I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL AND FELT A THUMP. KEPT HAPPENING FOR A WEEK SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT IN TO CHRYSLER AND HAVE IT LOOKED AT. SERVICE INFORMED ME THAT THE LOWER INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT NEEDED REPLACED. THE U=JOINT ON THE SHAFT WAS WORN OUT, AND NEEDED REPLACED. THIS ALSO HAPPENED ON ANOTHER DODGE RAM TRUCK I OWN, BUT THIS TRUCK IS A 1998 DODGE RAM 1500. COST IS $395.00 PLUS TAX/SUPPLIES TO REPAIR. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SITE BUT HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V528000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

PUT A SET OF NEW SHOCKS ON THE OTHER DAY,TRUCK IS FACTORY HEIGHT ,BUT HAS 285S INSTEAD OF 265S.JUST TODAY IT WENT INTO A DEATH WOBBLE ON A WET CONCRETE INTERSTATE AFTER HITTING A VERY SMALL POT HOLE ON LEFT. I WAS RUNNIN ABOUT 70 AND [XXX] NEAR LOST IT. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOTHING ON SHOULDER CAUSE I COULDN'T KEEP IT IN MY LANE. THANK GOD MY WIFE OR DAUGHTERS WEREN'T DRIVING! HELP!! WHILE TOWING OUR 27FT MONTANA FIFTH WHEEL, I CROSSED OVER A CATTLE GUARD AND GOT A VERY VIOLENT VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAD TO COME TO A STOP TO MAKE QUIT. FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE TRAVELING SOUTH ON I15 WHILE TOWING A 28 FOOT TRAVEL TRAILER, WITH MY WIFE AND CHILDREN, THAT I HAD PULLED SEVERAL TIMES PREVIOUSLY WITH NO ISSUES. WE DROVE OVER A ROUGH PATCH OF THE INTERSTATE, AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THINKING THAT THE TRAILER LOST A TIRE, I FOUGHT THE STEERING TO GET THE TRUCK TO THE SHOULDER. ONCE STOPPED, I WENT IMMEDIATELY TO THE TRAILER AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS, I THEN CRAWLED UNDER THE TRUCK AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. WE CONTINUED ON OUR WAY, NOT KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED, AND DIDN'T HAVE ANOTHER OCCURRENCE FOR AWHILE. ANOTHER OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON I84 WHILE TRAVELING WEST BETWEEN BLISS AND MOUNTAIN HOME, WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AGAIN TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT, AND AS THE TRUCK CROSSED AN EXPANSION JOINT. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK FROM DAY ONE. 2007 RAM 2500 4X4 QUAD CAB 5.9. 50,000 MILES. TRUCK HAS BEEN PULLING TO THE RIGHT FOR A WHILE. I TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR ALIGNMENT AT DEALERSHIP. THEY SET IT TO SPECS. BROUGHT IT BACK ABOUT 40 DAYS LATER TO REALIGN, STILL PULLING TO THE RIGHT. SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THAT I NEEDED TO BUY AN OFFSET BALL JOINT IN ORDER FOR THEM TO GET MORE ADJUSTMENT AND TO CORRECT ALIGNMENT AT A COST OF $622.00. SAID THAT THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM. I CALLED & EMAILED DODGE/CHRYSLER ASKING WHY I WOULD HAVE TO BUY A PART TO CORRECT A STOCK FACTORY ITEM. THEY CALLED DEALERSHIP TO VERIFY PROBLEM AND TOLD ME WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT NEEDED AND THAT WAS ALL. CONSUMER SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BUY AFTERMARKET PARTS TO FIX A STOCK ITEM. *TR

I BELIEVE THAT MY TRUCK SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER CHRYSLER SAFETY RECALL NO. L16 WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES PER HOUR OR MORE, MY TRUCK HAS A VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO DIFFERENT SHOPS AND HAVE REPLACED THE WHEEL HUB AND HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED. THIS HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. YESTERDAY WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO GET AN ALIGNMENT DONE, THE SHOP OWNER TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT WANT TO ALIGN IT BECAUSE THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIE ROD END. HE DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT UNDER CHRYSLER SAFETY RECALL NO. L16, IT STATES "MODEL YEAR 2003-2008 DODGE RAM 2500/3500 VEHICLES MAY HAVE RECEIVED THE AFFECTED TIE ROD ASSEMBLY AS A REPLACEMENT PART DURING NORMAL SERVICE". I BELIEVE THAT MY TRUCK FALLS UNDER THIS CATEGORY. I ASKED A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO RUN THE VIN NUMBER...
WHILE PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND THERE WAS NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING. *TR

THE CONTACT DECELERATED TO 30 MPH BEFORE THE SHAKING WOULD CEASE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE STEERING COLUMN AND SHOCKS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE NOT BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE BUT ALSO ADVISED HAVING ADDITIONAL COMPONENT REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT DISCLOSE OF THE EXACT REPAIR RECOMMENDATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS MY TRUCK HAS WENT INTO A VIOLENT SHAKING. KNOWN BY MANY AS THE "DODGE DEATH WOBBLE". I HAVE SPOKEN WITH DODGE ON THIS ISSUE AT TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT SEEM TO REFUSE TO FIX OR RECALL IT. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS FIXES THAT MY OR MAY NOT FIX THE ISSUE BUT AT OWNERS EXPENSE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS ON A $40,000 VEHICLE IN MY OPINION. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM THAT THE RECALL HAD BEEN PERFORMED PREVIOUSLY ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
WAS DRIVING ON US 119 IN WV TRAVELING AT ABOUT 65 MPH AND RAN OVER ONE OF THE EXPANSIONS JOINTS ON THE ROADWAY. FRONT END OF THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY STARTED SHAKING AND WOBBLING OUT OF CONTROL, HAVING TO SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 10 OR 15 MPH TO GAIN CONTROL BACK. HAD OWNED THE TRUCK FOR A FEW MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL THEN. I HAVE HAD GARAGES TO TELL ME TO REPLACE THIS AND THAT TO FIX PROBLEM, BEING TOLD THAT DODGE WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. HEADED ON INTERSTATE EAST DOWN A HILL HIT A SPLIT THE IN PAVEMENT AND THE FRONT END STARTED TO WOBBLE SO BAD THAT THE TRUCK CHANGED LANES HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID OTHER TRAFFIC IN THE OTHER TWO LANES THIS COULD CAUSE DEATH TO SOMEONE .
