THE CONTACT RESEARCHED AND FOUND INFORMATION WHICH STATED THAT THE ENGINE'S SHORT BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $5,000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

WHEN I DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSH THE START BUTTON, ALL OF MY 'NORMAL' DASH LIGHTS COME ON AS IF I PUT IT IN START MODE AND I HEAR ONE CLICK, BUT THE ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OVER. WHILE THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, IT HAPPENS MORE THAN IT STARTS ON THE FIRST TRY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT CAN TAKE BETWEEN 2-6 TRIES BEFORE IT FINALLY STARTS. I REPLACED THE BATTERY 6 MONTHS AGO, BUT THE ISSUE CAME RECENTLY AND IS STILL ONGOING. I HAD THE ALTERNATOR AND STARTER BOTH TESTED BY NUMEROUS PLACES AND BOTH ARE TESTING GOOD.

THIS PROBLEM CAUSED EVERY OTHER ELECTRONIC SAFETY SYSTEM IN THE CAR TO INTERMITTENTLY FAIL. OPENED A CASE WITH AMERICAN HONDA WHO DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. THESE UNITS FAIL RARELY AND SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THE PART (36,000 MILE 3-YR WARRANTY) WAS EVEN BACK ORDERED FROM THE MANUFACTURER. FOR EXAMPLE, ONLY 1 UNIT WAS REPLACED IN ATLANTA, GA SINCE 2014, THEY WANTED ALMOST $1,600 TO FIX THE ISSUE. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SPECIALIST WHO FIXED IT FOR UNDER $600 BY FINDING A USED PART.
