customer states that the frame of the vehicle has been compromised by corrosion. the vehicle only has 163,844 miles on it and it has major holes in the frame. The chassis could break in half prohibiting the use of this vehicle on the roadway due to the safety of occupants. I advised the customer of this of which they bought a frame repair kit (Pre-cut over frame c-channel steel) to weld onto the frame to support a longer lifespan. The truck is now safe for the roadway.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the vehicle rolled backwards. The contact shifted the gear shifter into park and turned off the vehicle; however, the vehicle rolled backwards again. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that upon inspecting under the hood, the contact became aware that the shifter cable had melted. The contact purchased a new shifter cable and replaced the shifter cable. The vehicle was started and driven to the residence. In addition, the contact stated that the failure had occurred at night, which was dangerous for being on the side of the road. I don't even have 150,000 miles on this thing. I get it serviced regularly. I've used the 4x4 when needed, as I live in the Sierra Nv Mountains area. I don't overdo it, I don't abuse it. One day with "ZERO" Clues or indications my truck popped out of drive into neutral ON ITS OWN I put it back into drive. Then as I tried to accelerate NOTHING, I got a code/msg saying faulty transmission, my O/D kept turning off and on. I pushed it to the side if the road. I eventually got reverse back, 1st gear, but that's it. And NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. Its Automatically you need a transmission. [XXX]!! You go online and this is happening to TONS of people. Are you saying WE ALL NEED NEW TRANSMISSIONS?? Kinda odd same trucks, same issues on the same part. What's the common denominator here...
Issues with transmission/ over drive snap ring vehicle only has 145,000 miles. This truck has many complaints and many failures and flaws that need fixed.
I BOUGHT USED CASH TRUCK, DROVE FINE FOR FIRST DAY, SECOND DAY WHILE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION AND PUT IN REVERSE IT DIES, TOOK A COUPLE TURNS TO STARTED UP AND IT STARTED CODING THE CAMSAFT SENSORS, GOT CODES CLEARED, AND IT DROVE OK FOR 30 MINUTES COATED AGAIN STARTED TO STALL AND STUTTER A BIT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC THAT, DUE TO THE CORROSION, OTHER PARTS OF THE VEHICLE COULD BECOME DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
1. BRAKE DOT 3 IS RUNNING OUT AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS. WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE KEEPS GOING. IN ORDER TO KEEP THE VEHICLE RUNNING, I MUST PUSH DOWN THE BRAKE VERY HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY REFILL THE OIL TANK. 2. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE SPEED REACHES AT AROUND 45-65 MPH, THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY LOSES POWER AND HIT AT 3-5 MPH BEFORE STOPPING. AFTER I COMPLETELY TURN OFF AND RESET THE BATTERY, THE VEHICLE STARTS NORMAL AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAPPENED FROM 2009 TO CURRENT TIME, BUT THE ODB SCAN DOES NOT DETECT ANY CODE OR ERRORS.

MY 2005 F150 HAS AN ELECTRONIC SWITCH TO ENGAGE THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. IT HAS STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. I'VE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL FROM 2004 ON UP. I NEARLY CRASHED WHILE DRIVING AFTER A SNOW STORM DUE TO THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE BEING INACTIVE.

A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED, THE VEHICLES PERFORMANCE WAS NOT INDICATIVE OF HAVING BEEN AT A REPAIR SHOP. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE CONSUMER WAS THEN INFORMED THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS ALSO DETERMINED THE INITIAL REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED WITH SALVAGED/USED PARTS. *JB
TRUCK WAS BOUGHT AND I REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND EVEN HAD TO REPLACE A CLINOID BECAUSE WAS TOLD THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. ITS NOT... THERE IS A BALL VALVE IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT KEEPS THE TRUCK FROM BUILDING ENOUGH PRESSURE TO BE ABLE TO SHIFT WHICH THROWS A CODE AND SAYS MISFIRE ON 6 BEEN REPLACED TWICE NOW SO CLEARLY NOT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE.. TRUCK FEELS AS IF FIXING TO FIE THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON START FLASHING BUT THROW NO CODES AND YOU CANT SPEED BACK UP BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE YOUR TRUCK IS ABOUT TO DIE AND YOU DON'T WANT TO BLOW YOUR MOTOR.

HARD TO INSPECT STEERING SHAFT UNTIL IT IS DISCONNECTED FROM STEERING RACK. COMMON PROBLEM WITH MID TO LATE 2000'S FORD CROWN VIC. POLICE VEHICLES. COME ON FORD, MAN UP AND MAKE THESE PROBLEMS A RECALL.
MY TRUCK HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 5.4L'S CAM PHASERS. THE TRUCK MAKES A VERY LOUD NOISE AND SHAKES. TO REPAIR THIS, IT'S AROUND $3,000 AND ALSO I HAVE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH ALL 8 COILS WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $1,200 AND A KNOWN MISFIRE. I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A SOUND COME FROM MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I DIDN'T LOSE POWER, BUT PULLED OVER TO LOOK UNDER THE HOOD. NOT NOTICING ANYTHING OBVIOUS I CHECKED THE FLUID LEVELS AND NOTICED THAT MY TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LOW. IT HAD BEEN CHECKED TWO MONTHS PRIOR DURING OIL CHANGE. I HAD NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKS. I FOUND A FORUM ON THE INTERNET THAT TALKED ABOUT TRANSMISSION FLUID GOING FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE TRANSFER CASE, BUT UNABLE TO RETURN. THEY HAD A $20 SEAL REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FORUM HAD STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN CONDITION BUT NOTHING WAS BEING DONE BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. A MECHANIC HAD SAID THAT IT ONLY EFFECTED 17-18% OF VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2004-2008. I CALLED TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS AND THEY KNEW THE PROBLEM BUT SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON IT. IT TAKES APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS TO CHANGE, BY...
ON THE MORNING OF MARCH 5TH 2015 I STARTED MY TRUCK TO WARM THE INSIDE AND ALSO MELT THE SNOW OFF MY WINDSHIELD. I GOT IN THE TRUCK AND BACKED OUT AWAY FROM HOUSE. DUE TO HAVING SNOW ON THE DRIVEWAY I TURNED ON THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN HIGH. FORD DESIGNED THE FACTORY SPARK PLUGS AS A TWO PIECE DESIGN. ONCE THE TRUCK REQUIRES A TUNE UP THE CURRENT SPARK PLUGS BREAK IN HALF AS THEY ARE REMOVED CAUSING AN ADDITION COST FOR EXTRA LABOR AND SPECIAL TOOLS DESIGNED TO REMOVE THESE PLUGS. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER WHO THEN BROKE 6 OUT OF 8 PLUGS UPON REMOVAL AT AN EXTRA COST OF 80 DOLLARS A PIECE. THE TUNE UP WHICH ONLY INCLUDES THE REMOVAL OFF THE OLD AND THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEWLY DESIGNED ONE PIECE SPARK PLUGS ENDED UP COSTING ME 1000 DOLLARS. THESE SPARK PLUGS ALSO BREAK INSIDE THE ENGINE CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. *TR

AROUND MIDDAY WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, I HEARD A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I DROVE A FEW BLOCKS BACK TO MY OFFICE AND THE VEHICLE SAT UNTIL I LEFT TO GO HOME LATER THAT DAY. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF INTO A PARKING AREA AND LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE TO SEE THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD FALLEN FROM ITS CENTER MOUNT. THE TWO PIECE DRIVE SHAFT CARRIER BEARING MOUNTING BRACKET HAD FAILED DUE TO CORROSION OF THE MOUNTING BRACKET CAUSING THE DRIVE SHAFT TO NO LONGER BE MOUNTED TO THE FRAME. FIRST OFF I WANT TO SAY THAT I WORK FOR FORD AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE FIRST OF THE TWO ISSUE I HAVE HASN'T BEEN RECALLED AND I'M NOT 100% SURE ABOUT THE DATES THAT THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED ON. MY TRUCK HAS SOUNDED LIKE IT HAS A DIESEL ENGINE IN IT SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAD NEW IN 2005 AND AFTER TALKING TO SOME GUYS AT WORK I FIND OUT THAT IT IS CAUSED BY CAM PHASERS THAT ARE IN THE 2004-07 5.4LITRE ENGINES AND IF THESE FAIL YOU HAVE TO GET A NEW MOTOR WHICH I WAS TOLD JUST A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO WOULD BE $8900.00 WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. IF YOU LOOK THEM UP ONLINE YOU WILL SEE THAT THIS IS A HUGE AND COSTLY PROBLEM. MY SECOND ISSUE IS I HAVE HAD MY REAREND REBUILT TWICE SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST...
DASH ELECTRICAL RELAY ISSUE,PAINT PEELING TAILGATE,TRANSMISSION SHUTTER GOING INTO OVERDRIVE 45 MPH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM PARK UNTIL AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID, BRAKE SWITCH AND BRAKE MODULE WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
I BOUGHT MY FORD-F 150 DIRECTLY FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 30 MILES IN AUGUST 2005. BY NOVEMBER 2005, WE BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH CONCERNS OF THE TRANNY SLIPPING. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, AND WE WENT HOME. WITH-IN 1 YR. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER WINDOWS, AND WITH-IN 2 YRS, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT COMPLETELY. LUCKILY IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, AND WAS REPLACED. WE HAVE REPLACED EVERY PIECE IN THAT TRUCK AT LEAST ONCE AND SOME SEVERAL TIMES. AND THE TRANSMISSION TWICE. LAST MONTH THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AGAIN. WE PAID $2700. TO ONLY BRING IT HOME, AND IMMEDIATELY IT WENT OUT AGAIN. THE MECHANIC IS BAFFLED. HE HAS BEEN TRYING FOR 4 WEEKS TO FIX IT, AND HAS NOW THROWN IN THE TOWEL. HERE I HAVE A GORGEOUS TRUCK, WITH A HUGE PAYMENT, AND IT'S A PIECE OF JUNK....

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000. *TR
WHEN VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS COLD, AND APPROXIMATELY 8 MINUTES INTO DRIVING, VEHICLE WILL CUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION & WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. VEHICLE THEN HAS TO BE GUIDED TO A STOP WITH NO POWER OR CAN BE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL & RESTARTED WHILE STILL MOVING. FOLLOWING VEHICLE RESTART ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. CODE INDICATES TRUCK HAS BEEN PLACED IN "LIMP HOME MODE". AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS, ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF. I WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY IN FEB. 2010, HOWEVER THE THROTTLE BODY HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED IN APRIL 2007 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, IT BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT JUMPED BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
MY FUEL CONTROL MODULE SHORTED OUT WHICH CAUSED MY PCM TO BE ERASED. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER RESEARCHING IT, BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. MY PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK AND LOST ALL POWER. THIS RESULTED IN A NEAR ACCIDENT DUE TO HAVING NO POWER STEERING AND LESS BRAKE CONTROL. IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE PLACEMENT OF THE CONTROL MODULE WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED. $1000 LATER I HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SHIFTER CABLE DETACHED FROM THE CONNECTION IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE SHIFTER CABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE TORQUE CONVERTER ON MY 2005 FORD F-150 HAS HAD TWO TORQUE CONVERTERS FAIL IN THE DRIVE TRAIN. ONE FAILED WITHIN THE 3 YEAR OR 36,000 MILE WARRANTY PERIOD. THE SECOND TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED AROUND 50,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS INFORMATION WARRANTS AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE FORD LINE OF TORQUE CONVERTERS FOR THE FORD F-150 TRUCK LINE. *TR

I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO BECAUSE MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WENT OUT! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE FEATURE MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ENGAGE THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER REPLACED THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SENSOR BECAUSE WATER HAD ENTERED THE OLD SENSOR AND CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION. THE REPLACING OF THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SENSOR DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I WAS COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM GEAR AND THEN FINALLY DID WITH A LOUD CLUNK. WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE FORWARD THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THEN JUMPED INTO GEAR JUMPING THE TRUCK FORWARD. THERE WAS NO WARNING FOR A TRANSMISSION FAILURE IT ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST ALL GEARS. THE MECHANIC AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE TO THEM AND THAT ONE OF THE INTERNAL SEALS PROBABLY BROKE AND CAUSED A "CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE." *TT

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2011. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE SEPTEMBER 23,2011. THE DEALER WAS IN THE PROCESS OF DIAGNOSING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,855.
