TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN IGNITION RECALL. AS A PART OF THE REPAIR, A NEW IGNITION KEY WAS PROVIDED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE CONTACT WAS STILL ABLE TO USE THE OLD IGNITION KEY, BUT CONTINUED TO USE THE REPLACEMENT KEY INSTEAD. THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING A FAILURE WITH THE NEW IGNITION KEY AS IT WOULD NOT EJECT FROM THE IGNITION WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY TO DIE AND THE VEHICLE TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 384,027.
THE CAR FAILING TO START ON THE FIRST IGNITION CYCLE AND A SMELL OF FUEL WHILE DRIVING AND AFTER THE CAR AS TURNED OFF WAS NOTICED. A WEEK LATER FUEL IS NOW CONSIDERABLY LEAKING FROM NEAR THE REAR OF THE CAR. A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM ON THE 2007 ION, BUT ONLY IN CERTAIN STATES, ILLINOIS NOT INCLUDED. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND YET ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PART/SYSTEM FROM SATURN/GM. AS GM DEALERSHIPS ARE BOOKED REPAIRING THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES, I HAVE TO WAIT OVER A WEEK FOR THE REPAIR TO GET LOOKED AT. THE CHOICE IS NOW RISKING FIRE/EXPLOSION ON THE CAR AS THE LEAK IS VERY NEAR THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE OR NOT GOING TO WORK FOR A WEEK. *JS
MY VEHICLE HAD 3 RECALLS FROM GM. AFTER THE DEFECTS WERE REPAIRED ON 10-8-14, THE VEHICLE STILL HAS PROBLEMS. THE KEY IGNITION IS STILL DEFECTIVE. MOST OF THE TIMES, WHEN I PARK THE CAR THE KEY DOESN'T COME OUT. I HAVE TO TURN ON AND OFF THE CAR TO HAVE IT REMOVE. I FEEL SO UNSAFE ON THIS CAR. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS GIVEN A CASE FILE# [XXX], WHICH TO THIS DATE HASN'T CONTACTED ME. I CALLED AGAIN TODAY, AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY ASSIGNED A SENIOR ADVISOR TO MY CASE NAMED [XXX] AT 1-866-790-5600 EXT# [XXX], WHICH DID NOT RESPONSE. I SPOKE WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP NAMES [XXX] AND SHE STATED THAT HE WAS NOT RESPONDING AND OFFERED TO TRANSFERRED MY CALL TO HIS VOICE MAIL, WHICH I DID. I WAITED FOR SO LONG FOR THE PARTS, DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT IT TO...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WHEN THE IGNITION WAS TURNED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN A VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS TRAVELING 50-55 MPH AND HAD TIME TO BRIEFLY APPLY THE BRAKES. THE RESULTING COLLISION DESTROYED THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY CAR. I WAS SHOCKED THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY BUT AT THE TIME WAS UNAWARE MY CAR HAD SERIOUS POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUES. SINCE BECOMING AWARE OF THE RECALL I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SIMULATE THE IGNITION FAILURE BY JOSTLING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. I HAVE FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTION SENT TO ME BY GM IN REGARDS TO THE RECALL PROCESS AND HAVE HEARD NOTHING BACK FROM MY GM DEALER 3 MONTHS SINCE CALLING TO ARRANGE BRINGING MY VEHICLE IN. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
AFTER BEING VERBALLY TOLD AND IN WRITING THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH MY CAR AFTER THE IGNITION RECALL KIT WAS INSTALLED, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BEFORE I COULD EVEN EXIT THE SERVICE DEALERSHIP LOT. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED THE CAR TO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHICH RESULTED IN GOING FROM NO CHARGES, EVERYTHING IS OK, TO MY CAR MYSTERIOUSLY MAY HAVE A CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE AND IT WILL COST ME $2,000 TO REPAIR. GENERAL MOTORS HAS AND CONTINUES TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND BY PLACING ME ON HOLD AND TRANSFERRING ME TO CALL CENTERS IN INDIA. THIS NIGHTMARE I HAVE ENDURED SINCE 6/6/2014 TO NOW IS A SHAME AND OUTRIGHT CRIMINAL IN MY OPINION. SHE WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, SHE WAS ABLE TO RELEASE THE CLUTCH WHICH STOPPED THE ENGINE FROM RUNNING. SHE HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO KEEP IF FROM DYING.

THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND HE WAS UNABLE CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. HE WAS ONLY ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AFTER THE POWER STEERING RESET. I DRIVE A 2007 SATURN ION, AND FROM WHAT I CAN TELL ONLINE THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM THAT GM HAS AND IT HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED OR RECALLED. I GOT HOME FROM WORK AND WENT TO TURN THE KEY OFF AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF. THE KEY WAS STUCK. I HAVE TALKED TO SEVERAL GM DEALERS AND THEY ALL SAY IT'S A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM BUT STILL EXPECT ME TO PAY AROUND 500 DOLLARS TO FIX IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 SATURN ION. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 70 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST THEN FAILED AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY. WHEN RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE UNKNOWN REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR. IN ADDITION, THE IGNITION ALSO FAILED AND IN ORDER TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, THE BATTERY AND A FUSE HAD TO BE DISCONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS OF THE IGNITION FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
THE FOLLOWING EVENT OCCURRED ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2010 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:45 P.M. WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 SATURN ION. I DROVE TO THE SERVICE STATION FOR GAS. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN OFF MY CAR, THE KEY WOULD NOT BUDGE. THE IGNITION WAS LOCKED. I CALLED THE SATURN DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED, BUT I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE MY CAR THERE AND SOMEONE WOULD DISABLE MY CAR. THE BATTERY CABLES HAD TO BE DISCONNECTED TO TURN OFF THE CAR. IN ORDER TO REPAIR MY CAR, THE WHOLE IGNITION HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER A BRIEF INTERNET SEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT; IT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER SATURN ION OWNERS. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CAR A YEAR AGO-BRAND NEW. TWO DAYS AGO I PULLED UP TO WORK AND WENT TO TURN MY CAR OFF. THE KEY WOULD NOT COMPLETELY TURN ALL THE WAY AND WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE WHEEL WAS NOT LOCKED, SO THIS WAS NOT THE CAUSE. IT HAS BEEN THREE DAYS NOW AND IT CONTINUES TO OCCUR. IT IS ON AND OFF, BUT THE FACT REMAINS THAT THERE IS A CLEAR ISSUE. I EVEN WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. APPARENTLY SO. I FOUND NUMEROUS FORUMS AND COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE PURCHASED THE SAME MODEL CAR AND HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THEY ALSO STATED THAT WHEN CONTACTING THE DEALER, THEY ALREADY KNEW AND WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE EXACT ISSUE. CLEARLY THIS IS A DEFECT AND I HAVE NOT BOTHERED TAKING THE CAR IN BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM...
MY KEY BECAME LOCKED IN THE IGNITION WHILE MY SATURN ION2 WAS ENGAGED. NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED, THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO SHUT THE CAR OFF. I DROVE TO A MECHANIC AND HE ALSO HAD NO IDEA HOW TO DISENGAGE MY CAR. I THEN DROVE A NEARBY SATURN DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM AND INFORMED ME THAT THIS KIND OF MALFUNCTION HAPPENED OFTEN IN SATURN IONS. HE INFORMED ME THAT THE ONLY WAY TO DISENGAGE THE CAR WHEN THE KEY IS LOCKED IS TO OPEN THE HOOD OF THE CAR (WHILE IT IS RUNNING) AND DISCONNECT THE MAIN FUSE FROM THE BATTERY. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS A TENDENCY OF RECURRING BECAUSE THE IGNITION PART IS DEFECTIVE. THE SATURN MECHANIC FIXED THE IGNITION LOCK WHICH COST A TOTAL OF 330$ INCLUDING PART AND LABOR. *TR

GOOGLED PROBLEM AND ON THE CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM WEBSITE THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. SATURN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THE IGNITION. CAR IS IN SHOP NOW. THE ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE IS THAT IT WILL RANDOMLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING, REFUSE TO START. THE KEY WILL NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION. IT IS COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE AND HAPPENS IN BOTH WARM AND COLD WEATHER. SOMETIMES WAITING 20 MINUTES AND TRYING AGAIN TAKES CARE OF THE ISSUE. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, IT DOES NOT. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE FUSE SO FAR. IT CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM. IT CAN HAPPEN AT THE FIRST START IN THE MORNING, OR AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR SOME TIME, AND THEN SHUT OFF (EG. STOPPING AT A STORE OR TO GET FUEL) AND THEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART. THIS HAS LEFT ME AND MY YOUNG CHILD STRANDED MORE THAN ONCE IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES AND EXTREME HEAT AND IS A RISK TO OUR LIVES! *TR
I ARRIVED AT WORK IN MY 2007 SATURN ION ON AUG 29TH, 2008 AND TRIED TO TURN OFF MY VEHICLE BUT THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULDN'T TURN TO THE OFF POSITION OR COME OUT OF THE LOCK. I CONTACTED GM ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY TOWED MY CAR BUT SAY THAT THEY ARE NOT LIABLE TO PAY THE $500.00 REPAIR COSTS REQUIRED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION AND HOUSING. I JUST SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND 20 PAGES OF SIMILAR(ALMOST EXACTLY) ACCOUNTS OCCURRING WITH THE SATURN ION AND OTHER SATURN VEHICLES AND YET THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL. PLEASE RESEARCH THESE EVENTS. THE MORE I RESEARCH, THE MORE I REALIZE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH SATURN VEHICLES AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THANK YOU. *TR

2007 SATURN ION I HAVE PUT A LITTLE OVER 5,000 MILES ON IT . CALLED THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 45-60 DAYS ABOUT KEY STICKING IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THEY SAID DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. DIRTY KEY, OR WE WILL GET BACK TO YOU. PAST WEEKEND DID THE SAME THING BUT KEY WOULD NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO SHUT OFF OR DO ANYTHING. AFTER CALLING THEIR ROAD SIDE SERVICE AND ON HOLD FOR OVER 90 MIN BEFORE SOMEONE ANSWERED AND THEN ANOTHER HOUR TRYING TO GET SOME HELP. TOW TRUCK CAME ALMOST 3 HOURS AFTER MY ORIGINAL CALL TO THEM ALL ALONG THE CAR RUNNING AND BURNING GAS. SAYING THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THAT SATURN IS AWARE OF IT AND DO NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. SEEMS TO BE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME SUBJECT EVERYWHERE. *TR
MY COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO MY 2007 SATURN ION. THE KEY GOT LOCKED IN THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. MY RELATIVE THEN HAD TO PULL THE FUSE TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND THEN DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO TURN IT OFF. I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE KEY BEING STUCK IN THE IGNITION FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS, BUT I WOULD USUALLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL OR SWITCH GEARS A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF. *TR
I PURCHASED A USED 2007 SATURN ION IN JULY OF 2007. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO (IF THAT) I HAD TO REPLACE MY IGNITION CYLINDER BECAUSE WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVE WAY I COULD NOT TURN THE KEY OFF. A FEW DAYS AGO I WENT TO THE STORE AND AS I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AGAIN, IT WOULD NOT TURN. I HAVE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER IGNITION CYLINDER AND HAVE IT REPLACED AGAIN!!!
