Over the course of 3 weeks I started to notice a strong smell of gasoline after filling my fuel tank that lasted for about the first quarter of the tank. I did look around the car and under it to see if I could observe a leak, but saw nothing upon visual inspection. After about 3 weeks I observed a very strong smell of gasoline when I walked out to the car in the morning and observed gasoline on the rim of the passenger side tire as well as on the ground by the tire. At that point I looked up recalls on the 2015 fusion and did find one on the fuel system but was advised that it is not active on my vin. I took my car to a local shop where they found that both fuel senders were wet and leaking thus causing the fuel leak.
My vehicle will not turn on after refueling, but there are no signs of visible damage. The check engine light remains illuminated, and the code read for the O2 sensors. The RPM jump up and down at the slightest push of the accelerator, and occasionally the engine will shut off when RPM drops to idle speed.
After fueling in the car up i drive it and it stalls out while driving
Previously, about 5-6 times the car experienced sputtering and then stalling shortly after a warm engine restart. After 2 tries, the car would continue running. No check engine. No codes stored. Final time (before a scheduled shop visit) it stalled on a busy 4-lane road at rush hour and would not restart. Wife managed to manuever into the middle turn lane. Would not restart. Car displayed (unhelpfully) to check the owners manual. Towed to Firestone who found bad spark plugs (in particular cylinder 3) showing coolant leakage. Firestone seemed to be aware of the systemic issues (said replacing plugs was not solving the root problem, but they don't do engine replacements. Estimated that the car might run correctly for maybe a year. Car stalled again 3 days later). Coolant level was low. My experience seems similar to many others (ie., 2013-19 engine coolant leak). Car at dealership.
In July 2021 I had the CPV replaced because the purge valve was stuck open. Now, less than 2 years later, 45,000 miles later, I am once again having the same issue. Code P1450. Unable to bleed up fuel tank. Just like last time. My vehicle check engine light is on and after I get gas my car starts sputters and does not want to start.
I am not sure what part or components, but I am experiencing a smell of some kind that is making me sick. As in, nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, headaches and migraines. This only happens when I am in the vehicle and only at certain times throughout the day. I've been vacationing for several months now and this is a reoccurring problem. When I am driving the smell is trying to put me to sleep and I have to pullover on the interstate to sleep and I have been putting the windows down to try to stop the reactions I am having. But, the smell continues even when the engine is not running. That is the best way I can explain the experience that I am having. Thank you so much and have an absolutely amazing day.
Coolant leak into the cylinders. Car overheating due to low coolant.
As I was driving, it felt as if my car had turned off or had no fuel, but no engine lights came on and i had fuel in my tank. Also all my electrical stuff stayed on, only lost power on the accelerator. My safety and others safety was put at risk because there were no warning signs i just had no "Go power" and no one around me knew my car had no power which could lead to an accident, serious injury or death; if on highway traveling at high speeds and it randomly dies. I took my car to a mechanic and they stated everything was perfectly fine they did a full diagnostic and the computer didn't show any errors in operation. THE CAR IS BURPING IN THE GAS CAP. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO START AFTER FUELING. AND WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. CODE P1450 $07E8PD & P1450 $07E8. I CLEAR THE CODE AND IN A DAY.OR SO IT COMES BACK ON. THIS STARTED AROUND 78K MILES. I HAVE 79201. ON MY CAR. PLASTING A TIGHT PLASTIC WRAP OVER THE TANK REDUCES BURPING AND RANDOM SHUT OFF.. THIS IA A MAJOR REPAIR FOR A CAR WITH THIS MILEAGE LOCAL NON INTERSTATE MILES. THAT HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR. THIS SEEMS TO BECA COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE FUSION BASED ON INTERNET SEARCH.
FUEL SYSTEM LOSES PRESSURE SOMETIMES AND THE CAR CUTS OFF COMPLETELY, SOMETIMES AT HIGH SPEEDS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THAT TRANSMISSION ALSO SHIFTS ERRATICALLY SOMETIMES WHICH IS ALSO DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF I NEED TO ACCELERATE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, IT WONT SHIFT CORRECTLY AND MAKES IT MORE DIFFICULT TO DO SO.

THE AFFECTED VEHICLE IS A 2015 FORD FUSION ENERGI WITH 80,350 MILES. VIN: 3FA6P0SU1FR I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM KELLER FORD IN HANFORD CALIFORNIA ON 11JAN2021, AT 79,902 MILES. ON MY WAY TO WORK WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, SYMPTOMS STARTED WITH A HIGH PITCH NOISE, FOLLOWED BY, A BURNING SMELL, MOTOR OVER TEMP WARNING, AND FINALLY A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER AND A "PULL OVER SAFELY" WARNING. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING MORNING TO BE WORKED ON, WHERE THEY FOUND THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY TO BE THE AFFECTED ISSUE. ON 10/24/2019 MY SON TOOK MY CAR TO THE GRAYCO FORD OF DELRAY BEACH FOR RECALLS. ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON,THEY WANTED $TO FIND OUT Y THE LIGHT WAS ON. WHEN GETTING READY TO PARK THE CAR THE CAR SAYS IT'S IT NUETRAL BUT IT'S ACTUALLY I BELIEVE IN PARK. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK AND IT WAS MOVING BACKWARDS. I PUT THE PARKING BREAK ON THE CAR SO IT IS STATIONARY.
THE RPMS REV AND SHIFTING HESITATES. WAS AT A STOP LIGHT, WENT TO DRIVE OFF FROM LIGHT AND IT STALLED IN INTERSECTION AS IT WAS STUCK IN GEAR AND FINALLY WENT INTO GEAR. IT SLOW, HARD SHIFTS AT USUAL TIMES. THE STALLING HAPPENS OUT OF THE BLUE. I DO NOT GO FAR BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT FROM IT STALLING IN GEAR! THIS IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE WITH THE DIRECT FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM (GDI). THE HIGH PRESSURE PUMP IS GROUND INTO THE TOP OF THE CAMSHAFT CAM AND CAUSING FUEL RAIL FAILURE, ENGINE CODES P0087 & P219A. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPAIRED THIS ONCE UNDER WARRANTY. FORD REFUSES TO REPAIR AGAIN, SINCE MY WARRANTY EXPIRED WHILE WE WERE IN STATE LOCKDOWN ORDER. THIS GDI DIRECT FUEL INJECTION VS. MULTI-PORT INJECTION WAS RUSHED TO MARKET TO MEET THE NEW FUEL ECONOMY MANDATES SET BY CONGRESS AND IT HAS FAILED ON THIS VEHICLE 3 TIMES NOW, CAUSING SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. FMC WONT REPAIR AGAIN EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW OF THIS SYSTEMIC ISSUE. I AM ATTACHING A COPY OF THE DIAGNOSTICS FROM FORD WITH THE EXTENSIVE REPAIR/PARTS LIST. STALLS OR WON'T START AFTER FILLING GAS TANK. SOMETIMES IT TAKES 5 TO 10 .MINUTES TO START. HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN I WAS AT A INTERSECTION AND TRIED TO PULL OUT. GETS P1450 ERROR CODE..
MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SO I WENT TO 2 DIFFERENT COMPANIES AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. I REPLACED THE COILS AND PLUGS. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN SO I TOOK IT TO FORD. THERE THEY TOLD ME COOLANT WAS GETTING INTO MY CYLINDERS. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD COST $6,731 TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR AND MULTIPLE DIFFERENT YEARS ARE HAVING. THE CAR STILL MOVES BUT NOW IT'S OVERHEATING EVERY 3 MINUTES.
SEVERAL TIMES TODAY MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE DASH DISPLAY SAID "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK" FOR A SECOND OR TWO AND THEN THE MOTOR SHUT OFF - NO LIGHTS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR CODES. ONE TIME WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEED, THE SECOND TIME WAS DRIVING SLOWLY ON A NEIGHBORHOOD ROAD. THE ENGINE WILL NOT START AFTER IT STOPS - I HAVE TWO WAIT 15 MINUTES SOMETIMES. WHEN I TRY TO START THE ENGINE THERE ARE NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH - BATTERY CHECKED GOOD, 100% CHARGE. SINCE THIS SEEMS TO OCCUR WHILE DRIVING THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND MOST OWNERS ON THE INTERNET SAY THAT FORD NEVER "FINDS A PROBLEM."

ON 10/7/2019 I BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO FORT MILL FORD (SC) FOR A TIRE CHANGE AND REGULAR SERVICE. WHEN I CAME TO PICK IT UP ON 10/10/2019, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. UPON ADVISING MY TECH BRITTANY OF THE ISSUE, THEY SENT OUT A TECH TO JUMP START THE CAR THAT WAS JUST SERVICED. WHEN THE CAR WAS JUMP STARTED, AN ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS AT 62000 MILES. I WENT BACK TO MY ADVISER BRITTANY AGAIN AND SHE STATED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT AND THAT FORD ACTIVATES THOSE WHEN SEASONS CHANGE AND IS PART OF THEIR SOFTWARE. SHE INSISTED THAT EVERYTHING WAS OK WITH THE CAR AND REFERENCED THE INSPECTION LIST I WAS GIVEN FOR MY 2015 FORD FUSION SE. NOT THREE WEEKS LATER, THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT FROM BEING CONSTANTLY ON, TO FLASHING. THIS ALSO CAUSED AN INTENSE...

JENKINS & WYNNE FORD, HONDA, & LINCOLN (2655 TRENTON RD, CLARKSVILLE, TN 37040, (931) 542-4886) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED THE SAME INFORMATION AS THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000.

STARTED CAR, GOT DASHBOARD LIGHT ON 7.6.19 MILEAGE 27721. CAR RUNNING ROUGH, ABOUT TO STALL,ETC. ERROR CODE P0302. CYL.#2 IGNITION COIL REPLACED. THEN, 2 WEEKS LATER GOT DASHBOARD LIGHT AGAIN, SAME CODE P0302. MECHANIC (PRIVATE)REPLACED PERCEIVED FAULTY IGNITION COIL AS PREVIOUS. ON 9.23 .19 CAR STARTED,. CAR RUNS ROUGH, ALMOST STALLS DASHBOARD LIGHTS AGAIN. THIS TIME WE TAKE IT TO ROYAL OAK FORD SERVICE DEPT. THEY GET P0302 AND ADVISE US TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS. $307.29 CHARGE. UPON INSPECTION OF SPARK PLUGS I NOTE ALL PLUGS ARE HEAVILY COATED IN CARBON. I CHECK THE TAILPIPE AND THE INSIDE IS ALSO HEAVILY CARBON COATED. SHORTLY AFTER I FIND INFORMATION THAT MOST DIRECT INJECT ENGINES HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IT WAS NOT HARD INFO TO FIND. BECAUSE OF DIRECT INJECTION THE VALVES DO NOT RECEIVE THE BENEFIT OF DETERGENT GASOLINES AND BECOME HEAVILY COATED IN CARBON. THIS IS AN OVERSIMPLIFIED EXPLANATION OF WHAT...

EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE GAS TANK AND I ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR, THE CAR RUNS ROUGH AND STALLS. IT TAKES TWO OR THREE TIME OF TRYING TO START THE CAR BEFORE IT WILL START. IT WILL RUN ROUGH FOR A WHILE BE IT STARTS RUNNING NORMAL.
MY VEHICLE STALLS AFTER FUELING AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING. IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH MANY FORD FUSIONS. WHILE DRIVING, THE CAP LESS GAS FILLER WILL START VIBRATING AND RELIEVING PRESSURE FROM THE FUEL SYSTEM. THIS IS CAUSING THE CAR TO ACT LIKE IT IS MISFIRING AND RUN ROUGH. BEFORE I HAVE TIME TO PULL OFF THE BUSY CITY STREET THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF AND I'M LEFT SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD TRYING TO GET THE CAR STARTED AND MOVED TO A SAFE LOCATION. OCCASIONALLY THE CAR WILL THROW A 1450, 2196, OR 0131 CODE. THE MAIN CODE IS 1450 WHICH IS AN EVAP CODE. I'VE REPLACED THE CANISTER AND WILL BE REPLACING THE PURGE VALVE SOON. THESE VALVES NEED TO BE LOOKED AT BECAUSE THEY CAN MALFUNCTION WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND POSE A SAFETY HAZARD.
AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO START, PUMPING THE ACCELERATOR HELPS BUT THE ENGINE WILL STALL SUDDENLY WITHIN A FEW MILES OF THE FILL UP. ON TWO OCCASIONS I HAVE LOST POWER WHEN DRIVING ON A MAJOR STREET WITH 1/4-1/2 TANK OF FUEL. THIS STALL IS PRECEEDED BY A LOUD, DISONATE NOISE FROM THE FUEL FILLER. THERE IS WWW INFORMATION REGARDING FAILED PURGE VALVES, BUT MOST INFORMATION IS FOR EARLIER MODELS. THE FOCUS RECALL SEEMS IDENTICAL. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CAUTION TO STAY OFF THE ROAD AFTER FUELING TILL THE ENGINE IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY. CODES CHECKED WITH ONLY ONE READING COMING UP -A YEAR AGO.

CAR WOULD RESTART AFTER HARD CRANKING AFTER MOVING GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK. THIS WOULD TAKE PLACE AT STOP LIGHTS, IN THE DRIVEWAY AND ON THE STREET WHILE IN TRAFFIC. DEALER REPLACED THROTTLE BODY (PART # DS7Z 9E926C) AFTER VERIFYING CODE FROM ELECTRONIC ANALYSIS.

TAKATA RECALL I CURRENTLY OWN A 2015 FORD FUSION SE 2.0L TURBO AS THE MILEAGE HAS INCREASED I HAVE BECOME AWARE OF A PROBLEM WITH THE PURGE VALE, AS I HAVE HAVING TROUBLING STARTING MY CAR AFTER I PUT GAS IN IT ALONG WITH STALLING. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I CAME UPON ARTICLES OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME MODEL CAR WITH THE SAME PURGE VALVE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE CAR THAT HAS DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARDS

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE INDICATES CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. OIL CHANGED ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS. CAR IS DRIVEN LESS THAN 100 MILES PER MONTH. INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY. CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD.
AWHILE BACK THE CAR STARTED MAKING STRANGE NOISES, THAT CAME FROM THE FUEL INLET BEHIND THE GAS DOOR, SOUNDING LIKE PRESSURE ESCAPING. PRESSING THE DOOR IN (CAPLESS FUEL TANK) CONFIRMS THIS, AS THE VACUUM IS RELEASED. CAR IDLES ROUGH, AND IN SOME CASES, AFTER REFUELING, IT WILL IMMEDIATELY STALL. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO QUITE A FEW FUSION OWNERS, WITH VIDEOS AND FORUMS POSTS TO VERIFY. FORD CLAIMS TO NOT KNOW OF THE ISSUE, BUT JUST TODAY ISSUED A RECALL FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM FOR THE FOCUS MODEL CARS. IT IS THE 2.0L TURBO OR NATURALLY ASPIRATED ENGINES, AND I HAVE THE 2.0L TURBO. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTS OF CARS STALLING WHILE IN MOTION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TODAY, WITH A P1450 CODE.
THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN MULTIPLE TIMES FOR LOSS OF POWER AND ENGINE CUTTING OUT DURING ACCELERATION. IT HAS BECOME DANGEROUS. THIS IS THE ECOBOOST ENGINE. FORD IS NOT TELLING ALL ABOUT THE DANGERS OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN KILLED SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO ACCELERATE INTO THE ROADWAY.

I DID GET THE DIAGNOSTICS DONE ON THE VEHICLE, TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE AND HE EXPLAINED ME SOMETHING ABOUT THE PRESSURE WHICH I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND. WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE THE ENGINE MISFIRES DECREASE IN POWER AND COMPLETELY STOPS ACCELERATION. IT ALSO USES A GREAT DEAL OF FUEL. IN OCTOBER 2017 MY FUSION STALLED OUT FOUR TIMES (THREE VARIOUS DAYS AND ONE DAY 15 MINUTES BETWEEN STALLS) AND AGAIN ON NOVEMBER 4TH. WHILE DRIVING, MY VEHICLE OVERHEATED. CHECKED COOLANT LEVEL, AND IT WAS LESS THAN HALF FULL. I REFILLED COOLANT TO RECOMMENDED LEVEL, AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE. TWO WEEKS LATER, IT OVERHEATED AGAIN, AND MY COOLANT WAS LOW AGAIN. REFILLED AND MONITORED FOR LEAKS. NO LEAKS. THEN VEHICLE BEGAN MISFIRING. DIAGNOSED WITH CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. REPLACED SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS. STILL MISFIRING. REDIAGNOSED WITH CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. THEN IT JUST DIED. WOULD NOT START. ACTED AS THOUGH IT WAS FLOODING. DIAGNOSED WITH NO ADDITIONAL ISSUES BY DEALERSHIP. THEN DISCOVERED TSB FOR A BOLT THAT WAS BACKING OUT OF THE INTERCOOLER AND INTO THE MANIFOLD. THIS ISSUE WAS ALLOWING COOLANT TO FLOOD THE MANIFOLD AND CAUSE MISFIRING. GOT THAT FIXED AS WELL AS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND TURBO UNIT FOR THE CAR WHICH WERE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE COOLANT ISSUE. $5,000 IN REPAIRS FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT COULD HAVE...
CAR STALLS AFTER STARTING. WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A PARKED POSITION CAR WILL HESITATE SHUDDER AND ACCELERATOR WILL NOT WORK. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER SITTING SEVERAL MINUTES THE CAR WILL RESTART AND RUN NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THE CAR IS PARKED AND SHUT OFF.
