2017 RAM 2500 Unknown Or Other Problems

C4B 2017 Ram D2 DD DF DJ DP Hydraulic C / Not Available We are at Risk everyday Yes Confirmed Recall and Problem Yes inspected by Ram Dealer & CarMax The warning lights and the noise constantly goes off and they’ve been happening since a few days after we purchased the vehicle and the dealership that we purchased, the vehicle knew about the problem and never fixed it until this recall which they’re still not fixing for us. I am going to file a lemon lawsuit. Unless they solve this issue. $40,000 Vehicles should not have these issues. The brakes are locking up and almost crashed several times . Continuous warnings and tones showing issues for anti lock brakes and stability traction control. In less than 3 months will be a year since the recall was announced and there is no remedy. This is a nuisance and safety issue and should absolutely be a priority to fix. NHTSA #24V-896

Brake shift interlock clamp around column gear shift broke. There was a recall T-79 but it’s says our vehicle is not included. As we bought this vehicle used we are guessing it was repaired? But repaired with another defective part.

ABS Light and traction conrol light started acting up. Brakes not currently sticking but will be sending for possible repair as this is a common trend with this vehichle from What I have reviewed online.

Service ABS Electronic Braking System Message, ABS as well as Traction Control light intermittently coming on and shutting off, Sometimes staying illuminated awhile then going back to coming on Intermittently. Took to shop and ran diagnostic trouble codes on truck. The trouble codes saying ABS/HCU Pump Module Electrical Failure. Recommended fix is to replace ABS Pump Module. I am aware of the class action lawsuit and this same issue on most all 2017-2018 Ram 2500 trucks. The problem I am presented with now is, The ABS Pump Module is on national back order which is making it extremely difficult to find a replacement. I am now left with a truck that is unsafe to drive as a father and husband due to the vehicles Antilocking Brake System not functioning at all as well as the Traction Control System not functioning at all. Due to these issues when I am forced...

ABS module unit replaced while under warranty. Vehicle again with ABS warning on/off intermittently for at least the last several months...regardless of weather, speed, road conditions, etc. Comes on and off while driving, sitting in a parking lot...pretty much as soon as I turn on the motor it starts...goes off again for several minutes/hours/days, then starts doing the blinking and dinging again for no reason. While traveling, it turns off cruise control and I have lost 4 wheel drive when I've desperately needed it. This vehicle is only used for long distance travel or during snow storms. This is a safety issue, in my opinion. Causes operational malfunction and causes driver distraction.

Brake error and traction control error on dash. It is available for inspection. Not sure if it is safe but we have not options. This started several years ago. We have looked at ordering parts and tried to make appointment at dealer but parts were out of stock. We have not ever taken it in to the dealer as this happened literally 2 weeks after our warranty expired. No one has inspected it. There were not any other warnings prior and the vehicle seems to function but it is annoying driving it as the warning goes off all the time. I know they recently recalled newer Dodge Rams for this same type of issue but seem to be refusing to recall the older models for those of us that have been waiting and hoping nothing safety wise happens. It is a well knows issue and there are class action suits...

ABS/Traction control unit disabled (light on). diagnosed by dealer in October of 2023 as ABS pump and module as bad. No part available from dealer (dealer only part and ETA of 3/24). Advised to park truck until part came in 6 months. Called Dodge customer care on 5/2 to ask for update. was told no part available and no ETA in the future. I am driving an unsafe vehicle due to faulty brake system dealer can't/won't fix.

TPMS light came on and will not reset. As a result I have lost the ability to engage the 4x4 system. The front axle actuator is electrically controlled and will no longer engage.

MULTIPLE repetitive ABS/HCU failures starting in 2022. Truck has for the most part been sitting since then due to unavailability of parts, reengineering of parts and now again lack of availability of parts. Should we have encountered an emergency braking situation we would could have experienced, increased stopping distance, loss of steering control and significantly reduced traction. This ABS/HCU also causes us to lose trailer brake controller and our truck is primarily for towing. Which is why ABS was mandated for all vehicles in 2011.

Def exhaust system came on and says I have 120 miles left before it shuts down. I just bought it at the end of August with only 75000 miles on it

I purchased my 2017 Ram 2500 truck new in October of 2017 from Champion Dodge in Gulfport, MS. Since then, I have been experiencing a reoccurring problem with the truck's ABS braking system. I have had the truck in the shop repairs on this ABS system five times since I have owned the truck. The first two repairs were covered under warranty, the next two visits I had to pay for, and the fifth visit, I was told they can't repair the truck and parts would not be available until maybe April of 2024. The trucks ABS braking system warning lights continuously flash and alarm making the truck almost unusable. I am also not sure if the truck is even safe to drive with this system malfunctioning. I feel this has to be a recall or something. I feel that Dodge/Ram should repair this truck at no cost to me....

Abs and traction Control keeps going off and on showing service brake system.

My truck’s ABS warning light goes on and off repeatedly when I am driving. When the light comes on, my cruise control is not available. My traction control also does not work. The mechanic says the ABS module needs to be replaced but the part is unavailable. I have called multiple dealers across the country and cannot find one. Apparently this is a widespread problem with this vehicle… We have been researching it.

When I bought the truck (in Feb 2022), the dealership had just fixed the abs module. It had 87,000 miles on it when i bought it. About a year later (Feb 2023) it started dinging and flashing the abs error again. Shuts off or prevents cruise control from working, constantly dings and flashes the error while driving. Dodge said the part is on backorder and I'm waiting for them to be able to get it in to fix it.. .

Traction control/ ABS light consistently chiming on and off. Took to local dealer where I bought the truck from, diagnosed a bad ABS hydraulic control unit. They can’t get the part due to the amount of these rams needing this part replaced. Multiple forums of Rams stating the exact same thing, could be dangerous to drive if you are counting on your ABS to work properly in an emergency.

I have dash lights going on and off for the ABS and traction control. This is very intermitted. On two occasions I have experienced times where I had to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident. Both times the ABS failed to work causing me to come to near collision with another vehicle. One of the times this caused me to go off into a ditch. This was with slick roads and snow covered in areas. Have also had several times the truck would steer out of control with no traction aid. I am constantly losing speed control using cruise control. It will work for a bit and then turn off when the ABS and traction control lights come on.

The vehicle randomly goes into 4WD without the user turning the knob to request 4WD. If this happens at high speed it will cause severe damage to the vehicle drive train. Makes steering extreemly difficult on pavement. 1. Service 4WD lamp illuminates. 2. Reduced speed and exited highway. 3. Steered vehicle to off ramp. Upon steering left vehicle entered 4WD without user request making steering very difficult. Vehicle would not return to 2WD unless user shut down vehicle, turn knob to 4WD then back to 2WD. Investigated by certified RAM technician at a dealership on 5/11/2]22 who could not find the issue. The dealership cleared the truck for ordinary use. Currently the vehicle status is service 4WD light is on and it will not shift to 4WD or 2WD. 2 incidents one in 1 June 2021 2 September 2022

Today while driving the vehicle, the ABS light came on and other lights followed. The vehicle began to loose power. Pulled in the driveway and the vehicle was trying to catch on fire. There was smoke coming from the hood and the front passenger tire was what appeared to be melted/ bent away from the truck. I was able to spray water on the truck engine and stop the smoke and heat. Once I was certain the truck was not burning, I contacted the local chief of police and met with him to make a report. I had the vehicle for about a month. I had just replaced my 2014 dodge diesel that ignited during the night on March 22,2022. After an extensive fire investigation from the insurance department was undetermined of the cause. The insurance company reached out to Dodge which insisted there have been no problems. That vehicle...

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 RAM 2500. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AROUND A CORNER AND DOWN A MOUNTAIN, THE WHEELS OF THE VEHICLE STRUCK A ROCK AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD, NECK, AND KNEE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION (MRI). THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER SUSTAINED A NECK INJURY AND SCRATCHES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THREE OTHER CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE WHO SUSTAINED INJURIES AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE AND DEEMED IT TOTALED. THE CONTACT CALLED STUTEVILLE CHRYSLER DODGE (3001 N BROADWAY ST, POTEAU, OK 74953, (918) 647-3183), BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE DEALER ASKED THE CONTACT TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,845. *DT*JB

A LOUD NOISE FROM UNDER AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE IS GENERATED WHEN SHIFTING FROM LOW TO HIGH GEAR. WHEN IN HIGH TRAFFIC, TURNING RIGHT AND LEFT, AND HAULING MODE. THE NOISE GENERATED SOUND COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION OR WITHIN THE UNDERSIDE AS THE VEHICLE SHIFTS. HAVE MADE VISUAL INSPECTION WITH NO EVIDENCE OF RUBBING OR LOSE CABLE, TIRE TO FINDER, OR LOSE SHAFT WEAR.

REAR RAIL GATE OPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. 3RD TIME I HAVE HAD TRUCK INTO DEALER FOR THIS. THEY TELL ME THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS AND NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE SO THEY CAN'T FIX IT.

AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 65-75MPH WHILE ON ANY HWY OR INTERSTATE THERE IS A SLIGHT VIBRATION IN THE FLOOR BOARD. I PURCHASED 4 MICHELEN DEFENDER LTX MS TIRES BECAUSE THE DEALER TOLD ME MY TIRES WERE OUT OF ROUND. AFTER I PICKED IT UP, IT STILL DID IT. MY TRUCK OCCASIONALY TELLS ME 4 WHEEL DRIVE SHIFT IN PROGRESS WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE DEALER IN PORT AURTHOR DID AN ALIGNMENT AND INSPECTED THE SUSPENSION BUT CAME UP WITH NO SOLUTION.

TAILGATE LOCK ACTUATOR DEFECT. TAILGATE FALLS RANDOMLY WHILE TRUCK IN MOTION WHEN VEHICLE LOCKS DOORS ONCE IN MOTION AUTOMATICALLY. THE ACTUATOR OVER ROTATES AND UNLOCKS TAILGATE ALLOWING IT TO DROP. ALSO WHEN USING KEY FOB TO LOCK DOORS ACTUATOR OVER ROTATES CAUSING TAILGATE UNLOCK AND ALLOWS IT TO FALL.

TAKATA RECALL 2017 RAM 2500 TRANS TEMP GETTING TO HIGH AT NORMAL DRIVING CONDS WAS TOLD FROM PEOPLE WHO EXPERIENCED THIS THE EXHAUST IS TO CLOSE TO THE TRANS WITHOUT A DEFLECTOR

TRUCK HAS MAJOR VIBRATION BETWEEN 60 TO 80 MPH. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX 3 TIMES WITH 2 TIRE REBALANCING AND 1 LOAD FORCE REBALANCE. NONE HAVE IMPACTED VIBRATION. NOW VIBRATION IS WORSE AND IS IMPACTING DRIVABILITY. COMPLAINT TICKET IS IN WITH FCA # 32159244. DEALER HAS ENTERED STAR TICKET 8/24/17. TRUCK CURRENT MELANGE IS 3223, AND WAS JUST PURCHASED IN JUNE 2017.
