AFTER A BUMP IN THE HIGHWAY SUCH AS A POT-HOLE OR BRIDGE APPROACH, MY 2017 F250 WILL SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY AT SPEEDS ANYWHERE FROM 60-75 MPH. THIS STARTED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING IT BRAND NEW IN 2017. RECENTLY MY WIFE HAD EXPERIENCE THIS TO THE POINT WHERE SHE WAS SHAKEN OFF THE ROADWAY AND TONIGHT I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD FOCUS ON THE ROAD, THAT'S HOW BAD IT WAS SHAKING!!! I TOOK APPROXIMATELY 3/4 MI BEFORE I COULD GET IT UNDER CONTROL. MIND YOU THIS HAPPENED OVER FOUR DIFFERENT BRIDGES. ONE BEING A 150' DROP TO THE RIVER BELOW. . I'M FINALLY AT MY BREAKING POINT WITH THIS TRUCK. I HAVE NEVER ONCE HAD A BAD THOUGHT OVER THE LAST 17 YEARS OF DRIVING FORDS TRUCK BUT THIS ONE BROKE ME. I HAVE KEPT THIS TRUCK STOCK FROM THE WHEELS, TIRES, AND SUSPENSION. I DON'T UNDERSTOOD HOW...
WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE I-84, I EXPERIENCED A WOBBLE AND STEERING ISSUE THAT THREW MY VEHICLE FROM THE RIGHT LANE INTO THE LEFT LANE. FORTUNATELY NOBODY WAS IN THE LEFT LANE. I WAS TRAVELLING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH AND HIT SOME UNEVEN PAVEMENT AND SMALL POT HOLES. MY EXPERIENCE WAS VERY SCARY AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. MY RESEARCH OF THE SYMPTOMS CLOSELY MATCHES THE DEATH WOBBLE. THIS IS VERY DISTURBING. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR AN ALIGNMENT. HOWEVER, FURTHER RESEARCH SHOW THAT THESE ALIGNMENTS CAN MAKE THINGS WORSE. I STRONGLY URGE THAT THIS ISSUE BE INVESTIGATED ACROSS THE COUNTRY. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO DIE AS A RESULT OF THIS ISSUE.
FORD F-250 XLT CREW CAB 4X4 6'6" BOX - COMPLETELY STOCK TRUCK. STOCK WHEELS, STOCK TIRES, 38K MILES, TIRES AT 7/32 TREAD. TRUCK EXPERIENCES "DEATH WOBBLE" - VIOLENT SHAKING OF VEHICLE DUE TO OSCILLATIONS IN FRONT AXLE/STEERING SYSTEM/TIRES. MASSIVE SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE BECOMES UN-CONTROLLABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH THIS ISSUE HAPPENS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD F-250. WHILE DRIVING HIGH SPEEDS, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE VIBRATED VIOLENTLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THREE DIFFERENT UNKNOWN DEALERS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEELS NEEDED TO BE BALANCED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
AT ABOUT 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY AND DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE I EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SHAKING IN THE FRONT END WHICH ALMOST SENT ME OFF OF THE ROAD. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT WAS TO SLOW DOWN RATHER QUICKLY AND REGAIN CONTROL. THE MORE I RESEARCH I FOUND IT IS NAMED "DEATH WOBBLE". IT IS A VERY RANDOM AND DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I NOW HAVE A $46,000 TRUCK THAT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO TRUST IN AND WILL NOT LET MY WIFE DRIVE. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW, ABOUT A WEEK IN BETWEEN AND IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS.
DEATH WOBBLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
2017 F250 WITH 35K. FIRST TIME HAULING MY 3 HORSE BUMPER PULL TRAILER. WENT OVER THE BUMP ONTO AN OVERPASS ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70 AND THE WHOLE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE SEATS AND STEERING WHEEL WERE SHAKING. IT WAS TERRIFYING. I SLOWED TO 55 AND IT STOPPED. IT DID IT TO ME TWICE YESTERDAY WITH SOPHIE IN THE CAR. I GOOGLED 2017 F250 SHAKING. IT'S A DEATH WOBBLE. AND LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE ISSUE.
WITH ONLY 15,000 MILES, MY FORD F250 4X4 SUPER DUTY TRUCK (ALL STOCK) WOULD WOBBLE VIOLENTLY WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR DIP ON THE ROAD, TYPICALLY AT SPEEDS OVER 45MPH. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE AS THIS OCCURS FREQUENTLY. FORD REPLACED SEVERAL STEERING PARTS AND ADMITTED TO WHAT THEY CALL A "DEATH WOBBLE". WHAT SCARES ME THE MOST IS THAT THE WOBBLE WAS SO BAD, IT FORCED ME INTO THE MEDIAL OF THE INTERSTATE AND NEARLY CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. MY FEARS ARE MORE TOWARD THAT IF I HAD MY 17 YEAR OLD DRIVING THE TRUCK, MUCH WORSE COULD HAVE HAPPENED AS IT TOOK ALL I HAD TO MANEUVER THE TRUCK OFF THE HIGHWAY AND DOWN TO A SAFE SPEED TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK UNDER CONTROL. THE WOBBLE OR SHIMMY WAS SO EXTREME THAT I FELT IT NEEDED REPORTED. WHEN I ASKED IF THE PARTS REPLACEMENT WOULD...
AT APPROXIMATELY 65 TO 70 MPH AND UPON HITTING A BUMP/EXPANSION JOINT/POTHOLE IN THE ROAD, THE TRUCK WILL ENTER INTO A NON-DAMPENING CASTOR OSCILLATION (I.E. DEATH WOBBLE). WHEN THIS OCCURS IT CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND THE DRIVER MUST SLOW DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 40 - 45 MPH TO GET THE WOBBLE TO STOP. THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN TOWING A LARGE/HEAVY TRAILER.
I HAVE A 2017 FORD F250 THAT HAS "DEATH WOBBLE" ISSUES. IT BECOMES UNCONTROLLABLE IF IT HITS ROUGH PAVEMENT ON THE HIGHWAY, USUALLY AT 70 MPH. IF THE TRUCK BEGINS TO SHAKE IT IS UNCONTROLLABLE. IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. THE ONLY WAY TO REGAIN CONTROL IS TO SLOW TO ABOUT 20 MPH OR STOP COMPLETELY. WHILE DECELERATING IT WILL GET WORSE THAT AT 70 MPH FOR A SHORT TIME, AND THEN SLOWLY STOP SHAKING. I HAVE BEEN TO THE HELLER FORD DEALERSHIP IN EL PASO, THEY REPLACED A STEERING STABILIZER. THE TRUCK NOW HAS A VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END, AND FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO START THE DEATH WOBBLE AGAIN. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF WORN TIRES. THEY HAVE 9/32" OF TREAD ON THE FRONT. THEY ARE HOWEVER DAMAGED FROM THE WOBBLE, FORD WILL NOT REPLACE THE TIRES. THE TEARS HAVE ABOUT 7/32"...
DEATH WOBBLE.. WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 65 TO 70 ON HIGHWAY IF YOU HIT ANY KIND OF BRIDGE OR BUMP IN ROAD THE VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY LIKE A WHEEL HAS FALLEN OFF.. YOU HAVE TO COME DOWN TO 20MPH OR STOP TO REGAIN CONTROL.. I HAVE ONLY 19000 MILES ON MY TRUCK AND THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES NOW.. THIS IS GOING TO KILL SOME ONE NEEDS FIXED.. HAVE HAD IT TO DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES ON MY WAY FOR 4 TH TODAY . I BOUGHT A NEW TRUCK TO FEEL SAFE AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW.
FRONT TIRES BEGIN TO "WOBBLE & SHAKE" VIOLENTLY OF SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH.
I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AFTER I NOTICED THE TPMS WAS MALFUNCTIONING AFTER ABOUT 4,000 MILES AND 3 MONTHS OF OPERATION. THE TPMS ORIGINALLY SHOWED A DRAMATIC FAULT IN ONE TIRE, BUT LATER SHOWED FAULTS IN THREE. THE READINGS CHANGED CONTINUALLY FROM TIRE TO TIRE AND SOMETIMES WERE AS LOW AS 40 PSI IN SOME TIRES. THE DEALER REPLACED 1 SENSOR BUT COULD NOT GET THE TPMS TO CALIBRATE. I RETURNED THE NEXT DAY AFTER THE DEALER OBTAINED TWO MORE NEW SENSORS. AFTER THE TWO NEW SENSORS WERE INSTALLED IN TRUCK WHEELS, THE TPMS STILL WOULD NOT CALIBRATE. THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEW SENSOR IN THE REMAINING WHEEL AND WAS THEN ABLE TO CALIBRATE THE TPMS. THE DEALER BELIEVES THAT ALL FOUR SENSORS FAILED AFTER APPROXIMATELY 4000 MILES AND THREE MONTHS. THE DEALER SAID THAT ALL FOUR TIRES HAD "MOISTURE" INSIDE WHEN THEY INSTALLED NEW SENSORS AND ASKED...
EXCESSIVE WHEEL BOUNCE.
