THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED EIGHT TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS COMPLETED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THE PART NUMBER TO REPLACE IT IS 68028392AA. THIS PART HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND THEREFORE I AM UNABLE TO PUT MY TOP UP AND DOWN. I HAVE TRIED TO WORK WITH THE LOCAL DEALER AND HAVE EVEN CONTACTED FCA (CHRYSLER ADMINISTRATION). TO DATE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET ANY RESULTS. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP? THANK YOU.

NOW LESS THAN 2 YEARS LATER ON 12/26/17 VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY! WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ON 2 LANE HIGHWAY INSTEAD OF 4 AND ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE THEN TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER (EARNHARDT, CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE, RAM IN GILBERT, AZ) FOR AN N38 RECALL ISSUE (ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT/AIR BAG) THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD RESET THE TIPM MODULE AND WE WERE HOPING TO HAVE THE ISSUE RESOLVED. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT BEFORE WE TOOK IT FOR THE RECALL ISSUE, THE CAR HAD SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE AND MYSTERIOUSLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD TURNED OFF. WELL, LO AND BEHOLD AFTER THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TIPM AND DID THE AIR BAG RECALL WE PICKED UP THE CAR AND MY WIFE IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD REAPPEARED AND THE CAR WAS ONCE AGAIN DRIVING LIKE [XXX]! BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE REPAIR PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,914.

LUCKILY I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT OF MY OFFICE BUILDING. AFTER SPEAKING WITH CHRYSLER I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE THIS PART IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT SEEMS STRANGE TO ME THAT THIS PART ON MY CAR HAD A RECALL FOR THE SOFTWARE A FEW YEARS AGO AND NOW THE HARDWARE IS BAD. I SEE A TON OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY ISSUE INCLUDING A LAWSUIT. IF SAFETY IS OF CONCERN, IT WOULD SEEM LIKE THEY WOULD ANYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO HELP THE CONSUMER.
