#11716536 | ENGINE | | N/A miles
I own a 2018 Ford Edge SEL 2.0L EcoBoost (VIN: [XXX] ). On August 24, 2021, with approximately 72,062 miles, the vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership due to engine performance issues. The dealership diagnosed coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders. The dealership determined the engine was not repairable and required full engine replacement. The repair invoice explicitly states coolant present in the cylinder and replacement of the engine was necessary. I paid $5,602.85 out of pocket for the repair. The vehicle was properly maintained, and I have oil change and service records from that period. No warning or misuse contributed to the failure. I later contacted Ford Motor Company to request reimbursement, as this failure appears consistent with the widely reported 2.0L EcoBoost coolant intrusion defect affecting similar Ford vehicles. Ford declined assistance, citing mileage and timing, and stated no active recall applied. I am submitting this complaint to document the failure, the repair cost, and to request review of this defect and Ford’s handling of owner-paid repairs for this known issue.
