Without warning the car completely shuts off. This is very dangerous because it happened on the freeway (luckily the cars slowed down behind me). It is intermittent and two different mechanics have not been able to detect the problem. Was there a recall on this issue? What can be done to make this vehicle safer to operate. This has been going on for about 2 years.

The contact stated shifted to park(P) and turning off and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the fuel lines, spark plugs, and throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) module needed to be replaced. The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the vehicle almost stalled. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had become a recurring failure. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to start the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken not the vehicle to a local dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Interior panel lights will dim and flicker, headlights dim, radio will lose power, cabin fans for air conditioning will slow then the engine dies. This can happen while idling or driving at highway speeds without warning. When the engine dies all power steering is lost and braking and control is extremely difficult. After stopping the gear shift will not move into park and the key will not move to the off position for several minutes. Diagnosis narrowed this down to the TIPM. It was replaced and the issue stopped for 6 months then reoccurred. TIPM replacement again fixed the issue. Obviously the TIPM's have a defect and has been widely reported. Major issue is that only remanufactured TIPMS are available from the same defective build. Dealer charges over $1000 for the part and more to install it. When attempting to start the vehicle, ignition key inadvertently moves into the "Off" position, turning the engine off suddenly. If this safety issue occured while driving, it would depower various key systems including the airbags, power steering, and power braking. In the event of a crash following an accidental rotation of the key, the airbags would fail to deploy causing serious injury or death. The dealership is aware of this problem now and confirms this is a significant safety issue, but that their hands are tied unless Crystler helps. L25 is the known safety recall for the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravans- build dates 3months less than ours- July 2010 verses Oct. 2010. With our Dodge experiencing the same issue and safety concerns as the recalled ones, we then called Crystler at (800) 853-1403 to report the issue and advocate for the repair and/or extension of the recall. The engine shut off while driving. This has happened with my wife and myself over 20 times. I can shift it into neutral and restart the car. Sometimes it takes 2-3 times to start the car (again). One time I was going down a hill on a curve about 30mph and it shut down. I could barely turn the steering wheel manually to prevent me crossing the double yellow lines into another car. This could be very dangerous! I have not gotten around to taking it to a dealer 60 miles away. My car has not been inspected by anyone yet. There were no warning lights or messages or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the failures.
Engine has shut off while driving, van 2010 dodge purchased used from dealership @ 98,000 miles less then a yr ago. While driving dinging noise can be heard all gages go crazy and all lights come on from dashboard. This has occurred many times, my biggest fear is causing an accident while my children are with me. Van was taken in for service at local dealership, after a week I was told that there was no issue with the van. The frustrating part is this problem is not constant, and I can go weeks without any problems. Two days after pick from dealership problems started up again. Maybe a second trip to the dealership will give me some answers. I shouldn't be afraid to drive my van, but every time I get behind the wheel that is what if feel. The engine on my 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT turned off while driving down the road. This has happened over 5 times in the past 2 weeks. In these several incidents, the vehicle was warmed up and was travelling anywhere between 20 mph and 45 mph when the engine just completely shut off, which forced me to coast to a stop, sometimes in traffic. The engine could then be restarted with no issues. This vehicle has been serviced for Recall 14V-373 (regarding a faulty electronic ignition switch that could cause the vehicle to shut off without warning), but the problem described in Recall 14V-373 seems to be recurring.

WE ERE LUCKY NO BODY WAS BEHIND US IN MANY OCCASIONS, I HAD THIS ISSUE A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT IT USED FROM A DEALER AND THEY TOLD IT IS FIXED, AND NOW IT IS BACK, I COINSIDER IT DANGER TO ME AND TO OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD.

ENGINE STALLS, STEERING WHEEL/BRAKES/GAS PEDAL ALL LOCK UP AND BECOME INOPERABLE WHILE DRIVING/IN MOTION. I COULD BE GOING 10 MPH OR 50MPH. HAS HAPPENED ON WINDY ROADS NEAR MY HOME AS WELL AS HIGH TRAFFIC ROADS NEAR WORK AS WELL AS ON/OFF HIGHWAY RAMPS. I'VE READ HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO MY YEAR MAKE AND MODEL YET MY VIN NUMBER HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED? I ONLY USE MY KEY FOB (NO OTHERS KEYS OR KEY CHAINS ADDED). AT 35,000 KM WITH IN WARRANTY PERIOD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP. WENT TO DEALER, THEY FOUND CYLINDER # 5 MISFIRED. ACCORDINGLY TO DEALER THIS WAS REPAIRED BY CERTIFIED TECH AND VAN WAS IN GARAGE FOR 1 WEEK. THEN THIS VAN STARTED STALLING ENGINE AT 99,000 KM APPROX. THE ENGINE STALLS AND NO CODE IS REGISTERED AT LOW SPEEDS AND TURNS. FINALLY ONE DAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP 0406 CODE CAME IN WHILE CHECKING. MY MECHANIC CLEANED EGR VALVE CHANGED GASKETS. IT RUN FINE BUR STILL AFTER COUPLE OF MONTHS THE ENGINE STARED STALLING OCCASIONALLY. LEAVING STEERING WHEEL HARD TO CONTROL AND NO BREAKS. AT 135,00 THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. TOOK TO GARAGE 2 CYLINDERS WERE DEAD, HAVE TO SPEND $ 4,000 TO GET A USED MOTOR IN THIS TO BRING IT BACK TO ROAD. CHANGED TIMING BELT, WATERPUMP AND EXTENDED WARRANTY IT DID RUN FINE FOR 6-7 MONTHS....
THE VAN CUT OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. . THERE WAS NO WARNING AHEAD OF TIME. AT FIRST I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE BUT EVEN AFTER FIXING THAT THE VAN DON'T WANT TO START BACK UP. THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS HORRIBLE, TRANSMISSION SLIPS, STALLS WHEN IT WANTS, OR JUST DOESNT START. AND WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE SENORS?? LIKE COME ON YOU GUYS KNOW THIS "FAMILY" VAN IS NOT SAFE!!!!!! THE VEHICLE SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF WHILE DRIVING. NO SPITTING OR SPUTTERING, NO STALLING, NO ERROR CODES OR LIGHTS. JUST SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING. WEATHER CONDITIONS, SPEED, MILES DROVE MATTERS
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING WHEN RUNNING. CODES SHOWED IT WAS THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR. BOTH WERE REPLACED SEVERALL TIMES MY A MECHANIC. DEALERSHIP HAD VEHICLE FOR 2 WEEKS COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. REPLACED THE FLEXPLATE. IT NOW MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON. NOW IT IS STALLING SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. IT PUTS MY FAMILY AT RISK AND NOW I CANNOT LEAVE THE NEIGHBORHOOD IN FEAR THAT IT WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING. IF WE GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH THE VEHICLE STALLED NO AIRBAGS WILL BE REPLOYED. SOMETIMES IT HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING.
I HAVE A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH THE 4.0 LITER MOTOR, 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. MY VAN JUST PASSED 119,000 MILES AND IT JUST STARTED TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 30-40 MPH, ON CITY STREETS. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN AS I TRANSPORT MY CHILDREN AROUND. I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND I HOPE NOT TO ANYTIME SOON. I'VE BEEN READING FORUMS ONLINE AND MANY CHRYSLER OWNERS ARE SAYING IT COULD BE ANYTHING FROM THE EGR VALVE, TO THE IGNITION SWITCH AND EVEN BAD BATTERY. FIRST, THE HEATER HOSE HAD A HOLE IN IT THEN AFTER THAT WAS THE RADIATOR THEN AFTER WE REPLACED THOSE TWO NOW WE HAVE A ISSUE WITH THE EXHAUST MODIFIER AS WELL A ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES TODAY THE TIRES LOCKED UP ON US. WHEN I ENTERED MY VIN IT SHOWED ONE THAT NEEDED THE IGNITION AND FOBS REPLACED. WE TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL DEALER TRI-STAR OF INDIANA AND THEY SAY THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED IN JUNE OF 2016. I CAN'T FIND ANY PAPERWORK ON THIS AND IT STILL SHOWS UP. EVEN IF IT WAS DONE, IT'S OBVIOUS IT NEEDS DONE AGAIN BECAUSE THEIR REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE DEFECTIVE JUST LIKE THE ONES THEY REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CAR SHUTS OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING . IT WILL START BACK UP AFTER YOU PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN IT BACK ON BUT IT JUST SHUTS OFF . IT SHUT OFF ON ME TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND FOUR TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY.IT MAKES THIS WEIRD NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT AND THE LIGHTS ARE FLICKERING ON AND OFF. OFTEN AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND IN DRIVE IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF. I HAVE TO PUT IN NEUTRAL AND TURN IGNITION OVER AGAIN TO MAKE IT DRIVE AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS AT STOP LIGHTS, CITY STREETS AND EXPRESSWAYS. THE RADIO AND AIR WILL STILL WORK BUT I'M JUST COASTING WITH NO POWER STEERING.
THE ENGINE TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE ESP INDICATOR LIGHTS. WHEN YOU COAST TO A STOP AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, IT WILL RESTART.
WHEN PULLING OUT ONTO THE MAIN ROAD FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD, STEERING FAILED (STIFF AS IF NO POWER STEERING AND VEHICLE PROPULSION FAILED (FOOT ON THE GAS PRODUCED NO FORWARD MOTION). VEHICLE WAS QUIET. ALMOST LIKE A STALL OR AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEUTRAL, BUT THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE VEHICLE HAD STALLED. DRIVER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL DRIVING. THIS IS THE THIRD OR FOURTH INCIDENT.

A FEW WEEKS AGO I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY IGNITION, AND STARTED TO LOOK INFORMATION ABOUNT IT. I FOUND A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE (R3 / NHTSA 14V-373) WHERE THE REMEDY IS: THE WIN MODULE AND FOBIKS MUST BE REPLACED. I CALLED TO PALMER DODGE (770) 410-1111 (ADDRESS: 11460 ALPHARETTA HWY, ROSWELL, GA 30076 - WORKER: LUIS) AND MADE A APPOINTMENT TO FEV-19 (TODAY), AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WILL BE REPLACED, BUT TODAY THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY JUST WILL UPDATE THE WIN MODULE AND IT WILL BE FINE. THE REPORT SAY: THE WIN MODULE AND FOBIKS MUST BE REPLACED, SO I DON'T FELL GOOD BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. I TRIED TO CONTACT RECALLS.MOPAR.COM BY CHAT, AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. I ASK THE PALMER WORKER AND HE JUST SAY THAT UPDATE IS ENOUGH, BUT THE REPORT SAYS MUST BE REPLACED.

THE VAN STARTED RANDOMLY SHUTTING DOWN/TURNING OFF/STALLING (HOWEVER YOU WANT TO TERM IT) WHILE IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION. HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED, ANY ROAD CONDITIONS, ALL GAS LEVELS, AND ANY TEMPERATURE. LAST OCCURRENCE WAS 4 TIMES IN LESS THAN 10 MINS. 3 SEPARATE MECHANICS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG AND SINCE IT CAN'T BE PRODUCED AT WILL, THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE. MY VEHICLE HAS STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING 3 DAYS IN A ROW WHICH HAS CAUSED CLOSE COLLISIONS. I HAVE LOST MY TRUST IN MY "FAMILY SAFE VAN". I LOOSE CONTROL OF MY POWER STEERING AND HAVE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK/NEUTRAL AND THEN RESTART IT.
