Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE DRIVING, THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WITHIN SECONDS, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING DIMMED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER AND OBSERVED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR OVERCHARGED AND CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V739000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,698.
