OIL DILUTION ISSUE, THE OIL LEVEL OF THE VEHICLE IS WELL ABOVE THE FULL MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. I HAVE SEEN OTHER REPORTS OF THIS AND HAVE BEEN MONITORING THE SITUATION FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. EACH TIME UPON CHECKING OIL LEVEL THERE HAS BEEN AN INCREASE. AS OF TODAY IT APPEARS TO BE ABOUT 1/2 INCH ABOVE THE FULL MARK.
PURCHASED MY 1.5 LTR CRV IN AUGUST OF 2018, DURING THE 2ND WEEK IN NOVEMBER OF 2018, THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED BELOW 30 DEGREES F. I WOULD START THE CAR AND LET IT RUN IDLE TO HEAT UP BUT EVEN AFTER 20 MIN, THE ENGINE TEMP GAUGE REMAINED AT THE LOWEST LEVEL BUT WOULD RISE ONCE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE HEAT ONLY COMES OUT MODERATELY WARM AND THE TEMP GAUGE GOES BACK DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A STOP. DURING THE PAST FEW DAYS OR SO, I STARTED EXPERIENCING A SMELL OF GASOLINE FUMES IN THE CABIN OF THE CAR. I GET HEADACHES, DIZZINESS, NAUSEA, AND CHEST PAINS AND AN OVERALL ILL FEELING AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHICH REMAINS FOR ABOUT 4 TO 5 HOURS LATER. I DECIDED TO CHECK THE OIL AND IT SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE AND WAS WAY OVER THE MAXIMUM LEVEL. I CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TODAY...
SMELL OF GASOLINE IN ENGINE OIL, AND THE OIL LEVEL IS ABOVE MAX LEVEL (HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN IN A FEW DAYS). HASN'T CAUSED PROBLEMS YET BUT REPORTING AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE AS THERE SEEMS TO BE MANY OTHER SUCH REPORTS. THE CAR IS LESS THAN 4 MONTHS OLD.
ENGINE OIL DILUTION - GASOLINE IS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND DILUTING THE ENGINE OIL. IT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL. IT SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE A LOT INSIDE THE CAR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE ENGINE DOES NOT GET WARMED UP FAST ENOUGH. THE ENGINE OPERATES TOO COLD EVEN AFTER DRIVING ABOUT A MILE DISTANCE. ANOTHER MAJOR ISSUE IS THAT THE ENGINE OIL IS LEAKING OUT. LEAKED OIL IS OBSERVED UNDER THE ENGINE WHERE THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ENGINE JOIN. THE DEALERS IN US WOULD NOT FIX THESE ISSUES OR DO NOT EVEN HAVE A FIX FOR THEM ALTHOUGH IT IS MAJOR ISSUES FOR MANY 9TH GEN CR-VS.
CHANGED OIL AT 5000 MILES. OIL LEVEL WAS OVER SEVEN QUARTS AFTER DRAINED. IS ONLY SUPPOSED TO HAVE 3.7 QUARTS. NOTIFIED DEALER OF CONDITION. FUEL IS LEAKING INTO OIL PAN
ENGINE OIL SMELLS OF GASOLINE AND BEEN CHANGE TWICE SINCE PURCHASED NEW. CURRENT MILEAGE 4,891 MILES. FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 2,819 MILES, SECOND AT 4,620 MILES. WITHIN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME ENGINE OIL STARTS TO SMELL OF GASOLINE. VEHICLE USED LOCALLY AND ON HIGHWAY.
STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IN ENGINE OIL. HAD OIL CHANGED LAST WEEK AND HONDA TECH CONFIRMED.
GAS IS GETTING INTO THE ENGINE OIL CAUSING OIL VISCOSITY LOSS. IT IS ALSO CAUSING TO MUCH FLUID IN THE OIL PAN AND POTENTIALLY DAMAGING ENGINE INTERNALS WITH TO MUCH FLUID AND LOSS OF LUBRICATION. ENGINE DOES NOT REACH OPERATING TEMPERATURE IN COLD WEATHER, CAUSING POOR PERFORMANCE AND NOT HEAT FROM THE HVAC SYSTEM.
OIL BECOMES DILUTED WITH GASOLINE. OIL LEVEL EXCEEDS MEASURE INDICATOR. GAS SMELL PENETRATES THE CABIN. GAS SMELL ALSO IN OIL. NOT SURE WHEN IT BEGAN TO OCCUR.
HONDA ENGINE OIL ISSUE. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW 8/20/2018. CHECKED THE OIL 11/17/2018 AND WAS .25 INCH OVER THE ORANGE MAX LINE. DID AN OIL CHANGE AT HOME. OIL WAS WATERY AND SMELLED VERY STRONGLY OF GASOLINE.
[ POSS. GAS IN OIL ] HAVE BEEN SEEING OIL LEVEL RISING AFTER FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 7100 MILES. OCT.15. AT 9100 LEVEL WAS APPROX. 3/8 OF AN INCH ABOVE THE HIGH MARK ON DIPSTICK. TOOK CAR TO JEFF WYLER HONDA, AND TALKED TO SERVICE MANAGER WHO STATED THAT THERE MAY BE A FIX COMING BUT AS OF NOW NOTHING. TOLD ME TO WATCH OIL LEVEL FOR MAYBE ANOTHER 1000 MILES. ON NOV.17 OIL LEVEL WAS ALMOST UP 1 INCH ABOVE HIGH MARK ON DIPSTICK. NOV. 19 ,TOOK TO DEALER AND HAD OIL CHANGED EARLY ( 3000 ) MILES . DEALER STATED OIL WAS UP ABOUT 1/2 QT. I HAVE A PICTURE OF DIPSTICK ON IPAD BUT NOT SURE HOW TO UPLOAD IT.
OIL CONTAMINATION
BOUGHT NEW ON JANUARY 24, 2018. DRIVING CAR ON FREEWAY AND AT 312 MILES ALL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, CRUISE AND ALL OTHER ELECTRONIC SYSTEM WERE DOWN. WHEN WE STOPPED THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT THE COMPUTER CAME BACK UP AND WORK. ON THE WAY BACK AT 572 MILES ON CRV THE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN AGAIN, REQUIRING SHUTTING DOWN AND STARTING CAR UP TO RESET COMPUTER. CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID DUST AND WEATHER WILL CAUSE IT TO FAIL BUT THERE WAS NO DUST AND CLEAR DAY. AFTER THE DEALER WORK ON IT SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG, HAD OIL CHANGED AT DEALER ON OCT 18TH 2018, OCT 30 2018 ON I 90 EAST BOUND THE RADIO LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT WORK HAD TO RESTART CAR TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER, ON NOV 5TH 2018 AT 605PM ALL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN HAD TO STOP CAR AND RESTART...
GAS MIXING IN WITH OIL, SMELLING THE GAS ON THE DIP STICK AND WHILE DOING AN OIL CHANGE.
THERE IS AN EXTREMELY HIGH READING ON THE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK. A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IS PRESENT IN THE ENGINE'S OIL. THE OIL READS ABOUT HALF AN INCH HIGHER ON THE DIPSTICK THAN THE MAXIMUM MARK INDICATES.
OIL HAS GAS LEAKING INTO IN IN BRAND NEW CRV. CONTINUOUS ISSUE ONGOING.
I CHECKED MY OIL AFTER READING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE HAVING AN ISSUE WITH GASOLINE IN THE CRANKCASE. THE OIL LEVEL WAS OVER THE FILL MARK BY A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT AND THERE WAS A DISTINCT SMELL OF GASOLINE COMING FROM THE OIL FILLER CAP. THE CAR WAS TWO WEEKS OLD AND HAD 225 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT SMELL GASOLINE AND THE OIL LEVEL LOOKED GOOD. TOTAL LIES. THEY TOLD ME I WAS THE FIRST ONE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THERE WAS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM BUT DID NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH IT.
GASOLINE LEAKING INTO THE OIL, FUEL ODORS IN CABIN, ENGINE HESITANCY
PURCHASED NEW 2018 HONDA CR-V AWD DECEMBER 2017 FROM DEALER IN ORLANDO FL. WITHIN FIRST FEW MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP HAD MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHERE "GAS/FUEL" SMELL FILLED THE CABIN OF CAR WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION BY A FRIEND (LATE SUMMER) THAT THERE APPEARS TO BE ISSUE WITH THE 1.5 L EARTHDREAMS HONDA ENGINE. AREA OF ISSUE IS OIL DILUTION BY FUEL "LEAKING" INTO IT & MIXING. I THEN BEGAN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE AND WAS QUITE SURPRISED TO FIND THAT HONDA HAD ALREADY RECALLED A HUGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES IN CHINA WITH THIS OIL DILUTION ISSUE ON THIS SPECIFIC ENGINE. WHEN I CALLED MY HONDA DEALER TO ASK ABOUT ISSUE/REPAIR, I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUE OF THIS TYPE AND THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS/TSBS REGARDING ISSUE. WOW? THAT'S WHEN MY CONCERN LEVEL ROSE, AS ON THE DEALER LEVEL THERE...
GASOLINE IS CONTAMINATING AND DILUTING THE ENGINE OIL. OIL TURNED BLACK AND DILUTED BY THE GASOLINE AND HAD TO BE CHANGED WITH LESS THAN 1500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. CONCERNED THAT THE GASOLINE DILUTED OIL IS POSING A FIRE AND SAFETY RISK.
UPDATE TO COMPLAINT # 11138878, 11138881, AND 11139308. 1 MONTH OLD CRV, 2ND TIME TOOK TO DEALER FOR OIL OVERFULL/ OIL SMELLS LIKE GASOLINE. THEY HAVE A NEW SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH DIRECTED THEM TO CHANGE THE OIL (NOT FILTER) AND UPDATE THE SOFTWARE. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE DEALT WITH HOW GASOLINE WAS SPRAYED INTO THE CYLINDERS AND WAS SUPPOSED TO STOP THE GASOLINE-IN-OIL CONDITION. AFTER A FEW DAYS -- AGAIN THE OIL IS OVERFULL (BY ABOUT AN INCH OVER "FULL"), THE OIL IS BLACK AND RUNNY AND REEKS OF GASOLINE. SOFTWARE UPDATE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IF ANYTHING IT'S WORSE. SECOND, NEW PROBLEM: THE SOFTWARE UPDATE CAUSED OUR MPG DISPLAY TO CHANGE FROM 29.5 MPG (OVER 4000 MILES) TO 23 MPG. MORE ALARMINGLY, OUR GASOLINE MILEAGE HAS DECREASED FROM 26 CITY/30 HIGHWAY/ 29 AVERAGE TO 26/29/27 AVERAGE.
THIS VEHICLE GETS A TERRIBLE SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY ON INITIAL START-UP. THIS VEHICLE IS UNPLEASANT TO DRIVE DO TO THIS SMELL, ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM ON. MY WIFE SUFFERS FROM MIGRAINES AND CANNOT RIDE IN THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WAS CONFIRMED BY MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP, VALLEY HONDA, IN AURORA IL. NO RESOLUTION WAS PROVIDED AS THEY INDICATED THE SMELL IS TIED TO THE WELL KNOW OIL-DILUTION PROBLEM WITH THIS 1.5 TRBO ENGINE, WHICH THEY CONFIRMED THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAS (BUT FOR WHICH NO 'FIX' HAS BEEN ISSUED IN THE U.S.) SO NOW, NOT ONLY AM I DAMAGING THE NEW ENGINE WHEN DRIVEN, BUT ALSO THE OCCUPANT HEALTH BY EXPOSING THEM TO GASOLINE FUMES. THIS IS JUST WRONG ON A NEW VEHICLE AND NEEDS A PROACTIVE RECALL ASAP.
MY 2018 CR-V SUFFERS FROM THE DREADED [OIL DILUTION ISSUE] WHERE GASOLINE GETS INTO THE OIL RAISING THE LEVEL ABOVE THE FULL MARK. THE RESULT IS A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL, SOMETIMES IN THE CABIN BUT ALWAYS WHEN YOU PULL THE DIPSTICK TO CHECK THE OIL. THE OIL LEVEL IS ALWAYS CONSIDERABLY HIGHER THAN THE FULL MARK. I PRESENTED THIS ISSUE TO MY DEALER, AND THEY CONFIRMED THE SMELL OF GAS IN THE OIL, THE HIGH LEVEL AND THE FACT THAT MANY 2017-18 CRV'S SUFFER FROM THIS SAME ISSUE. THEIR UNACCEPTABLE SOLUTION WAS TO CHANGE THE OIL AND MAKE LONGER TRIPS TO TRY TO BURN OFF THE GASOLINE IN THE OIL. THEY ALSO SAID THAT HONDA WOULD BE ISSUING A STATEMENT IN THE FALL ABOUT FIXING THE ISSUE. FIRST A BIT ABOUT THE ISSUE. ENGINE SOUNDS - CAR IS UNDER 3,000 MILES AS OF NOV. 2018. PURCHASED JUNE 2018. AIR CONDITIONING DID NOT WORK RIGHT AFTER JUNE 2018 PURCHASE. RETURNED 3 TIMES TO GET REPAIRED AND EVER SINCE THIS "REPAIR) TO FIX THE A/C, THE ENGINE HAS BEEN VERY LOUD ON ACCELERATION FROM A FULL STOP OR TO INCREASE SPEED WHEN AT A LOW SPEED. DO NOT RECALL THIS LOUD ENGINE AT PURCHASE. LOUD ENGINE SOUNDS DISAPPEAR AT CRUISE. HAD IT TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THIS PURPOSE AND THE DEALER (SALMON, REPAIR DEPARTMENT HAVE STATED, "NOTHING WRONG, THIS IS THE WAY THE NEW CRV TURBO ENGINES SOUND).
NEW VEHICLE CHECKED OIL APPROACHING 4500 MILES IN PREPARATION FOR FIRST OIL CHANGE. OIL WAS BLACK, RUNNY, SMELLED OF GASOLINE ON DIPSTICK AND OVER 1/2 INCH ABOVE FULL MARK ON DIPSTICK. TOOK CAR IN TO DEALER SERVICE AND THEY SAID MUST HAVE BEEN OVERFILLED AT FACTORY. REPLACED OIL AND FILLED TO EXACTLY 50% MARK ON DIPSTICK AND DOUBLE CHECKED. 3 WEEKS AND 200 MILES LATER, OIL 1/8 -1/4 INCH ABOVE FULL. CAR SOMETIMES RUNS ROUGH WHEN COLD AT IDLE OR PARK. CALLED 2 DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND THEY SAID WE KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT NO INSTRUCTIONS FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION GIVEN FROM HONDA IN US. CHINA AND JAPAN ANNOUNCED SAFETY RECALLS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. WINTER IS COMING AND CONCERNED ABOUT COLD WEATHER RELIABILITY OF MOTOR.
AFTER DRIVING MY CRV LESS THAN 500 MILES THE OIL LEVEL IS ABOVE THE FULL INDICATOR LINE AND HAS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. I'VE CHANGED THE OIL THREE TIMES IN JUST UNDER 2000 MILES AND EACH TIME THE OIL LEVEL RISES AGAIN. I'VE ELIMINATED SHORT TRIPS ALLOWING THE ENGINE TO RUN AT LEAST 20 MINUTES AT FULL TEMPERATURE AND THAT HAS DONE NO GOOD. I'VE FOLLOWED HONDA'S SUGGESTION TO DRIVE IT IN SPORT MODE WHICH ALSO HAS DONE NO GOOD. THIS PROBLEM STARTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE AND HAS CONTINUED. I'VE CALLED SEVERAL HONDA DEALERS AND THEY OFFER NO ASSISTANCE OTHER THAN OFFERING AN OIL CHANGE AT $69.99.
I'M GETTING RANDOM FUEL/OIL SMELLS INTO THE CABIN. I ALSO NOTICED THE ENGINE OIL DIP STICK IS SHOWING OVERFILLED AND THE OIL SMELLS LIKE GAS.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH INFOTAINMENT SCREEN/SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM FREEZES AND SOMETIMES GOES BLACK AND WON'T RESPOND TO TOUCHES AND OR INSTRUCTIONS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO PERMANENT FIX. ALSO, VEHICLE TEMPERATURE REMAINS COLD. THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND THE TEMP STAYS COLD WITH NO HEAT IN THE CABIN. EXPERIENCING FUEL MIXING WITH OIL AND SOMETIMES SMELL OF FUEL IN THE CABIN IS NOTICEABLE.HIGH OIL LEVEL IS ALSO PRESENT. DEALERSHIP AND HONDA NA BOTH INFORMED ME THAT I WILL NEED FREQUENT OIL CHANGES UNTIL THEY FIND A PERMANENT FIX.
AFTER 500KM OF DRIVING, THE OIL LEVEL WAS OVER THE TOP LIMIT AND THERE WAS STRONG GAS SMELL COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CAR TAKES A LOT TIME TO WARM UP. VISITED THE SHERWOOD PARK HONDA DEALER ON NOV 5, 2018 FOR THIS PROBLEM, THEY FOUND THE OIL LEVEL WAS 25MM ABOVE THE LIMIT. THEY DISCHARGED SOME OF THE OIL WITHOUT OIL CHANGE. THEY FOUND NO RECALLS ON THIS SO THEY COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THEY CONSIDER THIS PROBLEM AS MINOR AND SAYING PERHAPS THEY FILLED MORE OIL THAN NECESSARY. I CALLED HONDA CANADA TWICE ON NOV 5, 2018 REGARDING THE FIX TO THIS PROBLEM. THE CASE NUMBER IS 1150181. THEY SAID THERE WILL BE AN "UPDATE" ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM FROM EARLY NOVEMBER, BUT NOT SURE WHETHER MY VEHICLE WILL BE INCLUDED INTO THIS "UPDATE". THERE IS UNBURNT FUEL IN THE CRANKCASE CAUSING SEVERE EXHAUST FUMES IN SIDE THE PASSENGERS COMPARTMENT. ANY LONG RIDE IN VEHICLE CAUSE PASSENGERS TO GET NAUSEOUS AND LIGHT HEADED.

JUST READ ABOUT THE PROPOSED FIX AND FOUND THAT THEY ARE ONLY DOING THIS IN COLD WEATHER STATES. I HAVE HGAD MY CAR FOR 9 MONTHS AND HAVE LESS THAN 5000 MILES ON IT. I ONLY USE IT FOR SHORT TRIPS WHICH IS WHY I BELIEVE I MAY HAVE THIS ISSUE. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE IN THE FUTURE LONG AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND HONDA WILL NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY! GASOLINE ENTERING OIL PAN. AFTER BEING INFORMED OF THIS PROBLEM BY A WELL KNOW PUBLICATION, I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL ON MY CAR AND FOUND IT ELEVATED. AFTER SMELLING THE OIL ON THE DIPSTICK, I SMELLED GASOLINE IN THE OIL.
AS OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT, A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR FILLS THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT LIVE IN A VERY COLD ENVIRONMENT.
WE SMELL GASOLINE IN THE ENGINE OIL, WHICH WE DISCOVERED IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH CR-V 1.5L TURBO ENGINES. THE SALES PERSONNEL DID NOT OWN UP TO THE KNOWN TURBO PROBLEM WHEN WE ASKED ABOUT TURBO ENGINE RELIABILITY BEFORE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THIS DEFECT RUINS ENGINE PARTS AND COULD CAUSE COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AT HIGH SPEEDS, WHICH MAY CAUSE ACCIDENTS WITH BODILY INJURY.
BOUGHT 2018 HONDA CR-V EXL ONLY 2 WEEKS AGO. IT HAS 500 MILES ON IT. I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I FOUND THAT THE OIL IS OVER FULL AND VERY DILUTED WITH GASOLINE. I WORRY THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE ENGINE GETS HOT WILL THE GAS IGNITE. IS THIS GOING TO CAUSE EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE ENGINE DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION? HONDA NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. PEOPLE ARE PAYING HARD EARNED MONEY FOR THESE VEHICLES.
GASOLINE IS ENTERING ENGINE OIL RESULTING IN OVER-FILL SITUATION AND SMELL OF GAS. AFTER READING CONSUMER REPORTS ARTICLE, I CHECKED MY OIL LEVEL AND SMELL OF OIL ON MY 20018 HONDA CRV WITH ABOUT 11,615 MILES. OIL LEVEL WAS OVER "FULL" LEVEL OF ORANGE DIPSTICK AND SMELLED OF RAW GAS. TOOK CAR INTO LOCAL DEALER FOR OIL INSPECTION AND CHANGE. THEY CONFIRMED THAT "VEH WAS HALF QT OVER FULL AND SMELLED LIKE FUEL". THEY CONTACTED HONDA TECHLINE FOR CORRECTION AND RECEIVED THIS REPLY: "CONTACTED TECHLINE WAS TOLD COLD START SHORT TRIP IS NORMAL ADVISE CUSTOMER TO TAKE LONGER TRIPS, AND THAT HONDA IS LOOKING INTO IT". IN OTHER WORDS, THEY BLAMED THE CUSTOMER'S DRIVING HABITS EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE (SEE CRV RECALL IN CHINA). OIL WAS CHANGED IN SPRING AND WE WERE IN RURAL AREA OVER THE SUMMER SO COLD START AND SHORT TRIPS DOES NOT APPLY....
FUEL IS CONTAMINATING THE OIL CAUSING THE LEVEL TO RAISE 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH ABOVE FULL WHEN CHECKING OIL LEVEL WITH DIP STICK. CHANGING OIL AT 2,000 MILES FROM LAST OIL CHANGE. POSSIBLE ENGINE DAMAGE WHICH COULD LEAD TO BEING STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY.
MY CONCERN OF REPORTS REGARDING GAS IN OIL OF 2017-2018 CR-V 1.5 TURBO. REPORTS OF STALLING, ENGINE DAMAGE, GIVE ME LITTLE COMFORT THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS ON SHORT TRIPS AND COLD CLIMATES WHEN WE LIVE IN IOWA. THIS IS MY SECOND HONDA AND BOUGHT AGAIN BECAUSE OF ITS PREVIOUS RELIABILITY. WE HAVE 381 MILES ON THIS CAR.(232 AT TIME OF PURCHASE ON 10-11-18. NO WARNING WAS MADE OF THIS POSSIBLE PROBLEM BEFORE PURCHASE. WE ARE "COUNTING ON" HONDA TAKING RESPONSIBILITY AND CORRECTING.
I PURCHASED MY 2018 HONDA CR-V EX-L IN DECEMBER OF 2017. I NOTICED WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS THAT THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS EXTREMELY SLOW TO CLIMB, AND OFTENTIMES WOULD "LOSE" TEMPERATURE ON COLDER DAYS. I SPENT TIME TESTING THE CONDITIONS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WOULD FLUCTUATE SO I WOULD HAVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO PROVIDE THE DEALERSHIP. I WOULD DRIVE BOTH STOP-AND-GO, AS WELL AS ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 15-30 MINUTES AT A TIME TO GET THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE NORMAL, AND THEN PULL INTO A PARKING LOT WITH THE ENGINE STILL RUNNING. AFTER ABOUT 2-5 MINUTES, THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE WOULD START TO DROP, EVENTUALLY DROPPING TO 1-2 INDICATOR MARKS ON THE GAUGE. I WOULD ALSO NO LONGER HAVE ANY HEAT AT THAT POINT (THE HVAC SYSTEM WOULD BLOW COLD). I WENT THROUGH 2 SEPARATE DEALERS TROUBLESHOOTING THIS ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM HAD IT IN SERVICE...
OIL LEVEL IN CRANKCASE RISING FROM FUEL DILUTION
STRONG GAS SMELL IN PASSENGER CABIN. GAS MIXING WITH ENGINE OIL. CONSEQUENTLY ENGINE OIL LEVELS RISING VERY HIGH.
THE ENGINE OIL HAS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. SO FAR, THERE HAS BEEN NO LOSS OR ENGINE POWER OR ENGINE FAILURE. THE EXHAUST ALSO HAD THE SMELL OF BURNING GASOLINE.
THE ENGINE OIL SMELLS STRONGLY OF GASOLINE AND THE EXHAUST SMELLS OF BURNED GASOLINE. SO FAR, THERE HAS BEEN NO STALLING OF THE ENGINE NOR ENGINE FAILURE. HOWEVER, I'M AWARE OF THE RECENT SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS ENGINE PROBLEM REGARDING THE 2017 AND 2018 HONDA CR-V MODELS.
GAS MIXING IN MY OIL AND MY HEATER QUITS IN THE MORNING AS THE CAR WARMS UP.
1.5L TURBO ENGINE- CHANGED OIL AT 5200 MILES TECH SAID "VERY DIRTY". AT 7200 MILES/6 MONTHS- ALMOST STALLED IN TRAFFIC 3 TIMES. ALL THREE TIMES I HAD TO BRAKE SUDDENLY. SMELL OF GAS IN THE CAB ONCE. I CHECKED THE OIL, AFTER 2000 MILES SINCE LAST CHANGED- OIL WAS BLACK AND SMELLED LIKE GAS. DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP- THEY HAVE HAD IT OVER A WEEK. THEY SEEM ELUSIVE IN UPDATES. TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG ONE MINUTE, IT'S OK THE OIL WAS THAT DIRTY, BUT THEN THEY "UPDATED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM" AND CHANGED THE OIL. AGAIN THEY SAID- NOTHING IS WRONG, BUT THEY WANT TO KEEP IT ONE MORE NIGHT TO TEST DRIVE IT AND HONDA HAS A SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM COMING SOON.
