TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V107000 (AIR BAGS: FRONTAL: DRIVER SIDE INFLATOR MODULE) YET THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE WEEK AFTER REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SECURE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000. UPDATED 05/03/11*LJ THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE FRONT IMPACT SENSOR WAS CAUSING THE AIR BAG LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, INDICATING THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT IS A PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIAN AND HE INSPECTED HIS VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS A DEFECTIVE AIR BAG SENSOR MODULE. THE SENSOR MODULE IS LOCATED IN A WAY THAT ALLOWS WATER TO ENTER AND, OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, BECOMES FROZEN, WHICH PERMANENTLY BREAKS THE SENSOR. HE ORDERED THE PART FROM THE DEALER AND REPLACED THE AIR BAG SENSOR AS A TEMPORARY REMEDY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 25,000. UPDATED 04/29/08. *LJ

THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ONLY WHEN THERE WAS AN OCCUPANT IN THE PASSENGER'S SEAT. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THERE WAS NO ADJUSTMENT TO THIS SENSOR, AND THE MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. *AK UPDATED 1/25/2006 - THE AIR BAG WAS DISABLED ALTHOUGH A 120 LB OCCUPANT WAS IN THE SEAT. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER. THE DEALER NOTED THE FAILURE BUT CLAIMED THERE WAS NO WAY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *NM
