While driving at normal speed, the vehicle suddenly began producing heavy white smoke from the exhaust, the engine started to idle roughly, and a check-engine light came on. There was no oil-pressure warning, no low-oil message, and no “stop safely” alert of any kind. The only warning was emissions-related. After seeing the smoke, the vehicle was parked and later driven only to a dealer for inspection. A dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed that an internal seal in one of the turbochargers failed, causing the engine to pump all of its oil directly into the exhaust system. This resulted in complete oil loss and catastrophic engine damage due to oil starvation. The dealer confirmed the failure and determined that the issue originated from the turbocharger assembly and not from misuse or neglect. The failure occurred suddenly and without any oil-pressure warning to alert the driver. The safety concern is that...
Ford doesn’t want the fix the problem because my vin number is not on the list. Yet, there have been recalls for 2020 Ford F-150s related to the emissions system, including a recall for the 2.7L EcoBoost engine's catalytic converters, which requires a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) reprogramming, and another related to a loose battery cable that could cause stalling, fire, and other malfunctions. Catalytic converter recall (24E12) Who is affected: 2018–2020 F-150 models with the 2.7L EcoBoost engine. : The recall addresses inaccuracies in the catalytic converters' effectiveness. The primary fix is reprogramming the PCM to more accurately detect issues, which might trigger a check engine light if the converter is faulty.
My camera went bad at 69000 mi, it does exactly as those recalled but I don't get a recall notice!! Camera needed as safety tool for me, as I am 81 years old, why do they go all around this year and model!! It does exactly as those recalled!! Spoke to ford several times but no results!! Help!!06
Truck was traveling at 30 mph and slowing down for stop sign and shifted from 4 th gear to 3rd gear so hard the trucks engine turned off and had to come to a stop and shift into park to turn truck off and back on again. Truck was traveling at 30 mph and slowing down for stop sign
Failed CDF drum and collapsed shift solenoid retainers. Causing erratic shifting, hard shifting, gear skipping, bouncing back and forth between gears, delayed gear engagement, and shuttering when shifting.
The transmission in my 2020 Ford F-150 (10-speed automatic) has exhibited ongoing and dangerous shifting issues. While driving at normal speeds, the transmission frequently shifts hard between gears, surges, or delays engagement, especially between 2nd and 4th gear. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has jerked violently when slowing to a stop or accelerating from a red light. There have also been sudden RPM spikes and power loss without warning. The issue began around July 2025 [125,000 miles] and has continued. The safety of myself and others has been at risk due to the vehicle lunging forward at unpredictable times. This behavior has made it unsafe to merge into traffic or stop smoothly. No warning lamps have appeared, but the problem is reproducible. I believe this may be related to ongoing class actions regarding Ford’s 10R80 transmission. The issue has not been fully addressed by Ford, despite similar complaints from other...
The power running boards are malfunctioning continuously, I have fallen out of the driver side twice and now have injury to my right shoulder trying to stop myself using the arm rest. They will either not come out or will retract while trying to step up or will not come out at all, making it extremely difficult to get into the truck without them deployed. Also, will start to deploy and stop mid-way. I will attach a photo taken today.
The rear camera has stopped working all of a sudden. A blue screen comes up and says contact dealer when vehicle is in reverse. There is a ford recall for this issue but my vehicle vin is not included and sounds like it has this issue they are recalling for.
Rear view camera is all blury
Catalytic converter has failed prior to 80,000 miles. Ford has done updates, via wifi, to the system, but it has not helped. Parts are now on back order due to the demand for replacing bank 2 (driver side) converters.
Somehow my daughter engaged park assist. She put her foot on brake and with it still on the break truck began reversing and do not stop till we ran over a mailbox. We even tried to turn wheel.
There is a flaw in the design of the 2020 F150 and specifically the 5.0L V8 Engine. I have kept up to date on all maintenance, no visible oil spils and engine is consuming/burning significant amounts of oil. I've been told by numerous dealerships/mechanics that there is nothing that they can do and to try and join all of the class action lawsuits. I spent 50k on a vehicle that isn't even making it thru the life of the loan..... WHY DO I HAVE TO DO A CLASS ACTION. THIS SHOULD BE CONSUMER PROTECTION.
Exhaust manifold leak due to factory turbo mounting and bolts issue. Due to improper amount of bolts in rear of exhaust manifold where ford designed the turbochargers to mount to there is warping of the exhaust manifold and the mounting bolts break off due to heating and cooling with the turbochargers weight. Very common issue with the f150, causing exhaust leaks and possible carbon monoxide to leak into cabin. This is a dangerous design flaw that owners should not have to pay out of pocket to repair due to fords poor engine design flaw. Ford should have to recall the engine manifolds
Door lock stopped work.
While driving the vehicle going approximately 35 mph in heavy traffic the vehicle shifted to neutral without driver input as evident by +8000 rpms (bottomed out) and swift deceleration. No warning lights or indicators. No response when driver input to acceleration pedal. Vehicle would not shift into gear. After breaking to approx 15 mph Vehicle shifted VERY roughly w/no accelerator response and return to normal rpms. After waiting in neutral on the side for a minute accelerator response returned. hard and delayed shifting remained. Vehicle is currently being serviced by a ford dealer in Florida who relays no warning or trouble codes found - but recommended a transmission rebuild reference black fluid w/o leaks. Fluid was initially a quart and a half low. Transmission has an extended warranty and is getting replaced. 10r80 10 spd transmission with the EXACT same issue for the recent recall of a different year/ transmission...
Backup Camera is Distorted Blank image displays error message
The listed vehicle uses approximately 1 quart of oil every 500 miles, which is a grossly large consumption of oil. This same issue occurred with two other vehicles in our fleet with a similar make and model. One vehicle corrected itself over time. The other uses approximately 3 quarts of oil every 5000 miles. This issue has been confirmed and unable to be fixed by our city's vehicle shop since we obtained the vehicle in January of 2020. Over consumption of oil could cause the oil to run dry while in use, possibly causing the engine to overheat, permanent engine damage, engine seizure, etc.
The rearview camera is and impossible to see when the sun hits it or after dark During the day it is blurry half way up. Been cleaned over and over and makes no difference. Dealer says this is the way it is. I have and own several fords with no issues like this.
The described vehicle uses approximately 3 quarts of oil every 5000 miles, which is an over consumption of oil. This same issue occurred in another vehicle that we own which has the same year, make and model, but the issue appears to have fixed itself over time in the other vehicle. This issue is still a problem with this vehicle. This issue has been confirmed and unable to be fixed by our city's vehicle shop since we obtained the vehicle in February of 2020. This over consumption issue has been present since the vehicle's purchase. Over consumption of oil could cause oil to run dry while in use, possibly causing the engine to overheat, permanent engine damage, engine seizure, etc.
While driving on the highway the truck shut off. A message appeared (Auto StartStop Shift to P, Then Restart Engine) This is an ongoing issue. It has happened three times already while driving. After the error message appears I stop, the turn the truck back on and it works perfectly. The issue is that the truck turns of while going at any speed. I have already replaced the battery.
The under carriage splash gaurd keeps tearing off and hangs down. This is a widely known issue and presents a fire hazard and road hazard.
The locking mechanism inside the driver’s side door was not always working…it would sometimes lock and Not Unlock and other times just Not Lock. We could sometimes hear the mechanism trying to work, but not. Seemed to happen more on cold weather days. My husband has had to “crawl out” of the passenger side door when he could not get the lock to unlock, nor able to pull it up. He’s a big man. This is certainly a safety issue. We took our truck to Stokes Hodges Ford in Aiken, on 1850 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Graniteville, SC 29829, to be diagnosed and then repaired by them. They told us they were able to duplicate the problem and to my knowledge, they replaced it with a new part. Not sure what they did with the defective part after they removed it. There were No warning lights to indicate there was a...
I have brought our Truck and our Car to the dealer several times and had other service that I paid for completed and they refuse to perform Recall 20C19 I have attempted to contact Ford and they have refused to respond to my concern.
I have a problem with the door sensor, when temperature drops below 60 the system shows the door is open and doesn't let me lock any door even after driving, keeping the lights inside and outside the vehicle to stay on, this lead in few times to the alarm goes off during the night, the problem is that I have 2 kids they always use their seat belts but my little one sometimes put the hand on the door handle so to prevent any accidents I have to use to lock mechanism so the door can only be open from outside, but this is frustrating because I have to disconnect the battery in order to preserve power , seems this is not an isolated incident many people have the same issue.
I took my truck, a 2020 Ford F150 (manufactured 11/19) to the Ford dealership to fix my AC (apparently a failed compressor) and to look at what could be causing a loud screeching noise from underneath the vehicle which began randomly happening a few months back. The truck had also started to lag when changing gears accompanied by a loud clunking sound. This was especially a concern when merging into traffic since the speed wasn't picking up normally. The dealership said I need a new transmission $8000 and a new AC compressor $1800. FOR A 4 YEAR OLD TRUCK!!!!??? I follow all upkeep such as oil changes and tire rotations.
I have an actuated door lock on the drivers door for electronic locks. It recently started buzzing and not locking when I lock the doors, all of the other locks work fine. This lock buzzes whether I push the button inside the truck, push the lock button on the fob and also when driving about 5 miles per hour. Again, all of the other locks work as they are supposed to. I looked and asked my dealer about a recall on this issue and there is not one. I have a co-worker who had a similar problem with his ford truck that is a few years older and he received a letter from Ford extending his warranty so the part would be replaced at no cost to him. I am requesting the same thing as mine 2020 Ford has the problem currently and even though I can lock it manually...
The contact owned a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that his employees had driven the vehicle to a work site. While at the work site, the vehicle caught fire while the engine was off. An employee stated that flames appeared to have come from the vehicle's dashboard. An attempt was made to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher; however, the flames quickly engulfed the vehicle. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was destroyed as a result of the fire. One of the contact's employees suffered first and second-degree burns to the face. The employee was taken to a hospital where they were treated for their injury. A police report was not filed. The decal from a storage unit was melted, a blinker cover on an RV was destroyed, and several nearby trees were damaged. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard...
My 2020 Ford F-150 truck was recently serviced with PepBoys when my ABS light came on and another message on the dash that said my brake system has a malfunction along with messages in my FordPass app. It was evening when this happened I immediately took it to PepBoys early the next morning. They took a look at it they thought it was a sensor for the brake area it was not taking so they tried again and it once again still said the same problem. They took a deeper look and checked all tires and came across the rear left side tire upon removing it they were shocked to see that the axel was riding only on the caliber, the lock that is supposed to be on the axel was there but just dangling it wasn’t properly on where it should have been. They let me know it’s something...
On or about April 2024, the "check engine" light came on in my 2020 Ford F-150. My vehicle was just becoming due for re-registration. I had the code for the check engine light checked at my parts dealer and double checked at the maintenance facility I was having services done. The check engine code was for the catalytic converter. I had the catalytic converter and O2 sensors replaced at my service provider, the check engine light was extinguished and the codes had been removed, the vehicle emissions no longer reported on the service/inspection station and the vehicle passed the emissions/safety check for re-registration. In less than one month, the check engine light came on again, with the exact same codes that identify the catalytic converter failing. Both the parts dealer and the service provider tell me that it's impossible. Further checking by the service provider with Ford motor Company service...
I’m trying to get a printout of the recalls for my vehicle.
While driving in the rain, my vehicle had a complete electrical failure. I could not accelerate or even turn the vehicle off. Because of this I could not move my vehicle off the highway. Fortunately I was not hit by the vehicle behind me, and was not in a turn. he Several warning lights came on. After being towed to a dealership, it was found that the factory windshield was leaking into the passenger side area where the Body Control Module (BCM) is housed. This flooded the unit and completely killed the truck. It was surprising to me that rain had the ability to completely render my truck useless. The manufacturer would not cover any repairs as they claimed windshield leaks were a maintenance issue.
My 2020 ford truck driver side door locks freeze when temperatures get below freezing. When this happens the door does not open and when I open it from the inside the door doesn’t latch. I have to use a bungee cord to hold the door closed if I’m going to use the vehicle. Also the rest of the doors don’t lock when driving the vehicle. I believe other year ford trucks have had this issue and they also were recalled for a fix. I have had the truck to the dealer several times with no luck. The last time when the truck was under warranty they replaced the door lock actuator which didn’t help. I believe this is very much a safety issue and I shouldn’t even be driving this truck but I need it.
Not really a safety issue, but Ford is aware there is a problem with their 10-speed transmissions. When we went in to ask them a question; they TOLD US what we were experiencing, before we could tell them. Ford has a 3 step process to fix. The repair staff told us that the 1st fix never works. The second fix may work. The 3rd fix is another transmission with the SAME possible problem. They have completed the 1st step; but they want the truck for weeks, without a loaner, to see if they can "duplicate" the problem. Clunking and shaking when it shifts. We know they have had "service memos" in regard to the trannies; but why should the consumer be put out if they know there is a problem?
I've owned this F150 truck since 2020, purchasing it on Memorial Day. However, every year, I've experienced two to three instances where the car suddenly cuts off in the middle of a traffic light, accompanied by a yellow warning sign on the screen. I suspect it has something to do with the Auto Start-Stop technology. The most recent incident (1 month ago) while I was driving toward a traffic light direction that was turning red. I gradually slowed down until I came to a complete stop. When I lifted my foot off the brake pedal, the car simply shut off. This issue has become increasingly concerning, especially since it can occur in unpredictable situations. I'm hoping someone can provide some insight into the cause of this problem and suggest a solution.
Vehicle trying to shift into4wd while driving causing front bearing to fail Front bearing and 4wd switch changed twice
The ford sync 3 freezes and asks to check for updates. When it checks for updates it states your vehicle is up to date. The sync 3 freezes and all it functions crash. This affects all things the sync controls including the back up camera, navigation, and radio. This has been reported on numerous forums and ford doesn’t have a fix.
The infotainment system fails to retain configuration settings whereby accustomed “conveniences” have become unavailable such as cell phone hands free operation, back lighting level (nighttime brightness), volume level, audio source, and station presets. The configuration settings occur randomly with each startup of the vehicle and must be re-set in each time or later discovered by the driver while traveling and often lend to distraction and frustration. In reading the Ford F150 Forum online, this is not unique to my vehicle and there are NUMEROUS complaints of this same problem. It is suggested that the problem is either software (Sync 3.4) or hardware (accessory protocol interface module). Some have taken it upon themselves to hack into the system using a rogue interface known as Forscan to correct the problem since Ford is SLOW TO ACKNOWLEDGE the problem. Forscan has vast capabilities that could cause erroneous configuration of anything on the digital...
The F150 was in a Park position while running in our driveway and lunged forward hitting our 2022 Toyota Highlander causing over $11,000 in damage on bother vehicles. ($1,428.69 Truck/ $9,000 estimate for Highlander). The vehicle was taken to Mooresville Ford on June 21, 2023 (earliest appointment available for this issue) to evaluate and repaired the transmission and transaxle. (Currently a class-action lawsuit was filed (Orndorff, et al. V Ford Motor Company concerning this same issue). We believe either this malfunction caused the F150 to unexpectedly lunge forward or another malfunction caused the F150 to lunge forward. We called Ford Headquarters and was told to file a claim with our insurance company. Very Unresponsive! We recently discovered a recall "where a partially seated clip may allow the transmission to be in a gear stated different from the gearshift position selected by the driver. this could allow the drive to move...
The Sync 3 system has been rendered useless by recent software upgrade by Ford. Rear camera sporactically remains on when moving in forward direction. Pop-up messages requiring driver conformation occur after vehicle startup. Navigation, phone, radio are all associated with upgrade. Ford has acknowledged problem and stated that they are working on a software upgrade, none is available at this time. Ford will replace the ATIM which corrects the problem. The ATIM will be replaced under warranty. Vehicles out of warranty can have ATIM replaced at owner expense (+$1000). I find the Sync 3 system's random operation a distraction while driving and a safety hazard.
Tailgate unexpectedly opens. This has been going on the duration of ownership. Had items blow out. Had the “fix” done on it. 5 days later, tailgate opened again. Again, item blew out. Concerned about this bc it could cause an issue while towing and not allowing vehicle to turn properly due to tailgate hitting trailer.
After heavy rain storms in Colorado water started pouring through the passenger side floorboard of my vehicle. I pulled off the molding by the doors, the wires were buried in water, then I started getting a powertrain error. This is the second time that I have received the power train error, although the dealership is telling me that they cannot find a problem. I am also being told that TSB 19-2345 does not apply to my Vin although it seems to be ant least part of issue. My carpet is now musty and I cannot seem to get it to dry as the leak continues.
I was driving my car in the highway and out of the blue the sunroof exploded and shttared glass was all other the vehicle, there was no object causing it
The Display Screen on the truck goes completely black and resets itself. USB's don't function all the time. I was told when I brought the vehicle in for the first oil change after purchase that no issued were detected. It has continually happened. The screen goes black again, USB works intermittently, speakers are static and cannot get connection to any phone. Finally the dealer reported an issue with the sensor when I brought the truck in again for an oil change. So I waited for the part to arrive. I also stated my wheel locked and I was unable to drive it. They didn't find anything wrong. First time to get it repaired. The new sensor blew and the car didn't start. They had to put the old sensor back in so I had a truck to drive and order another. The second scheduled visit, the dealer couldn't find the...
Underbody shield came down and had to be replaced. It’s a black piece under truck that would have fallen off truck and could have blown up at another car. The truck has only 28263 miles on it and it should not be coming apart . I was told it is to protect the motor so I had a new one put on but the Dealership said it gets wet and there is cardboard that get heavy and makes it fall down and potentially fall off and litter the roads. I can’t believe this part has been put on the trucks and is ok.. VERY DANGEROUS WITH IT FALLING OFF TRUCKS DUE TO WET weather..
I was driving and the engine cutoff auto start stop message popped up had to stop and put the truck in park then turn the key to restart engine.
The drivers side power door lock quit working. With everything I have read it appears to possibly be the power door lock actuator failure. Thank you.
The power tailgate opened and dropped down, on its own, while driving the truck, approximately 45mph.
I was driving and I came to a stop sign when I tried to accelerate the engine turned off and I was turning into traffic thankfully I was able to pull into the middle lane. The screen showed the auto stop start symbol and to put the truck in park and turn the key. When I restarted the truck it was driving fine. I took the truck in to dealer and they found nothing wrong with it very scary.
rear window spontaneously burst without impact as i was driving down the freeway. scared the crap out of me and got glass all over the cab. This is a relatively new truck. The dealer I bought it at said they couldnt look at it until Feburary as they are so backed up and even then theres not much they could do about it. They were not at all willing to help.
4 times this has happened while on the road in traffic: the truck when slowing down around 20mph will shut off and an error message appears on the dash cluster saying "auto startstop shift to p, then restart engine". This put me in major risk of being rear-ended each time as I do not have the ability sometimes to pull off to the side of the road to shift the vehicle into park and restart the engine. Already took it to the ford dealership once and they said that they could not replicate the same condition.
