The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH with the Adaptive Cruise Control engaged, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal to overtake another vehicle; however, after overtaking the other vehicle, the vehicle continued to accelerate independently. The contact depressed the brake pedal; however, the vehicle decelerated temporarily and continued to accelerate independently. The contact pulled to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, the dealer informed the contact that the recall repair was previously performed on the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that a fee would be charged for the repair. The vehicle was not...
ABS breaking failure/warning on an intermittent but ongoing basis. Specifically, repeated failures of anti-lock brake modulator valve that causes ABS system to not function properly. Sometimes the ABS warning light flashes on and off, sometimes it stays on for weeks. RAM knows about the problem with part number 68143491AA. They replaced it for me once on 3/1/2022 at 50,650 miles but put in the exact same failing part. It started to fail again September 2, 2023. I had it diagnosed 11/21/2023 (as soon as I could get it in). It's the exact same issue. These vehicles are hazardous to drive. They have a replacement part now 68143491AB, but they refuse to pay for the repair leaving customers to to afford the expensive repair, drive the vehicles in an unsafe condition, or not use the vehicle at all.
ABS module and HCU. Very hard to stop and kicks off cruise control all of a sudden. It was replaced 1 year ago less than 7000 miles and it went out again
Abs pump failure intermittent loss of braking system and traction
The ABS module/HCU is faulty just like thousands of others who are reporting this same issue. Tested with an expensive scan tool by a certified mechanic AND the local dodge dealership in Greenwood SC. Dealership doesn't have the parts to fix it and can't tell me when parts will be available. The warning lights on the dash come and go but are on 75% of the time. This is EXTREMELY dangerous because when the lights come on it kicks the cruise control off suddenly. VERY unsafe on the interstate in traffic doing 85MPH. I'm surprised myself or no one else has been killed due to this.
ABS control module pump/Hydraulic control module. 49000 miles. ABS lights/Service Electronic braking. No parts available for repair. On indefinite back order from Mopar. This problem needs to be solved. Thanks
Problem #1- I had to replace the ABS module and HCU on this truck at about 10k miles. (this was completed under warranty). Then at 50k miles truck was diagnosed with the same problem. I had to pay out of pocket for this repair. I ordered these parts from the dealer in November 2021, and they did not get me in until August 19, 2023. I had to pay ($1152.33). This is very dangerous when it has this error it causes the service sabitrac and service abs pop up on the display nonstop with no way to clear it. It also chimes every time. it is very distracting. while these service lights are on, I had no cruise control or traction control. Problem # 2 Transmission over drive failed. I had to replace transmission and transfer case. This makes for an unsafe vehicle that could leave me stranded on the...
The abs HCU has failed for the second time. This happened at 37,000 miles and has happened again at 61,000 miles. Factory mopar parts were installed after the first failure. Now parts are unavailable. I have no abs, traction control or cruise control.
The HCU/ABS system in my truck is acting up and intermittent. Causing ABS to not work and making beeping noises on and off while driving. Also causes the cruise control to not work.
The service light for a electronic Brake System as well as the light for Electronic ABS system started blinking on and off numerous times. I called the dealer to make an appointment and had to wait 2 months to get it in for service. When I got it in for service they told me the issue. They said it will be covered under my extended warranty. However, the part is in Engineering hold and is not available for ordering untill February 22, 2024. I need my truck. Can't wait 5 months for it to be ordered and shipped. That is if they release for orders in the 21st. Now my truck is setting in the dealer back lot, unsafe to drive they have told me. This all started while driving. Fortunately I didn't have an accident or and incident before getting it to the dealership.
Failure of ABS pump module and ABS electrical connection has taken place and is available for inspection. This failure has caused failure of my ABS system, traction control system as well as my ability to use my trailer brakes when hauling which I have to do on a regular basis which in turn puts all drivers around me in danger as well as myself and any passengers I have while driving. Problem is repeated on a fairly regular basis however I am unable to know when it will or will not occur. It has been looked at by a service center with codes sent to local dealership who stated “those parts are under engineering review and are unable to be ordered through normal procedures” however he stated he would be able to put in a special request to Mopar to get one of the “under review” parts sent to his...
Electronic braking system warning, antilock braking system warning lights come on intermittently, dinging warning off,on.Talked to dealer last Oct.2022 no recall or parts available, spoke again Sept.2023 and same story,no parts,no recall.Stated that there should be a recall due the number of complaints.I use the truck as it was intended to pull trailers.Problem started at 36,000 miles, currently has 38,000 miles.
Electronic braking system and ABS lights intermittently come on and off an throws a code c0020-01 which many dealers say should replace the HCU and ABS modules and research has shown that this if a short-term fix on a fault component. Please hold ram to task.
C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical failure (brake, module). Intermittent loss of braking performance.
While driving the trucks ABS and wheel speed sensor warning lights will intermittently alarm. While alarming I do not have ABS or cruise control function.
The service antilock brake system/ service electronic braking system lights began turning on and off intermittently around August of 2022. These would sometimes be prompted or exacerbated by wet driving conditions or bumps, but often just at random while driving. At the beginning of the issue, vehicle had roughly 48,000 miles. After paying for diagnosis, the failed part was deemed to be the ABS pump motor-general electrical failure, code C0020-0 as well as code C006C-9A for stability system component failure. Being RAM dealer-only parts and needing software flashes for installation, this repair costs between $1000 and $2000 USD. This failure leaves these HD trucks without ABS systems (functioning systems are required in many states for vehicle safety inspections). The cherry on top of this situation is the replacement parts are unavailable nation-wide as FCA "switches manufactures". This leaves the ABS inoperable and the trucks completely unsafe with absolutely NO alternative...
Service Electronic Brake system and ABS unavailable lights constantly. Brakes locked up while towing a trailer. This apparently is a known problem that Ram refuses to recall. $1500 to $1800 to fix a known faulty part is unreasonable and is going to make people choose to continue to drive with the warning light on because it is too expensive to repair.
HCU for ABS brake system has now failed for a second time. They can not even supply a part to repair. Now on back order hold til 02/2024. So I have to risk driving with no abs system until then and not certain if it will be extended again. This is a known issue for RAM. They should fix this and put out a recall and reimburse me for time and repairs. I hope no one gets killed for this. Alot of Rams on the road just like me now.
Service electronic braking system and service ABS System is intermittently coming on and off with the vehicle every time it is driven.
HCU failure causing abs faults and traction control faults, intermittently. Part required is not available and dealerships Say this is an ongoing issue with these trucks. Just hit 50,000 miles on vehicle, changed front brakes, Rotors and pads as well as the front Wheel Speed Sensors.
While towing with my 2017 RAM 2500 the "Service electronic braking system" and "Service antilock braking system" began to intermittently flash on my gauge cluster/instrument panel. The message and lights would continually flash on and off while driving over various road conditions (rough, smooth, flat, inclines, declines). My families safety (myself, wife and son) was at risk with the potential for a brake or braking system failure while towing our travel trailer, as well as the safety of others on the road around us in the event of our braking system failing. I began doing research on this error message and found the NHTSA investigation and link to report the issue. I am going to speak to my local dealer today 8/24/23 regarding repairs.
My 2017 Ram 2500 Cummins pick-up truck started displaying symptoms of a bad HCU module several months ago, "Service Electronic Braking System" warning message, ABS dash light indicating loss of ABS, and Traction Control Light indicating loss of traction control, as well as kicking the vehicle out of Cruise Control when this set of condition lights are, albeit intermittently illuminated. There are times where these condition light persist for long periods of time from several hours to several days, and then times when these condition lights aren't present and will only intermittently come on and then times when these lights blink/ding on and off constantly for several minutes until it comes to rest in an always on state or an intermittent state. After having the issue confirmed by a third-party reputable mechanic shop AND a RAM Dealership Service department I was told the module is on backorder. Being that it...
Service antilock braking system and service electric braking system constantly flashes off and on as if there is a short and all I can do apparently (according to the dealer) is replace the module which is Astronomically priced! Apparently there are a lot of people having this issue. As far as the steering it has been loose since the beginning as there is 2½" of play and everyone blames the steering box but I have invested way to much chasing the problem with no luck.
72,000 miles on vehicle. Received error messages - service electronic brake system and service abs brake system. The error is intermittent and causes loss of ABS functionality and a potential safety hazard. The repair is to replace the ABS system Module (68437098AB) and the ABS Modulator (68143491AA). This is not a small repair. From reading on the internet, this is component defect and a reoccurring problem on these vehicles, and the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge this as a problem. I am recommending that the NHTSA consider this as a recall.
ABS CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FAILING. REPLACED COMPONENTS IN 2021 AND 2022 AND FAILING AGAIN IN 2023. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF THESE UNITS FAIL THEN IT CAUSES LOSS OF ANTILOCK BRAKING AND SPEED CONTROL
Turn on the truck and the ABS/Traction Control lights are off, drive the truck, and with no consistency, the ABS and traction control come on and off. It does not matter if it is raining/wet or sunny, around a turn or straight the lights turn on and off on their whim. When the lights are on the truck has different braking characteristics than when the lights are off. The truck stops in a longer time frame and the brakes seem as if they have less braking power or are soft compared to them when the lights are off.
While driving the light and warning signal for the ABS Brakes and Traction Control go on and off intermittently. Another indicator comes on that says the ABS brakes need servicing. This can happen at almost anytime. If on the highway with cruise control on and the lights come on the cruise drops out and the vehicle slows quickly, hopefully no one has run into the back of the truck, because it happened at 65 mph on Monday. I had the codes checked and it says the pump motor for the ABS is at fault, stored code DTC C0020-01. The ABS pump assembly had to be ordered on March 10, 2020 and was replaced under warranty once already on March 25, 2020, 16015 miles for the same thing, and the part had to be ordered. The vehicle now has 20360 miles on it and it is my understanding that the part...
At 9794 miles, warranty repair for Code C002001, failed ABS pump motor control, general circuit failure, replaced control module under warranty. Now the vehicle is having same issue at 37,XXX miles, and no longer under warranty. Screen constantly flashes "Service electronic brake system" and "Service ABS System" over and over. ABS light comes on. Traction control light comes on. Vehicle does not have functioning electronic brakes or ABS. I contacted original dealership who performed repair at 9794 miles who now reports they "have no record" of this repair, although I still have the customer copy of the receipt. I contacted Mopar customer support on 7/11/23 who told me that I would be contacted within 3 days, but I have not been verbally contacted. I also filed an online complaint with Mopar on 7/11/23 and have not received an electronic reply, either. This is a known issue on 2017 Ram 2500...
2017 RAM 2500 has known issue with Antilock Brake Unit Hydraulic Controller - This prevents brakes from operating correctly and traction control / speed control is disabled - Confirmed diagnosis with dealer - Vehicle has current Mopar Vehicle Protection (service plan) but part is unavailable to be ordered - RAM dealer stated vehicle does not pass state safety inspection. RAM Care case submitted. No accidents and 40k miles. This component failure can result in unsafe conditions while driving due to loss of control while stopping or in slippery conditions. Constant alert and lack of speed control can lead to driver fatigue.
Service Electronic brakes and service abs system along with abs light, traction control light and cruise control wont work. First issue happened at 36,000 miles covered under warranty. Vehicle now has 53,000 miles and same issue is back. Vehicle could have brakes abs system fail and cause a wreck. OEM parts are on a long wait list. After reading hours of reports online of many other vehicles and people experiencing same issues Ram needs to issue a recall.
My trucks ABS keeps cutting off, it’s operation is intermittent. This also disables the cruise control and traction control. I have researched this on this year and it’s a problem with many of doges trucks. The dealer has no fix for this safety issue. This is an on going issue that happens every time i drive the vehicle.
Service ABS system and Traction Control light and bell comes on intermittently while driving. Well known and documented problem. Many people have reported this and replaced parts with no solution.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while pulling out of the driveway, there was a message stating that the sensors were not connected. Additionally, the ABS warning light and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 78,000.
ABS Light and Anti Lock Break System Alarm and Light constantly goes off. The light an alarm started within one month of purchasing and the vehicle is over $40,000.. every shop that we have taken it to said that it’s something that the manufacture should fix it at some point it’s not safe because it is your antilock brake system. It needs to be fixed and we shouldn’t have to pay the outrageous cost of having this fax one we just purchased a vehicle..
My 2017 Ram 2500 has the ABS and HCU issues commonly found on these vehicles. To my Suprise the dealer cannot get the part due to how common this issue is the parts are on backorder. I have videos of the system failing while driving and the codes it is throwing. Due to it's tie to the ABS I do not think the truck is safe to operate. I am still making payments so this is a big deal for me. I can't trade it in for a couple of reasons. One of the main ones being I will have to take less money due to this defect. Yes, it has been reproduced by a local service center and I have video of it malfunctioning on the road. Inspected by a local service center but not a dealership yet. The warning lights come on and it "dings" at me.
Traction control/ ABS light consistently chiming on and off. Took to local dealer where I bought the truck from, diagnosed a bad ABS hydraulic control unit. They can’t get the part due to the amount of these rams needing this part replaced. Multiple forums of Rams stating the exact same thing, could be dangerous to drive if you are counting on your ABS to work properly in an emergency.
2017 Ram 2500. 24,000 miles While driving at any speed, warning lights and chime intermittently come on. Display reads "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service ABS". ABS and Traction Control lights also illuminate on the dash. Sometimes the chime will come on and off so fast that the truck is constantly chiming which is very. Sometimes the warning lights stay illuminated. Sometimes they go away. Sometimes they flash on a off rapidly. The ABS module and Hydraulic control unit have already been replaced under warranty at 15,000 miles. I have been waiting for the parts to repair for over 8 months (since August 2022) with a promised part mid April. Upon contacting servicing dealer Daimler Chrysler has put this part under “engineering review” AGAIN with a new ETA of sometime in August 2023 for part availability. Safety concern is improper braking while ABS component is active or constantly going in...
The Service Antilock Braking System warning and Service Traction Control warning illuminate regularly. There are no known problems with the systems but it is unknown if they will work when needed. The lights come on up to one time per second, and sometimes not for days. There are hundreds of people on forums complaining about this, no known fix. Replacing components does not seem to solve the issue. I have video available if needed.
Abs pump and control module built with defective part’s causing pump and module failure which in turn caused break failure
2017 Ram 2500. ODO 77,000 miles While driving at any speed, warning lights and audible tones intermittently come on. Display reads "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service ABS". ABS and Traction Control lights also illuminate on the dash. Sometimes the warnings will come on and off so fast that the truck is constantly chiming which is very distracting. Speed doesn't appear to be a factor. Sometimes the warning lights stay illuminated. Sometimes they go away. Sometimes they flash on a off rapidly. Truck has not been taken to the dealership yet but an appointment has been made and the dealer said it is most likely the ABS module and Hydraulic Control Unit that needs to be replaced. This sounds like a known issue. Safety issues I am concerned about are: Loss of ABS and traction control. Trailer braking system issues while towing (horse trailer). Distractions from audible alarm constantly chiming,...
Starting roughly a year from the date of this report, the vehicle would randomly issue a warning "Service Electronic Braking System" and turn on the Traction Control and ABS warning indicators; it would also disable Cruise Control. These errors would appear sporadically and persists for a few seconds to a few minutes. The dealer was unable to diagnose as the error was not actively triggered at the dealership. Over time, the error happened more often and persisted for longer time periods (minutes, hours, then days) but would eventually (and randomly) reset. It became clear that it was oftent triggered by a sharp jolt or a tight turn. Recently the error stayed on permanently and the dealer was able to retrieve an error code which led them to suspect a faulty connector. It took 6 weeks to get the connector and when the dealer attempted to install it they came to...
Hydraulic Control Unit failure on Ram 2500. This causes antilock brakes to stop working as well as traction control.
ABS pump electrical failure, repaired OCT.17/2020 by dealer. 11/20/2022 same problem. ABS light, traction control, and no Trailor brakes, or cruse. not sure what other problems exist.
Service Electronic Brake System and service Antilock Brake system light come on and off intermittently at random times. Some time on and off a few times faster then it can display the message. The Hydraulic Control Unit was replace one already. Reading online there are several 2017 and 2018 rams having this issue.
This issue was repaired by the dealer one year ago and it has happened again, they tried to charge me by pretending they didnt know about the previous repair. the internet is full with the exact same complaint and how is this not a recall to hold them accountable?? the service electronic brake system and ABS lights come on and off each time making annoying noises. when the lights are on the 4x4, cruise control and other items will not engage. the dealer agreed to repair it but told me to call in 5 months to see IFFFF any parts are available this not only shows its a wide spread problem but their incompetency to fix it. how do I know the second module they replace wont malfunction as well???
Under normal driving conditions I got the “SERVICE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM” message along with an ABS light, traction control light, loss of traction control, loss of cruise control functions and loss of 4x4 functions. This is a well known safety issue that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. With ABS being a SAFETY feature required on all vehicles, it is only appropriate that this become a safety recall.
The vehicle randomly goes into 4WD without the user turning the knob to request 4WD. If this happens at high speed it will cause severe damage to the vehicle drive train. Makes steering extreemly difficult on pavement. 1. Service 4WD lamp illuminates. 2. Reduced speed and exited highway. 3. Steered vehicle to off ramp. Upon steering left vehicle entered 4WD without user request making steering very difficult. Vehicle would not return to 2WD unless user shut down vehicle, turn knob to 4WD then back to 2WD. Investigated by certified RAM technician at a dealership on 5/11/2]22 who could not find the issue. The dealership cleared the truck for ordinary use. Currently the vehicle status is service 4WD light is on and it will not shift to 4WD or 2WD. 2 incidents one in 1 June 2021 2 September 2022
Purchased this vehicle 8 months ago and from what I have been reading online this is an ongoing problem with Dodge Ram 2500 and this ABS module electrical issue is considered the most expensive part fixing the Dodge Ram, so how is it fair to the consumer to have to pay 3,000 for an electrical issue less than one year ago and only 35,000 miles on vehicle. There are thousands of post with the same complaint on the same year truck with the same issue. The Dodge Dealership said today that it is a safety issue because when we go to use our brakes quickly or for Emergency they will not work and they could lock up. we bought this vehicle to tow our fifth wheel. It makes me feel unsafe and not fair to have to feel this way. These days we can barely afford our vehicles and homes...
The ABS light constantly beeps and flashes. It is available for inspection. We are not sure if it is unsafe. We had it hooked up to the code machine from a dealership and they said it definitely needs to be fixed. Yes it has been confirmed. Not inspected from the Ram dealership yet because I was hoping it would be at no charge. We just bought the truck 8 months ago with 30,000 miles. There should be no problems. The lights come on every time you start the truck and blink more when you go over bumps .
I have a C0020-01(ABS pump motor control general electrical failure) code on my 2017 Ram 2500 truck with only 43,xxx miles. This code and mechanical issue was identified/confirmed by a Ram dealership. The ABS/traction control warning light started intermittently turning on, and then off about 1,000 miles ago and has continued until now. With this issue, the ABS/traction controls do not work on the vehicle. This alone puts myself, my family’s, and other people’s lives at risk. This is a very well documented and well known safety issue on these Ram trucks. Any simple internet search will show that this is true. Even the Ram Service Representative said that these trucks should be recalled because of this safety issue. There should absolutely be a recall because it is a direct safety issue that involves so many of these Ram trucks. With an extremely common faulty ABS/traction control issue such as...
