Power steering went out. I was driving and I was on the freeway and the steering wouldn't move like it should. It became very hard to steer so I exited off the highway and pulled in to a store barely missing the sign. I call a friend and had the car towed home and looked at. I was told the eps went out. The next time I started the car it said power steering on the odometer. The dealership said the recall was closed out already. But I still have no ability to steer the car. It sits unrepaired and I undrivable.
While driving the car has issues with power steering when turning the wheel either direction the steering will lose power steering and jerk the opposite direction turning. I have almost been in numerous accidents now the worst going 75 on highway passing semi around a corner and it jerked and almost sent me right not the semi. This has happened numerous times as I was passing vehicles. Its not a steady no power steering it will do it out of the blue and anymore it's more times than not and again only when turning the wheel. It's scary. Our vin # isn't specified with the recall but has serious power steering issue. No warning lamps or anything like that. We have not had this vehicle inspected yet by a dealership. As far as the incident date it's not one specific date. It does this every day the car is driven.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Ion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering column became inoperable, and the steering wheel locked up. The contact stated that the power steering warning light was illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle and turned the vehicle off. The contact stated restarted the vehicle and was able to safely drive to her destination. The contact stated that the failure had occurred twice within six months. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 139,000.
MY STEERING COLUMN IS ALL MESSED UP, CAN CAUSE ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR. ALSO YEAR OF CAR WAS RECALLED A COUPLE YEARS AGO FOR THE SAME REASON AND SADLY ENOUGH MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. I SLIGHTLY WAS GOING OFF THE CURVE TO THE RIGHT I TURNED THE WHEEL TO GET STRAIGHT THE STEERING WENT OUT I LOST CONTROL I MASHED BREAKS AND NOTHING STOPPED THE CAR VEERED TO THE RIGHT CRASHING INTO A UTILITY POLE, FLIPPED AND THE FRONT DRIVER TIRE, HUB AND AXE CAME COMPLETELY OFF IT WAS NOT STRUCK BY THE POLE. I WAS ON A COUNTY ROAD I BE]BELIEVE THAT THE SUSPENSION WENT OUT AS WELL I KNOW THE STEERING DID I HAD NO CONTROL.
KEY STUCK IN IGNITION WHEN PARK . THE ONLY WAY TO REPLACE IT BY REPLACE BUTTON UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL.

IN JANUARY 2016 WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY TO WORK I HAD BEAR TO THE RIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION FROM 1-90 TO 1-76, WHEELS/STEERING LOCKED OR SOMETHING AND I ENDED UP SPINNING OFF ROADWAY. HIT DIVISION EMBANKMENT CRASHING FRONT END AND MY AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. TRACTION IN THE CAR I LATER FOUND OUT WAS NOT ENGAGING WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. NOW CAR'S TRACTION DOES NOT WORK IF IT EVER REALLY DID. I OWN A 2007 SATURN ION, I RECENTLY STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE STEERING, THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY TIGHT AND WHEN I MAKE A TURN I NEED TO PHYSICALLY TURN THE WHEEL BACK IF I DON'T THE CAR WILL CONTINUE GOING IN THE DIRECTION I WAS TURNING. I PURCHASED MY CAR IN 2013 FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER I DID RECEIVE THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH BUT NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE 14V15300. WHEN I ENTER MY VIN# IT SHOWS THAT THERE NO RECALLS.I DRIVE 36 MILES A DAY FOR WORK, I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT BUT IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT THAT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE AND THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE.
I WAS ON MY WAY HOME JUST GETTING OFF HIGHWAY WITH SPEED LIMIT OF 65 MPH, WHEN I PARKED AT LOCAL GROCERY STORE NEAR MY HOME. PARKED IN STALL FINE BUT ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER I FOUND UPON ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE OUT OF THE STALL, I COULD HARDLY TURN MY CAR TO MAKE IT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY DRIVE IT HOME HOPING IT WOULD CORRECT ITSELF THEN NOTICING POWERED STEERING LIGHT ON DASH. ON ARRIVAL TO MY HOME I PARKED BACKWARDS IN FEAR OF GETTING STUCK. I THEN TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO TURN ON AND OFF THE CAR WITH NO CHANGE IN STEERING OR DASHBOARD LIGHT. FORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENED LITERALLY A MILE OFF THE HIGHWAY WHICH I COULD HAVE EASILY GOTTEN INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH MUCH HIGHER SPEEDS AND NO CONTROL TO DRIVE THE AUTOMOBILE.
I HIT MY BRAKES TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT MY CAR WENT TO LEFT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER CAR. I FOUND OUT THAT STRUTS SHIFTED AND CAUSING THE UPPER CONTROL ARM TO SNAP AND BRAKE OFF CAUSING MY CAR TO GO TO THE LEFT INTO ANOTHER CAR. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILED THIS MORNING. NO WARNING AND NO PREVIOUS ISSUES. IT WORKED ONE MOMENT THEN DIDN'T THE NEXT. PWR STR CAME ON THE DASH ALERTS. I SAW A 2014 RECALL YET MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED.

FRONT DRIVER'S SEATBELT IS DIFFICULT TO SNAP IN. POWER STEERING WORKS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AND BRAKING
MY COMPLAINT NUMBER IS 11061303 I COMPLAIN ABOUT POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE. I GUESS WHEN THEY DID THE IGNITION RECALL AND I BROUGHT IT IN THEY SUPPOSEDLY DID THE POWER STEERING TOO ON DEC 12 2014 . EVEN IF THEY DID THIS THE POWER STEERING SHOULD NOT GO BAD IN 3 YEARS. MY CAR IS GARAGE KEPT.
POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND LOST STEERING FOUND OUT THEY HAD RECALL NEVER WAS INFORMED OF THE MATTER OR RECALL. THE RECALL REMEDY CAUSED A FAILURE AND NO SOLUTION PERTAINING TO THE IGNITION SWITCH, WHICH ALSO AFFECTED THE STEERING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, STEERING COLUMN, AND IGNITION. THE DEALER ALSO PROVIDED TWO KEYS THAT WERE TO BE REPROGRAMMED; HOWEVER, THEY FAILED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE KEY FOB. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN AND THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THREE LOCKSMITHS. SINCE HAVING THE RECALLS FOR THE IGNITION DONE - WHEN THE CAR IS PLACED IN PARK I HAVE TO PULL THE SHIFTER TOWARD REVERSE TO GET THE KEY OUT. ALSO SINCE THE RECALLS WERE DONE ALL THE SUDDEN MY STEERING RACK IS MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE WHICH MY MECHANIC IS SAYING WILL SOON NEED REPLACED. IT WAS PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE THE RECALLS FOR THE IGNITION AND SUCH WERE DONE ON MY CAR. LITERALLY THE DAYS AFTER IS WHEN IT STARTED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT IS BECAUSE MY CAR IS OLD. NOT BUYING THAT ANSWER. ALL OF THIS HAS TO BE TIED TO A RECALL, I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY CAR. I JUST HAD THE CONTROL ARMS REPLACED AS WELL AND THE MECHANIC SAID THEY WERE NEAR DISINTEGRATED!

STEERING RANDOMLY FAILS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN, AS IF IT "STICKS" AND I HAVE TO FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO CENTER. I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF THE DRIVER HAD TO MAKE AN EVASIVE MENOUVER OR IS INEXPERIENCED AND NOT EXPECTING IT TO FAIL. THIS OCCURS WHILE MOVING, AND WHILE PARKED, ON ANY STREET OR HIGHWAY.
MY CAR HAD THE POWER STEERING MOTOR REPLACED UNDER A SAFETY RECALL IN 2012. NOW THE SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AGAIN, AND THE POWER STEERING MOTOR HAS GONE OUT. I MISSED THE SPECIAL EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS BY 2 DAYS - IT EXPIRED ON 3/27/17, AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN ON MY CAR ON 3/29/17. NOW I'M TOLD IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED AGAIN UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF A PART IS COVERED UNDER A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE IT CAN FAIL, IS REPLACED, THEN FAILS AGAIN, THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM WITH THAT PART BEING USED IN THE CAR. IT SHOULD STILL BE ABLE TO BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE TO THE OWNERS. I KNOW THAT FOR 2003 SATURN ION THE RECALL APPIES TO THE LIFE OF THE CAR.
I HAVE A SATURN ION AND I AM HAVING AN ISSUE DESCRIBED IN A RECALL. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO A GM DEALER AND CALLED THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO HONOR THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE LOSSES POWER STEERING PERIODICALLY AND IT IS VERY SCARY TO DRIVE.

I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO ACTIVE RECALL.
SATURN ION 2007 RECALL THE OTHER DAY I GOT AN ALERT ON THE DISPLAY OF MY CAR THAT STATED "PWR STRG" I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE KILLED MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN AND MYSELF. WE WERE TERRIFIED. I WAS ABLE TO GET ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY BY FORCING THE STIRRING WHEEL TO TURN. I THEN LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD TO SEE IF I HAD A LEAK OF POWER STIRRING FLUID BUT TO MY SURPRISE DID NOT FIND ANYWHERE THAT WOULD INDICATE SUCH A THING. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON TO SEE WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM THE MSG WAS GONE. SUDDEN POWER STEERING FAILURE, THE STEERING CONTINUED TO WORK BUT WITHOUT THE POWER ASSIST. WE WERE ATTEMPTING TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, VERY LOW SPEED, TURNING. THIS RESET WITH SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING. GM/SATURN STATE THIS IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL.

LOSS OF POWER STEERING AGAIN. THIS WILL BE MY THIRD RECALL REPLACEMENT PART. POWER STEERING HAS FAILED AND REPAIRED BY 2 GM DEALERSHIPS. GM SUGGESTED FOR SAFETY REASONS TOWING CAR WOULD BE ADVISED BUT GUESS WHO HAS TO PAY FOR THE TOWING ME NOT GM WHO MANUFACTURER UNSAFE VEHICLES. NHTSA YOU'VE LOST INTEREST IN HELPING AND MOVED ON TO THE NEXT MANUFACTURER AIR BAG PROBLEM. I NOW UNDERSTAND WHAT RISK MEANS. MY CAR FALLS IN THAT RISK PERCENTAGE.

POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE OR CONTROL IGNITION SWITCH REPAIRED THIS IS JUST AS DANGEROUS MODELS PONTIAC G AND CHEVY COBALTS HAVE SAME POWER STEERING MODULE AND WERE RECALLED NOT SATURN MODELS.

A GENERAL MOTOR RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED IN THE PAST FOR A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ONLY ON CERTAIN VEHICLES IN THE PAST YEAR. A PROBLEM IS CORROSION OF THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MODULE AND THE TORQUE SENSOR CONNECTOR MAY CAUSE A LOSS OF THE POWER STEERING. THIS WILL CAUSE GREATER OPERATING POWER BY THE DRIVER UNDER LOW SPEED DRIVING AND CAUSES A GREATER CHANCE OF AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH BECAUSE THE DIFFICULTY IN DRIVING A VEHICLE EFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM. GM HAS MADE THIS A RECALL TO BE FIXED IN THE DEALER, BUT ONLY CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE SATURN ION WAS INVOLVED, AND I HAD IT CORRECTED, BUT WHAT I EXPERIENCED BEFORE, IS BACK AGAIN, AND I BELIEVE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST IS DEFECTIVE AGAIN. MANY RECALLS IN THE PAST HAVE BEEN REOCCURRING ISSUES WITH VEHICLES, AND THIS MAY BE ANOTHER ONE.

WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO AVOID A VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED IN THE ROADWAY, THE IGNITION KEY BECAME JARRED AND MOVED TO THE OFF POSITION, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SWITCH LANES; HOWEVER, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO FUNCTION WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK, SHOULDER, AND LOWER BACK THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E021000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.

THERE IS A BOSH/CDR REPORT FROM ESIS OF GENERAL MOTORS OUTLINING THE DATA RECEIVED FROM THE CRASH FOR NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG. MR. SEGOVIA OF GM STATED THAT THE AIRBAG SHOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED BASED ON THE STATISTIC FROM THIS REPORT. I DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT HE HAS STATED.
