WHILE DRIVING MY 2013 DODGE CHARGER DAYTONA AT 60MPH THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE POWER JUST FAILED, I HAD NO BREAK OR STEERING AND JUST HAD TO PRAY NO ONE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME OR I WOULD HAVE HIT THEM. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS SINCE MY DEALERSHIP SAYS THEIR IS NO OPEN RECALL BUT THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM ALL OVER DIFFERENT WEBSITES. THIS IS SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS SINCE PEOPLE TYPICALLY DRIVE VERY FAST IN THESE VEHICLES! I COULD'VE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE! NOT TO MENTION THAT WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK I COULDN'T EVEN MOVE THE CAR OR HAVE ANY HAZARDS ON.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ENTERED INTO BATTERY SAVE MODE AND THE AIR CONDITIONER AND RADIO WERE DISENGAGED. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE BATTERY SAVE MODE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE, OPENED THE HOOD, AND SAW A CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE AND SMALL FLAMES AROUND WIRES CONNECTED TO THE ALTERNATOR. THE CONTACT ENTERED THE VEHICLE TO TURN IT OFF AND THE FLAMES EXTINGUISHED INDEPENDENTLY. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED TO CHARGE TO THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE CONTACT NOTICED A FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (SCAP AUTO, 430 TUNXIS HILL RD, FAIRFIELD, CT, 203-384-0005) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER BOX WAS REWIRED AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE. THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED THAT THE POWER BOX BE REPLACED AND THAT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I PURCHASED MY 2013 DODGE CHARGER FROM ANDERSON TOYOTA OF LAKE HAVASU CITY, ARIZONA AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE LAST YEAR. I HAVE SINCE COME TO DISCOVER THAT THE VEHICLE HAS 5 ACTIVE SAFETY RECALLS, NONE OF WHICH WERE ADDRESSED OR FIXED PRIOR TO THE DEALERSHIP SELLING ME THE CAR. SEVERAL OF THE RECALLS HAVE BEEN IN PLACE FOR YEARS, BUT I WAS NEVER INFORMED THAT I WAS BEING SOLD A VEHICLE KNOWN TO BE UNSAFE. I AM NOW PAYING ON A FINANCED VEHICLE THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN OUT OF TOWN, DUE TO KNOWN DEFECTS THAT WERE IN PLACE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE.

THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING ABS, POWER STEERING, ELECTRONIC STABILITY AND DASHBOARD GAUGES, AS WELL AS AC AND RADIO, SUDDENLY CUT OUT DURING DRIVING. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY THE ALTERNATOR CATCHING FIRE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET (IN MOTION). THE FIRE WAS QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED WITH A BOTTLE OF WATER, BUT SOME PLASTIC/WIRING WAS BURNED.

IF THE ALTERNATOR FAILS, THE VEHICLE STALL WITHOUT WARNING, TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND BEEN TOLD THAT RECALL P60 IS ONLY FOR 160 AM ALTERNATOR AND MY IS 180 BUT THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN TO MY CAR.

EVER SINCE PURCHASING VEHICLE IN JUNE 2013. BATTERY SAVER MODE COMES ON MESSAGE SCREEN REGULARLY. THE BRAKES WOULD ENGAGE ON THEIR ON THEIR OWN FINALLY THE CAR STARTED TO STALL AND COASTED TO A STOP. WHEN STOPPED THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE RUNNING SLOWLY. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO DEALER AT MY COST. THEY SAID ALTERNATOR WAS BURNED UP AND IT ALSO BURNED UP THE BATTERY. EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL PAY FOR ALTERNATOR BUT NOT THE BATTERY. CAR HAS 43000 MILES.

INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMING ON, HEATER TURNING ON, GAUGES BLINKING ON AND OFF, FAILURE TO START AND STALLING WHILE DRIVING. I ASSUMED THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD SO I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THE VEHICLE DIED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO AN AUTOMOTIVE SHOP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE BATTERY WAS FRIED AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. AS SOON AS A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED IT IMMEDIATELY FRIED THAT BATTERY AND THEY SAID THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS GENERATING HEAT AND BEGINNING TO SMOKE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL SHORT THAT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE AND SENT IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. THIS PARTICULAR VIN NUMBER IS NOT UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL BUT ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS THE CAR WAS HAVING IS EXACTLY WHAT...
I WAS DRIVING FROM TULSA TO JOPLIN WHEN THE BATTERY SAVER LIGHT CAME ON. SHORTLY AFTER I LOST ALL DIGITAL GAUGES AND POWER STEERING. CAR SHUT OFF AND BECAME HARD TO CONTROL. I WAS IN LEFT LANE ON INTERSTATE WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS IN THE RIGHT LANE, CAR SLOWED TO AROUND 10 MILES AN HOUR AS I TRIED TO GET ACROSS RIGHT LANE ONTO SHOULDER. CAR IN RIGHT LANE WOULD NOT MOVE AND ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT. WAS ABLE TO GET CAR TO SHOULDER. ORIGINAL ALTERNATOR FAILED AT 130,000 MILES. DODGE WANTED OVER 600 DOLLARS TO REPLACE AND SAID THE ORIGINAL RECALL DID NOT EFFECT MY MODEL. PURCHASED A SECOND ALTERNATOR FROM AUTOZONE BUT IT WAS DEAD OUT OF THE BOX. THIRD ALTERNATOR LASTED FROM SEPTEMBER 2016 TO JULY 2017. INSTALLED FOURTH ALTERNATOR ON 7/15/2017 BUT DIAGNOSTICS SHOWS THE REGULATOR IS FAILING. AUTOZONE IS TELLING ME THAT DODGE HAS OTHER ISSUES CAUSING...
MY CAR HAS CUT OFF AND TURNED RIGHT BACK ON SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THERE ARE 0 ISSUES.

THE DEALER REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE RECALL REPAIR REMEDIES MAY HAVE CAUSED ADDITIONAL FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE BATTERY DIES OVER NIGHT AND I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY CHARGE MY BATTERY, SO WHILE DRIVING I LOSS POWER, BECAUSE OF MY ALTERNATOR.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2013 DODGE CHARGER ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH THE DASH BOARD STARTED ACTING STRANGELY AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON. BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD BE BROUGHT TO A STOP IT LOST ALL POWER AND CONTROL INCLUDING THE ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A SHORT IN THE ALTERNATOR THAT ALSO DEFECTED THE BATTERY. I WAS TOLD BY THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL THAT IDENTIFIES THESE SAME SYMPTOMS, AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE I COULD DO GOING FORWARD WHEN I REQUESTED TO SPEAK WITH A CASE MANAGER INVESTIGATING THESE CASES.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA IT STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER. I EXITED THE VEHICLE NOTICING SMOKE RISING FROM UNDER MY HOOD. IT LOOKED LIKE MY ALTERNATOR IS WHAT WAS SMOKING AND PUTTING OUT A LOT OF HEAT. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES HOPING IT WOULD COOL DOWN. I NOTICED THE SMOKE WAS GETTING WORST AS WELL AS THE HEAT COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I THEN HEARD A CRACKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. IT SOUNDED LIKE ELECTRICITY SNAPPING. I THEN DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND IMMEDIATELY THE SNAPPING STOPPED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 MORE MINS THE SMOKING STOPPED. I SAW THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR IN MY MAKE AND YEAR, BUT WHEN I TYPE IN MY VIN NUMBER IT DOESN'T SHOW THE RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. IVE REACHED OUT TO MY DODGE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME MY CAR DOESN'T HAVE...
THE DENSO ALTERNATOR CAUGHT ON FIRE SMOKE WAS REAL BAD AND IT BURNT THE BATTERY UP THE BATTERY WAS SO HOT YOU COULD NOT GET IT OUT WITH YOUR BARE HANDS.ITS A DENSO 421000-7040 WITH A 180 AMP ALTERNATOR. THE CAR HAS 70,698 MILES ON IT.

WAS DRIVING DODGE CHARGER SXT ON THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND HEARD A WHINING NOISE. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON CONTROL PANEL WENT ON AND OFF AND THERE WAS A SMELL OF BURNING RUBBER. CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WITH MY PREGNANT WIFE AND 1 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR AND ALMOST CAUSE A MAJOR INCIDENT. CAR WENT COMPLETELY DEAD IN MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY AND WOULDN'T EVEN TURN OVER, BUT LUCKILY CAUSED NO INCIDENT. DEALER SAID IT WAS A FAULTY ALTERNATOR ISSUE THAT COMPLETELY DRAINED BATTERY AS WELL. THERE IS A RECALL P60 ON ALTERNATORS FOR THE MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF THE DODGE CHALLENGER SXT, BUT OUR VEHICLE WASN'T COVERED. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR INCIDENT. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A COINCIDENCE AND DODGE NEEDS TO ADD ADDITIONAL VEHICLE COVERAGE UNDER THIS RECALL BEFORE A MAJOR INCIDENT HAPPENS.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. ENTIRE CAR SHUT DOWN. GIVEN 8 SPEED ELECTRONIC GEAR SHIFT, CAR LOCKED INTO PARK WHILE IN OPERATION. IT WAS JUST DETERMINED THE ALTERNATOR FAILURE WAS THE CAUSE OF THIS TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE. NO SUPPORT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.
LOST STEERING AND ACCELERATION WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS OCCURRED WITHIN MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE ENTERED "BATTERY SAVER MODE" AND DISPLAYED THE "BATTERY" ICON ON THE EVIC SCREEN. THIS WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY INDICATION OF A PROBLEM, OTHER THAN THE RADIO NOT WORKING THAT DAY. AFTER PULLING OVER, WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR, EXIT THE HIGHWAY, AND PULL INTO A SERVICE STATION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE INTO PARK, NOR WOULD THE CAR SHUT DOWN, UNTIL THE PUSH-BUTTON IGNITION SWITCH WAS HELD DOWN FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. AN ELECTRICAL TEST REVEALED THAT THE ALTERNATOR HAD FAILED, AND THE BATTERY TESTED GOOD. BOTH THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY ARE THE ORIGINAL FACTORY-INSTALLED PARTS.

I APPROACHED AND WAS ENTERING AN INTERSTATE ON-RAMP AND AS I STARTED TO ACCELERATE THE RADIO AND AC TURNED OFF, ABS LIGHT AND ANTI-SKID ICON APPEARED ON DASH, EXTERIOR LIGHTS ACTED ERRATICALLY DIMMING AND THEN COMING BACK ON, MESSAGE ENVELOPE APPEARED, BELLS WERE RINGING, CAR LOST SUBSTANTIAL POWER ON RAMP AS I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE ONTO INTERSTATE AND THEN "BATTERY SAVER MODE" MESSAGE APPEARED. I COULD HEAR A HIGH PITCHED WHINING NOISE THAT STARTED OUT OF NOWHERE BUT SEEMED TO SUBSIDE AFTER A FEW MINUTES BUT THE CAR SEEMED TO SHAKE OR SHUDDER SOME BUT NOT HORRIBLY. ALMOST LIKE A ROUGH IDLE BUT AS I WAS DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE APPX 5 MILES TO GET OFF THE INTERSTATE AND PARK. ONCE I STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE CAR, I DID RESTART IT TO SEE WHAT...

I DROVE CAR HOME FROM WORK AND IN SECONDS A TERRIBLE SMELL AND BLACK SMOKE FILLED UP THE CAR AND OUT FROM HOOD INTO CAR. I HAD AAA AND EMERGENCY SERVICE, CAR WAS TOWED TO TALLAHASSEE CAR CARE CENTER. I AM JUST PAST MY WARRANTY WITH MOPAR DODGE BUT THIS IS NOT TYPICAL AND SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH ONLY 22K MILES. THIS WAS DANGEROUS AND SCARY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH ON THE ROAD.

DURING THE WAIT, THE CAR'S INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD COME ALIVE, THE PANEL GAUGES WOULD SWIPE ONE TIME AND VARIOUS NOISES COULD BE HEARD AS IF THE CAR WAS STARTING BUT NOTHING WAS GOING ON. THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
