TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE TOOK A FEW SECONDS TO START-UP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE REVVED UP TO 1,200 RPM AND THEN RETURNED TO 1,000 RPM. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO GEAR AND MOVED A SHORT DISTANCE BEFORE STALLING. THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO STOP ROTATING THEN THE IGNITION WAS PLACED IN THE OFF POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED HOWEVER, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND AND THE PROCEDURE HAD TO BE REPEATED BEFORE THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATIONS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE OIL, BATTERY AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE NO LONGER DISPLAYED. I HAD THICK WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM MY EXHAUST WITH 98,XXX MILES AND MY DEALERSHIP MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT COOLANT WAS GETTING INTO MY CYLINDERS DUE TO EITHER A BLOWN HEAD GASKET OR A DEFECT IN THE WATER PUMP DESIGN. I HAD AN ENGINE WITH 18,XXX MILES PUT INTO MY CAR AND 20-30 MINUTES AFTER DRIVING IT, IT WAS SMOKING AGAIN. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AGAIN. THE ENGINE IN MY CAR IS THE SAME ENGINE IN THE 2013 MODEL OF MY VEHICLE AND THE 2013 MODEL GOT RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE.

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE IN OUR 2015 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM, WE BEGAN TO EXIT AND FOUND WE HAD NO BRAKES. WE HAD TO UTILIZE THE PARKING BRAKE IN ORDER TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE POWER ASSIST HAD FAILED BECAUSE THE VACUUM PUMP LOCKED UP CAUSING THE CAM DRIVE TO BREAK INSIDE THE CAM SHAFT. THIS ALSO CAUSED METAL SHAVING CONTAMINATION IN THE ENGINE OF THE CAR WHICH CAN CAUSE THE MOTOR TO LOCK UP AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING. OUR RESEARCH REVEALED THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM IN THE 2013 FORD ESCAPE; HOWEVER, THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED FOR THE 2015 FORD ESCAPE. FORD SAID THEY CAN NOT BELP ME. NO RECALLS ON MY CAR. I HAD 100,000 MILE WARRANTY. I HAD A FORD EXPLORER BEFORE WITH V6 AND HAD 190.000 MILES....

THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING PARKED UNDER A CARPORT FOR ALMOST 24 HRS. WHEN IT INEXPLICABLY CAUGHT FIRE. THE ENSUING FIRE BURNED THE CARPORT AND SPREAD TO THE STRUCTURE CAUSING EXTENSIVE PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR OF THE RESIDENCE. A PASSERBY MADE THE ELDERLY OCCUPANTS OF HOME AWARE OF THE FIRE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO GET OUT. THE AREA OF FIRE ORIGIN WAS IDENTIFIED AS BEING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE APPEARS TO BE SOME OTHER EVIDENCE AND/OR INSTANCES OF FIRES IN THESE VEHICLES OCCURRING THE SAME WAY.
