TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 328I. THE CONTACT SMELLED BURNING WIRES AND STATED THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR TURNED ON AND OFF AFTER THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE SYMPTOMS WERE SIMILAR TO THOSE LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V676000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC VERIFIED THE FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. BMW PORTLAND (2001 SW JEFFERSON ST, PORTLAND, OR 97201, (971) 340-4590) AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

THE CONTACT WAITED FOR A CALL FOR WEEKS, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE ONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE RECIEVED SEVERAL RECALL LETTERS REGARDING MY VEHICLE. I HAVE NOTICED MY CAR DRIVING DIFFERENTLY, AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE BEING IN THE CAR OR HAVING OTHERS IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE READ THE RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND IT HAS STATED THAT CAR CAN GO ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING OR NOT AND PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I WOULD LIKE TO RETURN THE VEHICLE MY FAMIY AND MY SAFETY COMES FIRST.
BLOWER MOTOR RECALL AND PCV VALVE RECALL. HELLO, I GOT A RECALL NOTIFICATION IN THE E-MAIL FOR THE PCV VALVE AND THE BLOWER MOTOR. I HAD ALREADY TAKEN MY CAR INTO BMW PREVIOUSLY TO HAVE MY VEHICLE WORKED ON BY BMW AND CARMAX FOR PROBLEMS ON THESE PARTS AND RELATING PARTS BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD PLEASE TAKE A DEEPER DIVE INTO MY ISSUE. BMW HAS SAID THEY WILL ONLY REIMBURSE ABOUT $250 WHEN I PAID MUCH MORE THAN THAT BEFORE FOR THE PARTS DIRECTLY AFFECTED AND INDIRECTLY AFFECTED BY FAULTY PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MODULE UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 328I. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THE BATTERY WAS RECHARGED AND THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES, INCLUDING THE WINDOWS NOT FUNCTIONING, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING NOT ILLUMINATING, AND THE TURN SIGNALS NOT OPERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FOOTWELL MODULE (FRM) WAS FAULTY. THE FRM WAS REPROGRAMMED, BUT THE ELECTRICAL FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (CENTURY WEST BMW, 4245 LANKERSHIM BLVD, NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
AFTER GETTING MY CAR SERVICED AT TOM BUSH I HAD SEVERAL NEW ALERTS GO OFF FOR SENSORS GOING OUT AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT RESULTED IN MORE THAN $3,000 IN REPAIRS I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. I CAME TO FIND OUT THESE ELEMENTS WERE CAUSED BY 2 OF THE OPEN RECALLS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE KEPT OVERHEATING AND CAUSED SENSORS ETC TO BURN OUT. I CALLED THE NUMBER PROVIDED IN DOCUMENTATION I RECEIVED AFTER REPAIRS HAD BEEN MADE AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. I ASKED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP WHAT TO DO SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS ALREADY AFFECTED AND I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THE REP SAID TO CONTACT THE BMW SERVICE CENTER FOR ASSISTANCE. I CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER SEVERAL TIMES AND EVEN CALLED AND LEFT VOICEMAILS FOR THE GENERAL MANAGER OF THE SERVICE CENTER ONLY TO NEVER RECEIVE A CALL BACK FROM...
MY BMW WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF WHEN IT STARTED ON FIRE. IT WAS PARKED IN A SOCCER FIELD AT CAMP MINIKANI ON JULY 1, 2018 IN RICHFIELD, WISCONSIN. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID THE FIRE WAS CAUSED IN THE BLOWER MOTOR UNDER THE DASH. BMW HAD A RECALL ON THIS CAR, AT THE TIME OF FIRE, WHICH THEY REFUSED TO FIX. I RECEIVED AN INITIAL NOTICE FROM BMW IN NOVEMBER OF 2017. AFTER RECEIVING THE NOTICE I PHONED BMW WHO SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AND WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN THEY DID. IN THE MEANTIME MY CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THE FIRE.

WHEEL SPEED SENSORS FAIL UNDER HARD BREAKING HAPPENED 2 TIMES CAR BRAKES ABS AND ANTI SWERVE SYSTEM STOP WORKING AND BREAKING IS AFFECTED HARD PEDDLE STOPPING DISTANCE AFFECTED. BMW REPLACED THEM UNDER WARRANTEE BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE THE 2 THAT ARE WORKING UNTIL THEY FAIL. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR FOR SCHOOL AND IT IS A SAFETY HANSARD THAT BMW WILL NOT REPLACE. HAPPENED TWICE ONCE IN TOWN THE OTHER TIME ON HIGHWAY HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO DEALER BOTH TIMES.
POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER : THIS RECALL INVOLVES AN ENGINE COMPONENT KNOWN AS THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER. THE PCV VALVE HEATER MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PRODUCED TO SPECIFICATIONS. OVER TIME, IT COULD DETERIORATE AND, IN RARE CASES, COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING. SAFETY RISK: IF OVERHEATING OCCURS, THEN IN RARE CASES, THIS COULD LEAD TO MELTING OF THE PCV VALVE. IN EXTREMELY RARE CASES, THIS COULD LEAD TO A FIRE. REMEDY: THE PCV VALVE HEATER WILL BE INSPECTED AND A NEW PART WILL BE INSTALLED. IF NECESSARY, ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS WILL BE REPLACED AS DETERMINED AT THE TIME OF REPAIR. SINCE THEN, MANUFACTURER HAS NOT MADE ANY SINCERE EFFORT TO GIVE DUE REMEDY AND IGNORE CONSUMERS' REQUEST FOR THE NECESSARY FIX TO PREVENT DANGER AND TO PROTECT CONSUMERS FROM BODILY INJURY INCLUDING DEATH.

I RECEIVED INITIAL NOTICE OF IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL FROM BMW NOVEMBER 2017, #1 NO. 17V-676 BLOWER MOTOR WIRING, AND #2 NO. 17V-683 PCV VALVE HEATER. BMW RECALL. MY CAR WAS IN THE PARKING LOT OF MY EMPLOYMENT. I WENT OUT TO MY CAR - THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE CAR WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE AND SOOT. FINALLY CALLED BMW USA AND WAS TOLD NO PARTS AVAILABLE UNTIL LATE SPRING OR EARLY SUMMER??!! MEANWHILE, ARTICLE IN THE LA TIMES SAID THAT REPAIRS WOULD BEGIN IN DECEMBER, 2017 AND QUOTED A BMW OFFICIAL AS ADVISING "PARK YOUR CAR OUTSIDE" (IN CASE THE THING JUST IGNITES BY ITSELF WHILE PARKED?). --AND FOR THOSE OF US WHO CANNOT DO THAT? DRIVING AT 65 MPH THE DASH BOARD WENT CRAZY. ALL THE BELLS AND LIGHTS WERE FLASHING AND ODOMINTER AND TACK , GAS , ENGINE TEMP ALL WERE FLASHING AND GOING TO 0 AND BACK AGIAN. ALL THOUGH THE CAR WAS STILL IN MOTION I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT WHAT SPEED I WAS GOING. I PULLED OF THE NEXT EXIT AND THOUGHT TO LET THE ENGINE COOL. 45 MINUTES LATER BACK ON THE HIGHWAY IT STARTED AGAIN. THE VEHICLES RDC MODULE THAT COMMUNICATES TO THE TPMS GETS WET AND CAUSES A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. THIS MODULE ON IS LOCATED UNDER THE PASSENGER REAR WHEEL SPLASH SHIELD ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND IS EXPOSED TO ELEMENTS. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN AND LOCATION. FAILURE HAPPENED DURING VEHICLE OPERATION AND EVEN WHEN OFF AND IT CAUSES COMPLETE LOSS OF ALL SAFETY FUNCTION. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WHEN RESEARCHING ONLINE.
PCV VALVE HEATER REPLACEMENT. THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY FOR THE RECALL, WHICH WAS MEANT TO START DECEMBER 18TH. AS INSTRUCTED, I HAVE BEEN PARKING MY CAR OUTSIDE (IN CASE IT CATCHES FIRE) SINCE NOVEMBER. I LIVE IN ROCHESTER, NY AND THE SNOWY WEATHER IS PROBABLY FURTHER DAMAGING MY VEHICLE.
