2015 FORD FUSION Electrical System Problems

My 2015 Ford Fusion back over prevention camera system, is no longer working. I only get the black screen with error message "Camera is unavailable. Contact dealership". Which is creating a safety issue, while the vehicle is backing up. Reference Recall Number 25SA9 as many other ford products have the same issue. Many 2015 Ford models are covered under this recall. However, my fusion is not, because the recall only states 2016. My camera was troubleshot by a certified mechanic and was deemed a faulty camera by testing it with a different camera, and the system started working properly again.

Rear camera continuously malfunctions with grainy/dark image, just completely failed with message on screen “Rear camera Not Available”. This puts myself and the people and vehicles around me at risk of collision when parking or reversing out of a parking space. This problem is common among many Ford Fusion owners.

The rear camera has worked intermittently, it goes out and comes back on. It is a huge safety risk. Mg vehicle needs to be included in the recall.

I have been having issues with the vehicle where it will stall. This even happened when I was driving on the NJ turnpike, it stalled while driving and I had to pull over (thankfully I could) to restart the vehicle. It took the dealer 3 weeks to finally figure out the issue and tracked it down to a bad BCM (Body Control Module). I researched this further and found some interesting information. In November 2024 my back up camera failed. The dealership diagnosed a failed camera and installed a new one for $ 800. In July 2025 the camera failed again. It was under warranty but the dealer diagnosed the issue as a low power failure and replaced the battery for $ 600. This week the back up camera is beginning to intermittently fail with a message "see dealership for repair". I feel I may have spent $ 1400 for unnecessary repairs as the issue still exists. My Ford Fusion Hybrid is not on the list of Fords covered under the current recall.

The rear camera does not function properly on my 2015 Ford Fusion. When I try to use it, it either turns into a black screen or the message reads that "rear camera is unavailable", which has almost caused me to collide with another vehicle several times as I was trying to back up. I understand that there is a national recall for Ford Fusion vehicles from 2018 on for exactly the same reason. However, even though my Ford Fusion is a 2015, it demonstrates the same problem as the newer models listed in the recall. I would like to have my camera replaced (at no charge) as well, since I am dealing with the same safety hazard as the models listed in the national recall. My backup camera has started to glitch like the other 2015 fords that are in recall. The screen will get green lines through it, go black, flip horizontal/vertical, flash on and off, it creates more of a distraction than assistance and makes it very hard to back in/out of tight spaces. I have not taken it to the dealership. Right before the other recall was released I called the dealership and told me I’d have to get a whole new camera installed and pay out of pocket. 3 times in the past 4 days my trunk has opened while the car has been turned off. Thankfully not while I was driving. Not Yet anyway. The doors have unlocked on their own while driving and parked. And the keypad light stays on all the time. There has been no warning lights on the dashboard. It is a safety concern, cause if it did that while driving (I’ve heard of others this has happened to) things can fly out of the trunk and cause someone to wreck. Or my car could get stolen. The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the taillights failed to turn off as designed. The contact had to disconnect the battery for the taillights to be turned off. Additionally, the Hill Assist warning light was illuminated after reconnecting the battery. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that there was no recall coverage on the vehicle and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 114,352.

Power steering went out and has a recall for it on the website but under the car doesn't, have it but it went out all of sudden

Back up camera stops working while in the middle of backing up, sometimes it does not work at all.

The transmission shift bushing fell off and my gear shift is stuck in park while the transmission indicator is registering as neutral. This was a recall for many Ford Fusion models but apparently not mine, although it is certainly the same issue the other models were experiencing. The bushing lubricant/bushing appears to have worn down over time resulting in this issue.

The power steer system went out on my car with no warning , the catalytic converter is going out . This car have caused me more problems than a little. The dealership are full so you can’t get any recall done. This is a bad car and should be off the lots. I can’t get reimbursed for no work I put into this car because I didn’t take it to the dealership. This is unfair to me I work very hard for my money. Headlights do not work. I have replaced the low beams bulbs 3 times since purchasing my car over three years ago and each time the lights only work for a brief period of time them seem to short out unexpectedly, for no reason whatsoever. The high beams have been replaced multiple times as well. I purchased the fluorescent bulbs for better night vision. The lights were bright for a short period them dimmed and are only as bright as they should be if they were on low beam. Had to have my transmission replaced due to harsh shifting into 2nd & 3rd gear while driving, as well as when you slow down it would down shift in those two gears. Had the transmission replaced, and not even a week later after they also updated the ECU for the transmission, now this transmission that was put in is doing the exact same thing. Now a few weeks later my trunk is randomly opening while I'm driving or while I'm at work, ECT.

The side mirrors adjust to a position on their own. They also become fixed in this position and are unable to move. Not sure why this happens. I saw some complaints of water exposure being the issue but I have not been able to test this theory. This issue becomes very dangerous when on any road but especially the highway

The Power Steering Assist Fault went out on the car and this is a common problem with ford fusion. The worse’s connected to the transmission became loose. This has cost me money from the dealership.

Knocking sounds started happening when turning steering wheel. Confirmed by independent mechanic and Rodman Ford dealership to need power steering rack/electric motor. Recall for this problem on other 2015 Ford fusions but my VIN is not included. I have been told this is a serious safety issue and it should be covered.

When pressing the start/stop button for the engine, the plastic chrome retaining ring collapsed. This resulted in the entire start/stop switch assembly falling into the dashboard. Causing an issue with turning off and on the engine, as per manufacturer guidelines and in a safe manner. Replacement of the entire switch unit is required.

The brake lights remain on, car started jerking in traffic, no control of car function other than park and drive. Call around dealerships, they either didn't have the part, reschedule me time after time, then I had to wait. Now car is not working

The contact stated that while attempting to lock the front driver’s side door, the digital code buttons on the door were flashing however, the door would not lock securely. Electrical system failure on multiple components. Upon start entertainment system (radio, nav, etc.) is inoperable, A/C does not function, windows will not roll down. Has happened on multiple occasions.

This car will randomly shut off while driving at any speed on hot days. The display will say "Transmission not in Park" then the instrument cluster will go dark and the engine shuts off. There is no check engine light and there are no ODB codes presented. I have to wait some amount of time, which varies, before it will turn on again. It has also not turned on from sitting for more than eight hours on two hot days. This is very much a safety issue and searching the Internet I find it is not uncommon with Ford Fusion and Escape vehicles with no discernible solution being presented. My car has approximately 97,000 miles on it. For the last 6 months, I've been getting alerts on my dashboard ("Service Advance Trak", "Hill Start Not Available", and one or two others). This happens at slow speeds and fast also when turning. When these alerts start, I lose power steering. I've also noticed that when I apply brakes at slow speeds, the ABS engages for a few seconds. I was told by the dealer that I needed a new battery but that was not the issue. I was driving with my kids in the car and it happen mid driving on the highway. I almost got into a serious accident but was able to gain control in enough time to steer out the way. At approximately 80,000 miles, the abs censor came on, along with three other lights, one of which is traction control. The brakes begin acting out of control and power steering goes out. Mechanic came to look at it and told me that he’s seen a lot of the same problems with Ford vehicles, specifically fusions and fiestas. He told me it’s an ABS sensor in the electrical harness.

multiple warning lights come off and on while driving. When they come on steering becomes difficult. no one can determine the cause. there have bene multiple reports by others with this same make/model of happening to them and no mechanics nor dealership have been able to identify the cause

I have received a message on my dashboard regarding 1. Engine Coolant Over Temperature 2. Power Reduced to Lower Engine Temperature. I have taken the car to a repair shop Thursday and Friday. I believe car is a lemon. Have had the vehicle for only 17 days. I can’t keep calling off work due to non operational vehicle. Randomly and without warning, the entire climate control system shuts off as well as the entire center console. The only message during this period is "temporarily lost communication with climate control". When all this shuts off, the drivers side controls for the windows becomes inoperative as well as the passenger side lock/unlock button. This renders a safety hazard because during times of heat and cold it becomes impossible to run the climate control or roll the windows down for any air movement. Also an extreme hazard is the passenger is unable to unlock the doors in even of an emergency. Occasionally when this happens, the air bag light will illuminate, causing unknown safety hazards in that aspect. Battery dies suddenly. No crank no start.

I just bought a new Battery. And I keep getting no crank no start. Rear suspension keeps squeaking as if it's not lubricated.

Dashboard shows "temporarily lost connection with climate system". When displayed, the air conditioning system (cold or heat) works. Other functions on dash board are also unavailable. Windows or door locks do not work. Considerable safety concern for all but especially a vehicle transporting young children and/or infants. Summer heats rise to unbearable to dangerous to deadly if not addressed. Ford apparently has no fix but the issue is well documented amongst Ford owners. Unsure why this isn't a recall option given the nature and number of concerns. any help at all would be appreciated. While I provide today's date that it occurred, i share the problem has been ongoing for several years. It is on and off with the only consistent indication being when it is hot outside.

TRUNK RANDOMLY OPENS ON ITS OWN. OPENS CONSTANTLY THROUGHOUT DAY EVEN WHEN DRIVING DOWN ROAD. THINGS HAVE BLOWN OUT OF TRUNK WHILE DRIVING AND HAVE CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO PULL OVER ON SIDE OF ROAD AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE ACCIDENTS.

MY VEHICLE'S BATTERY DRAINED OUT BECAUSE WE HADN'T BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE MUCH DUE TO COVID STAY-HOME ORDERS IN MICHIGAN AND STAYING AT HOME OVER THE HOLIDAYS. WE ROLLED IT OUT OF THE GARAGE AND JUMP STARTED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY, THEN LET IT RUN FOR AN HOUR TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY RATHER THAN DRIVING IT BECAUSE OUR POWER STEERING AND ADVANCE TRAC WERE SHOWING FAULT MESSAGES AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE MESSAGES DIDN'T GO AWAY AFTER WE TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT. WE EVEN LEFT IT OVERNIGHT AND TRIED THE NEXT MORNING. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE AS THE CAR'S BLUETOOTH WOULDN'T PAIR TO MY CELL PHONE. THE ISSUE BEGAN ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE APIM MODULE NEEDS REPLACING. THE MODULE IS IMPORTANT FOR HANDS FREE COMMUNICATION WHILE DRIVING.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY DASH INFORMED ME THAT MY POWER STEERING MODULE FAILED, AND I HAD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHO MISDIAGNOSED IT AS A BATTERY ISSUE. AFTER GETTING A NEW BATTERY THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. I NOW HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE POWER STEERING WHICH WILL COST ME 3K.

WHEN GETTING READY TO PARK THE CAR THE CAR SAYS IT'S IT NUETRAL BUT IT'S ACTUALLY I BELIEVE IN PARK. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK AND IT WAS MOVING BACKWARDS. I PUT THE PARKING BREAK ON THE CAR SO IT IS STATIONARY.
