LEFT REAR TURN/TAIL LIGHT IS CONTINUALLY NOT WORKING. I REPLACE THE BULB, THINKING THAT WOULD CORRECT THE ISSUE BUT AS IT TURNED THE BULB MELTED INTO THE SOCKET WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. I'VE REPLACED THE SOCKET/CONNECTOR 2X AND NOW IT'S LOOKS LIKE REPLACEMENT #3 IS INEVITABLE. I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND FOUND SEVERAL POSTINGS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE? IF NOT, THERE SHOULD BE ONE! *TR
WHEN I PUT INTO GEAR THE TRANSMISSION JERKS INTO GEAR. ALL THE VEHICLE CODES GO OFF AT ONCE. ONE INCIDENT I LOST POWER WHEN I CAME TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. I ACCELERATED AND VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. THE. SPEEDOMETER READ ZERO AND I WAS CLEARLY GOING OVER 40MPH. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE 7MOS. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AT THE FORD DEALER TWICE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOTHING AND THAT IT MIGHT BE THE BATTERY. TODAY IS THE FINAL STRAW. I AM WRITING THIS AT THE FORD DEALER. DRIVING HOME WITH 2 BABIES UNDER THE AGE OF 3 IN MY CAR THE AIRBAG AND WRENCH LIGHT FLASHED AND ODOMETER HAD DASHES. CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. TURNED THE CAR OFF WENT TO PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND THE WHOLE CAR JUMPED. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE WITH THE CAR JERKING WHEN GOING LOW SPEEDS. THIS IS SO BAD. WHILE DRIVING DOWN VAN BORN ROAD (HEAVY TRAFFIC) THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED AND WENT TO 0 MPH, THE ODOMETER READ DASHES, THE WRENCH ILLUMINATED IN THE CORNER, AND THE AIRBAG WARNING SIGN APPEARED. THE RPM'S IN MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO CLIMB HIGHER AS WELL AND THE CAR SPEEDOMETER DID NOT INDICATE ANY MPH AND BEGAN TO DECREASE, AFTER SLOWING DOWN AT TA RED LIGHT I NOTICED MY CAR WOULD BARELY MOVE AND IT SLOWLY CREPT UNTIL I GOT HOME 1/2 MILE FROM WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM START. AS SOON AS I PARKED OTHER WARNING LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING SUCH AS THE TIRE PRESSURE SIGN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE SERVICE ENGINE AND SEAT BELT SENSORS SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED. A MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATING "DATA ERROR". THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED OPERATING DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY ONCE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES SOON RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT MULTIPLE SENSORS WERE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
GAUGES ON DASH STOP WORKING. TOOL SYMBOL SHOWS UP ALSO TIRE PRESSURE WARNING AND EXCLAMATION MARK. CARSTARTS TO SLOW DOWN. WHEN CAR IS PUT IN REVERSE IT MAKES A LOUD CLUCKING NOISE. LIKE THE MOTOR IS GONNA FALL OUT. CAN'T DRIVE IT FORWARD BUT U CAN GO IN REVERSE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. IF YOU LET THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW DAYS IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL. THREE DAYS AFTER PASSING MY ANNUAL TEXAS STATE INSPECTION WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN I INITIATED MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL ONLY TO HAVE THE INDICATOR BLINK VERY QUICKLY (NOT THE NORMAL TICK-TICK-TICK BLINK). THIS HAD HAPPENED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO SO I KNEW ONE OF THE BULBS HAD BURNED OUT ON THE LEFT SIDE. I WENT TO THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE, PURCHASED REPLACEMENT TAIL LIGHT BULBS & BULB GREASE AND ASKED IF THEY COULD CHANGE IT OUT FOR ME. UPON REMOVING THE COVERS, THE YOUNG MAN DISCOVERED A FRIED/MELTED ASSEMBLY. THERE IS NO WAY TO REMOVE THE BULB IT IS SO MELTED IN THE SOCKET AND THE SOCKET IS DISCOLORED FROM THE HEAT. THAT MUST HAVE BEEN SOME POWER SURGE TO DO THAT KIND OF DAMAGE. *TR

I OWN A 2008 FORD EDGE. RECENTLY I NOTICED MY EDGE HAVING A HARD TIME SHIFTING INTO FAST MODE. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, NOTHING IS WRONG. TODAY IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! I GET TO THE STOP LIGHT, MY EDGE WOULD NOT "TAKE OFF" LIKE THE OTHER CARS. I SAT THERE EMBARRASSED FOR TWO MINS TRYING TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, EDGE FINALLY JERKED AND THEN TOOK OFF. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY HAVE NOT RECALLED THIS EDGE. NOW, I HAVE TO PAY TO GET EDGE FIXED WHEN FORD COULD FIX THE ISSUE,. THE "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" MESSAGE CONTINUES TO GO OFF ON OUR 2008 FORD EDGE. THE DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. THE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON FINALLY CAUSING A COMPLETE DRAIN ON OUR BATTERY LAST NIGHT DURING THE NIGHT. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN AS THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK SOMETIME UNTIL SEVERAL MILES DOWN THE ROAD. WE COULD ALSO BE LEFT STRANDED SOMEWHERE AS WE NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE GO TO BED ALL LIGHTS ARE OFF AND SOMETIME DURING THE NIGHT THEY COME ON. WE HAVE TRIED SEVERAL SUGGESTIONS REGARDING ENGINE LUBRICANT ON THE PLUNGER, BUT IT IS A TEMP FIX AT BEST. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT FIXED BY FORD. CLEARLY IF YOU DO RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGES FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

THIS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH MY FORD EDGE. I WILL BE DRIVING A HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND ON THE DASHBOARD: 1. THE ODOMETER TURNS FROM NUMBERS TO DASHES 2. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING 3. VARIOUS SERVICES LIGHTS WILL TURN ON (EACH TIME IT HAPPENED, DIFFERENT LIGHTS CAME ON) THEN,I BRAKE TO A FULL STOP, THE CAR LOSES ALL THROTTLE, AND I'M BARELY ABLE TO ACCELERATE. WHEN I GO TO SHIFT GEARS, THERE IS A HARSH, CLUNKING NOISE IN THE TRANSMISSION AS I'M SHIFTING. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A DEFECT IN THE SPEED SENSORS BUT IT OCCURRED A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES IN ABOUT 8 MONTHS. I HAD TO TRADE THE CAR IN BECAUSE IT WAS BECOMING TOO UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
MAKING A LEFT TURN USING MY TURN SIGNAL, THE TURN SIGNAL LAMP ON THE DASHBOARD STARTED TO FLASH VERY RAPIDLY. I RECOGNIZED THIS AS A BURNED-OUT LAMP. AFTER STOPPING I CHECKED TO FIND THE LEFT REAR LAMP WAS NOT BLINKING. THE BASIC RUNNING LIGHT WORKED HOWEVER. UPON REMOVING THE ASSEMBLY, I FOUND THE LAMP SOCKET PARTIALLY MELTED AND CHARRED. I REMOVED THE LAMP, WHICH TESTED OUT TO BE GOOD. THE SOCKET HAD FAILED. I THEN REMOVED THE RIGHT-HAND REAR LAMP ASSEMBLY AND FOUND THAT IT HAS BEEN VERY HOT AS WAS SOMEWHAT CHARRED. I WILL REPLACE BOTH. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE REAR TURN SIGNAL BULB BURNT OUT. WHEN REPLACED IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT BOTH REAR LIGHT SOCKETS WERE BURNT BLACK AND BEGINNING TO MELT. THE MECHANIC REPLACING THE BULBS INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGES. *JS

THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 3 YEARS, SEVERAL MONTHS APART. HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE REAR TAIL LIGHTS MULTIPLE TIMES, SOMETIMES WITHIN 2 DAYS OF REPLACEMENT. HAVE TAKEN CAR TO FORD SERVICE, BUT THEY CAN'T PINPOINT PROBLEM. NOW CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. SEEMS LIKE IT COULD BE ELECTRICAL OR SENSORS. ON THE WAY HOME FROM A VACATION, WE PULLED INTO A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT TO GET A QUICK BITE TO EAT. UPON LEAVING THE RESTAURANT, WE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL. ABOUT THREE MINUTES INTO OUR DRIVE HOME, THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON (SPECIFICALLY THE WRENCH AND AIR BAG LIGHTS) AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL THROTTLE POWER. WE QUICKLY PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE CAR TO SEE IF WE COULD DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM OURSELVES. AFTER BEING UNSUCCESSFUL AT IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM, WE STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE. THE TRANSMISSION PRODUCED A LOUD "CLUNKING" SOUND. EACH TIME YOU TRIED TO CHANGE GEARS (I.E. REVERSE TO DRIVE), THERE WOULD BE AN EXTREMELY HARSH ENGAGEMENT AND THE GEAR CHANGE WOULD BE ROUGH, EACH TIME PRODUCING A LOUD "CLUNK". I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE...
FOR OVER A YEAR WHEN MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 100K AND STILL UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND SLAMMING INTO GEAR ON TAKEOFF. I TOOK TO FORD DEALER SHIP AND THEY RAN DISNOSTICS AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG BUT REPROGRAMED THE COMPUTER. THAT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THE CAR CONTINUES TO TODAYS TO SLIP AND SLAM ON TAKE OFF, THE ODOMETER BOUNCES AND THE ENGINE START CUTTING OUT/LOOSING POWER. AGAIN THE DEALER SAID IF THE COMPUTER IS NOT SETTING CODES THEY CANNOT FIX. NOW AT 110K OUT OF WARRANTY THE PROBLEM CONTINUES JUST GETTING WORSE. I BELIEVE BY READING THE BLOGS THAT THIS IS A LARGE ISSUE THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT BUT REFUSES TO ADMIT BAD TRANSMISSION DESIGN AND WILL NOT RECALL. DRIVER DOOR SAYS AJAR AND THE DOOR IS CLOSED. LIGHTS WON'T GO OFF. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 FORD EDGE PURCHASED IN 2011 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME ON IN VEHICLE AND THE CAR WAS STALLING. IT WOULD REV UP BUT IT WAS UNABLE TO PICK UP SPEED. I TOOK IT CAR DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. AFTER THE CAR SAT FOR A WHILE IT STARTED WORKING FINE. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM WE TOWED IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING THEY COULD NOT DETECT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS CONTINUING TO HAPPEN. AGAIN TODAY DEC 2013 WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STARTED REVVING AND WOULD NOT PICK UP SPEED. I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT. DRIVERS REAR TURN SIGNAL MELTED . BULB BURNT. *TR
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED OUR FORD EDGE USED FROM A DEALER, IT IS THE LIMITED MODEL. DROVE THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS AFTER OUR PURCHASE AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. ON THE THIRD DAY I NOTICED MY DRIVERS SIDE REAR INDICATOR LAMP WASN'T WORKING. ON INSPECTION THE BULB AND SOCKET WERE MELTED TOGETHER AND I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE BULB. BOTH FILAMENTS IN THE BULB WERE IN-TACT. THE FAILURE APPEARED TO BE RELATED TO THE SOCKET GETTING SO HOT THAT IT ACTUALLY MELTED AND FAILED. I HAVE NOT CHECKED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE BUT I'M ASSUMING I WILL FIND A BURNED SOCKET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DOORS UNLOCKED UNEXPECTEDLY AND THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THE MECHANIC STATED THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,400. UPDATED 12/23/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE DOORS WOULD NOT STAY LOCKED. HE WOULD LOCK THEM, AND THEY WOULD UNLOCK AGAIN. ALSO, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD STAY ON. THE CONSUMER HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. UPDATED 12/24/13

WHEN USING THE CORRECT BULBS AS LISTED BY FORD, BOTH REAR TAIL LIGHT BULBS CONTINUE TO MELT/BURN IN THEIR SOCKETS CAUSING FREQUENT BULB FAILURE, SMOLDERING OF THE SOCKET, AND SMALL FIRE WITHOUT WARNING! WHEN REPLACING MY LEFT REAR SIGNAL LIGHT I NOTICED THAT THE BASE OF THE TURN SIGNAL BULB WAS MELTED. I REMOVED THE BULB AND REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE AND THE TURN SIGNAL WORKED FINE. EVEN THOUGH THE RIGHT REAR SIGNAL LIGHT WAS WORKING, I WENT TO REPLACE IT AS WELL AND NOTICED THAT IT TOO HAD A MELTED BULB BASE. *TR
UPON DRIVING HOME NOTED MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL WAS BLINKING QUICKLY - WHICH I ASSUMED (AND FOUND TO BE CORRECT THAT THE BULB WAS OUT. UPON ARRIVING HOME, I CHECK THE LIGHTS. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO SEE, HOWEVER, I FOUND THE LIGHT BULB FOR REAR/BACKUP, AND TURN SIGNAL WAS OUT, AND THEN NOTED THAT MY LEFT READ LAMP/BULB (LARGER) BULB WAS BLACK, MELTED, AND REQUIRED PLYERS TO REMOVE FROM SOCKET. IT APPEARED TO OVERHEAD/MELT. REPLACEMENT BULB DID WORK, BUT UNCERTAIN AS TO THE USE OF THE BLACKENED SOCKET. REAR BRAKE/TAIL LIGHT SOCKET ON THE LEFT REAR OF VEHICLE HAS OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE PLASTIC AROUND LAMP. LAMP WAS BURNT OUT. NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED THE HIGH HEAT PROBLEM. NO FUSE WAS BLOWN, NEW BULB WORKED IN SOCKET. *TR

OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WHERE MY VEHICLE, UPON RETURNING TO SPEED OR ENTERING A ROADWAY/HIGHWAY, OR OTHERWISE ENTERING A ROADWAY, IT HAS MADE A NOISE, A SUDDEN JERK, SEEM TO HOLD SPEED (FAIL TO INCREASE SPEED) AND SEEMS TO FEEL LIKE IT IS FAILING TO CHANGED GEARS (APPEARS TO REV IN RPMS SLIGHTLY), THEN JERKS AGAIN, AND COMES BACK INTO ROUTINE SHIFTING. IT IS AN AUTOMATIC. THIS HAPPENS OFTEN. I HAVE HAD THE FLUID CHECK, FLUSHED, REPLACED, ASKED MY MECHANIC AND SHE CAN FIND NO ISSUES. IT SEEMS TO FEEL LIKE IT BOGS DOWN, BUT RPMS APPEAR TO INCREASE (ALMOST AS IF IT IS NOT IN GEAR/NEUTRAL). IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. I HAVE ROUTINELY CHECKED MY CAR FOR RECALLS. AND I SHOULD NOTE...
REAR BRAKE/TAIL LIGHT SOCKET ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT REAR OF VEHICLE HAVE OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE PLASTIC AROUND LAMP. LAMP WAS BURNT OUT. NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED THE HIGH HEAT PROBLEM. NO FUSE WAS BLOWN, NEW BULB WORKED IN SOCKET. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JERKED AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. I NOTICED AT A STOP LIGHT, WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE INSIDE INDICATOR WAS BLINKING FAST, TELLING ME I HAD AN ISSUE. ONCE HOME, I CHECKED MY TURN SIGNALS, DRIVER SIDE WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL. HAD MY SON CHANGE THE BULB AND FOUND THE PLASTIC AT THE BASE OF THE BULB WAS SEVERELY MELTED. THE SOCKET WAS DARKENED BUT STILL IN WORKING ORDER, REPLACED THE BULB AND IS WORKING FOR NOW. WENT TO FORD DEALER THAT I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY SAID THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER EDGE'S. (WHAT EVER !) I WANTED THEM TO LOOK AND THE SOCKET AND HARNESS BUT THEY WANTED $98.00 JUST TO "CHECK IT OUT". AND OF COURSE, I'M OUT OF THE 30 MONTH / 36K WARRANTY. GOOD THING I CARRY FULL COVERAGE, BECAUSE IF THE CAR BURNS TO THE GROUND, YOU CAN BET I WON'T BE BUYING...
THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING FORWARD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT & THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON & THE DISPLAY SAID "NO ODOMETER AVAILABLE" . WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE - IT WAS LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL THEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED WITH A LOUD CLUNK & THE CAR MOVED & ALL THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. A WRENCH APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE SCREEN READ ODO ERROR WITH DASHES. I COULD NOT GO. IT WAS AS IF MY CAR WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL. EVEN AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES IT DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. IT ALSO WAS SHIFTING HARD FROM PARK TO DRIVE, ETC. *TR
REAR TAIL LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. UPON INSPECTION THE BULB CONNECTOR AND SOCKET HAD OVER HEATED AND MELTED. *TR
BURNT OUT TURN SIGNAL BULB. UPON INSTALLATION OF NEW BULB I FOUND THE SOCKET TO BE MELTED ON BOTH SIDES. TOOK CAR INTO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE SOCKETS AND INSERTED NEW BULBS. A FEW MONTHS LATER ANOTHER BURNT BULB WITH DISCOLORED SOCKETS. CHANGED BULB AGAIN. NOW I'M UP TO ABOUT 6 BULB CHANGES WITH 4 BEING DONE BY THE DEALER. *TR
I OWN A 2008 FORD EDGE. I HAVE HAD IT FOR JUST OVER 30 DAYS AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE THE WEEK THAT I PURCHASED IT. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT SINCE THERE ARE NO CODES READING OUT AND NO LIGHT ON AND THAT THEY CANT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THE AUDIO SYSTEM IN MY 2008 EDGE CONTAINS A GPS AND SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO AS WELL AS THE NORMAL OPTIONS. ONE MORNING, THE SIRIUS RADIO RECEPTION WAS DEGRADED TO THE POINT THAT THE SIGNAL COULD ONLY BE HEARD WEAKLY AT FULL VOLUME. I WORKED THROUGH THE DIAGNOSTICS WITH SIRIUS AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FORD HARDWARE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER, WHO CHARGED ME $98 TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC THAT POINTED TO A BROKEN ANTENNA MOUNT ASSEMBLY, WITH A PRICE TAG OF $600 BEFORE LABOR. I DID NOT ACCEPT THE OFFER. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE PROBLEM SUDDENLY RESOLVED ITSELF AND RECEPTION RETURNED TO NORMAL. AT NO TIME DURING THIS PROCESS DID I MESS WITH THE CONNECTIONS TO THE RECEIVER (IN THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT) OR THE "ANTENNA" THAT SITS ON THE SPOILER.

ONGOING TRANSMISSION ISSUES SINCE PURCHASED NEW. BEEN TO REPAIR FOR MORE THAN 17 DAYS AND ISSUES STILL REMAIN UNRESOLVED. TOOK CAR IN FOR REGULAR SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES AND REPAIRS.AT APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES THE CAMPHASERS ( FORD ADMITTED WRONG CAMPHASERS HAD BEEN INSTALLED) WERE REPLACED. COOLANT PROBLEM DISCOVERED AS WELL WHEN VEHICLE ENGINE WAS REMOVED. ODD ODOR COMING FROM HEATER, WHEN VEHICLE RETURNED AFTER CAMPHASER AND COOLANT ISSUE DID NOT RESOLVE SITUATION, AND VEHICLE RETURNED TO GALPIN FORD SERVICE, WAS TOLD THAT AXLE AND BEARING WERE BROKEN AND THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT IN PROPER POSITION. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED FOR OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS AS WELL AS MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WHO MAY BE AFFECTED BY VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT PROPERLY ENGAGE AND APPEARS TO STALL BEFORE MOVING FORWARD.... 2008 EDGE PURCHASED NEW IN 2009. IMMEDIATELY NOTED STRANGE SURGING WHEN ACCELERATING AND BRAKING. CONCERNED ABOUT TRANSMISSION. NOTIFIED FORD COOPERATE WHEN DEALER SAID VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING 'NORMALLY" SO CONCERNED CEASED DRIVING ON FREEWAY. IN SEPT OF 2011, TOOK VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED. THEY ASKED THAT I WAIT EVEN THOUGH I SHARED ONGOING CONCERNS. VEHICLE WAS GIVEN TO ME AND TOLD THAT ALL WAS WELL. AT 32000, IN DEC. OF 2011 ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON...TOOK TO DEALER WHO ADVISED ME THEY WOULD NEED TO KEEP IT FOR SOME TIME AND ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REMOVED. 6 DAYS LATER, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAM PHASER AND ALSO SOMETHING WITH COOLING SYSTEM. OTHER ISSUES THAT SHOULD BE NOTED IS THAT THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CAR FOR NO REASON HAS ALARM GO OFF. VERY MUCH CONCERNED THAT INFORMATION IS BEING WITHHELD AND THAT THIS...
THE VEHICLE WOULD AT DIFFERENT TIMES, HAVE TROUBLE SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE, IN DRIVE, ETC. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS BROKEN. THIS PROBLEM WOULD ARISE, AND THEN GO AWAY. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALERSHIP RESET THE COMPUTER, AND IT RAN FINE FOR WEEKS, THEN THE PROBLEM CAME ABOUT AGAIN, AND WENT AWAY, THE LAST TIME AROUND SEPT 18TH, IT WAS WORSE, SO I HAD IT TOWED AND REPAIRED. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE OUTPUT SHAFT SENSOR AND TURBIN SHAFT SENSOR AT A COST OF $700. I WAS IMPELLED TO REPORT A CONCERN, AFTER SEEING OTHER CONCERNS ON LINE FOR THE SAME ISSUES, AND A CUSTOMER OF MINE WHO HAS AN EDGE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AND THE DEALERSHIPS DO NOT SEEM TO WANT TO SERIOUSLY ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, AND I FELT LIKE THEY WERE TRYING TO AVOID ADMITTING TO A MAJOR PROBLEM. *KB
REPEATED ISSUE WITH THE BULBS IN TAIL LIGHTS BURNING THE SOCKETS, BULBS BURN OUT CAUSING THE SOCKET TO GET A SINGED APPEARANCE WHERE THE BULB FITS. BULB IS PROPRIETARY TO FORD SO IT HAS TO BE TAKEN IN AND THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE SOCKET A SECOND TIME. ADVISED AT ONE POINT THAT IT COULD CAUSE GETTING A TICKET OR REAR ENDED AND INJURIES. AT THAT POINT THEY CHANGED IT OUT THE FIRST TIME. BUT STILL HAD THE BULB BURN OUT. THE BULB HAS BEEN CHANGED ABOUT 6 TIMES NOW AND STILL HAVING PROBLEMS

THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER OPERATE AND WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED UNKNOWN MODULES AND THE WIRING HARNESS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.
PURCHASED 2008 FORD EDGE LIMITED IN AUGUST '10. 1 PREVIOUS OWNER, 26K, MINT CONDITION. SUPPOSEDLY BATTERY WAS REPLACED UPON PURCHASE. WITHIN 1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASE UP UNTIL PRESENT DATE, NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS/COMMENTS WERE PLACED TO 2 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS REGARDING A 'HICCUP' WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND IDLING (RANDOM AND INTERMITTENT). 1 DEALERSHIP SERVICED THE CAR END OF AUGUST AND FOUND NO PROBLEM. 2ND DEALERSHIP SERVICED VEHICLE ON OCTOBER 13 AND 14 AND COULDN'T FIND PROBLEM. VEHICLE BROKE DOWN 1ST TIME THE DAY AFTER IT HAD BEEN SERVICED, OCTOBER 15TH- LOST COMPLETE ACCELERATION BUT NOT BATTERY POWER.
