MY VEHICLE'S MAKE/MODEL/YEAR (2016 FORD FOCUS) HAS A REPORTED RECALL FOR A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD INVOLVING THE POWERSHIFT DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. ONLINE, IT STATES THAT MODEL YEARS 2012-2016 FORD FOCUS VEHICLES HAVE THIS ISSUE. THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION IS CONSIDERED A MANUAL TRANSMISSION THAT IS CONTROLLED ELECTRONICALLY BY A COMPUTER WHILE USING A DRY CLUTCH RATHER THAN A WET ONE, MEANING OIL IS NOT SUPPLIED TO THE SHIFTING MECHANISM AND CAN RESULT IN INCREASED WEAR AND TEAR THE LONGER THE ISSUE PERSISTS. WHEN THE COMPUTER MODULE THAT OPERATES THE TRANSMISSION CAN'T HANDLE RAPID ACCELERATION OR SPEED SHIFTING, THE VEHICLE WILL SPUTTER AND MAKE AN AUDIBLE NOISE. OTHER ISSUES THAT CAN BE CAUSED ARE PROBLEMS WITH DOWNSHIFTING, LEAVING THE VEHICLE IN A HIGHER GEAR DESPITE DECELERATION AND CAUSE IT TO "LURCH". MOTOR MOUNT & TRANSMISSION. WHEN CRANKING CAR THE RPM VERVES TO 300-400 RPMS AND STAYS UNTIL YOU PICK THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN ACCELERATING THE GAS THE CAR JERKS BEFORE TAKING OFF TO CHANGE GEARS.
BACK IN MARCH 2020 I BEGIN TO HAVE TRANSMISSION ISSUES SO I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND WITH THAT BEING SAID THE MECHANIC PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT THEY HAD TO REBUILD A CLUTCH IN MY TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE COST OF THE FIX WAS GOING TO BE $2600 I BEGAN TO TELL THE MECHANIC THAT I DID NOT HAVE THAT TYPE OF MONEY AND THAT I WILL COME GET MY VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE I WAS AT WORK SO THE NEXT DAY WHILE I WAS AT WORK I GET A PHONE CALL FROM THE MECHANIC AT THAT FORD DEALERSHIP AND HE TELLS ME THAT MY CAR IS READY TO BE PICKED UP AND THAT THE ISSUE WAS FIXED I BEGAN TO REPEAT MYSELF TO THE MECHANIC THAT I DID NOT WANT TO PROCEED WITH THE SIX OF MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE THE...
CAR STARTED TRYING TO SHUT OFF RANDOMLY AND ACCELERATED AND DECELERATED, THEN CAR WOULDN'T START WAS TOLD THE CLUTCH WAS STUCK SOUNDS LIKE A RECALL I SAW ONLINE.
THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT GEARS NO REVERSE AND WHEN IT FINALLY DID GO INTO DRIVE ONLY 11 MPH
A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THE CLUTCH IS CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO SLIP WHEN SWITCHING GEARS. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS DEFECT AND YET DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL/EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR ALL OF THE TRANSMISSIONS AFFECTED, ONLY SOME. IT'S A $1500-$2000 REPAIR AND IT'S RIDICULOUS THAT WE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR FAULTY MACHINERY.
VEHICLE SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO THE FREEWAY, PUTTING ME AT RISK OF BEING REAR ENDED. I TOOK MY FORD FOCUS IN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY CLUTCH HAD FAILED, BUT THAT IT ALSO HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPLACED JUST 2.5 YEARS PRIOR. MY CAR IS A 2016 WITH UNDER 70,000 MILES. I WAS INFORMED OF A LAWSUIT INVOLVING THE TRANSMISSION IN THE FORD FOCUS FOR THE YEAR OF MY VEHICLE, BUT WAS THEN ADVISED THAT MY TRANSMISSION IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE SETTLEMENT AND REPLACEMENT. I HAVE KEPT UP ON REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE. THE CLUTCH SHOULD NOT FAIL TWICE WITHIN 3 YEARS.
MY 2016 FORD FOCUS HAS A SHUTTER COMING FROM THE DUAL CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHEN I START FROM A STOP.

THE CONTACT PULLED INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE OR ANY OTHER GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FOUR SEASONS FORD (601 DUNCAN HILL RD, HENDERSONVILLE, NC 28792; (828) 693-4281) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CLUTCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRANSMISSION MODULE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPLACED, AS WELL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
CAR WOULD NOT START, BATTERY TESTED FINE. THE CAR GAVE A MSG OF TRANSMISSION FAULT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. AFTER THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY RAN TEST NOT FINDING ANYTHING WRONG. I BOUGHT A 2016 FORD FOCUS IN OCTOBER OF 2017 IT JUST STOPPED RUNNING ABOUT A MONTH AGO I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS "DONE" I AM SEVERLY CONFUSED I HAVE KEPT UP ON ALL OIL CHANGES FOR 3 YEARS I STARTED EXPERIENCING SOME ENGINE MISSES I HAVE DONE THE RESEARCH AND I KNOW THAT THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE I STILL OWE ON THIS CAR , II CANT GET ANYONE FROM FORD TO COMMUNICATE WITH ME TO FIX THIS ISSUE THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH 90,000 MILES I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 60,000 MILES I AM SEEKING HELP TO FIX A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SEVERE BRUISES FROM THE SEAT BELT, ARM NECK, BACK INJURIES AND HAD TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FRONT PASSENGER ALSO SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES AND WOULD SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAINED INJURIES, THE CONTACT MENTION THAT THE DRIVER DECLINED MEDICAL TREATMENT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED....

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO CORRECTLY SHIFT BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEARS, CAUSING THE RPMS TO INCREASE. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO IMMEDIATELY RESPOND WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER PRESTON FORD LOCATED AT 1300 E STATE ST, SHARON, PA 16146, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACTED INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED FOR THE SAME FAILURE AND THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET AND THE CAR STALLED ON THE ROAD AND I HAD TO COAST ONTO A SAFE SPOT.THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON FOR OVER AN HOUR THEN IT STALLED ONCE MORE AND WOULD NOT TURN ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT IT CONTINUES TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. WE CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM.
THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER HALF A TANK PF FUEL AND BEGAM TO SPUTTER AND JOLT AMD DIES. IT STARTED BUT CRANKED LONG AND HARD. THIS HAPPENS WHENEVER THE FUEL IS AT HALF OR BELOW. I SEARCHED MY VIN IT SAYS THE FUEL RSCALL ISN'T A ISSUE BIT ITS DOING EXACTLY THAT.

WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT ROUGHLY 80 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE. CAR WILL STILL START BUT IS NOT DRIVABLE AND ENGINE HAS NO OIL PRESSURE AND MECHANIC SAID IT DOWNSHIFTED TO 4TH GEAR AT 83 MPH. CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY AND HAS GIVEN NO INDICATION OF ENGINE PROBLEMS. WAS QUOTED $4500 AT FIRST FORD DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR CAR WITH A USED MOTOR WITH EQUAL MILEAGE. 2ND FORD DEALERSHIP QUOTED $3700 WITH REBUILT MOTOR. HAS BEEN LOOKED OVER BY 2 MECHANICS INCLUDING FORDS AND OTHER THAN READING DIAGNOSTICS NOBODY CAN PROVIDE A REASON THE OIL PRESSURE DROPPED OR WHY THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED INTO 4TH GEAR UPING THE RPM'S CAUSING ENGINE PROBLEMS. VEHICLE SPUTTERS ON TAKE OFF FROM STOP OR A SLOW DOWN BACK TO TAKE OFF. HAS HAD TRANSMISSION CLUTCH REPLACED AS WELL AS SPARK PLUGS, FUEL INJECTORS CLEANED, BATTERY, ALTERNATOR. FORD SAYS IT'S HOW THEIR TRANSMISSIONS WORK BUT IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE MANY WRECKS. NOW THAT I AM PAST THEIR 'WARRANTY' PERIOD THEY WON'T EVEN LOOK AT IT WITHOUT CHARGING ME EVEN WITH THE SAME ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR.

CALLED DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND WAS TOLD IT'S HOW THE CAR DRIVES. TIME GOES ON AND THE PROBLEM GETS WORSE. I BRING IT INTO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL ME MY CLUTCH IS CHANGING AT 500RPM AS OPPOSED TO 250 RPM. MY MILEAGE WAS 60,200 WHEN I ARRIVED. THEY TOLD ME THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS COST EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM STARTED WELL BEFORE THE WARRANTY. ESTIMATED REPAIR IS $2,400 ON A CAR I OWE $9,000 ON. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE.

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AFTER 5 MINUTES AND RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MOORESVILLE FORD (151 E PLAZA DR, MOORESVILLE, NC 28115) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,000.
SHAFFER FORD -I WAS TOLD THEY FIXED THE RECALL ON MY FORD FOCUS, I DONT THINK THEY DID.
I HAVE BEEN 3 TIMES IN FORD BY PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH, THE LAST TIME THEY SAID THAT THE INSURE DON'T PAY ANY MORE AND I NEED TO PAY TO FIX IT BY 2350$. IF I FIXED IT BEFORE, WITCH ONE WILL BE THE GUARANTEED, BECAUSE THEY GAVE ME THE LAST TIME BUT THEY DON'T WANT TO COVER NOW, YOU CAN FEEL THAT THE CAR LOST POWER, THIS SLIP INSIDE THE TRANSMITION

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE NORTHGATE FORD (8940 COLERAIN AVE, CINCINNATI, OH 45251), AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY FOR THE REPAIR OF THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH AND HE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,552.
THE AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE 2011 TO 2016 FIESTAS AND 2012 TO 2016 FOCUS MODELS. THE POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION IS A SIX-SPEED DUAL-CLUTCH AUTOMATIC, AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE GEARBOX INCLUDE STUMBLING, SHUDDERING, ROUGH SHIFTS, HESITATION, AND PREMATURE WEAR.MAR 6, 2020 DOES THIS APPLY TOWARDS MY CAR MAKE & MODEL????

IT WAS REPLACED WITH A FACTORY REFURBISHED TRANSMISSION. THIS TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 66,000 MILES, LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AFTER REPAIR. THIS TIME IT WAS JUST GRINDING IN 4TH GEAR. BOTH OF THESE OCCASIONS OCCURRED DURING DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MPH AND NORMAL SHIFTING, IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION DURING BOTH OF THESE
VEHICLE MANUFACTURED 06/2016. VEHICLE HAS SHUTTERED WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SINCE PURCHASE IN FALL 2016. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THIS AND THEY INFORMED ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT, IT IS JUST THE WAY THE 2016 FORD FOCUS IS BUILT. ON 31 AUGUST 2020 THE VEHICLE WAS OFF IN A PARKING SPOT. WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, TO BACK OUT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS CAME ON. WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR READS R AND THE BACK UP CAMERA ACTIVATES BUT THE TIRES DO NOT SPIN AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE. TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE I HAVE TO PUSH THE VEHICLE OUT. I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE APPROX 30 MILES SINCE THIS HAPPENED AND THE SHUTTERING IS MUCH WORSE THAN BEFORE....

WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND START TO DRIVE TO CAR STARTS TO SHUTTER, EVERY TIME! UNTIL YOU ARE ABLE TO REACH AROUND 50 MILES PER HOUR, THEN IT WILL STOP. IT FEELS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS COMING OUT. THIS CAR HAS DONE THIS SINCE WE PURCHASED IT IN 2018. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP 3 X'S A EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
I HAD A RECALL REPLACED ON 9/18/2018 FOR THE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. SHORTLY AFTER IT WAS REPLACED MY CAR WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I HAD THIS PART RETESTED AND AGAIN IT DID INDEED FAIL THE TEST AND THE CLUTCH IS NOT PROPERLY WORKING. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS ISSUE TENDS TO HAPPEN ON FORDS ABOUT 45,000 MILES. IVE ALREADY HAD THIS PART REPLACED AND DONT QUALIFY UNDER THE NEW RECALL ON THE SAME PART. ANYTIME I INCREASE IN SPEED MY WHOLE FRONT END SHAKES AND JOLTS. IVE PAID ATTENTION TO HOW IT WILL DO THIS IN GEARS1-2 ONCE IT HITS JUST OVER THREE IT EVENS OUT.

AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AT CONTACTING MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEY SEEM TO BELIEVE IT IS THE HEAD GASKET WITH A DEFECT. THIS SMOKE IS ONLY NOTICEABLE WHEN IDLING. ALSO I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF SMOKE TO DEVELOP WHEN PUTTING THE AIR CONDITIONING ON FULL BLAST.

I OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE MARCH 25, 2016. I'VE HAD TO TAKE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS ON TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I WOULD ALWAYS BE AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE CAR WOULD WOULD SHUDDER WHEN I START TO MOVE.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE CODES WERE P1450 AND PO456 WHICH ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE SAFETY RECALL OF THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE. THE FUEL TANK IS ALSO DEFORMED. MY CARS VIN IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL SO THEY WILL NOT COVER IT AND I AM EXPECTED TO COVER IT. MY CAR ALSO HAS VIBRATION AT IDLE AND HAS CLUTCH SHUDDER OVER 250 RPM. FORD FIXED MY TRANSMISSION MODULE IN 2018 WITH A PREVIOUS RECALL AFTER IT STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. NOW I AM HAVING ISSUES AGAIN. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THEY UPDATED THE TRANSMISSION MODULE IN 2018 BUT THE CUSTOMER CARE AGENT TRIED TO TELL ME THEY REPLACED THE PARTS ENTIRELY IN 2018 AND NOT JUST UPDATED. I NOTIFIED HER OF THE SERVICE ADVISORS STATEMENT AND THEN SHE WENT BACK TO SAYING MY VIN WASN'T PART OF AN OPEN RECALL....
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS CAR GETS A P0299 FAILURE. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY, TRYING TO SPEED UP, WHEN THE ENGINE REVVED UP QUICKLY, BUT DID NOT CHANGE GEAR. INSTEAD, THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN. CAR BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND JERK WHEN IN MOTION. SUDDENLY AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF FOR ONLY A COUPLE MINUTES IT WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. QUOTING ME $3,900 AT THE VERY LEAST FOR REPAIRS IN A CAR WITH JUST 70,000 MILES AND THAT I'VE BARELY HAD TWO YEARS.
