I HAVE WHAT APPEARS TO BE A COOLANT LEAK WITH ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER I PURCHASED THE CAR USED (ONE OWNER) 3 MONTHS AGO
CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE FLEXPLATE WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH. ALSO DESTROYED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND TRANSMISSION PUMP
WHILE DRIVING ACROSS OAK ISLAND 2 LANE BRIDGE AT APPROX 45 MPH, MY EDGE STARTED REVVING AT A HIGH RPM, ONE LOUD CLUNK & CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT LOST ALL TRANSMISSION. I TRIED TO SHIFT IN ANOTHER GEAR, BUT NO POWER TRANSFER. TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY & SHOULDER WAS SMALL. DRIFTED TO STOP IN SHOULDER & CALLED 911. POLICE CAME & PROTECTED MY VEHICLE WHICH WAS IN AN EXTREMELY BAD POSITION. I HAD NOWHERE TO GO IF I WANTED TO MOVE TO A SAFER POSITION. I HAD TO WAIT IN VEHICLE UNTIL POLICE CAME. IT WAS SUNDAY, TOW TRUCK OPERATOR WAS ON CALL. ALL TOTAL I WAS IN THAT LOCATION FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. HAD CAR TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED IT TO BE SHATTERED FLYWHEEL AT LEAST. PROBABLY MORE DAMAGE, BUT RECOMMENDED TO HAVE IT SERVICED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP DUE TO THEIR INTERNAL SERVICE BULLETINS NOTING...
THE FLEX PLATE/FLYWHEEL HAS NOW FAILED FOR THE 3RD TIME IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS. THIS IS CONFIRMED BY AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERSHIP AND STILL HAS NO RECALL ON THIS PART THAT IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE DAMAGED FLEX PLATE HAS CAUSED MY 2015 FORD EDGE TO HAVE A TERRIBLE RATTLING NOISE AND CAUSES CONCERN FOR SAFETY IF THIS PART WHERE TO BREAK APART WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE WHEELS OR MOTOR TO LOCK UP WHILE IN MOTION. ISSUE BEGAN WHILE CITY DRIVING
THIS IS A RE-OCCURRENCE OF THE ISSUE REPORTED AS NHTSA COMPLAINT 11317068. ON 09/01/2020, A DISTINCT RATTLING SUDDENLY OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. GIVEN THAT THIS IS THE EXACT SOUND THAT OCCURRED SIX MONTHS EARLIER WITH THE FLEXPLATE FAILURE, I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE DEALER. (THE FIRST EVENT ENDED IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BECAUSE THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT KNOW IF ANYTHING WAS WRONG SO I KEPT DRIVING THE VEHICLE DESPITE THE RATTLING.) THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE FLEXPLATE UNDER PART WARRANTY (WITH THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS FROM 9/1/20 TO 10/8/20). IN MY PREVIOUS NHTSA COMPLAINT, I LISTED FOUR OTHER IDENTICAL NHTSA COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME MODEL. IN THE INTERVENING SIX MONTHS, I HAVE FOUND TWO MORE COMPLAINTS OF AN IDENTICAL NATURE - NHTSA IDS (11327304 AND 11320476)....
MY WIFE AND I OWN A 2015 FORD EDGE WITH APPROXIMATELY 65K MILES. IT IS A DAILY DRIVER FOR MY WIFE. THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A BAD RATTLING NOISE A COUPLE DAYS AGO. WE ALREADY HAD AN APPT. FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP SO I TOLD HER NOT TO DRIVE IT AND TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT WHEN SHE TOOK IT IN. UPON ARRIVAL TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THE TECHNICIAN POPPED THE HOOD, LISTENED FOR A MOMENT AND REPLIED, "I'M 99.9% SURE I KNOW THAT NOISE". HE FURTHER EXPLAINED THEY WOULD NEED TO GET A BORE SCOPE AND LOOK AT THE FLEX PLATE AS THESE VEHICLES HAVE HAD AND ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FLEX PLATES CRACKING/BREAKING. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE MOST OF THE DAY AND CALLED BACK LATER THAT EVENING STATING THAT'S WHAT IT WAS AND THEY NEEDED TO PULL THE TRANSMISSION TO DETERMINE...
MY 2015 FORD EDGE HAS ONLY 16,500 MILES ON IT AS I ONLY USE IT ON OCCASION. THIS WEEK THE POWERTRAIN SYMBOL CAME ON AND A FEW MINUTES LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON!! I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. *TR
THE FORD EDGE HAS A CRACKED FLEXPLATE AND EMITS A RATTLING NOISE AND FORD WILL NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. A CRACKED FLEXPLATE SHOULD NOT HAPPEN, LET ALONE AT 50K. THE VEHICLE NOW SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL AND PUTS THE DRIVER AND OTHERS AT RISK. SHOULD THE FLEXPLATE FAIL, THE RESULTING DAMAGES AND INJURIES COULD BE DEADLY. I WAS DRIVING DURING MY NORMAL ROUTINE, FROM PICKING UP MY BABY AT DAYCARE TO GO HOME WHEN A RATTLE NOISE SUDDENLY STARTED. IT WAS NOT TOO LOUD IN THE BEGINNING, BUT AS I APPROACHED THE HOUSE, THE NOISE STARTED GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER MOSTLY WHEN IDLING AT STOP SIGNS OR RED LIGHTS, FOR EXAMPLE. THE 2015 FORD EDGE AWD 2.0 L ECOBOOST IS 4.5 YEARS OLD AND HAS 66,000 MILES. THE DAY AFTER, I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FLEX PLATE WAS BROKEN AND SO IS PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING THAT IS ATTACHED TO IT INCLUDING THE CRANKSHAFT, TORQUE CONVERTER, AND FLUID PUMP AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ENGINE. FORD PROVIDED ME A CASE NUMBER, BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP. I WAS QUOTED $7,300...
MILEAGE AT EVENT: 79,000 ON 2/14/20 A RUMBLING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD BEGAN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT IDLE, MORE PRONOUNCED AT START-UP, AND THE NOISE SUBSIDED WHEN UNDER POWER. TOOK TO DEALER ON 2/20/20 AND THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. NOISE CONTINUED AT START-UP AND WHEN AT IDLE. ON 2/25/20 WHILE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, ALL PROPULSIVE POWER WAS LOST YET ENGINE COULD STILL REV AND ALL POWER FUNCTIONS REMAINED (STEERING, BREAKING, AUXILIARY POWER, ETC.). PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED ENGINE OFF. COULD NOT RE-START VEHICLE AND VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. INITIAL INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE FLEXPLATE HAD SPLIT INTO TWO PIECES. ONE INNER PORTION REMAINED CONNECTED TO THE CRANKSHAFT, THE OTHER OUTER PORTION CONNECTED TO THE TORQUE CONVERTER. (SEE ATTACHED PICTURE OF FLEXPLATE.) DURING THE FAILURE, THE BROKEN FLEXPLATE DESTROYED THE BENDIX GEAR ON THE STARTER WHICH WAS ALSO...
UPON STARTING MY VEHICLE THIS MORNING 10-11-19 A SYSTEM INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON RELATED TO THE TRACTION CONTROL. THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS (2 LIGHTS) ARE ON AND STAY ON - THEY ARE NOT FLASHING. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO?

ALSO, WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCLERATED SLIGHTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUFFENBERG FORD BELLEVILLE (901 S ILLINOIS ST, BELLEVILLE, IL 62220, (618) 624-2277) WHERE IT WAS DIGANOSED THAT THE TRANMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
I STARTED MY CAR AND TURNED ON TO A BUSY STREET. MY CAR THEN SLOWED TO AN ALMOST IMMEDIATE STOP. I RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING HILL ASSIST UNAVAILABLE (I WASN'T ON A HILL AT ALL), THEN A WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ALONG WITH AN ENGINE LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON AS WELL. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN PUSHING THE PETAL. MEANWHILE THERE IS TRAFFIC BEHIND ME FORCED TO MOVE AROUND MY VEHICLE ALMOST CAUSING SERIOUS ACCIDENTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FUNCTIONING ABNORMALLY. THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERED AND FAILED TO PROPERLY CHANGE OVER WHEN NECESSARY. GLENWOOD SPRINGS FORD (55 STORM KING RD, GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO 81601, (970) 945-2317) REPLACED THE TCC SOLENOID, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL CAMPAIGN ISSUED FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
AFTER DRIVING THE CAR UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS FOR THE FIRST 40K MILES IT STARTED TO MAKE RATTLING NOISES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND IT HAD A BROKEN FLYWHEEL. 18K MILES LATER IT HAS ANOTHER BROKEN FLYWHEEL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EDGE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, A RATTLING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLEX PLATE WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES LATER. TALLASSEE FORD (1618 GILMER AVE, TALLASEE, AL) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,328.

WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE HESITATES/STALLS AND THEN JERKS AS I TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET OR HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE IS RANDOMLY SHIFTING HARD TO CHANGE GEARS.
CAR WAS TAKEN TO LIBERTY FORD IN WARRENSVILLE RECENTLY FOR AN OIL CHANGE. TOLD THAT THE OIL PAN WAS CRACKED AND OIL WAS LEAKING. NEEDED REPAIR. INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. SO REPAIR WOULD BE DONE FREE. NO INDICATION OF PROBLEM UNTIL CAR WAS TAKEN IN TO SHOP FOR OIL CHANGE. TOLD IT WAS A SMALL LEAK WHEN ASKED WHY I DIDN'T NOTICE IT!
2015 FORD EDGE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS EXTREMELY HARD WHEN CHANGING ACCELERATION RATES FROM LOW TO HIGH. SOME TIMES YOU CAN HEAR THE ENGINE REV BEFORE IT DROPS IT INTO GEAR. THIS HAPPENS IN BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING AT ALL TIMES OF THE YEAR.
I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH AND CAR POWER DROPPED TO COASTING AND I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE OIL INDICATOR CAME ON. I CALLED TRIPLE A AND THEN TRIED TO RESET THE OIL LIGHT TO RESET AND THE CAR STARTED AGAIN WITH POWER. CANCELLED TRIPLE A. CAR WAS NOT RESET AFTER OIL CHANGE. I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED!! REALLY SCARED ME.

IT WAS THE LOWER GEARS WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP THAT WAS GIVING ME ISSUES. I NEED TO ADVISE YOU THAT THIS IS A 2015 MODEL WITH ONLY 12,885 MILES ON IT WHEN 3RD AND 5TH GEAR 'DROPPED OUT' OF MY TRANSMISSION. THIS IS WHAT THE LICENSED FORD MECHANIC ADVISED ME. VEHICLE LOST ALL FORWARD DRIVING POWER WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON 3 LANE MAJOR HIGHWAY FROM ON RAMP DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE ENTERED LIMP MODE. NEARLY CRASHED BECAUSE OF LIMP MODE CAUSED REDUCED STEERING AND REDUCED SPEED TO MAXIMUM OF 10 MPH ON HIGHWAY WITH 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT. NO WHERE TO PULL OVER ON HIGHWAY SO DROVE VEHICLE IN LIMP MODE OFF NEXT EXIT. AFTER PARKING AND RE-STARTING, REVERSE NOT ENGAGING AND NOW SLIPPING IN AND OUT OF DRIVE GEARS. TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. DURING DIAGNOSIS DEALER PERFORMED COST ANALYSIS AND DECIDED TO REPLACE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE AT DEALER SERVICE CENTER FOR 30 DAYS. AFTER PICKING UP "REPAIRED" VEHICLE A LOUD EXHAUST NOTE IS NOW PREVALENT. NEED TO TAKE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS.
REVERSE AID CAMERA RANDOMLY TURNS ON WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO LURCH AS IF THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM IS ADJUSTING THE SPIN OF THE FRONT TIRES. WE HAVE HAD THIS INTO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY HAVE EVEN REPLACED THE CAMERA AND THE ISSUE STILL HAPPENS. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MAY FAIL TO OPERATE NORMALLY UNDER LOAD WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE.

I OWN THIS 2015 EDGE FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND LESS THAN 15,000 MILES. DRIVING ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT 35 MILES PER HOUR TO PICK PUMPKINS AND THE TRANSMISSION JUST STARTS SPINNING. WE PULL OVER AND TRANSMISSION IS COMPLETELY SHOT WILL NOT MOVE CAR. CALL AAA AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER CARBONE FORD IN BENNINGTON VERMONT. THIS IS NOT WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED BUT IT IS WHERE I HAVE IT SERVICED. SO THE FIRST THING THEY TELL ME IS FORD WILL NOT ISSUE A LOANER VEHICLE NOR WILL THEY PAY FOR A RENTAL. THEY TELL ME THEY FIRST MUST "DOWNLOAD THE DATA FROM THEIR COMPUTER TO FORD, SO THAT FORD CAN DECIDE WHETHER TO FIX IT OR REPLACE IT." THIS TOOK TWO FULL WEEKS. IN THE THIRD WEEK FORD TOLD THEM THEY COULD REPAIR IT AND THE PARTS WERE SENT. IN THE FOURTH WEEK I...
ENGINE GOES TO IDLE WHILE UNDERWAY, ORANGE WRENCH APPEARS ON PANEL, NO RESPONSE FROM THROTTLE. HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AT ANY TIME, HIGH OR LOW SPEED. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I CANNOT IMAGINE WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON THIS.
AT 6200 MILES ON A CLEAR WARM DAY OF ABOUT 95 DEGREES, AT ABOUT 40MPH ON A FLAT CITY ROAD, THE CAR LOST ALL POWER OF ACCELERATION, AND I HAD TO PULL OVER AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND A WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH DISPLAY, AND HILL START ASSIST UNAVAILABLE MESSAGE APPEARED. I PUT CAR INTO PARK AND SHUT OFF ENGINE, WAITED ABOUT 2 MINUTES, AND RESTARTED ENGINE. THE ENGINE IDLED ROUGHLY AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL PRODUCED NO RESULTS WHEN PUSHED. SHUT ENGINE OFF AGAIN AND WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND RESTARTED. ACCELERATOR PEDAL WORKED NORMALLY, AND DROVE OFF. WRENCH LIGHT WENT OUT AND ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT AFTER ABOUT 20 MILES. NO ACCIDENTS WERE CAUSED AS THERE WAS ENOUGH TIME TO REACT AND TRAVEL WAS ON A LOCAL STREET WHILE GOING STRAIGHT.

NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON JUST A MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH "FULL ACCESSORY POWER ACTIVE" AND THE GREEN LIGHT ON THE STARTER BUTTON WAS FLASHING. HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WAIT 2-3 MIN UNTIL I COULD SUCCESSFULLY RESTART IT. REQUEST RESEARCH HELP

THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY GOING 75MPH, SPEED DROPPED TO 60MPH WITHIN A MATTER OF SECONDS - WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND REAR VIEW CAMERA WAS ON. SECOND TIME, AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR SHUDDERED AND TURNED OFF WHEN DRIVING THROUGH THE GREEN LIGHT THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN. THEN, AS THE VEHICLE WAS BEING PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND OUT OF TRAFFIC THE ENGINE SHUT OFF...
I FORD EDGE HAS A BUMPING SOUND ON THE PASSAGNER SIDE. IT WAS A BRAND NEW VECHILE. BUT IT MADE THIS NOISE. COME TO FIND OUT AFTER IT BROKE DOWN THE THROTTLE BODY AND POWER TRAIN. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEIR WAS A RECALL BY FCC SAID THEIR WAS NO RECALL. FCC WOULD NOT BUY THE CAR BACK. THE DEALERSHIP DID "FIX" IT BUT WHAT REALLY IS A FIX ( A PATCH) WHICH MEANS IT WILL BREAK DOWN AGAIN. THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK OR MAKE ANY NOISES! IT JUST STOPPED IN A PARKING SPOT.
FWD 3.5 V6, 7 MONTH OLD CAR WITH 12,200 MILES- DRIVING ON INTERSTATE WHEN ENGINE JUST QUIT WITH NO WARNING. WRENCH SYMBOL ILLUMINATED ON DASH. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN, CAR WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED, ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER 3-5 MINUTES. CAR WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALER, WHERE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. DEALER SAID THEY SEE A LOT OF THIS PROBLEM AND THAT I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THEY HAD THE PART IN STOCK. I FELT I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO SAFELY PULL THE CAR OVER, WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. CAR WAS REPAIRED THE NEXT MORNING.
ON 26 JULY 2016, I ENCOUNTERED A SUDDEN AND INEXPLICABLE PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE THAT INVOLVED THE LOSS OF THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. . . WHILE I WAS IN TRAFFIC ON A BUSY ROAD. THE GEAR SHIFT WAS STILL IN THE 'DRIVE' POSITION WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED REQUIRING ME TO DRIFT INTO A DRIVEWAY/PARKING LOT, NARROWLY AVERTING AN ACCIDENT. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. NEEDLESS TO SAY WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED I FOUND MYSELF, AND MY GRANDCHILDREN, IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. ON 27 JULY THE SAME ISSUE REOCCURRED THREE MORE TIMES (ALL ON LOCAL STREETS), ONCE WHILE I WAS IN AN INTERSECTION, WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE COWLES FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED. THE SERVICE MANAGER, TOOK MY VEHICLE IN (HE GRACIOUSLY PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE) AND ONE OF...
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 45 MPH AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF TO THE SIDE BURN. MY CAR ONLY HAS 6700 MILES ON IT. THEY TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN'T GET IT INTO TO LOOK AT UNTIL AUGUST 1ST. THE APPARENTLY WON'T EVEN GIVE YOU A LOANER CAR IN THE MEANTIME. VERY FRUSTRATING. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

DRIVING WITH CRUISE ON AT 55 TO 60, YELLOW WRENCH COMES ON AFTER FEELING THE CAR SHUTTER, CRUISE STOPS WORKING BUT WAS ABLE TO KEEP IT UP TO SPEED. WHILE DRIVING HOME IN MY 2015 FORD EDGE TITANIUM, I TURNED INTO A SIDE STREET AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO CONTINUE DRIVING. CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. I COULD NOT ADVANCE. AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW MINUTES, EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND MADE IT HOME. A CAR THAT PUTS MY LIFE IN DANGER LIKE THIS COULD ALSO PUT OTHER LIVES AT RISK. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
THE VEHICLE DRIVETRAIN WARNING LIGHT WENT ON. WE WERE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH ON A HILLY TWO LANE ROAD. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. LUCKILY WE NOT BEING FOLLOWED CLOSELY AS WE HAD NO ABILITY TO GET ANY POWER AFTER THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON.
ETB ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED WHILE DRIVING PUTTING ME IN DANGER ON THE ROAD AND CAUSING MY CAR TO GO LIMP. I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH IN A 75 AND LOST POWER AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS ALL I COULD DO TO PUT THE CAR ON THE SHOULDER WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. IT WAS TOWED TO TEXARKANA AND I AM IN ROCKWALL TX WAITING ON 15000 OF THESE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER WITH FORD TO COME IN FOR MY CAR. THIS IS HOPELESS. IT'S DANGEROUS TO HAVE THIS CAR STALL LIKE THAT AND TO KNOW 1.6 MILLION HAVE ALREADY.
THROTTLE BODY. FORD EDGE TITANIUM NEW CAR - HAVE FOR ROUGHLY 6 MONTHS - 10,000 MILEAGE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY DOING 65 - 70 MILES AN HOUR. CAR MAKES A BEEP NOISE AND A LARGE WRENCH APPEARS IN THE LEFT SCREEN ON THE DASHBOARD. NO ABILITY TO USE GAS PEDAL WHICH IS NOW LOCKED UP - CANNOT PRESS DOWN. CAR IS SLOWING DOWN. ONLY OPTIONS TO GO TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURN OFF. CAR CAN BE RESTARTED. TAKE TO DEALERSHIP ASAP (HAPPENS AGAIN ON THE WAY - THIS TIME ONLY DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES AN HOUR). DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY AND THEY HAVE ORDERED PART TO REPAIR. BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR A WEEK. STILL AWAITING FOR DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR.
5TH STALL 5/16/2016 TURNED LEFT ONTO THE I-90 ON RAMP, HIT THE GAS AND AT ~40 MPH THE CAR SHUDDERED AND WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE. PULLED SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER AND RAN THE VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT. THE REPORT SHOWS ISSUES WITH HILL ASSIST AND SAFETY RESTRAINTS. (29,359)

RESTARTED AND ONCE AGAIN COMING TO STOP LIGHT ON RT. 61 WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SIDE AND RESTART. ALL THIS HAPPENED WITHIN 1TO2 HRS. THIS WAS ON SUNDAY 5/8/16 MILEAGE ON CAR 4,863. MON. 5/9/16 TOOK CAR TO SANDS FORD OF POTTSVILLE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT WENT WRONG AND CLEARED THE ENGINE LIGHT AND TO DRIVE CAR AND SEE IF IT OCCURS AGAIN. FORD MOTOR CO. WILL NOT REPLACE ANYTHING UNTIL THEY KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT TO SHUT DOWN.
