1. The Oil light came on and I thought I just needed an oil change. I was driving when my car started making a knocking noise. I called 4 KIA Dealerships to explain my situation and they all kept trying to push me off on the other, until one of them was finally able to get me an appointment at the other location in Longwood, Fl. Long story short they told me that there were a few recalls on my car and they could be fixed, only to find out later they could not fix my car due to another recall not being done on the car, even though the recall notice that they sent me was said they are to fix Catalytic Converter Protection logic in the Engine Control Unit, and if Necessary Replace the Catalytic Converter and/or Engine at NOT COST TO ME. Yet KIA Dealership called me...

As per Kia's recall on the catalytic converters on some models, our Kia is also giving the CEL obd code of p0420, but on nhtsa our specific car isn't listed as being a part of the recall. It fits in the engine being a 1.6l and the correct year for the recall, and is having the same issues as the recalled models, but for some reason our's isn't shown as having that recall on this site, even tho it does show up as having that recall on other vin checking sites.

While driving down the interstate, my car started sputtering, decelerating, and then cut off. I was able to get it back on long enough to get off the interstate. When I stopped, my car cut off. Turn it back on, sputter down the road, then engine knocking, turn off. For about 15 miles. I finally got it towed to my Kia dealer and I explicitly told them about the recall. They had no idea what I was talking about so I called Kia. According to Kia, even though my car is on the recall list, I'm out of luck because I wasn't informed that it had to be done during a certain time. I'm not the original owner and never got notice and now I'm out of a car I am STILL paying on!

Kia Soul is burning oil more frequently before every scheduled oil change. Lost of power going uphill.RPM goes high and drops speeds drastically. I had already replace catalytic converter twice. Most recent, it started to lose power, went into limp mode with no check engine light and messed up the catalytic converter had to replace again.

Engine light and ABS light always on, kia hasnt explained this issue or expressed concern about it.. Engine randomly started leaking oil, blowing out white smoke, stalling out upon accelerating causing safety issue in traffic. Kia has had car for 2 weeks now with no answers to resolve. Being told the recall issue is "fine" I use my car for work and this unresolved issue is affecting my livelihood. This all began on 4-29-22 and am now being asked to pay for further testing for diagnostic purposes. Told there are no loaner vehicles and to rent one at my own expense.

Hello I have a 2015 Kia Soul with a 1.6L engine and I am awear that there is a recall on Kia souls in the same year as my car. I called and as you can see, it says my car does not have a recall on it. Today is April 19,2022 and due to my car giving me problems and would not start at times, and a few days ago the engine started shaking. When I took her to pepboys today the diagnosis was The same that’s described in the recall for Kia souls. My Cadillac converter needs to be changed and there is a chance of a fire combustion. I would like for someone to contact me because this could have ended badly and put my Safty at risk. A recall is created because customers find defaults in these models of Kia’s due to them being build improperly....

The contact was informed that the engine failure was not related to the recall and was given an estimate for a new engine. The contact made multiple attempts to reach the manufacturer but each attempt was unsuccessful. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

oil light came on randomly while driving. Took to the shop to have checked out. Was found to be almost empty of oil. Oil was changed 2 months prior. Filled up with oil and left. Everytime the vehicle would sit adle the oil pressure would cause the oil light to come on. Took to the dealership and was told it needed a new engine. Dealership promised to replace the engine for no charge. Stated it would take appoximatley 3 weeks. Stated there was a recall and issue with these engines. After 3 weeks dealership called and stated the vehicle only passed 1 or 2 test required before replacing engine. The engine would not be replaced free of charge. the vehicle has 82,000 miles. Have record of every oil change that was serviced at the appropriate time. The dealership wanted 8700.00 for a engine.

The vehicle was taken to highway and after an uphill ramp (from Stringfellow to I-66E), the vehicle lost power, started to smoke, brake system lost power (foot brake did not work, so side brake was used to stop the vehicle), then caught on fire at Mile Marker 56.6. Yes, it is available for an inspection. I had to evacuate the vehicle in the middle of interstate highway that did not have an emergency lane. 3 out of 4 lanes had been blocked, so, yes, it did put others at safety risk as well. Problem cannot be reproduced as the vehicle will be deemed total loss (pending insurance company's inspection). However, please note that the engine was replaced at the dealer, under the warranty, 2 weeks prior to the incident. Insurance company is inspecting the vehicle and the captain of the fire brigade has stated that he will be filing a...

I purchased my 2015 Kia Soul at the end of 2014, while living in Florida. I moved out of Florida in 2018, and had the car's registration changed to include my new address as soon as possible upon my arrival in my new state of residence. Kia began notifying owners of this vehicle about recall # 19V120000 in February 2019. Kia, by their own admission, mailed notice of this recall to me using an old Florida address. This letter was never forwarded to my correct address and I continued driving the vehicle unaware of this safety issue, which increases the risk of engine stalling and engine fire, until March 2022. In March 2022 the car began to break down while I was driving approximately 70 miles per hour on a state highway due to the exact problem described in recall # 19V120000, abnormal engine temperatures damaged at least one piston...

Vehicle started to lose oil and knocking sound in engine began which may be coming from the piston rings. It is available for inspection and I have taken it to 2 KIA Dealerships. In regards to safety Quest - I drive my daughter to school and home and myself to work. Our safety has been at risk every time we are in the car. The problem was confirmed by both dealerships KIA of Alhambra and KIA of Downtown Los Angeles. In regards to question of any other inspection - No. In regards to Quest of warning lamps - Yes engine light comes on and off. Car is drivable but the knocking in the engine and the loss of oil forced me to stop driving it because I believe the pistons are about to go out and cause an engine fire. This issue began in October of 2021 and that is...

while driving my vehicle all of a sudden in the middle of a busy road I lost power. My vehicle would no longer accelerate and came to a stop. Engine light came on. This caused a big safety risk to myself as well as others on the road due to my vehicle coming to a sudden and unexpected stop. The engine light came on, which was not on prior. I was just able to have my vehicle towed today to a Kia dealership.

Engine is leaking oil. Recall reference number 20V75000 also listed as SC200 applies to my vehicle, but when I called about it, Kia states that it does not. I had a mechanic look at it, and all of the same issues are happening to my vehicle. The recall states that an engine compartment fire can occur while driving. My car has lost a quarter of the oil in a matter of three weeks. This is not normal. The mechanic noticed several oil leaks from the engine.

Purchased my 2015 Kia Soul in March 2020. Its has been burning oil forever. My husband, literally has to top off the oil every other day. I've called Kia Corp and they say it's not included in any recalls. Now, the car sputters and is having issues with accelerating. I've taken to my local mechanic and they have no clue why it's doing this. I also have a cat converter issue that needs to be fixed. I first started having issues at 90000 miles. How can my car have issues described in 3 recalls, but not be included in them? I've sunk so much $ into this thing! Will never purchase another.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving up a hill at approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The check engine warning light illuminated and was flashing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where two unknown recalls were completed. The mechanic informed her of error code P1326: KSDS failure (Knock Sensor Detection System). Additionally, the bearing was not fractured and the mechanic was unable to proceed. There was a claim filed for an engine replacement which was denied. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed her that the failure was due to the engine and power train. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
#11453500 |
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle started to stall. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Sudden engine lockup, car no longer driveable

The catalytic converter is causing my engine to have issues. I was traveling up an incline and the car would not accelerate past 30mph. I never received any warning signs such as engine light, black smoke from the exhaust, and the egg smell if the converter is going bad. I took the car to Kia and they could not see the car until the last week of February. The service department was backed up and understaffed. I took it to an independent service center and they said it was the catalytic converter. I continue to perform maintenance on the vehicle. The vehicle was not inspected by the manufacturer etc. Again, I didn't get any warning messages, I did a vehicle diagnostic UVO It said no critical issues were found. Traveling 60mph, your vehicle shutting down to 30mph in traffic is dangerous.

Attempting to comply with recall. Possible related check engine light.
#11451707 |
It was the engine that failed and my car stopped on the highway and I could’ve been a car accident. Yes it been confirmed by the service department at DARCARS Kia of Temple Hills md. It been inspected at the car dealership. The engine light came on a month or two before the engine went out and then it went off.
#11451596 |
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle to continue driving; however, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine) and contacted the local dealer; however, the local dealer informed the contact that they could not repair the vehicle under the recall because the service records for an oil change that she provided did not indicate that oil changes had been completed as needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

At busy intersection was stopped for red light. When light turned green put foot on gas and car would not move more then 5 miles per hour. No warning lights on dashboard. Was able to get to side of road. Has car towed to mechanic close by, they said both catalytic converter would have to be replaced $4,700. Strange to have this kind of damage fir car under75,000 miles. Looked up recalls and KIA had one fir that year of car. Recall number: SC176 Had car towed to closest KIA dealer in Gladstone Oregon. They said the engine showed damage and would $8,700 to fix. Said recall or the warranty would not cover cost. Warranty for up to #100,000 and recall states recall could cause engine damage.

Increased use of oil with no visible signs of external oil leak. Oil light comes on and knocking sound heard and when oil level was checked it was 2-3 quarts low each time. This has happened at least three times since October 2021. Most recently December 24, 2021 2.5 quarts low, February 4, 2022 3 quarts low.
#11451082 |
The car began burning oil at around 60K miles. When I took it in for oil changes, it was consistently low on oil. When the car was taken in for a recall SC200, the engine was checked and was not registering any codes and declared healthy. However, the car continued to struggle to accelerate, make rumbling noises and burning oil. Six months later, the engine failed at 80K miles. Three of the four cylinders were scored. The car was taken back to the dealership and a scope of the engine cylinders showed the damage. There is no record that when the car was in the dealership for the KSDS recall that a scope was put in the engine to check the cylinders. The check engine lights never illuminated despite the engine damage. Kia will not replace the engine as the engine is not showing a code that relates to the...

My concern is probably a concern with all Kia owners with Gamma and Nu engines. I first noticed this issue after a CEL came up on the dash and then my car went into a Safety "Limp" Mode condition. I returned home and tried to diagnose why the car went into Limp Mode (acceleration limited to <2000RPM). I turned off the vehicle and restarted and restarted it to see if that would clear the CEL. That did not clear the issue. I then checked the engine oil and found that the oil level was below dipstick level. That was very odd as it had only been 3,100 miles since the last dealer oil change for the vehicle. That was when I began to read issues with the Kia engines and the excessive oil burning issues of the engines in question. For my current issue, I refilled the oil level and...

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to examine the vehicle due to the large volume of vehicles that were also in for service for the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but had not yet responded to or rendered a decision to the dealer regarding the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to exceed 40 MPH. The vehicle then stalled without warning and was parked on the side of the roadway. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet contacted or notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.

My vehicle started losing power and was making a loud whomping sound. The check engine light came on and was blinking continuously. I believe the engine blew up. I was at safety risk because these vehicles have a history of starting on fire and also it was below zero. The manufacturer is aware of the history of engine failure and this is a new motor installed from the last one failing

Now when I just went to check my engine oil it smelled of gas and was starting to get pretty low. I just checked it 2 weeks ago and it Was fine. No one has ever inspected the vehicle and yes it is very available for inspection. Still my fuel consumption is terrible and now my oil is low low with a gas smell to it. No warning lights have ever came on and it seems to drive fine.
#11447609 | Crash
After reading in my instructions Manuel about what might be causing my fuel consumption to be way to high I learned that the gas cap was suppose to click which it has not since we got the vehicle in December of 2021so I went and bought a gas cap and now it clicks like it’s suppose to. My fuel consumption is way to high right now I have filled this car up with gas so many more times then any other vehicle I have owned. When I put fuel in you can smell the fuel for the next two days and every now and again you get a whiff of engine coolant smell and a burning smell I’m not sure what the burning smell is because I’ve never smelled it before. Yes the vehicle is available for inspection. No one has inspected it still since my last complaint. And no...

On December 20th I had a Cylinder 2 & 4 misfire. I had to get my vehicle towed to the KIA dealership where they kept my car for a week. I called to get an update and I was told that my engine was a total lost and I went over the 100,000 mile warranty so I would have to pay $5500 out of pick to replace my engine. I was given a phone number to call the KIA customer service. Once I reached an operator I learned that there was an engine recall 12-01-2020 and I was not notified of this recall and I also learned that there was a system update April 2021 that I was notified about either. Acceleration system/ on highway at high speeds It stay accelerating at very high rpms as it shifts into the next gear and it is consuming a very large amount of fuel at the same time. It is available for an inspection. It has not been inspected by anyone. While driving on the highway at high speeds I felt it was putting my family and myself at risk of crash or engine failure or being stuck on the side of the highway.

The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at 30 MPH, the engine oil warning light illuminated, and she heard abnormal sounds coming from the engine. The contact stated that as the vehicle began to stall, his daughter veered to the side of the road and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle but did not inform the contact of the diagnostic result. The dealer advised the contact that they could not repair the vehicle as he had failed to complete the recall repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine, and Engine Cooling). Wed Dec 8,2021 - I was driving home after picking up take out when vehicle loses power upon acceleration. Check engine light begins blinking and vehicle monitoring system specifies an issue with the Engine Control Management System. I am able to limp home, turn off the car then turn it on again. Still have the blinking CEL and same message from vehicle monitoring system. I check the engine oil as it was making a clacking sound during driving but I did not think it was the engine oil because the car had just had a dealer oil change and inspection at 90,000 miles and I was at 93,100. The engine oil level was non-existent, so I refilled the oil to the working level on the dip stick. I start the vehicle again but the CEL was still flashing and acceleration did not go above 2,500 rpms. Fri Dec 10, 2021...
