The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the panoramic sunroof unexpectedly exploded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the panoramic sunroof needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted, but had not diagnosed or repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. While the vehicle was shifted into reverse(R), the rearview camera displayed a blank screen. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Two dealers were notified of the failure and confirmed that parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had experienced the failure and the back over prevention camera was inoperable. The contact stated that while reversing, there was no image displayed on the screen. The failure mileage was 78,000.
I own a 2018 Ford Edge SEL 2.0L EcoBoost (VIN: [XXX] ). On August 24, 2021, with approximately 72,062 miles, the vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership due to engine performance issues. The dealership diagnosed coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders. The dealership determined the engine was not repairable and required full engine replacement. The repair invoice explicitly states coolant present in the cylinder and replacement of the engine was necessary. I paid $5,602.85 out of pocket for the repair. The vehicle was properly maintained, and I have oil change and service records from that period. No warning or misuse contributed to the failure. I later contacted Ford Motor Company to request reimbursement, as this failure appears consistent with the widely reported 2.0L EcoBoost coolant intrusion defect affecting similar Ford vehicles. Ford declined assistance, citing mileage and timing, and stated no active recall applied. I am submitting this complaint to document the failure, the repair cost, and to request review of this defect and Ford’s handling of owner-paid repairs for this known issue.
