WHEN TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT CRANKS CONTINUOUSLY WITH OUT STARTING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE STARTS WHEN IT WANTS TO. I BROUGHT THE AUTO TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A FAULTY TIPM..THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT HAVE THE PART,AND IT IS ON BACK ORDER..APPROXIMATELY $1400 TO REPAIR. *TR
PROBLEMS STARTING CAR. INTERMITTENTLY THE VEHICLE WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. DIDN'T MATTER IF THE CAR WAS IN A GARAGE OR OUTSIDE. COULD TAKE UPWARDS OF 20 MINUTES TO GET THE ENGINE RUNNING. DIAGNOSED AS TIPM FAILURE AND MODULE REPLACED. *TR
TIPM PROBLEM. *TR
WE ATTEMPTED TO START OUR VEHICLE, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES VEHICLE STARTED BUT STUTTERED, AS IF THEIR WAS NO FUEL GOING TO THE ENGINE. THERE HAD BEEN NO ENGINE OR SERVICE LIGHTS AT THE TIME. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND THAT MANY DURANGO AND CHEROKEE OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES, AND THE CAUSE WAS THE TIPM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TESTED IT, AND FOUND IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIPM, WHICH WAS FAILING TO ENGAGE THE FUEL PUMP. LUCKILY OUR CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TIME THE PROBLEM STARTED. MY WIFE GENERALLY DRIVES THIS VEHICLE WITH MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN. OUR WARRANTY ENDED AT 36000 MILES, SO IT WAS NOT COVERED. MY OPTIONS WERE TO REPLACE THE TIPM FOR 1200 DOLLARS, OR PAY 428 DOLLARS TO HAVE AN EXTERNAL RELAY INSTALLED TO BYPASS THE FAULTY TIPM (CHRYSLER...
CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING ELECTRIC MODULE FRIED THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SOMEONE WILL DIE IN THE FUTURE OF CAR SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING FAST ON INTERSTATE. *TR
WENT TO START MY 2011 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL.... IT WOULD NOT START. IT HAS 62000 MILES ON IT. HAD IT TOWED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TIPM MODULE. IT WOULD COST 1250. NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. I FOUND OUT THAT A LOT OF THESE CARS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. CALLED CHRYSLER THEY HAVE WASHED THEIR HANDS OF IT. THEY DID GIVE ME A CASE NUMBER IN CASE IT DOES GET ENOUGH COMPLAINTS AND THEN THEY WILL RECALL IT. MEANWHILE I AM OUT THE MONEY. *TR
TIPM MODULE FAULTY. VEHICLE HARD STARTS WHEN COLD. NOT COVERED UNDER CHRYSLER 100000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY. ALMOST ALL 2011 - 2012 JEEPS/DODGES AFFECTED. THIS IS BOGUS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED! *TR
THE ISSUE STARTED WITH INTERMITTENT ISSUES WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE (THE VEHICLE WOULD CRANK, BUT NEVER TURN OVER) IN ADDITION TO OTHER PROBLEMS SUCH AS RANDOM PUTTERING WHILE DRIVING AND THE HORN GOING OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ON THE DATE THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DODGE DEALER, I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START AT ALL. THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT DISCOVERED THAT THE ISSUES WERE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE TIPM. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PART, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY WIDESPREAD ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A NATIONAL SHORTAGE OF THE PART FOR SEVERAL MONTHS DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING NUMBER OF FAILURES RESULTING FROM THIS DEFECTIVE PART. DESPITE MULTIPLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AND THE HIGH NUMBER OF REPORTED INCIDENTS, CHRYSLER HAS TAKEN NO ACTION UP TO THIS POINT TO RECALL THE PART. *TR
THE TIPM! I NEED TO SAY NO MORE. WE NEED A RECALL TO PROTECT US. *TR
AFTER SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE CAR NOT STARTING FOR NO APPARENT REASON (I HAVE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION), I SUSPECTED AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. TODAY, UPON ARRIVING HOME AND SHUTTING MY VEHICLE OFF AND EXITING I FOUND THAT MY VEHICLES FUEL PUMP DID NOT SHUT OFF. IT CONTINUED TO RUN FOR 3 HOURS, UNTIL I PULLED THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE FUEL PUMP. THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLERS TIPM IN 2011 DURANGO MODELS, AS WELL AS OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS USING THE SAME MODULE. THE DANGER THAT A DEFECTIVE TIPM PRESENTS IS QUITE SIGNIFICANT, ESPECIALLY TO THOSE WHO USE THEIR SUV TO TRANSPORT THEIR SMALL CHILDREN. IT IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE TO NOT ADDRESS THE FAULTY NATURE OF A SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS THE ELECTRICAL STIMULUS OF A VEHICLE, AND COULD POTENTIALLY DEPLOY AIRBAGS IN A NON LIFE THREATENING SCENARIO OR STALL THE ENGINE, OR PRESENT ANOTHER DEFECT AT AN INOPPORTUNE TIME...
THE TRUCK WILL NOT TURN OVER OR START. IT HAS BEEN TOWED TO THE SHOP 3 TIMES DUE TO THIS. NOTICED THAT WHEN THE TRUCK DOES NOT WANT TO START, THE TRUCK IS HAVING ISSUES WITH CHANGING GEARS - EXAMPLE IS GOING INTO REVERSE, THERE IS A HUGE THUMP, THE TRUCK WILL NOT MOVE, AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WILL GO WHEN IT WANTS TO. THEN THE STARTING ISSUES BEGIN. ONCE THAT TRUCK IS NOT IN THE "MOOD" TO START, IT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. THE BATTERY IS GOOD BECAUSE ALL ACCESSORIES COME ON, BUT THE TRUCK WILL NOT TURN OVER. THE SHOP DOES NOT GIVE ME A REASON FOR THE ISSUE, BUT JUST TRIES DIFFERENT THINGS. ONE WAS TRANSMISSION FLUSHED, THE OTHER WAS A COMPUTER RESET AND IT'S IN THE SHOP AGAIN WHILE I WAIT TO FIGURE THIS ONE OUT. *TR
I HAVE TAKING MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW AND STILL HAVE A STARTING ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE WIN MODULE AND THAT DID NOT WORK. THEY READ SOME CODES FROM IT AND DID NOTHING. I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN FROM A LIGHT LAST WEEK AND I WENT TO HIT THE GAS AND THE SUV JUST STALLED. ALSO THE OTHER DAY I WAS SITTING IN LINE AT A DRIVE THROUGH AND IT JUST WENT OFF. IT IS VERY HARD TO GET IT TO START 95% OF THE TIME. IT TAKES ME 10 TO 15 MINS EVERY MORNING TO GET IT STARTED. *JS
WHEN THE KEY IS PUT INSIDE THE IGNITION, IT TAKES A COUPLE OF TRIES FOR THE ENGINE TO START (IF AT ALL) AFTER FAILING MULTIPLE TIMES. DEFECTIVE TIPM. I'M POSTING THESE COMMENTS SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING A CALL FROM MY LOCAL DODGE SERVICE CENTER ADVISING ME OF THE CAUSE OF MY VEHICLE NOT STARTING. IF THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED BY MANY CHRYSLER OWNERS (TIPM), THEN I FIND IT SHAMEFUL THAT CHRYSLER HAS NOT IMPLEMENTED A FIX. FROM THE PURCHASE OF THE DURANGO I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE KEY FAB NOT BEING RECOGNIZED, NOT STARTING, AND THE REAR CAMERA NOT WORKING. THREE WEEKS AGO I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND IT STARTED TURNING OVER (TRYING TO START AGAIN, WHILE ON). SINCE ITS A PUSH BUTTON START I TRIED TO TURN IT OFF AND TRIED FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES BEFORE IT FINALLY WOULD GO BACK INTO PARK AND TURN OFF. UPON BRINGING TO DEALERSHIP, THE MECHANIC IDENTIFIED ISSUES W/ LARIANT #5 STATING NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH THE NEW STYLE LARIANT #6. DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME- NOT COVERED UNDER ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY. WOKE UP THE DAY BEFORE THE FOURTH OF JULY AND GOT MYSELF AND THE KIDS READY TO TRAVEL OUT OF TOWN. LOADED EVERYONE IN THE CAR AND THE TRUCK WOULDN'T START. ON SATURDAY MORNING I ATTEMPTED TO CRANK MY 2011 DODGE DURANGO MY PUSH START AND IT TRIED TO CRANK BUT WOULD NOT. I HAD TO REMOVE THE PUSH START BUTTON AND CRANK THE CAR MANUALLY, WHICH TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. AFTER I GOT IT STARTED I HAD NO MORE TROUBLE THAT DAY. ON SUNDAY THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE. IT AGAIN HAD TO REMOVE THE REMOTE START BOTTON BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD CONTINUOUSLY TRY TO START WITHOUT SUCCESS. WHEN WE WOULD GET THE CAR STARTED IT WOULD IMMEDIATELY DIE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND PRESSING THE GAS WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED. I BEGAN TO READ ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND THAT IT IS A FUALTY TIPM. I CONTACTED THE DODGE DEALER AND HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE MY CAR IN. NOT HAPPY!! *JS
MY 2011 DODGE DURANGO HAS BEEN HAVING TROUBLE STARTING OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS. IT WOULD NOT START AND JUST KEPT TRYING TO TURN OVER. EVENTUALLY AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS IT WOULD START. DURANGO HAD A DIFFICULT TIME STARTING, IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START ESPECIALLY AFTER SITTING OVER NIGHT OR DURING THE WORK DAY. BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO A DEALERSHIP, THE TRUCK FAILED TO START (THANKFULLY I WAS AT HOME) AND WE HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER ROUGHLY 2 WEEKS THE TIPM WAS REPLACED/REPAIRED AND I PICKED UP THE TRUCK ON 6/10/14. THE TRUCK NOW STARTS FINE, HOWEVER, THE SIGNAL LIGHTS DO NOT WORK, NOW- AND THE FOG LIGHTS FLASH WHEN THE SIGNAL LIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ON! IN MANY CASES I HAVE HEARD THIS ALSO AFFECTS MY BRAKE LIGHTS!! MY LEGAL VEHICLE IS NOW ILLEGAL AND NOT AT MY OWN FAULT BUT THROUGH CHRYSLER/DODGE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TURNING SIGNALS WOULD NOT OPERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL SPORADICALLY AND THE WOULD OCCASIONALLY FAIL TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE NORMALLY ONCE RESTARTED AFTER STALLING, BUT THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE HAD MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE REAR HATCH WOULD INDEPENDENTLY OPEN AND THE DOOR LOCKS WERE ALSO MALFUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT BECAME LOCKED IN THE VEHICLE FOR 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE POWER DOOR LOCKS BECAME OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BUT WAS LATER DIAGNOSED WITH A 4-WHEEL LOW LOCK SWITCH FAILURE WHEN IT ROLLED DOWNHILL WHILE SECURED IN PARK. THE SWITCH WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS...
WONT START JUST CRANKS AND WONT TURN OVER. IF START AFTER SEVER TIMES LOST COMPRESSION AND SHUT DOWN EVEN DRIVING IT. TREMBLING AND SHAKING WHEN ITS STARTS IF ITS STARTS. NOT TO ABLE TO START,SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNINGS. *TR

WE NOTIFIED THE DEALER THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED, BUT THEY DID NOT FIND A SOLUTION. WE INFORMED THE DEALER OF PROBLEMS WITH THE TIPM MODULE AND THAT WE FELT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM, THE DEALER DENIED THIS WAS THE PROBLEM AND SAID THAT THE BATTERY WAS THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING WHILE PARKED. VEHICLE WILL NOT START. IT WAS TAKEN TO A COLLISION CENTER, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE DODGE DEALER AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT DETERMINED THE PROBLEM OR CAUSE. THEIR GUESS IS THAT THERE WAS A SHORTAGE, OR PROBLEMS WITH THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULES) AND THEY ALSO HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WERE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD START. THE FAILURE WAS A CONSTANT OCCURRENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. I LOVE THIS VEHICLE. ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE ENCOUNTERED JUST RECENT, IS THE REAR AC. I WAS THE EXTREMELY PROUD OWNER OF A 2011 DODGE DURANGO. BY FAR THE BEST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. ON JANUARY 11, 2014 WHILE ON OUR WAY HOME WITH OUR (2) CHILDREN, WE WERE HEADING DOWN A MOUNTAIN COMING INTO A TURN. JUNE OF 2013, ENGINE START PROBLEMS, CRANK AND NO START, OR CRANK AND RUN VERY ROUGH -- SEVER MISFIRES. COMPLAINED TO DEALER, NO CODES, SO THEY SAY NO PROBLEM. PROBLEM BECAME MORE SEVERE, RECORDED VIDEO AND AUDIO OF THE PROBLEM ON MY PHONE. ALSO HAD ISSUE WITH SIRIUS/XM LOOSING ALL STATION PRESETS, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD LOOSE CONNECTION WITH THE KEY FOB. COULD BE POWER ISSUE. THEY OPTED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP WITH NO DIAGNOSTICS TO CONFIRM THAT THIS WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AFTER THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME, NEXT MORNING IT WOULD CRANK AND NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, EVENTUALLY THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) WAS REPLACED. AT LEAST ONE ISSUE WITH THE TIPM HAS BEEN SUBSTANDARD SOLID STATE RELAYS INSIDE THE MODULE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS STARTED GOING ON AND OFF, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED. THE CAR THEN LOST ALL POWER, ACCELERATION, AND POWER STEERING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED A FAILED ALTERNATOR. AFTER THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED, THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY.
