TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AS THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO VEERED INTO THE SLOW LANE AND CONTINUE TO COAST TO HER RESIDENCE. ON A DIFFERENT OCCASION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHENEVER THE FUEL TANK WAS LOW ON FUEL. ALSO, THE BATTERY WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A PROBLEM BUT REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
DISCOVERED MY 2008 EDGE HAS A FAILED WATER PUMP ASY. CAR OVERHEATED DUE TO THIS. ACCORDING TO SEVERAL SEASONED MECHANICS AND FORD, THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO THIS CAR WITH THIS AMOUNT OF MILEAGE. THE WAY THIS CAR WAS ENGINEERED, IT IS A $2300+ REPAIR - FOR A WATER PUMP! SPOKE WITH FORD SEVERAL TIMES ASKING FOR THEM TO STEP-UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. GOT NO HELP EXCEPT I SHOULD KEEP MY RECEIPTS. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD. *TR
EDGE HAD STARTED TO DRIVE SLUGGISH, COULD NOT GET UP TO SPEED OR GET CAR INTO NEXT GEAR. DRIVING HOME FROM VACATION, CAR WAS VERY SLUGGISH GOING UP HILLS AND RPM NEEDLE WOULD REV HIGH BEFORE ABLE TO SHIFT TO NEXT GEAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH CODE OF P061. FOUND FORD DEALER LOCALLY WHO REPLACED FILTER. CAR DROVE BETTER FOR 1/2 DAY, THEN BACK TO SLUGGISH AND NOT ABLE TO CHANGE GEARS. TOOK BACK TO MY FORD DEALER, REPLACED MAF SENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FOR $645. 10 MONTHS LATER CITY DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, CAR IS STARTING TO SLIP INTO SLUGGISH MODE AND HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING TO NEXT GEAR. RPM NEEDLE REVS HIGH BEFORE SHIFTING GEAR. WILL WATCH CLOSELY BEFORE TAKING BACK TO DEALER AGAIN. NOTICE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR SAME PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE. *TR
FOUL ODOR IN CABIN AFTER STOPPING VEHICLE. SMELLS LIKE BURNING OIL OR OTHER FLUIDS. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS POSSIBLE MANUFACTURER DEFECT RELATED TO LEAKING PTU IN AWD VEHICLES CAUSING FLUID TO LEAK ON TO EXHAUST PIPING RESULTING IN THIS ODOR. THE SMELL IS VERY NAUSEOUS AND PROLONGS EXPOSURE COULD MAKE PASSENGERS FEEL ILL AND SAFETY CONCERNS WITH BREATHING IN THESE FUMES IS QUESTIONED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED VERY SLOWLY FROM STOPS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON FIFTEEN OCCASIONS, BUT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS FINALLY INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH INCORRECT CAM PHASERS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AXLE AND WHEEL BEARINGS WERE DAMAGED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THIS MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THE POOR ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
ONGOING TRANSMISSION ISSUES SINCE PURCHASED NEW. BEEN TO REPAIR FOR MORE THAN 17 DAYS AND ISSUES STILL REMAIN UNRESOLVED. TOOK CAR IN FOR REGULAR SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES AND REPAIRS.AT APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES THE CAMPHASERS ( FORD ADMITTED WRONG CAMPHASERS HAD BEEN INSTALLED) WERE REPLACED. COOLANT PROBLEM DISCOVERED AS WELL WHEN VEHICLE ENGINE WAS REMOVED. ODD ODOR COMING FROM HEATER, WHEN VEHICLE RETURNED AFTER CAMPHASER AND COOLANT ISSUE DID NOT RESOLVE SITUATION, AND VEHICLE RETURNED TO GALPIN FORD SERVICE, WAS TOLD THAT AXLE AND BEARING WERE BROKEN AND THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT IN PROPER POSITION. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED FOR OTHER FORD EDGE OWNERS AS WELL AS MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WHO MAY BE AFFECTED BY VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT PROPERLY ENGAGE AND APPEARS TO STALL BEFORE MOVING FORWARD.... THIS IS AN ENORMOUSLY SERIOUS ISSUE, THAT SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED. READING THE PRIOR COMPLAINTS, TELLS ME THIS IS NOT...
2008 EDGE PURCHASED NEW IN 2009. IMMEDIATELY NOTED STRANGE SURGING WHEN ACCELERATING AND BRAKING. CONCERNED ABOUT TRANSMISSION. NOTIFIED FORD COOPERATE WHEN DEALER SAID VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING 'NORMALLY" SO CONCERNED CEASED DRIVING ON FREEWAY. IN SEPT OF 2011, TOOK VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED. THEY ASKED THAT I WAIT EVEN THOUGH I SHARED ONGOING CONCERNS. VEHICLE WAS GIVEN TO ME AND TOLD THAT ALL WAS WELL. AT 32000, IN DEC. OF 2011 ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON...TOOK TO DEALER WHO ADVISED ME THEY WOULD NEED TO KEEP IT FOR SOME TIME AND ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REMOVED. 6 DAYS LATER, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAM PHASER AND ALSO SOMETHING WITH COOLING SYSTEM. OTHER ISSUES THAT SHOULD BE NOTED IS THAT THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CAR FOR NO REASON HAS ALARM GO OFF. VERY MUCH CONCERNED THAT INFORMATION IS BEING WITHHELD AND THAT THIS...
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 5 TO 6 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKES LOCKED. SHE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF RESTARTED IT; ALTHOUGH IT BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY, WITHIN A FEW MINUTES IT STALLED AGAIN. SHE STATED THAT THE LOWER THE SPEED THE MORE THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL, THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD ALSO LOCK. THE HIGHER THE SPEED THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL BUT IT WOULD RESTART AUTOMATICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER ON JULY 19,2010. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. SHE WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A VIN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 31,500.
