDAI (7665 GA-85, RIVERDALE, GA 30274) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
